Marvellous video, I've been decoding Combination locks for a while now and I've yet to see a lock with different a layout of false gates in each wheel until today, very devious. Thank you for making me aware of this variation of combination lock.
Agree with dopeymark's comment, this video was a much better explanation and demonstration of the false gate which made it much clearer how to open the lock. Thanks for this.
great video ! i never cared much for combo locks, but now that i want to become a locksmith i should pay more attention to these and give them a chance :P thank you!
i was just reading a locksmith lesson book from an american collage, i was given it to study by a local friend and locksmith, and they do want you to know how to decode, but they focus on re-settable combo locks, and another lesson for decoding safes
Nice reversing. Trying to make the gates less predictable to thwart a potential attacker is an interesting idea, yet we know the problem with secrets. :) As you have shown, once the secret is out the security is essentially gone. Thanks for going above and beyond with the detail. Much appreciated.
Thank you. Security by obscurity is never a good idea. A flaw must be told, so that the user knows how safe its lock actually is and the manufacturer to improve it. There are security measures that you can tell everyone but are still a good measure; example: the bumps in the wheel that I used for demonstration. Apart from that, these kind of locks are more toys for me - mechanical puzzles.
Indeed. I am a fan of such disclosure. Pretending there isn't a problem won't help things get better. :) Even when adding more complexity to the system, more potential cracks are introduced. Simply, there is no such thing as perfect security. Puzzles, as you say, imperfect, fun mechanical puzzles.
I applied this theory to my Daughter in-law luggage lock 3 wheel unknown combination and locked, first attempt, binder was middle wheel, moved to the next binder wheel to the right, moved to the 3rd wheel next to the shank started to turn it and the lock popped open proven your method works video was well thought out, Thank you
I finally did it and even let my parents scramble the codes for me. Then i was able to crack them every time, it was confusing at first but thanks anyways.🙏 😮
Great explanation my friend, the more complete I've heard, the diferent ways to detect a false gate are really interesting. I really enjoy this vid buddy, just a tutorial! Thank you very much for sharing ;-))) Cheers and happy decoding!
Thanks for watching. These combination locks really attract me. However there are some bad guys that cannot be decoded like the Master 175. For these combination locks where you cannot tension the locking mechanism maybe other techniques need to be found. Perhaps using a microphone and an amplifier, like for safe cracking ;-)
very clear instructions for decoding this lock. however i have a pig of one which has no resistance when i spin the wheels. lock noob told me to check this out from you which iv found very helpful sir. i shall go back and try i think its a great use of the carabina as pulling on the shackle for some time can be hard on the hands. i hope my old unvranded combo plays ball with me now iv seen this i fuĺly understand its just not giving me any resistance on any of the wheels maybe due to age and use im not sure. i even though if i used a small blade like pick to put under the wheel as a sort of shim that would give me more resistance on the wheel but so far no good. i guess we all have just one lock that on paper should be easy but it must be my lack of talent. great vid loved it as always sir you are a personal hero of mine with lock noob im learning so much and am going through both of your back vids to pick up more skills thankyou so very much sir 😁
Thank you for the nice feedback. If you cannot tension the locking mechanism then maybe it's not susceptible for the pull-picking method (like the TOKOZ ua-cam.com/video/Inhc3LUbhFA/v-deo.html). The internals here are different. Which lock is it that you have trouble with?
It's a gap not wide enough for the tooth of the bolt to slide through but it disturbs the feedback. Check this out ua-cam.com/video/XWaJmr81M98/v-deo.html
Please try this: Turn the shackle as if you would close it; it's important that the free shackle side is right above the hole. Now gently push down the shackle and test each wheel. Turn the wheel the binds (gives most resistance) until it "clicks" or you feel a little give on the shackle. Repeat for the other wheels. Maybe clamp the lock in a vice the ease the handling. Good luck - it works not equally good on all locks.
Oof, I accidentally skipped over the lock picking part because you said before we pick this lock so I skipped over because I thought you were talking about a sponsor
Also 0001 is a proper number not worse than any other combination. Hope my video has clarified the method and explained how these locks work. Also you may wanna watch this for looking inside a similar lock: ua-cam.com/video/XWaJmr81M98/v-deo.html It's all about fun - just play with it and you will soon start feeling what's going on.
Wonder where my comment went to. Sorry I don't speak Spanish although I've made one Spanish video here just for fun ua-cam.com/video/8JtlgBw_UXw/v-deo.html
This is the only video that has actually helped me understand how these locks work. Thank you.
Thanks for you kind feedback. Glad you found it helpful.
Thanks, first method helped me to open my Burgwächter combi lock in only 3min....so easy!

Thanks my brinks lock is now operation again. You are much appreciated.

They are great fun and you can "pick" them without tools. Not sure if a locksmith needs to know how to decode them.

Thank you very much for your kind words, this feedback makes me really happy. Great to read that my method could be applied successfully.
Best video. About to try it out on my Christmas present (a lock my father can't remember the combination for 😂)
Interesting demonstration, Will certainly give it a go, Well done.
Thank you. I like these mechanical puzzles at lot.
Great explanation on these kinds of locks. Just learned a ton thank you.
Thank you for that feedback. Much appreciated.
This was great, thanks. I finally cracked a lock with false gates or false ramblers. Thank you
Glad it helped.
Fantastic as always :-)
Thank for the nice words :-)

Yes, I have one bad guy, but that's the beauty of this hobby, there is always a new challenge waiting.
we never give up!
Thank you for great video ❤

Thank you i picked my first lock!
Congratulations - well done.
What do you do when all of them bind under tension?
only video that helped me ty
I tried this and the lock will bind when I turn it one direction but not the other, do you have any idea on what to do?
thanks for the great video. i really learnt a lot
Thank you for another excellent informational video!!
Thank you. You know how much I like these locks ;-)
Great video! I'm going to test this method right now. Thanks for sharing!
Cool, hope it works for you. Let me know if you have trouble.
How do you figure out the code if the lock is already open but you forgot the code?
It worked, thanks a lot.
nice tuto. thanks
I have a 4 number Master combination lock which is open and won’t shut, tried twisting with tension but can’t shut it any suggestions please.
Yes, try this ua-cam.com/video/kAlBM6UdOjM/v-deo.html
Thanx, 2 year after open same key. Many many thanks
Can we use a paper clip method to get possible gates?
Could be - I never tried the paper clip method - will try it out some day. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very interesting and helpful. Thank you.
Cheers - glad that the video was inspiring to you.
I have an ABUS 145/40, I found it unlocked does anyone know how to reset the combination.
HEEEEY!!! IT WORKED!! Now I want to do this for fun.
Thanks for the feedback - great to read that you have fun decoding :-)
Potti314 how does it work I have one Abu’s lock and I can’t do it
Danke, funktioniert😊
what is false gate?
It's a gap not wide enough for the tooth of the bolt to slide through but it disturbs the feedback. Check this out ua-cam.com/video/XWaJmr81M98/v-deo.html
thank you very much
Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching - do you have one lock like this yourself to play with?
best video
Thank you.
Oof, I accidentally skipped over the lock picking part because you said before we pick this lock so I skipped over because I thought you were talking about a sponsor
No sponsors on my channel.
Khul nahin raha hai
I cracked one, but it was more luck (0001).
I need to practice more to truly understand how it works.
Also 0001 is a proper number not worse than any other combination. Hope my video has clarified the method and explained how these locks work.
