  • AC Evaporator removal on a 1997 Blazer 4.3L
    Orifice tube
    Receiver/Drier
Will need a 10mm short socket, lots of extensions and universal joints, a 13mm socket to take off the wheel well (an impact makes this much easier), a wheel lug nut socket, a 10mm offset wrench, two 12 inch adjustable wrenches, a 7/32" socket, pry bar, and patience. Also, the battery will have to be removed along with the battery tray. I don't think I explained this in the video. This took me about 6 hours total, but I was also searching for all of the bolts to remove.

5-12-18 Just finished replacing evap coil on my 99 s10 4.3 extended. Followed instructions including removing inner fender. Had heck of a time getting evap out in one assy. Wound up cutting in half the lower mounting bolts and it came out.
I took out the 5 bolts holding the fender on at the door junction. This helped tremendously on reinstall, especially the bolt by the fan motor. The one by the engine is still a bear. The lower two studs, that i cut, took a little to get them restarted but went on. I think disassembly of the evap body and taking half out would the the harder way to do this.

This was my first complete AC job so I was just making it up as I went. Once I put everything together it held vacuum, then recharged and it blew ice cold. Then I sold the damn thing! Ha. Wish I would have used your trick, especially the bolt/nut by the fan motor like you mentioned. I swear that took me 30 minutes to get off.

god what a pain in the ass haha,im doing a LS 6.0 engine swap in my 05 blazer and the engine is only hitting in one place, yep the evp shield so current performance offers a smaller left side shield replacement,oh boy,i wish i would have taken it out while the engine was out i guess, idk, but i dont have the wiring harness in yet and i can unbolt ther engine motor mount on the pass side and jack it up away from the fire wall, its hitting the two bottom bolts and the plastic behind the pass side head, the part is only a hundred bucks, but looks like back breaking work, wish me luck, that and a lot of pain meds for my back, then the cam swap, then wiring harness, then headers, then then then well tons of stuff.thanks for he video, hope my evap isnt filthy like yours, guess a shop vac or blower to clean it maybe,my ac blows super strong and cold,i just hope it does when im done.wonder if theres a silicone to use to re seal these two hallf's geez.

If ya want an invaluable wrench invest in a good plumbers basin wrench 🔧 its spring loaded and acts like a ratchet in tight places and is better than using a Cresent wrench give a shot the next time you feel the need for a Cresent wrench 🔧 your bound to like the self adjusting spring loaded jaw and you'll learn quick to get it to work like an open ended ratchet

Blower motor resistor. If your blower fan will not work in all speeds..it needs to be replaced. About $20 ish.

This may be a stupid question, but if you remove everything you have, will the heater inside still work or not? Thanks

Phillip Sparks the coolant would still flow through the heater core which is in the dash, but with no blower motor hooked up or duct work you wouldn't get any heat blowing on you.

Jordan Bronson haha, yeah ac, power steering, clutch fan should be gone soon. Should rev a bit nicer 🤙

@@ChevyS10LSUK ..you can delete the power steering? Wouldn't that be worse than having legit old-school manual steering? I would think that would be a huge modification. Is the basic idea to find an S10 with manual steering and move all the components?
