That's how the joke is supposed to end, but Joss Whedon wanted to show that he was a big boy and subvert expectations, so he ruined the joke

Storm's Dad jokes
Originally, the script had Toad asking "you know what happens when..." about several of his toad related powers throughout the movie. All that ended up being cut, so now the line has no context.

Magneto trying and failing to stop the assassination of JFK, who is also a mutant, is the best pitch for an X-Men movie I've ever heard.
It gets even funnier when you realize that another marvel movie says that the Winter Soldier carried out the JFK assassination, meaning that Magneto lost to a dude with a whole arm made of metal (yes I know they’re not in the same timeline but it’s still funny)

the fact that magneto did not care what powers the Senator got adds a whole new layer of depth to this rendition of magneto. never would have noticed that without ryan george. accidently uncovering unintended character development is tight.

And even if he did set it that way, he may have only set it for Kelly. Especially if he wanted to make sure he survived. He probably went as high power as he could with Rogue and NY

Interesting fact about that storm quote before she kills toad. Originally that was actually something toad said throughout the movie, but was cut for reasons so her saying it at that moment was actually supposed to be her mocking toad before he died.
Which of those lines would toad have "said throughout the movie"?

I just noticed how the older movies were "Magneto thinks Mutants are superior to humans so he wants to get rid of them" and in the newer movies it was "Magneto knows how humans react to other groups of people they don't understand and pin their problems on so he wants to get rid of them before it's too late, again"
Because he started out as just a bad guy and turn into a "good guy with a screwed up past so he did terrible thing but he's totally relatable and still good"

Whenever I see anything X-men I remember Storm is basically X-men's flash: she's so powerful she could defeat all the villains by herself but the plot won't allow her to.

Watching this makes me appreciate how he's only gotten better at this with time. Not that the early ones were bad, but they do feel like the comedic timing has gotten stronger.
To be fair, storm's line about lightning, was supposed to play off toad's repeated lines about what happens to a toad, that were cut off in later production.
Oh wow, two decades later that suddenly makes more sense.

34:41 I love it when "sir" has lapses of sarcasm and just directly states when something's terrible.
Also, the way that Magneto catches the jet would have been far, Far, FAR more deadly to its occupants than if it had hit the ground and then glided/ tumbled to a halt. Stopping it abruptly like that would have caused everyone on the jet to end up as a smear of pinkish-red ooze on the inside walls of the jet.
No a head on crash into the ground would have been absolutely lethal for everyone involved, Magneto catching it would at worst have involved similar deceleration but without any of the blunt trauma, punctures, burning, gas, etc, that would have accompanied a nosedive into the earth.
Even if Nightcrawler transported in to save the child, he wouldn't have been able to use his powers to exit once he was next to the kid.

This Pitch Meeting is actually missing something he forgot to mention how they left out one of the main/best characters Gambit and completely changed the ages of Rogue, Pyro and Iceman. But I totally agree he should make one for the original animated series. I think there are some other versions too like X-Men Evolution that would be pretty easy to pick apart as well.

Every time Ryan says “I don’t knowww” it’s pure gold
With powers like that I imagine it took as while for magneto to figure out don't control. The Newton's cradle is a great way to constantly practice manipulating a small amount of metal all the time.
It's the kind of practice that pays off the longer you do it.
Magneto's office isn't just an office, its a weapon, and acts as a faraday cage, and is just plain thick metal that would resist being dronestriked.

It's not that they think everything needs a backstory, it's that the companies bought these properties for billions of dollars and are desperate to get every last penny back on that investment

Toads cut scenes were him always referring to himself in 3rd person in cocky fashion. With one liner jokes that start with, "what happens to a toad when..." when those scenes were cut, Storms line flew right over our heads.

To be fair, leaving out Dark Phoenix probably would have been a good idea for the movies to do.

Fun fact; The X-Men Official Game tie-in videogame actually takes places between X2 and The Last Stand. It clears up loose ends from both films. Including what happened with William Stryker, Where Sabertooth is/has been, a side plot where Lady Deathstrike survived and even why Nightcrawler isn’t in X3. It’s actually insane how much movie plotholes get fixed in the game. If you manage to find it, I recommend it; It’s a decent movie tie in game. But I honestly don’t know what they where thinking hiding half(or more) of the plot of these films behind a game a majority of people probably never touched.
I thought Wolverine killed Sabertooth in the first X Men? I'll admit I haven't seen that for a long time.
Going strictly by movie canon he basically stops appearing after Cyclops blasts him off the Statue of Liberty in X1(Discounting Origins for being a prequel). He comes back in the X2 Prequel comic and the X-Men Official Game though because of his healing factor.
I really hope this channel is just for you man, you deserve it.
