    This was such an interesting deep dive of these styles. I never knew what the style(s) were called and to see how they are done puts a scale on how much passion goes into your art!

    Ive always wondered why certain anime have characters move while the patterns on their clothes stay in the same place. This was really interesting!

    loved to watch this, not well versed in any terminology but it still felt so accessible, and we got to see all the process in action and why they're used, ngl more process vids are always welcome, it's a wonder to behold

    I've never even touched animation software before, but once I started watching, it became too fascinating to leave.

    Thank you so much for your tutorial ! Makes me want to animate textured characters and backgrounds, it's really inspiring. I was just wondering: Do your textured elements loose their quality while being deformed to follow the animated character's shape? They originally are PNG images and I was expecting them to get a bit pixellated or blurred in the process. Thanks again for your video !

      Hi, glad you liked it! They do not lose any quality because with Toon Boom's texture tool they are only being "skew" warped or stretched/squished, not bent around curves. It can make the deformation somewhat limited as they can't perfectly follow curves, but if you're smart/careful about it that wont be too apparent in the final piece. Also, I usually make my textures at least 4k. If you brought in something 300x300 you might run a risk of pixelation.

    Hello, do you customise keyboard shortcuts for both krita and toon boom so they are simmilar? I'm having a hard time because they are so different for zoom, rotate and stuff

    • @rainlark
      @rainlark  22 дні тому

      Hi! No, I typically don't customize much, but I definitely get the weirdness. Personally, I just got used to it with time until I also threw Photoshop into the mix which makes it much worse lol

    hey there can the 2nd method work on rigs and rigged animation ?

    • @rainlark
      @rainlark  Місяць тому

      Not sure as I have only worked with paper puppet rigs before, but my guess is yes. I would think you wouldn't have to track them as much though, as the textures may move with the bones automatically. Let me know if you find out!

    Im trying to add the static texture to mine but it isnt working at all. I filled mine in using the paint bucket tool so could that be why its not working? it worked with the outline of my drawing but not the solid colour

    • @rainlark
      @rainlark  Рік тому

      No, the paint bucket tool should work. Where exactly is it going wring? Is the texture not being added, or is it just not staying static? I should mention, if you have something animated on a peg this will not quite work, and you will need to use a cutter layer instead.

    • @Microwavemeal1
      @Microwavemeal1 Рік тому

      @@rainlark its just on a frame by frame animation (sorry im very new to toonboom) the texture is just not adding at all unfortunately

    • @rainlark
      @rainlark  Рік тому

      @@Microwavemeal1 That sounds like maybe either a glitch, or the temporary color may be "protected" in your pallette if you are able select the fill but can't change it at all. In that case, you right click that color in the pallette and click unprotected color. If it becomes completely clear or something, you may need to use the scale texture tool to see if it is automatically coming in very small or off to the side. Hope this helps!

    Thank you for this. I mean this in the best way possible but your voice sounds like a teenage girl in a Pixar movie.
