- CSX swaps engines around on the old main line due to a broken down engine (8129) on an auto rack train at the Woodstock Road grade crossing, Woodstock, Maryland, with lots of loud train horns and echos. CSX #8666 is an EMD SD50-2 (Ex-Conrail), 894 is a GE ES44AC, 434 is a GE AC4400CW, 8129 is an EMD SD40-2 (Ex-Clinchfield, Ex-Seaboard, Ex-L&N). Here is the companion video to this one - • CSX Engines #8666 & #...

For the people wondering this is where every locomotive in this video is today (to my knowledge), CSX 8666 was scrapped at somepoint in 2021, CSX 894 is still around, CSX 434 might have been repainted or rebuilt but it is around, CSX 8129 might not be around anymore i'm not sure I did see some images of the locomotive looking pretty beat up, CSX 923 is still around, and finally not a locomotive but the crossing got a new bell at some point between 2012 and 2016 (edit: the crossing got new lights at some point between 2018 and 2019). This video is what my childhood was glad to see its still around.
Thanks for all that information! 👋💛
Csx 894 and 434 are my favorite locomotives
And 923 too
To confirm:
8666 - Scrapped at LTEX in Lordstown, OH in May 2021.
8129 - Still on the active roster, current whereabouts unknown.
894 - Active
434 - Active, currently holds the Yn3b paint. Hasn't been rebuilt yet.
923 - Active
460 - Active, currently holds the Yn3B paint. Hasn't been rebuilt yet.
Keep in mind csx 8666 had A K5LLA in front and it’s backwards which means there’s only one bell facing the front
Amazing how time flies as CSX 8666 has been sold off the roster, 434 in YN3B, 894 still normal, and 8129 on the roster still
I can't believe it's already been 10 years since this was uploaded! Time flies.

Thanks for watching so much! ✌
6:07 Give this driver an award, he stopped, he looked, and he listened for trains when he was at the crossing which is something most people never do.
One of the first train vids I ever watched, instant classic! Brings back a sort of nostalgia for me. Congrats on such a successful video!
Thanks for watching again! 😁
Same, I watched this first when I was 5, and I've gotten into trains ever sense! Now, I'm 11 and I saw it in my recommended and I couldn't say no. A nostalgic blast from the past for me too!

UA-cam has recommended this video dozens of times. I finally decided to watch it. Lots of light engine action.
Thanks for finally watching it! 👍💜
@@BaltimoreAndOhioRR glad I did. Light engines are my favorite.
Locomotive 8666 was also seen in the video "INSANE CSX Locomotive wheel slip"
That was a INSANE wheel slip
If you ever seen top gear ⚙️ it was Jeremy Clarkson was driving, “SPEED AND POWER!”
I commented on that video that it was also on this one, recently...
Why is CSX 8666 in so many popular train videos?
its funny how i still remember watching this video over and over again as a kid, it brings back memories that i wish i could go back to 😢❤
Yeah, I can relate to that! ☹
Same😢
I Agree
A Childhood classic from when CSX had there classics still running. This video is what really got me into trains. Or CSX. Since the CSX Toledo Branch runs trough my town. Every time i heard a horn i would convince my mom to park for it so i could see it. i remember it being a AC6000 in the Classic YN2
Thanks for watching before, and now! 😊
0:53 you gotta love CSX 894's horn

Amazing horn of CSX 894
An Early Raised Letter K5HL with an impressive sound!
This man, this is what got me into trains. I wanna cry because this brings back so many memories.
Thx so much 🧡
CSX trains are my favorite
8666, 434, and 894: the legendary trio, whose beautiful horns will forever echo through the woods of Woodstock, if only in our memories.
😊👍
@James Halbert not 894 unfortunately it's horn is almost dead and 8666 is likely either stored or sold off
@@VikramCSX 894 has a fouled K5HL like probably a dead 1L bell
@@Pkmn_mlp_sonic_fnaf_fanYou are correct! The 1L bell needs to be cleaned, or replaced! It sounds close to a K5H now.
Yeah the SD50s were unusually troublesome. GM rushed the production of the SD50. The SD50 truly could have been successful had GM not rushed EMD to make the SD50.
This video was amazing and awesome Dave!! I really enjoyed watching all this train and horn action and loved it!! This video of yours came up in my UA-cam feed!! 😄

I hope that Driver got arrested for ignoring the railroad crossing
10 years later I still like this video I watched it in like 2013 and I was like 3 or something now I'm 11 in a half so many memories, back before YN3B existed back when we had standard cab C40-8 locomotives, SD70ACE locomotives, and back when SD40-3's were barely around, back when Ex Conrail C40-8W's were still around, back when AC6000 were not retired, long before ST70AH's did not exist, back when tier 4's did not even exist either, back when we still had SD50, 60 and, 70 locomotives, and back when we still had many SD70MAC's. I didn't grow up with CSX but I knew it was a railroad. I grew up with Union Pacific, and back then I didn't record trains now I record almost ALL trains that I see. And back then when I saw UP I would BARLY see CNW, SP, or any other kind of railroad. However, I would see New England Central sometimes but always pulling locals with mostly tanker cars. I used to see SD50 or 60's lead locals but I never recorded them because I was still young and never thought about it. I did record some SD40-2's lead locals whether in 2 or not oftenly 3 SD40-2's lead. Or even if I saw a different railroad I would never see it lead a train ever. I live in Utah and I also see Utah Central Railway but not where I see Union Pacific trains. I also see Frontrunner Commuter trains too, I see them along with Union Pacific Freight trains too but on a different line. And to this day Ten years later I still love trains and will continue to film then. This will be one of the best videos ever! ;)
Thanks for watching again and commenting! It's true, things change a lot. It's good that you record things now, because in the next 10 years, things will be different from now! 😀
I caught a similar sight to this on the UP here in Texas, and it reminded me of this classic video! Can't believe it's already been over 10 years since it was uploaded!
Glad you enjoyed it! 👌

894 and 434’s tanker train sure had a lot of archer Daniels midland (ADM) tankers on it from different era’s, rarest one was the single white tanker in the mix, for an all black tanker train
