    The 41mm Steel Navigator w/ Date Automatic (SSNAV-D Auto) is powered by a 26 jewel Sellita SW200-1, with Incabloc® Shock Absorber for added protection against vibration and harsh impact. This automatic version of the Steel Navigator is a return to the world’s original pilot’s watches - calling back to the pre-1980's era when most issued wristwatches were hand-wound or automatic. This model also exhibits a date complication at the 4:30 position.
    The SSNAV-D Auto is built from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel with a screw-down crown and synthetic sapphire crystal, making it operational even when submerged to 10ATM (100m/300ft). The case design features enhanced lug tapering, providing a comfortable fit and making the SSNAV-D Auto ideal for all-day wear. The increased height of the 12HR GMT bezel is specially designed to provide improved grip, allowing pilots to easily handle the bi-directional rotation while wearing flight gloves. The bezel also features inset-painted indices, enhancing the legibility of the markings.
    Self-contained tritium gas tubes on the hour markers, and full hand set ensuring constant visibility in low-light environments. Tritium tubes are self-illuminating, containing an isotope of hydrogen that won't dull down over time like photoluminescent paint, meaning the watch will remain fully legible at all hours.
    Protecting the dial of the SSNAV-D Auto is a highly durable sapphire crystal. This allows the watch to withstand extreme changes in air pressure - necessary for the watch’s use by military pilots at altitudes of over 35,000ft - while also providing scratch resistance and pristine clarity. The SSNAV-D Auto is Swiss-made and Canadian-designed for premium quality and craftsmanship.

    Hi Barry, I like the versatility of this piece, and the bezel gives it a dual time ability, so this is ideal for pilots. As an aside, I mentioned your channel when I called First Class Watches earlier today: I suspect that money will change hands soon and I'll be the proud owner of a fantastic watch. LG Bob 🍻

      @@ClickSpringReview A Muhle Panova Blau... I've spoken to Muhle (the charming Alla) so we're almost good to go. Regarding the Marathon, I'd put it in the same category as Sinn, Yema and Muhle, as being manufacturers of watches that the military actually use. Perhaps I should include CWC and Tudor in this category too. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting industrial quantities of Nato straps to indulge my frequent personality changes... (😱). Keep those videos coming Barry! LG Bob 🍻

      I’m wearing mine on a deployant clasp rubber strap and it’s brilliant. You nailed it, it’s exactly the right strap to wear it on. The basic Marathon nylon straps are great too, their NATO like here is too bulky for the watch. But on a deployant rubber it’s brilliant. A tropic rubber as a close second.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  3 місяці тому +2

      Random bit of info the advantage of having drilled lugs mean you can used shoulder-less spring bars. as sometimes Nato straps can catch the shoulder and release them

    The reason its bi-directional is because its a GMT bezel, not a dive bezel. Also the bezel is aluminum painted.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  3 місяці тому +1

      True but its trying to be two things at once, GMT and dive bezel as it has a 20min diving scale and 60 click action which isn't what you would normally see on a GMT bezel, Your right about it being aluminium and the painted numbers are insect into it

    • @bjsprogramming2444
      @bjsprogramming2444 3 місяці тому +3

      So what is the 20 min scale for and why 90 click Sir

      @bjsprogramming2444 3 місяці тому +2

      @@ClickSpringReview 90 evenly-spaced clicks per a single 360-degree rotation: each click goes four degrees. More precise than 60 less than 120.. The hashes I would imagine come from the millitary spec the watch was built to. probably general countdown.

    I have never understood the use of tritium, except for the military. Just makes a nice, and not too inexpensive, automatic watch into a disposable item. At the very least drastically reduces its value even if it is NOS. Nice watches, just not my favorite. Great vid!

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  3 місяці тому +1

      Cheers again :) I don't mind them myself but if you still want lume after 10/15 years you need to know the company will have replacements available, but saying that if you have a vintage Rolex Tritium dial the worst thing you could even think of doing is replacing it

    • @climbmaintain

      Tritium lasts 20 years before it starts to really fade. I doubt you are going to have the watch for 20 years

      @farhandin7288 3 місяці тому +1

      Tritium will fade over time. It has a half-life. I have a 20 year old GSAR (first gen) it still glows in pitch black once eyes adjust. Sure it's not glowing as strong but it's guaranteed and consistent flow through out the night.

    • @reccecs4
      @reccecs4 2 місяці тому +2

      You’re exactly right. It makes no sense outside a military context. It’s not really worth it otherwise. The relative disadvantages of lume and/or battery light aren’t as important. When you need a watch to be legible at zero dark stupid when you’re sleep fucked, H3 works well. Marathon doesn’t make watches for commercial sale, they make them for people that need watches like these, in accordance with the milspec for this watch. Which specifies being visible after eight hours in total darkness.

    It's a lovely watch but (going by the link) a massive turn-off that the UK price is 50% higher than when ordering the same watch from the US.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  Місяць тому

      Marathon US sell the watch for £1060, I have included 5% as an average for state tax so it works out to about 22% cheaper, Remember there is always a deal to be had a first class watches, You may get very close to that . The Sinn 556 RS is £1320 over here in the UK but in Europe it's £200 cheaper. This is perfectly normally when dealing with different currencies Grant

    • @grantchallinor5263
      @grantchallinor5263 Місяць тому

      @@ClickSpringReview Thanks for the reply, it was a great review of Marathon's automatic Navigator. I typically work in 4 major currencies - so probably have an idea about "dealing with different currencies."
      The advertised price at the first reputable US dealer I looked at for the watch is only $945 only £743 - at mid-market rates. So even adding a 5% state tax it's pretty close to 50% more expensive to buy in the UK.
      I'm absolutely not trying to belittle your partner (First Class Watches) as I'm sure the disparity is nothing to do with them, and not so much to do with tax or currencies either - Marathon (like many North American companies) assume that UK consumers will pay a premium. Which is a pity.
      For that reason I tend to make purchases (like watches), laptops, mobiles and gadgets outside the UK - it's just so much cheaper.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  Місяць тому

      The price is the same across the hole of Europe for this one. I do agree with buying stuff aboard I used to travel around for about 20 years but now being based in the UK, I can't order this from the US or even a Sinn from Germany anymore. PS I don't believe that they think we well pay a premium, I'm sure its more down to import tax and shipping cost plus the differences in currencies
