Well it clearly was not a "romantic" entanglement since that wife never loved her husband. She probably thought he was easy to manipulate and maybe thought he could earn enough money to satisfy her needs. God knows why they had kids. I don't understand why any redneck or impoverished person in poverty level has kids. The majority of them do not even want children, then cannot afford them and resent the kids then take out their anger on the kids. I just don't get it. I made a very hard decision when I was young in my profession to avoid having kids because my husband at the time was a mess and I had my own baggage that I never wanted to expose to my children (as my parents did to me and my brother). Firstly, they probably have their own mothers as role models on how to have babies at a young age and scam money from the government. Also, they all know about birth control, condoms, and abstinence but choose to ignore it. They know if they have sex they will likely get pregnancy especially without birth control, and have to be prepared for abortion (especially in the 1st trimester), giving birth then adoption, just plain leaving their new born at one of those shelter hospitals (terrible), giving birth and raising their child with government assistance or their family's assistance, getting married to or getting assistance from the birth father, talk to guidance counselor, etc. etc. In America, unlike some 3rd world countries, there are so many options, most importantly don't have sex and don't get pregnant. What a tangled web! So interesting, as usual. I love the way you cut through all the confusing and contradictory information and come up with a reasonable conclusion. Thanks, Dr. Grande!
Ok, what she had with Sean is actually called an "affair". But in my eyes it was more like a new relationship. It's not like she kept it a secret from Daniel. He couldn't lose her because he had already lost her. The only else he could lose was his sons, so I guess that prompted him to kill their mother. What a great decision...
One of Lisa's biggest mistakes aside from her infidelity and marrying Daniel, was telling Daniel what her plan was. She should have kept her plans to herself. I've noticed that talking too much tends to get a lot of people killed.
I agree that Lisa was bored and attention seeking, but I don't think the guy she traded Daniel in for looked any better. Her relationship with Daniel was a sad mix of Daniel being inexperienced and naively hoping for a faithful wife. At the same time he was dealing with her infidelity and as a double whammy she was cheating on him with his best friend. So the thought of her taking his children away was no doubt more than he could bear, the last straw, and I feel for him on that, but murder? As far as Lisa goes, who knows what her story was? Was she inexperienced like Daniel and thought maybe the grass was greener? Did she jump into a marriage too young? Did she marry the wrong guy just because they happened to work together? Was her mother-in-law a nightmare to deal with? Was Daniel a miserable husband? Who knows what led Lisa to her choices in life, but one thing is for certain, she didn't deserve to die.
i'm not 100% convinced that Daniel committed this murder. Lisa was an absolute cunt, and it doesn't seem too far fetched that there was someone else in her life that would want to murder her.
@@dwoodstwin It would always be best to tell the father, best yet to stay in close proximity to the father, but if a woman feels threatened in some way and her life is on the line, then the wise thing would be to make her escape first. @@dissidentfairy4264 that’s called kidnapping. Further, they don’t say anywhere on this video that she was threatened or feared for her life before the incident.
3/11/23 A lot of circumstantial evidence, not enough hard proof!Funny, how you had to explain a VCR. I had to explain a busy signal, my son got a busy signal after calling my work then told me something was wrong with the phones it kept making a weird noise, before cell phones we had call waiting 1st time ever hearing busy😂 Never mind a typewriter! Lisa, rip🌹
Well she was planning on taking his kids from him after f’ing his friend. Not defending the muderers but it was almost like she was trying to get killed
As I recall, VCRs didn't stay in PAUSE indefinitely. They'd start moving again after a minute or two. The problem is, of course, that the rotating video head would stay in the same place when paused, with eventual wear to the tape.
Carol thought she'd "humiliate" Lisa but all she did was make herself look like a sick and perverted sex offender. If she's (unfortunately) out now I hope she's registered on a list for life.
I’ve been cheated on by every partner I’ve ever been with. And I’ve watched family and friends lose their kids to horrible, cheating spouses. I’m not saying they were right to do it, but I understand.
I agree. As a woman and mom I can't say too much for a father about to have his children ripped away but I can as someone who was a child in a similar situation. My mother was a retched woman. She constantly cheated on my dad, she never took care of my brother and I, she was an alcoholic & addict. She'd go partying for days at a time leaving my dad in a state of worry. When he finally had enough she went into court with tears in her eyes and the courts granted her full custody and let he take us from TX to WV. We were supposed to get every other holiday and summers but she never let it happen. She'd just refuse to go to TX for court when my dad fought it. My mom had a string of awful men, a few molested me. One put me in the ICU at 9 yrs old. I had a bad infection from rectal tearing. I even confessed to the doctor and law enforcement what happened. My dad came to WV to save me. The damn courts STILL sided with that witch. She told them I did to myself with a jumbo crayon for attention. As soon as I turned 16 I begged the courts to let me go live with my dad. I was refused because 'yiu need to be with your mom. Girls need their moms'. No, I needed a loving parent, not a drug addicted $lut that pimped her child out for $$$. Even today the courts still rule in favor of these awful types.

Ao,, you missed out the part where Dan had strangled Lisa - the reason she left him and began her "affair" with Shawn.. She had a tape of Dans admission to strangling her and played it to Shawn. Shawn advised her to seperate from Dan ASAP. - and that he would take care of her... Its important to mention that.
So where were the kids when this took place? Maybe I missed something, but for people that were so concerned about her taking the kids away, they certainly didn't show much concern for them finding their mother in that state.
I remember this from way back. The in-laws especially the mother in-law was acting strange towards Lisa from the first time they moved on the property. There is a lot more to this story that was happening. Lisa husband's friend her so called "boy friend" was around to witness what was happening and also the husband confided in him. The mother in-law wanted the two kids -she was obsessed with them and had immense hate towards Lisa. Also the way she treated Lisa and continuously watched her was creepy. Eventually Lisa was in extreme fear for her two kids and herself and had a difficult time living on the parents property. The mother in-law would go inside their house whenever she wanted and didn't knock, etc. She would also take photos and use binoculars constantly as well as carry around a notebook to write down the time and note of what Lisa was doing. Lisa was in extreme fear for her life and her husband's friend offered to get her and the two kids away. He even knew things were not right. I believe that Lisa's mother in-law thought they were lovers and she constantly told her son that they were together and doing lewd things. Lisa did not have any family or friends to go to for help. They had made a well thought out orchestrated plan to get her and the kids out and away from the home. Unfortunately Lisa was correct that she was in danger apparently she didn't realize things were much worse than she could have imagined. Lisa needed to get her kids and leave a lot sooner than she did. That's a bit difficult if not impossible especially with two kids if you don't have any resources and/or assistance from family and friends. There may (I'm not entirely sure) have been a lifetime movie made about this heartbreaking case many years ago.
Oof. I feel so old hearing someone describe a VCR and answering machine. I grew up with them things and didn't even think about it. Kinda like cassette tapes. I've lived 30 miles south of Tacoma (Olympia) for years and I have never heard of this place Kapowsin. I looked it up, and it exists, it's just not on many maps and is easily overlooked with a population of 249. Here's some trivia, the place was named after Chief Kapowsin who was "a fictional leader with an iron fist" for the Nisqually tribe. This was before the loggers rolled in and assumed the land. In the end a mythical iron fist wasn't enough. Nobody expects the Westward Expansion.

This crime is told with more details on a crime show on Hulu about crimes that took place in the nineties. It's interesting how the way a story is told can really influence how much compassion people have for the victims. This crime is a reminder to pay a lot of attention to men who have enmeshed relationships with their parents. She married into a dysfunctional family and seemed to get isolated by it. Families like Jason's tend to thrive on control and lose it when they no longer have control. From the TV show it seems her parents have kept her memory alive for her kids.
The police should have performed gunshot residue tests. That might have resolved some questions unless the shooter wore gloves. I doubt that it was a "spur-of-the-moment thing. The grandmother's clothes could have been checked for Lisa's blood. I doubt that a corpse with a head wound could be rearranged without having any blood contact.

It happens more often than you think. Gygynocentric society and family courts have eviscerated men for a couple of generations. Payback can be messy. 🤷♂️
@milkandcereal what an odd take. You’re just assuming this woman’s actions are valid, even though she cheated & had no problem taking her children away from their father
@milkandcereal what a narcissistic thing to say.
@@Heywood.Jablome poor men. They have it sooooo hard in society…
@@isitoveryet9525 The word valid is not mentioned in the comment you responded to. People do all kinds of horrible things motivated by any number of kinds of weird reasons understandable only to them. That's a fact of human life. We all know that people's reasons for doing things don't have to be valid. I'm sure you have your reasons for accusing people of having opinions they never expressed. Are your REASONS for doing that particularly VALID? Nope. But you did it anyway, didn't you? See the difference between "reasons" and "valid reasons" now?
What on earth happened to the children?
The grandparents would have taken them. Not the accomplice bit Lisa's parents.
This is really a sad and gross story! I notice when people are vindictive, it almost always backfires!
Yeah it really backfired for her. She ended up dead
@Cathy I totally agree
The mother-in-law just couldn’t wait to stage the scene with the sex toy. She was so over-eager to embarrass Lisa that she forgot the details like pushing pause on the video and then not putting the remote within Lisa’s reach.
Had a hard time trying to decide to ‘like’ this .but I like your unbiased evaluation, not the subject matter.
I always feel bad for the kids, both parents and a grandmother are unavailable. What a mess!

It never ends well when lovers come into Dr. Grande’s stories.
Definitely not living happily ever after.
As soon as I hear, “They became romantically involved…” I know it’s about to be a hot mess.
I love how he illustrates a VCR how it works 👍
Loved the "wide variety of services" bit. Haha. Another fantastic analysis
Boyfriend out of town, thank you for my Friday night entertainment, Dr Grande😂
I'm always waiting for the funny comment Dr. Grandes says with such a straight face in his analysis! (Even though i'm French and do not know most cases / fully understand the stories)

"🕷What tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive."(edit)
I know it's not verbatim.
For as many UA-cam videos that you produce and analyze there's always a form of deception somewhere in the mix.
I suppose that's what makes this particular event so obviously doomed.
For the connection between son and mother, who's to say what that was about. Very creepy.
Thank you for your in-depth analysis and spot on verdict.❤
You know, at the end of the day, there's never a discussion as to the outcome of the offspring.
So many children are involved in these horrific things.
And this is what saddens me the most.
Informative. I had never heard of this case. So many poor decisions made with everyone involved. The children suffered the most.
Dear Dr Grande a small break from internet access and my first click was on your channel. And I discovered an excellent analysis, with brilliant and unique dry humor. You've hit it out of the ballpark again. Cheers and thanks from Melbourne Australia.
You rock, Doc!!!!!
I always get so tickled when you say some funny remarks. Great channel. Thank you
The only ones I feel sorry for are the children.
Hi Dr grande, have you heard the case of Harrison Okene, the cook that survived in a boat that capsized? He was underwater in an air pocket for 3 days when divers recovering bodies discovered him.

a mother should stay out of her grown up son business ...
Says no mother-in-law ever 🤣🤣
@@Ioncandinarcissistic mother in law
So you wanted her to take his kids out of state without telling their father?
@@dwoodstwin It would always be best to tell the father, best yet to stay in close proximity to the father, but if a woman feels threatened in some way and her life is on the line, then the wise thing would be to make her escape first. Obviously Lisa should have done it in this case, if she had, she'd still be alive.
Lisa, rip🌹
Gee, I am old! Dr Grande is explaining in detail what a VCR is.
LOL
Am I the only one that was dying when the Dr. said the VCR would stop and say "is everything OK? Shall I continue?" Lol
Sickening staging the body like that. Seriously, what POS.
Stealing her life and separating her from her children just not enough, huh? 😞
Well she was planning on taking his kids from him after f’ing his friend. Not defending the muderers but it was almost like she was trying to get killed
Very enjoyable presentation. Why would anybody take a plea bargain if they were not guilty?
Catching up with you still. Thank you ❤️❤️

talking VCR -- omigosh i love it
Yeah I thought the video being paused would come up. I mean its hard to do when you are dead.
hahahaha good one
Here for the New Jersey bashing. 🤞🏻
Hello 👋 good Dr. Grande 😀
As I recall, VCRs didn't stay in PAUSE indefinitely. They'd start moving again after a minute or two. The problem is, of course, that the rotating video head would stay in the same place when paused, with eventual wear to the tape.
I have one of them antiquated VCR machines and the thingamajig that rewinds them tapes.
Sits next to my eight track music maker!
"They just went in with notebooks blazing hoping to charge someone with possession of a deadly diary."
Light Yagami, is that you?
Carol thought she'd "humiliate" Lisa but all she did was make herself look like a sick and perverted sex offender. If she's (unfortunately) out now I hope she's registered on a list for life.
She did apparently get charged with a sex crime (I’m assuming it’s related to the murder scene)
I'm watching this from home which is just a few miles from Tacoma 😳 in fact I drove in to Tacoma just this morning.

Dr. Grande is a fascinating dude.
I used to fish at Lake Kapowsin when I was at Fort Lewis. Nice place.
I’ve been cheated on by every partner I’ve ever been with. And I’ve watched family and friends lose their kids to horrible, cheating spouses. I’m not saying they were right to do it, but I understand.
Ma'am your name sounds like an admission of guilt for a murder case
@@vixxxenfoxxx3660 I’m so sorry for what happened to you. This seems to be more common across the country than people want to believe or admit. I truly hope you’ve managed to find a loving partner and begin to move on from the trauma.
@@Lady_Vengeance thank you, I doubt I ever fully get over it all but I've come very far. My dad got me into therapy as soon as I left for college. I'm now a Psych/ ER RN and use my past to help other survivors get help and be heard. I run a support group for survivors if SA.
Luckily, I found an amazing man who is patient and understanding of my past and has continued to help me with everything. We recently got into fostering a few years ago and that has really helped me get through so much. If all goes well this Spring we'll be adopting two amazing kids that have been with us the past year. Maybe I just don't have as much time to think of it. Lol. Either way, I'm doing quite well.
I just wish we have come farther in fathers getting more fair treatment in these custody situations.

You're a pretty funny guy Dr. Grande! 😂
The Homicidal Automatic Stopping Feature came later with dvds
Hopefully everyone remembers to put the safety one when handling a loaded diary
So where were the kids when this took place? Maybe I missed something, but for people that were so concerned about her taking the kids away, they certainly didn't show much concern for them finding their mother in that state.
If a diary is not here say I don’t know what is. It’s the worst sort. Especially when it’s the product of a meandering mind.
The clarification on what a VCR is was well appreciated for the iGen crowd! haha
I dusted off my Alabama: Greatest Hits a couple weeks ago. I think I'll stick to MP3. It was a good flashback, but sounded terrible. No doubt in part to the age of the tape.
I live in Kapowsin. One tiny post office, a convenience store, and a rundown bar that also serves pizza. Don't blink or you'll miss it

How kind of carol to keep the journal if Lisa's shortcomings
“the homicide automatic stopping feature didn’t come along until later.” 😂👍🏻
The police should have performed gunshot residue tests. That might have resolved some questions unless the shooter wore gloves. I doubt that it was a "spur-of-the-moment thing. The grandmother's clothes could have been checked for Lisa's blood. I doubt that a corpse with a head wound could be rearranged without having any blood contact.
Some people really don't make the effort to live their best lives. It's like they put a lot of effort into making their lives as crap as possible. And then they throw children into the mix☹️
Neither parent cared for those children . They were possessions .
I see nothing unlikely about a son and mother conspiracy to murder a partner .
Lol I came in here thinking I'd make a comment about him having to explain what a VCR is and how it makes me feel old, but I see ya'll already beat me to it xD
While cheating is pathetic and despicable, in this case I am empathetic to the victim. It's no wonder, she had no other escape from these evil losers.
