How to FIX continuity with iPhone and Mac (2024)

- Want to use you iPhone with your Mac Studio or any Mac with Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3 chips)? Can't figure out how to get it to WIRELESSLY connect after updating software? Here are all the things you need to know to get it up and running and trouble shoot continuity issues for an awesome wireless webcam experience. I tried all the apple suggestions, NOTHING WORKED. BUT... I found the trick. Check it out.
This works with FaceTime, Quick Time Player, OBS, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and more. Compatible with Macs running macOS Ventura and with an iPhone running iOS 16.

Boom. With iPhone 13 and a Mac Mini M2 it worked once when connected and then disappeared. Looked everywhere for a solution and NADA. I was even told that it wouldn't work with a Mac Mini. As Nick stated - iOS 16 & Mac OS Ventura and golden! Thanks Nick. Great share! Works perfectly! Subscribed!

have mac studio 2022 with sonoma 14.1.2 and iphone 12 pro max with 17.1.2. I've never been able to use my iPhone camera from my mac, wired nor wireless.

Brilliant video, you've saved me! Have been trying to understand what is going on. Once I've added "FaceTime" to the bluetooth list you suggested, then it worked on the other Apps that were already at that very list !!!!!! Thank you. Subscribed !!!!

I currently faced the issue with continuity with iphone 11 pro and M1 macbook air. I also gave up and somehow found this video.
A note for fellows who is facing the same issue: After you follow his instruction and nothing change, let's restart your Mac, then magic will happen :).

It worked with face time as soon as I did it but after I closed face time it stopped connecting to my phone camera. Going to restart everything and see if it all works. Either way thank you so much for this video. I subscribed because I know what its like to be a new youtuber. Great video.

Thank you after days of struggling with this and the only recommendations I get is to buy streaming services good luck with UA-cam its another headache lol but I am having the real issue wit5h getting yt to stream too memberships using my Mac its a challenge until they update

So I’m saving up for a Mac mini so I can go back to college online (yes I need to save up because I’m in a particularly unique situation & poverty) but I’m definitely saving this for when I actually do get my mini because continuity camera is one of the main reasons I can actually afford to save up for school & a computer. I couldn't get the camera to work on Sonoma. I tried all this stuff and nada. The last thing I did was connect by cable to my Mac Mini M.1. I told it to trust the computer and as soon as the image showed up on the screen I disconnected the cable. It worked. So far, so good. Before then though, it was a very frustrating experience indeed.
New iOS updates are the worst! But glad you got it figured out 👏🏼
@@Meraki_CreatorsIt turns out that the wireless is way too glitchy. I bought a three-meter cable instead. That connection is trouble free. it will do for now.
Same here, sometimes it would work, but not reliably. Using a cable it works, even when disconnecting the cable after the initial setup. Long cable is a good solution because you need power supply in longer meetings anyways.

Can anyone answer, should you put on airplane mode when you do this? Will it still work? I just don't want texts/calls during important meeting disrupting..
Put it on do not disturb and you should be good 👍🏼
Hi, is there a way to capture sound via a lapel onto this webcam-iphone continuity combo? Asking for self-tapes.
If you get a lav mic that you can connect directly to your iPhone I think it should work. It’ll use the lab mic instead of the phone mic
Hi , figured it. I connected my lav directly to the Mac. M2 version has an audio port. Chose external mic in the settings on mac. connecting iphone via a connector did not work

Depends on what Mac mini and iPhone you have and what os/iOS you’re running.
Just got a new Mac Mini M2 Pro + a fairly new iPhone 14 Pro. Unfortunately I'm having this problem and even more unfortunately I haven't managed to solve using this method. Thanks for the video though. It shows it's a common problem I'm experiencing.

I guess because you don’t have a webcam, because i got macbook with dead webcam and the continuity camera feature will not work without built in camera, the solution simple: Plug Any USB Webcam and then the continuity camera will work, after that just plug off the usb webcam and the feature still works
turning the feature on and off on the iphone worked for me

I'm on the beta for iOS 18 and MacOS as well but the continuity camera on my iPhone 15 and my MacBook M1 does not work no matter what im doing :/ tried everything so far nothing worked.
If you backed up your devices I’d restore them to the last OS. Betas have a lot of bugs and things that they are still working on, hence why they are betas
any update on this w/Sonoma? I have tried literally everything and I am able to do it wired but not via bluetooth. Really annoying. iPhone 12pro + Mac mini 2023, really lame how my iphone has no issue detecting the mac but the mac cannot detect the iphone. Wish there was a fix for this Ugh. Thanks for the video though.
I haven’t upgraded to Sonoma yet because of things like that. It’s likely a bug or an oversight and hopefully will be fixed in future updates. They like to release things and fix them later unfortunately :/ if I find a fix I’ll be sure to share it

I’m sorry to hear that. Make sure your mac and you iPhone are capable. If either one is an older model, it may not be supported on one of your devices.

I tried everything on the website and your video, but nothing worked. I was trying to make an iPhone XS work as a continuity camera on macOS Sonoma on a Mac mini pro m2. Finally diagnosed it down to interference from Norton antivirus on my machine. Uninstalled it completely and the camera worked fine after that. Hope this helps someone else.

OK. So I installed Sonoma 14 and Iphone 14 pro max with 17.1. This stopped working. I have no apps enabled in >Bluetooth section.
FIrewall in MacOs - turn it off
Then it worked immediately.

it didn't work for me. I'm using iPhone SE 2nd Gen and Mac mini M2. It was working in the beginning but now continuity working via wired connection but not working wirelessly.
Appreciate the feedback. Sorry it didn’t work. This video was when Ventura first rolled out. They’ve probably updated things which caused other bugs. If I find a work around for ya I’ll let you know!
my Mac is connected via ethernet. I dont want to use wifi. can I use the iPhone this way?

iPhone 14 on Mac Studio...i've tried ALL of this TWICE including RESETING Network Settings. NOTHING!
Bummer! Apple is always changing things with new updates and it’s a constant chase as to what’s the actual problem :/ hope you figure it out!
Since the latest OS update, when you use Continuity Camera it defaults to the ultra wide lens. You can only fix this by choosing the Center Stage option but if you're filming something vs being on a Zoom call, it's not an ideal look. Anyone been able to solve this? It's basically made shooting wirelessly with an iPhone useless now.
Continuity is cool, but it’s really geared more for zoom/webcam type stuff. If you’re looking to film and make something with better quality you’d want to use a different setup to record in my opinion.
@@Meraki_Creators just wanting to use the iPhone to record while using something like OBS to pull together the video and audio. But if you’re wanting to connect to OBS wirelessly, it has to be through Continuity Camera it seems. Otherwise you have to connect to your laptop and then you’re forced to use their phone app vs something like Filmic Pro or Blackmagic etc.
Is there another way you’d recommend for people wanting to shoot with their phones and get the audio/video all into one place as seamlessly as possible?
I have done everything but I still don't see my iphone as an option for camera and microphone huhu :(((

It's so ridiculous that Continuity can't work with sidecar. I need my iPad as my second monitor for my Mac while using OBS
You can use it as an extended monitor. Just change the “use as” display settings for your iPad on your MacBook

iphone 14 Pro Max ios 16.4.1. Macbook still works like a champ. was told I have another 2 years out of it.
You have to have Mac OS Ventura for it to work.

What model mac do you have and what model iPhone? If one of them is an older model it may not be compatible. And are they updated to the current versions of Ventura and iOS?

I have done everything right and still not working unless I plug it in via USB again....and then it stops working on relaunch. Why do I need to hook up with the USB every time? I don´t get it... 😭
