I've now done the Glide/Friction Comparison and it can be found here ua-cam.com/video/99srqt13Rjc/v-deo.html
Been waiting for this! HYPE
Thank you Bob 🙂
🙏 Hope it helps you decide or understand what the differences are 👌
still a great video a year later, thanks for the artisan content!
Thanks cable glad you liked it 👍
Awesome video! Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Np glad you liked it. 👍. Which pad do you fancy or do you have one already?
Beardedbob Don’t have one yet, but I’m definitely getting one that’s relatively thick with more of a controlling feel.
Just very unsure since they’re all so similar yet so different. 😅 Gonna watch your friction test now to get a better image. :) Thank you for uploading that too!
Great work Bob, looking forward to part 2.
Thanks Solus glad you liked it 👍
Thank you so much for this video! Definitely deserves a huge like
Thanks for the big like 👍
Amazing thorough review! Hope your channel grow bigger.
Thanks man 01 glad you liked it 👍
Man we love you reviews
Keep it up!
Thanks Glad you are enjoying the content
excited for the next video, my fave pad ever is shidenkai but i really want to see a comparison with the raiden
I will
Look forward to the numbers! I am grabbing the shi-den-kai (lol you butchered that one) mid this week if heard horrors about the durability but if it’s half as fast as they say I will be stoked , to buy two a year isn’t that bad , great vid !
I expect the slowest to be obvious a the fastest but that middle range is going to become cloudy and it will just be which surface you prefer as they provide nearly the same performance. I really do though hope these have a noticeable range of speeds across the range.
haha I'm sure they will be proud of how I pronounced the names 😜.
Wear is acceptable. It not like others don't wear and it's not like it's the price of a GPW mouse each time. I'm sure if we checked mouse force actuation after some use it would have worn.
Wonderful video! I think you'll find the Hein to be the 3 fastest behind the Raiden. I've found rough pads in general to be fast with soft/smooth silk pads to be slow. Just my experience after owning 20 mousepads.
You could be right with the Hien the MP510 surprised me like this. I think the raised texture means less mouse sits on it and this provides a faster glide but we shall see.
Ive been waiting for this
I hope the wait was worth it
Hi, bob. First of all thank you for buying all these pads and reviewing them, I know it wasnt cheap. There is almost no reviews on some of these pads so this was very helpful. That being said i have a few questions. I use the Hayate fx MID just so you know.
1. How are the stitching on all the pads. I noticed the stitching on my shidenkai fx was kinda bumpy and bothering my arm, but the stitching on my hayate was the best on any pad ive used.
2. I like the feel of the cloth on the hayate fx a lot so i was wondering if there was a pad they make that uses the same cloth, but with more speed.
Thanks
Np problem I wanted to know and I thought well if others do I'll take the hit and get them and share the love.
1. Normally I hate the stitching but on these, I'm impressed and rate them. All seem smooth to me apart from the Shidenkai
2. No I found the Hayate -FX to be the second fastest behind the Shidenkai
This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! 👍
Edit: I’m hyped for the speed test, I’ve been considering picking one up and I want to get the next step down from the shidenkai cause I don’t want the glass beads.
Glad you liked it and it helps. It will be interesting to see how the speed results come out if there is a clear difference across the range.
If you decide to pick up an artisan pad and you want even more speed then I highly recommend the Lipex Ceramic skates. The speed is insane!
Certainly fast feet but just watch out for that increased LOD
@@Beardedbob Had to sand the bottom plate of my G305 down for it to track perfectly. It was worth doing.
Realize this is an old video, but did you by any chance notice the friction on the skin between the different pads? I've heard the Raiden is the smoothest mousepad for skin, but it's hard to find, so was wondering if the others fair well on that area.
Love your reviews you deserve 1m subs
Thanks for the support 💪
I have an old Raiden ( at least it looks just like that Raiden in the video) and I used on my glass desk and I had down for a long time. One time I went to try and move it and it was so stuck to the desk that pieces of it tore off when I pulled it up.
hahahahahahah
The softness of the foam and the type of mouse feet does affect the speed a lot. For example I got the XSOFT Hien and mice with small feet such as the Logitech G305 or Zowie EC2-B (non-Divina) will dig deeper into the foam causing more friction compared to my Logitech G403 and Roccat KPOE which have bigger feet it is more smooth. When you test you should make sure you try out different mice and maybe do a "human" test where you just use the mouse normally, which naturally you do press down on the mouse a bit compared to just pushing the mouse with the measuring tool which doesn't pressure the mouse down towards the pad.
@Paul I know you requested this, so I hope it provides you with the detail you want 👍
I'm planning to do the usual friction tests, but I agree some human tests might also be beneficial here to understand how the foam affects it. If people have some ideas on what they would like to see and the mice I'll see what I can do.
I'm concerned over how soft the xSoft foam is and as you say it digging in. I ordered the MID foam because of this but also an xSoft to compare. The MID which I didn't expect seems to float, skate more on the desk surface as the base isn't sticky enough so atm I'm not sure which one I would pick. I'll also try wetting the MID base to see if that sticks more but I wouldn't personally want to do this.
@@Beardedbob The base of Artisan pads assumes you have a glossy surface or a surface that allows "suction cup effect" to take place (Artisan base are basically many micro suction cups). A ghetto fix would be to place another mousepad (or some sort of fabric/foam) under the artisan pad, it should stop sliding now since the friction of fabric (of the other mousepad) and the rubber (of the artisan) would keep them in place. But preferably you find a surface that is suited for suction cups.
I'll have to go around my house now and see if they stick to different surfaces lol. its a tough decision on which base to use for the supplier but imo a glass surface is rarer than wood or a coated wood so it seems more of a risky decision.
@@Beardedbob I am currently using a generic glossy white table and the Hien sticks like glue. It can be annoying since when I place the mousepad down on this table but not satisfied with the placement, it is very difficult to readjust the placement unless I peel it off and try again. To be honest they should've went with a rubber base instead of "suction cup" technology so its easy to adjust once you set it in place.
Yeah, I can imagine if it sticks that well it is hard to make a fine adjustment. I'm just about to go and slap a few pads on the windows to see if they stick, The neighbours/GF will think I've lost my mind haha. Agreed rubber base seems to be more universal, or we have to use a softer foam which will depend on your personal preference. I personally like it a bit firmer
The Artisan Classic foam must be different foam than all of their other pads, or is Classic Soft foam different in general? Does it feel like a different material?
I actually love you for that video
Thanks m0ssy fn glad you liked it 👍 and cheers for the love 😍
Lovely, would have appreciated having the name of a pad edited at the top while you played with it and gave your opinion on each one individually.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it. Good idea on the name, I’ll add that to the next comparison I do like this 👍
Great review just got Shidenkai :)
How are you finding the Shidenkai?
xSoft Shiden that could be interesting to see if it flexes more.
hey bob, you ever think of reviewing the amp500, glide38, or even the scabbard? these have been poppin off on /r/mousepadreviews recently so wondering if they ever made their way onto your radar
Hi,
People have requested some and I've picked up the AMP500 but need to get a glide38 and scabbard which is on my list of to buy items.
Let me know if there are any others. 👍
the base works like a sticker, so it will stick very firmly on ur desk if u press it a bit, but it won't stick much if u just put it on the table like usual mouse pads
It will stick to some surfaces but it is subjective. I'll try a few more and wet it before I review them.
I bought the FX Zero XSoft. It is so fucking awesome, I like it because it's faster than HyperX Speed pad but if I press the mouse a little bit I have the same control (or more) and the anti-slip base is so gorgeous it doesn't even move in my desk.
Glad you like it
Did you have to pay import duties even though you chose the DHL option with said not duty fees etc?
yay an upload :D
Damn son, you were fast :-p... hope you like it
About the mousepad sole not sticking to the table - just spray/mist a little water on top of the table and put your mousepad over it. It sticks like glue - mine is sticked solid on my desk without any problems, I removed it a few times, redone the same thing and it still ok - no problems!
I will try this but I don't want to have to wet the mouse pad to enable it to stick. The surface does play a big part.
Did you have any tracking issues with the 3310 sensor on Raiden or Hayate Kou? Smb said he couldn't use ec2-a on Raiden
I've not tried a 3310 on them but if I come across any I will let you know.
Wich pad comes the closest to the glorious cloth pad?
I noticed how ceramic feet react differently compared to stock feet. Like on my Hien the Lexip look slower than large stock feet when it's the contrary on the Raiden. Also on the Hien the Lexip don't seem affected that much with the X/Y glide difference while it is obvious with stock feet. It would be interesting to see different feet in your speed test video!
I will definitely do some alternative feet but it might be a video per feet otherwise it will be an hour lol. FK2 on standard skatez first then we can use the ceramics, hyperglides etc. 👍
@@Beardedbob Great!
👍
Hey bob, I want something in between Shidenkai Xsoft and hayate otsu soft. I was thinking about raiden mid since hien sounds a bit slow? I love shidenkai, i just think the xsoft is a little too fast.
I feel like the hayate otsu soft is a bit too slow or sticky, i have trouble with tracking with it, it's easier or better to use my shidenkai fx xsoft
Hi Bob...
I would like to ask you for advice...
Which is the best mousepad for the Logitech g502?
I play with FPS games (for example Battlefield)
Thanks. 😊
Hi,
Depends do you want speed or control?
Same here and speed
Although I am getting a glorious model O
The Raiden or the Hayate FX is a safe bet but the fastest is still the Shidenkai
Hey Wich one do u think would be great with a gpro wireless, claw grip, and I play low dpi and sens
All comes down to your personal preference sir. If I could pick one it would be the Hayate as its cloth and its pretty fast
@@Beardedbob ok so firstly thanks for responding and secondly there all sold out, but the one that u said is similar to the qck, is prob the one i like, and i have 1 question so what is the difference between soft, soft and mid
Wow I woke up to this, I have the sidenkai but I want the most silky cloth surface in one of these? Which one do u recommend
I hope it was a good day to wake up :-p.....
One of the Hayate will maybe fit what you need but I need to test them more to understand which are grippier or silky smooth. The zero is also good and might be faster than the Hayate. If you prefer speed then I can't see any of them being faster than the Shidenkia it will just come down to how much slower are they when I test them.
the most silky pad is the FX Raiden by far
Simzak I’ve been thinking about that one but I heard it causes mice to slide uncontrollably would you recommend this mousepad for something like a razer deathadder chroma?
My fx zero soft sticks to my desk extremely well (it doesn't move at all even after hours of use), that's odd that yours slides around like that
My desk surface seem to ressemble yours so idk whats going on here
Yeah, a few people have said it stick well but I think it needs a gloss surface where mines matt. What type is yours?
Virush I want to get an artisan mousepad and my current mousepad has little glide on it would you recommend this?
thanks so much
np glad i could help
bought Glorious 3XL Extended - 24"x48" - Stealth and I like it but I’m debating whether going for the artisan zero soft or the hien soft I’m not sure which one I would like the most I’m pretty good at strafing and decent at flicks what would you guys recommend also would prefer something that may be faster so I can improve flicks but idk I play usually apex and cod sometimes valorant.
Also I use glorious model D 1000dpi with 3.92 sens on cod new to pc so not sure if that’s a low sens or fast...
zero is nice imo or the hein
Nice video mate, very informative.
Will you include horizontal and vertical glides test on the next video? They say that the hayate line has a small difference between vertical and horizontal glide
Thanks glad you liked it. We shall see if there is any difference in V vs H glide in the next test 👍 if there is it will make it interesting.
@@Beardedbob I am interested. Also cross reference those glides with other pads in another video? Like Hayate vs Hyperx Fury S etc
Which would you think the best mousepad for me as a palm gripper? Should I use xsoft soft or medium?
I would get soft or mid if it will stick to your desk. Palm tends to apply more weight to the mouse so it could dig in if it has feet say like the G305.
@@Beardedbob is the xsoft that soft?
yeah its very floppy and soft to press.
@Beardedbob is there going to be a part2 to this video?
Sure is. Hoping to get it out later this week early next
Damm that luscious beard
👍
please suggest a artisan pad similar to the qck heavy large mousepad interms of friction and feel
Zero imo
Nice butcher bob :) i cant wait for the results , because i'm looking for a high friction mouse pad, hope one of these have more friction then my steelseries qck+ heavy
HAHAHA thanks :-p......I think this range should provide one for you we shall see.
Sorry but all artisan pads have way less friction except for the Zero which has about the same initial friction but still a faster glide.
less friction compared to?
@@Beardedbob his QcK Heavy
are these all large pads that you showed in the video?
All bar the shendi which at the time I couldn't get in large
How big is the medium size for artisans? Is it too small in ur opinion
I prefer a 450x450
What artisan should I go for control and a bit of speed for my model o?
What hardness provides the most control?
👍
@@xealzy7157 Xsoft, but Soft should be fine. All three have amazing stopping power.
You are so geniune
No BS here :-p,
artisan pads are sticking to my desk firmly, and it's impossible to move it in anyway without picking it up
They seem to adhere better to certain surfaces and not others. Something to consider when you are purchasing one as you don't want it sliding around like it can do.
How was the starting a stopping friction on each? Glide and stopping and starting friction are the 3 most important categories to rate a mouse pad.
Maybe it's in the glide test.
Hi,
The start and stop is more down to your own opinion and you can't really show it in tests as its just a feeling. I would ask about and see what the general view is, though from what I've seen or read there are mixed ones.
I absolutely love the stopping power on the Zero mid. It's like what the GSR-SE should have been. Speed wise it's the slower of the set, but just as fast as the QcK+ to me, but much better stopping power. It's like if the G-SR, and QcK had a baby however quality is 10 times better imo.
Any sensor issues with the Raiden? Heard a lot of people complaining about that which is kinda off-putting.
I'm still testing but non so far.
I think it’s for zowie mice
that has some issues? do you now which one?
Beardedbob i think s2 or s1
Which one would you recommend for a razer deathadder chroma? I’m considering kou, hein, zero, or raiden
I need to do a friction test but do you want speed or control?
@@Beardedbob my current mousepad is control so I guess control idk though never tried a speed mousepad
Have you tried a hard pad? I prefer speed or a well-balanced pad. The problem is that is so subjective that unless you try it yourself you will never know.
The death adder is a well-rated mouse and I've had the chroma and loved it. I think you would be happy with it as its a good mouse. The mousepad though well that's a different story and imo much harder to say. Then you add in that you want an Artisan pad which is very similar and it makes it even harder lol.
I would say wait until I do the friction test and see who they perform then decide. If you aren't sure on speed or control then get the balanced and tweak if needed up or down.
buy a better mouse first before investing in a mousepad this expensive
which pad would you say is the closest to the logitech g440?
I’ve not tried the g440 so can’t say.
Are any of the pads in the medium size? If so which one?
These are the only sizes
What are the difference between the different series like fx and stuff?
Newer and texture
@@Beardedbob thanks! I cant believe THE Beardedbob replied!!
Sure did, I try to response as much as I can.
I noticed you said the pads doesnt stick to your desk well. I guess the base works well with some types of materials, and bad with others. My pad sticks to my desk better than any other pad for some reason. Try getting a damn cloth and wiping under your mouse pad before placing the pad on top, even if your table is clean. I found that after a min or two of letting my pad just rest the water made the base kind of sticky. I left it like this for about a week and when i went to move my pad again it was like there was a small layer of glue under the pad. I dont know exactly how that worked, but its worth a try.
I paused the video to write this comment, then after realize you just said what i was talking about in the video haha. Anyways let me know if it worked for you!
I'm going to review the Artisan so I'll do this before an update. A few people have said this so thanks for letting me know.
haha np.
which pad would be the closest in feel to the zowie gsr-se? I'm looking for a pad somewhat in between a speed and a control pad but possibly slightly faster than the gsr-se
I would say check the Zero out.
@@Beardedbob thank you!
@@dkaivmd I just got the Zero Mid yesterday on Amazon. it's SOOOO amazing! I also used the GSR-SE, and QcK+. I'd say it's a bit faster, but stopping power much better. It's like what the GSR-SE should have been. If you want the speed like GSR-SE i'd say try to get the soft, but the mid is the best to me. Very comparable. The Zero also tracks better, and has less initial friction that the GSR-SE did. I felt sometimes I was moving in mud at 1st on GSR-SE.
I am French and I would like to know which model would be the most suitable for Fortnite. I use a logitech g pro wireless and a mouse pad razer the goliathus. I would like speed and also control. thank you for your help.
It comes down to your personal preference. I can't tell you which mouse pad works best for you or a game.
anyone know which artisan pad is closest to the logitech g640?
Zero
finallyyyy thanks you sir
It took a while, probably why no one has done one lol. It's here now and I hope it has helped answer any questions you have had.
Are there issues with the raiden fx and Model o? I Heard it spins out
I've not tried so I can't confirm but I've not heard anything apart from this comment.
Beardedbob ok thx
Any spinning out/tracking issues with the raiden and the model o? Pls answer
Hey, Sucks what DPI are you on and are you running stock skatez
Beardedbob 400 dpi and stock skates
Strange. I'll have to give it a test and see if I can make it spin out.
Beardedbob thanks. I don’t have the raiden but I want to get it and I’ve heard people say that it spins out and some say it doesn’t so I’m not sure
Alem2k habe the Same mouse and will buy this mousepad Too i have 400 dpi too so does it spin out or what
That's odd, I have the Raiden FX xl, xsoft and it is like glue on my glass desk. I have to pry it off to clean it.
It seems picky over the surface its on.
How is the pad in term of control and softness(in comparison with qck because that's what I use for the last 5 years).
Which Artisan pad?
Which one offers more control?
slowest one in the comparison.
Hi! Which one would you choose to play call of duty? Thanks
This is a personal preference as its comes down to what works for you. If you wanted me to decide though I like the Zero or Raiden.
@@Beardedbob Thanks and good job!
What means FX?
new version.
I need to know is the raiden mousepad faster than a standard desk?
Im having such a hard time between raiden or hien since I got rid of my old mousepad for my desk cause it was too slow bob what do you think?
I would take any pad over a standard desk surface.
raiden is popular but if you are having some issues try a cheaper pad first like QcK+ which is close to a Zero then see how that feels.
I know im late i just ordered a hein mouse pad it seems the best to me
you’re gonna love it
How do you like it?
I also live in the UK. How much Duty are we talking?
About 20% of the value.
How would you secure a mousepad to a table?
Some people have suggested water on the base and this makes it more sticky. The issue seems more related to MID foam and Soft/xSoft provide the grip levels we expect.
Tape 4tw as i'm not going to change my desk for a mousepad 😜
If you have a glass desk the artisan pads stick like a magnet!
Yeah but then to use that MID foam pad you need to have or buy a glass desk 🙄
@@Beardedbob True. Guess I'm lucky
Haha yeah you clearly were thinking ahead :-P
@@Beardedbob Actually no. Thanks for the compliment though!
I built the desk I'm using a couple of years ago. It's been awesome.
It would be cool if you could test pad slide on other surfaces such as glass, wood, and plastic! This would be a good future video and would be very informative for others.
Np I'll see what I can do as part of the review.
Did this version of hayate otsu held up?
Haven't used it enough to wear it down.
@@Beardedbob Thanks :)
Your comment about the pad moving around on the desk makes no sense to me. I have an artisan ninja fx and its actually the stickiest (in a good way) base I have. My g640 never stuck on the surface at all. Whereas the artisan I cant even slide across the desk with two hands pushing the top of the pad. I can see in the video that its effortless to slide it so I certainly believe you but did you try it on a different surface?
Seems our desks are the other way around :-p. I have the G640 and that's stuck fast but not the Artisan MID. What foram is yours? The xSoft foam did stick as expected.
@@Beardedbob Edit soft I mean sorry it was the middle option on the website thats why i said mid haha
haha no probs. Maybe the MID is the only one that floats more and the soft/xsoft have more grip
As a Shidenkai Mid owner, I can confirm that the Shidenkai Mid slides around pretty easily on my desk. However, the Hayate Otsu I have in Soft has a different backing, that is more grippy. As Beardbob said, I'm guessing it's a Soft/X-soft vs. Mid difference.
@@fuzzybaffy Hows the hayate otsu feel? Im looking for something faster than most cloth pads and longer lasting, dont wanna go shidenkai though cause it wears out in 6-8 months, im stuck between hien and hayate

I'm talking about the stitched edge which is raised compared to the surface. Heres what I'm saying as its easier to show it ua-cam.com/video/dgXTdK9kcm0/v-deo.html
2:05 - Hayate
5:25 - Hayate Otsu
6:46 - Hayate Kou
8:02 - Hien

Shidenkai or Zero seem to be the most popular

Spray hairspray on bottom of pad if it moves on desk.
thanks a good tip. I will have to see if my GF has some as i've no hair lol
if you havent already, would you do a review on a silicone pad like a madcatz GLIDE 19/AORUS AMP500/Steelseries dex... and maybe compare it to another hard pad like a helios somewhere in there. silicone pads are interesting and id love to see how they manage on the friction pads too :3
Hi,
I'll see what I can do. I've got the AMP500 already and I've got the Glide38 on the list of to buy next so I'll add the SS Dex to that list also. I've a few to get through so it could be a while. I've the Helios that's next to be reviewed as a lot of people want to see it. I'll need to get some silicon that dex looks interesting 🤔, do you have it?
@@Beardedbob i have the madcatz glide and canceled my purchase towards a backordered helios. I might pick up the helios in the future but no one compares them besides the helios being faster.
I have heard that all of the silicone pads are practically the same besides the textured feeling on top but im not too sure..so far i really like the madcatz glide compared to the qck however that xl helios has my eye. Im sure the amp vs the helios would be super interesting if u ever mention it for 5 seconds during any vid
Next test after the Artisans will compare the friction of the AMP vs Helios vs two others that I'm deciding on from what I've got in which is,
QcK Heavy, Amazon Basic, Ali Express Random, Raze Sphex v2, HyperX Fury, Zowie GS-R 🤔 I think that's It for the ones I've not tested yet that I have.

Yeah, I'll give that ago and see if it helps with the surface and the mid foam sliding.
What is this company doing? None of these really make sense to me as I don’t know what the difference in textures
It’s hard to tell the difference without having them in front of you.

just put a mouse and spin it no need effort..... talking about doesn't help us to know the product
no spinning on here :-p, you must have watched a different video.
so none of these pads are worth it
Comes down to what you want from a mousepad. They are decent quality it seems you just need to decide which foam you want and this can impact its grip on the desk.
