1 year later and I found this tutorial really useful! You did a perfect job of showing the process of creating a rig for characters. I hope you conintue uploading tutorials or courses. I have learnt so many things finishing this tutorial and i hope other will too! I never new your chanel before, but even the animation vlogs are also really interesting. They give a sense of how cool actually working in the industry could be. I am an animation student and i really really want to make it my career in the future. Anyways i want to say once again a big thanks!

Hi! So is this Toonboom series gonna replace the old one? I kinda had them all in a playlist.
Anyways I really apreciate this, I don't personally own the software but watching your rigging tutorials really helped clarify the overall process.
Still hope you'll bring back the old series as well, they're both well made!

ahh sry for making more comments but I think I got the hang of how to set pivots for different views from what you told me. But
1.Are the coordinates supposed to be sort of messed up if I didn’t set the pivots from the start? What I mean is, I finished my first rig view without setting the drawing pivots, so I had to re-place my drawing node pivots because of that, and my copy and paste pivot script won’t copy and paste the node drawing to peg pivot like it should. Is this normal? Is this a problem I won’t have if I place the drawing pivots from the start? I made a new version just in case.
    2. Changing peg pivots rely on keyframes but what if I want to change peg positions for mouth substitutions? It forces me to make keyframes for it to work but that’s not good for drawing substitutions.
    thx and sry

I'm always setting up all pivots before starting the second view. So if I was in your situation, I would remove all the keys I already setup on the timeline and started fresh which is:
      1.Remove keyframes
2.Set pivots on the first view
3.Move the body parts into correct location (correct location of the pivot in relation to the design)
      4. Adjust drawings that are completely off.
Tho it may not be the only solution here, there are many ways to rig but I mainly use this one method.
As for the mouth - i set up the pivot once and create mouth shapes on top of that pivot. If im switching from front to profile view i just move the entire mouth build to correct position.

@@juhastv thanks so much Juhas! I already understand now what you told me about placing the second view drawings in the correct peg position, but is there a way to place them accurately? For example, the lower leg rotation has to have an almost perfect peg pivot. When I’m having to move that leg in the second view it’s hard to get it in the right spot. Or if you have a second arm and second leg and you want both sides to have the same pivot placement.

Hey Juhas, as somebody who has Harmony 20, the find and replace script does not work. It gives me invalid character errors. I even tried to keep in the START and END parts, looked everywhere online, nothing. You know how I can het around this? PLEASE also tell me why the copy pivot script isn’t working...i executed the file, put it in the folder that TB wants it to be and i’m still getting errors...please give me a rundown on that as well...sorry for the questions. Thanks

As for the scripting - this dives into javascript side and could be literally anything. The best way to tackle any errors is to read what kind of errors it prompts, read through them, and go one by one on google searching for answers. Sometimes it's literally a typo. Other times it may be a missing function xD Or a bracket in the wrong place. If that won't help, it's worth jumping to TB discord or sending mail to toonboom directly :O
TB 17/20/21 uses the same scripting methods (at work often move scripts from one version to the other without any issues).
