  • I show you what all is involved with changing out the evaporator core in your 2nd generation S10. It's kind of a pain, but I walk you through it here.

    Great job on the video. Very well recorded. I'm sure it will help a lot of people to do this job themselves. A MUST HAVE TOOL for the top left bolt is a 20" bendable socket driver.

    Thank you for your wonderful straightforward narrative and delivery. That is a rare ability in itself, not to mention while in the middle of a very problematic repair! Looking forward to laying up my own 97 S10 2.2L and doing this. Mine is not nearly so clean as yours! The S10 is such a great hobby truck.

    You do a great job on these videos. I'm getting things together for my own swap in a 2002 xtreme blazer. Most helpful I'm going to do my evaporator coil before the engine. Like you its certainly time.

    I've got a Blazer with the same evap. core and location. Mine has always been in the garage so I don't expect to have any leaves in it. But in your case, that probably was reducing the cooling to some extent As long as mine will blow out with a/c flush and compressed air, i won't replace it. But if that doesn't go well, I'll be into the same job. Nice to have a looksee into what that entails. Thanks for the post.

    Cool! Mines a ‘98 and the only part I haven’t replaced is the evaporator. at least I know it can be replaced under the hood. 👍

    It is amazing the GM ability to make AC evaporator service almost imposible.

      Believe it or not, this is a relatively easy evaporator replacement. Many vehicles require the entire dash to be removed to get at it.

      It's actually quite easy on my 03' Xtreme, he went about it a little differently but this is cake work compared manufacturers other than GM...

    I'm surprised you didn't have to do the holley side cover. What motor mounts did you use?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  3 роки тому

      I bought poly mounts on eBay for the frame mounts, with the engine side mounts on s10v8.com

    Using my manifold set- I'm recharging through the low Port ONLY- the low Port coupling is obviously open. My question is-your highport coupling is open so this way you can READ the pressure on the manifold gauge... The High valve on the manifold gauge NEEDS to be closed...BUT the coupling on the high side is OPEN for reading on the manifold gauge?
    Is that last part correct??

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  Рік тому +1

      You have to open both ports, and the connection to the A/C line. This allows the refrigerant to flow up to the gauge set.
      To fill the system, you have to open the low side, and allow refrigerant to flow into the system. You do that by opening the low pressure side (blue) valve on the manifold.

    Looks like on the bottom line has a crack in it, if that is so did it leak before taking it out??

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  2 роки тому

      It didn’t leak, but was over 20 years old, so I figured I’d change it.

    Did I miss something.? You yanked evaporator out because you couldn't totally separate the pieces. Then you have the box on the floor applying weather strip.
