Wonderful video. Anyone who is firing up their GameCube for the first time in 15 years or has come into possession of one with intentions of collecting, look no further than this video. In this video you'll see about 35+ games that are well worth your time and money for collecting. Great discussion points, gameplay footage, and personal input from the man with the most GameCube knowledge on UA-cam. Phenomenal video that has me already going to eBay and creating a list of GameCube games I'm missing from my collection. GameCube collectors and newbies, this is the perfect video for you!
Thank you so much for the awesome compliment! That truly means a lot man! I’m glad you found the video to be informative, and also glad you were able to join in for the collab! Thanks again man!
@Barkley are Gamecube games genuinely still this expensive in the US? As someone who is collecting in the UK, most gamecube games are £10-40 with only a few rare games over £100
100% truth spoken here. You can definitely feel the difference from games developed back then, versus games developed now. Games back then had soul and creativity. Thank you for checking out the video!
Sold my GameCube and all my games 15 or so years ago to fund my travelling. I am going to start a collection again. So many games i missed back then. Your channel will point me in the right direction Subbed 😊
Glad you came across the video and channel! Definitely quite a bit of episodes on the channel to catch that may interest you on games to check out! Thanks for subbing, and hope you continue to enjoy the various content!
Amazing console, perhaps my favorite. It's crazy to see that a console that lasted only 4-5years had between 20 to 30 games that are classics, awesome games!!
Agreed about the console being amazing! It really had an awesome library, and there are still plenty more essentials to experience outside of this list. I may need to do a follow up "essentials" episode in the future. Thanks for checking out the video!
I forgot how good those 007 games were, I loved those as a kid. I’m so glad my parents didn’t sell off my collection when I went away to school. Going to have to revisit these!
Paper Mario thousand year door is my favorite GameCube game and it will never go down in price ever! The amount of replaying and charm is well worth 3 digits imo
One of the biggest benefits (in my opinion) of the GC Loader is that you can save all your games on the SD card with the latest firmware. Saves you the hassle of dealing with memory cards.
Thank you man! I put that edit together when I reviewed Wave Race: Blue Storm last year. That was the first shot I had in mind for that review, as I felt it shows the leap forward perfectly. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for making this video. I’ve never owned a Gamecube, but my friends did and I remember playing all these neat games with them. I bought a backwards compatible wii and have been buying the games of my youth since!
That's awesome! A backwards compatible Wii is another fantastic way to experience GC games, especially with component cables for 480p. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I'm glad I gave this video a watch because I was HOOKED from beginning to end. Last month, I apologized to my bank card and ordered a bunch of GameCube games to relive the nostalgia and add new experiences to my collection. Among them were Mario Party 6, Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GX, and TLoZ Collector's Edition, just to name a few. After seeing everyone's picks, I definitely need to add these ones to my list! Resident Evil 4 holds a special place in my heart but another game that holds that title is Animal Crossing. I can never get enough of both of these priceless gems. Keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you for the amazing compliment! You picked up some awesome games last month! F-Zero GX and Eternal Darkness are easily the 2 best GameCube exclusives that are still exclusive to the system today. RE4 is a masterpiece, and the GameCube version is the one that I’ll always hold near and dear to me for sure! Thank you so much again for watching the video! Glad you really enjoyed it!
I just found my Gamecube from when I was 7 years old in 2002 and realized I couldn't find my Animal Crossing.. I went and bought a new one for $50 and found my old memory cards! Definitely worth revisiting now at 27 years old.
Even when they make game like this anymore, they don’t make games like this anymore (resident evil 4 remake). Also I prefer GC games to the new switch versions: Luigi’s mansion, Mario kart, animal crossing, Mario party, Smash bros. Ok, BOTW is better than Windwaker, although I like both. And Odyssey is better than Sunshine.
Yeah, like dead space remake has too much story going on. Shit like bayonetta 3? Why tf would I play bayonetta 3 when I could waste my time playing mario sunshine or kirby air ride? Clearly I don't wanna have fun, I just wanna see some shitty nintendo IPs
Tales of Symphonia is definitely a must buy on the Gamecube! It's prolly the best version of the game being able to be played at 60 fps and one of the best Tales of games in the series too!!
I've heard nothing but great things about this game (and particular version vs the HD "remaster"). I need to check it out and cover it on the channel one day! Thanks for checking out the video man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy no prob man, Gamecube is my fav console of all time!! I've pretty much played every game you mentioned on here and more as a kid (especially said game)!! Keep the great work!!
THANK YOU for praising i-Ninja, one of my favorite games that no one talks about. Its pretty long too and the levels are all different and challenging with a lot to go back and collect, making 100% very fun
Of course! Always glad to hear of someone else who played I-Ninja! It’s such a hidden gem, and one that many need to experience. I loved the game’s variety, as well as humor. Thanks again for checking out the video! Hope you enjoyed!
Great video! I can’t believe I’m just getting into the GameCube in 2022. Currently my favorite games are Super Mario Strikers & the Mario Baseball game.
Glad you enjoyed the video! That’s awesome to hear you’re getting into the GameCube now, as it really has superb titles. Mario Strikers and Superstar Baseball are awesome games for sure. If you’re just getting into the GameCube, be sure to also check out my previous videos to catch more titles to check out (or even avoid)! Thanks again for watching the video!
Looking at the GameCube memory data always was so nostalgic for me. For some of the games, the years for the save files are summers of 2005, 2004 and so forth which is when I would be playing the GameCube with my cousin lots. Pokémon XD, Pikmin, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario Sunshine and melee hold a dear place to me
Yesssss! Glad I wasn’t the only one that would enjoy looking at the memory card data and icons. Sounds like some great summers were had those years 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!
Fzero gx blows my mind to this day. I think it’s held up better than any other game on the console which is saying a LOT. Could’ve come out yesterday, man.
F-Zero GX is a masterpiece for sure, and one that aged like fine wine. It really has held up better than any other game on the 6th-generation of consoles I feel. Thanks for checking out the video!
Ikaruga, Dragon's lair 3d, Second sight, Simsons hit & Run, WarioWare Mega party Games are a few I'd add to the fantastic video you put together Marchello. Your best video yet! Well done all the way from Melbourne Australia! Maybe, lets add Crazy Taxi to the mix.
Well done for making the ultimate guide for the GameCube. Only thing missing are the essential RPG's for the console (there are so many). Also the GBA adapter cable is a must pick up for me, as it adds loads of features to a lot of GameCube Games. Great video!
Thank you man! Yes, I did need to add an RPG section in this video, but since I wasn’t well-versed in many of them, I didn’t want to do those games a disservice without proper knowledge on them. The GBA Adapter cable is one I realized as I was uploading the video to UA-cam that I missed covering! Definitely an essential! Thanks again for checking out the video man, and glad you enjoyed it! P.S. - We’ll have to collab on an RPG episode in the near future 👍
Metroid Prime 2 was awesome as well! If I had to pick between the 2 games, I had more memories playing MP1, but the trilogy as a whole is fantastic! Thanks for checking out the video!
Zelda collectors edition. Zelda 4 swords adventures with gba adapters. Jedi outcast. Starwars rebel strike which is rogue squadron 3 and the 2 player campaign was the entire 2nd game rogue leader. Wind waker, smash bros melee, paper mario tyd, and both metroid prime games, and splintercell are my favorites. Many more are worth it, but it's redundant to list them again.
Thank you man! That's awesome you just picked up a GameCube, and you're rebuilding your collection! Hope you came across some titles here to add to the collection!
One of the most underrated games imo on the GameCube was roadkill, it was pretty much a poor man's twisted metal, but goddamn that game will always hold a special place in my heart.
Roadkill is a game I got a bit more recently, but haven't gotten around to trying yet. Definitely one I plan to cover in some aspect on the channel! Thanks for checking out the video!
I just came across this video and it was such a good feeling that most of the essentials listed here I already own and got before the prices went crazy and the few I don't are surprisingly but thankfully still pretty cheap. great video and guide for people looking to fill out or start their GameCube collection. Though I feel bad for people maybe watching this video in 5 to 10 years from now. If you're watching from the future, I'm so sorry about the prices, lol.
Haha nice! Glad to hear you have most of the essentials before prices skyrocketed on many of them! Thanks for checking out the video, and glad you enjoyed it!
Both are great games! Lost Kingdoms is a hidden gem for sure (one that I mentioned in my “Top 10 Hidden Gems for GameCube” episode), and Gauntlet Dark Legacy is an awesome co-op game!
you are an absolute legend, using F-Zero GX soundtrack in the background. Hell yesss GX is my favorite racing game of all time as well. I paid like 60€ for it in 2019, no regrets.
Paper Mario as a true Black Label can be hard to find! Before the yellow players choice banner, a few games got the gold badge which made your whole collection look like first print run black labels.
For sure! Back during the GameCube generation, this console was my primary platform to game on, so many of my games are from they first released back then. Thank you for checking out the video!
Thank you man! And awesome to hear you just repurchased one! I do feel bad hearing you sold both of those though. What game(s) are you nabbing for the system now?
@@GameCubeGalaxy yeah it was years ago when i needed the money. I currently have paper mario, sonic adventure 2, star fox assault and zelda 4 swords. Starting I jan I will copy what I'm doing with mega drive and buy 1 game a month.
Some great picks here! Auto Modelista is one I need to review one day on the channel. I know that my good friend @retrowolf88 wasn’t a fan of the game though when he reviewed it on his channel (link below if interested) lol. ua-cam.com/video/gwT-dGYQtRk/v-deo.html Thanks for checking out this video man!
Nice, I picked up my GameCube/GameBoyPlayer disc for $2.00 around 10yrs ago. Might have to pick up the larger memory card as I have around 40 games and plan on picking up more gems. Glad I hung on my Eternal Darkness, RE remake/RE0/RE2/RE3:nemesis/RE4, Billy Hatcher, F-ZeroGX, and Luigis Mansion to name a few.
Wow, $2.00 for the GC/GameBoyPlayer disc?! That's awesome! The 1019 memory card is so worth it. Also great if you want to have a backup memory card just in case. You definitely held onto some valuable and awesome games. Thanks for checking out the video!
I would say Ty The Tasmanian tiger 1 & 2. It's highly underrated. And yes.. I have a huge GC collection (107). I was fortunate enough to have about 15 of the most expensive games (nowadays) in my childhood collection, in good condition. I would absolutely recommend Ty. What else...? Well even though SSX3 is by far the best snowboarding game I would still pick up "Tricky" and "On Tour", not to expensive either. Chibi-Robo is not worth the currently asked price of 400 dollars but I would pick it up for around 100-150. Get all of the Bond games, the only expensive one is Nightfire. The others ones goes for 10-15 dollars each. This is the games I would recommend besides the ones recommended in the video.
The Ty games I've heard are really good, and I look forward to playing those in the near future! That's awesome you were about to nab the most expensive games back in the day for FAR less. All great additions you mentioned here as well! Thanks for checking out the video!
That was a lot of fun to watch. I love the gamecube and many games are still worth the cost. Play with the gamecube player on a weekly basis. I loved playing Tony hawk underground 2, pokemon coliseum, dragon ball z budaki, any mario party... the list goes on. Also agree double dash is the best one
I am revisiting this video after my initial viewing because I went to check the prices of GameCube games and the console itself in Singapore. And WOW. It’s pretty high. When I asked the sellers why, they simply said that the console has actually aged pretty well and that many titles are - in terms of gameplay and mechanics still hold up very well. What I love about the video here is that it clearly states that the 001 variants are the ones that newcomers shd be looking out for since those have the required video out ports that users can tap into for higher signal quality and even convert to HDMI. I think that is an especially important point given that in places like mine, it is hard to find older “video out” cable/ RCA connections on tvs anymore. Also, I wish to thank all the wonderful creators who took the time to contribute to this video - I learnt a lot from you guys and it has really made me appreciate the GameCube more (me only having played with the PS2 back then). Thanks everyone and great work Mars.👍👍👍🙏
Wow, thank you for revisiting the video again! I agree with what the sellers are saying, in that the GC and its library has held up very well, and are now getting the recognition they deserved. Yes, the DOL-001 is a MUST for anyone looking for a GameCube console. That digital AV port is the only way to get progressive scan, and wow does it make a massive difference visually. Glad you enjoyed the collab segments as well! All the content creators that joined in really did a fantastic job! Thank you so much again for the high praise of the video, and your support friend!
Where I live, you can get regualr backward-compatible Wii for about half the price of GameCube. AV to HDMI converters are easily available and cheap for Wii. Wii can be easily softmodded into reading games from USB thumbdrive or HDD and has homebrew (Nintendont) that even allows you to use its Classic Controller instead of GC controller and its SD card instead of GC memory card. So, if you want GameCube games, and not Game Boy or GBA ones, I think, getting Wii is the best way. Not mentioning, that you get the Wii with its own selection of games, not all of which are just kids stuff (Resident Evil 4 is great on Wii with Zapper).
I’ve heard nothing but superb things about Tales of Symphonia. I really need to try it out. It’s sitting there on my shelf, waiting to be fired up lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
I personally started collecting video games during quarantine where i finally buckled down and really got into it and just over 2 weeks ago I bought a silver GameCube withy Luigi’s mansion and a copy of windwaker this video helped me so much with GameCube quest 👍👍👍👍
Everytime you upload a Video its just awesome. I love the Nintendo Gamecube and you‘re Channel is a blessing for the Community. I was looking for years for a gamecube only Channel and since last year you are here and doing a Great Job.
Thank you for the amazing compliment! It's the awesome community from fans like yourself that make all the hard work putting the videos together worth it! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you man! Yeah, I realized after I finished putting together the video that I completely forgot to cover the RPG genre! I will definitely cover those at some point on the channel though! Thanks again for checking out the video!
I really liked your video. There's something special about the Cube. A relation between its shape, color, controller... the "organoleptic" factor. It's a console that screams friendliness and good vibes. I'd like to add some notes referred to your game picks: - Metal Gear Twin Snakes: when looking for the game on ebay, ZOOM IN on the discs' photos, guys!!!! This game in particular suffers from the "cracked paint" curse on its discs. Having a copy with the paint 100% intact makes a huge difference on the price and investment factor. - There's another great, awesome game for the Cube that can still be gotten for cheap: Extreme G 3. Runs like a charm on the Cube and the controller offers a way better gameplay than on PS2. The X-Men Legends games also run nicely on the Cube. - No RPGs on your list? I think you should have considered the Baten Kaitos games. - Eternal Darkness: It's easily the best Lovecraft-based horror game on consoles, but I don't think it's the outstanding game everyone talks about. Really good, but not great. It lacks character development. The plot could have more substance and better story telling. You have another sub!
Glad you really enjoyed the video and came across the channel! Yes, MGS Twin Snakes definitely has that disc paint rot issue, which is crazy to see how common that is. Extreme-G 3 is a FANTASTIC game that is a hidden gem for sure (and runs far better on GC)! I will admit, I’m not the biggest RPG fan, but I realized after launching the video that I completely omitted this genre 🤣. I definitely plan to do an episode about RPGs on the GameCube at some point though! Eternal Darkness is a game I always loved personally, but I fully respect your point about it! Thanks again for checking out the video and subscribing man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy I love Eternal Darkness and it was one of the first games I bought when I started cube-lecting (lame joke), but honestly, I was expecting a little more. Atmospheric, creative, great tribute to Lovecraft, but I think it could have benefited from a bigger budget. Anyways, I'll be checking up on your videos starting tonight. Have a good one!!
@@stonerdemon "Cube-lecting"...love the word! I may have to start calling it that for myself too lol! I think an Eternal Darkness sequel would've led to that honestly (especially now with the engine and mechanics in place, and just a higher budget to build upon everything more)! Thanks man! Hope you continue to enjoy the various content!
Re-watching this video. 😊 Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is on Steam. 👍🏻 The game I recommend, is hands down the sadly very underrated Chibi-Robo. Play as a little robot, who helps around an open world house/backyard. Like Toy Story, the toys come alive at night. You can collect costumes that invokes different reactions/interactions with characters. As a robot, you run out of energy overtime, so you need to charge by picking up your tail cable, and plugging it into any outlets. Pro tip: you run faster when you carry your charging cable above your head. Deep story, a nice hint of horror if you know where to look. The house has a basement, first floor, and a second floor, and backyard. There's mama, papa, daughter, and dog. There's been lot's of spinoffs, that calls themselves sequels, but there's only one true sequel that was stuck in Japan, but thankfully got a translation patch. For the NDS, called: "Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Rich Oosouji!"
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed it enough to rewatch it! Chibi Robo is one I got sometime last year, and have been wanting to play it for some time. Definitely one I plan to cover on the channel. That's a good tip to know when I play it!
@@GameCubeGalaxy I'm definitely watching your Chibi-Robo when you upload. Here's another good tip: When the day or night is about to end, Don't worry about your battery, cause you'll fast travel to your "Chibi headquarters/house" safely. 👍🏻
Lots of great recommendations! Glad I've picked a few of these up already. Got a few here I need to add to my shipping list! I know it's a Gamecube channel, but for anyone looking into SSX3 it's worth mentioning the Xbox version is back compatible on Xbox One & XSX, which allows for 4k 60fps & perfectly stable performance. Oddly enough I haven't beaten RE4 yet, though I've played it on numerous occasions (RE5 was my first time beating an RE game despite playing the earlier titles), so my plan it to play it & a whole bunch more RE this October!
Thanks man! Curious to which ones you're adding to your shopping list! Yes, SSX 3 on X1 & XSX via backward compatibility is a great way to experience the game on current hardware. Although, due to the OG Xbox's limited triggers and lack of shoulder buttons, the trick button combinations being divided between the face buttons feels odd. If you can get over that though, it looks great! RE4...you NEED to beat it lol. While the remake is coming out, the OG is one that just needs to be experienced by everyone. Thanks again for checking out the video man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy rouge leader for sure had been added, I've already got Metroid Prime, Wave Race & Luigi's Mansion ready to play along with all the Mario party games (bought them years ago for a fundraising twitch stream). I'm going to have to rewatch the video to remember the rest lol, I knew while watching it I'd need to rewatch & take notes. Geist is on the list too though.
Got a GameCube in 2023. I have gotten the DOL-001 and it ofcourse has cosmetic flaws. Inside it was insanely clean on the inside and worth it imo. Looks much better then playing GameCube on the Wii
Excellent video dude. One of my most favorite GC games that's really expensive but fully worth the price is Baiten Kaitos Eternal Wings And The Lost Ocean. Perhaps one of the most beautiful games on the console. It was made by Monoloth when they were still owned by Namco before getting bought out by Nintendo & would later work on the Xenoblade games. 😄
Glad you enjoyed the video! I've heard great things about Baten Kaitos, and while I'm not a massive RPG fan, I really need to give it a try! Monolith is a great developer. I will say, the one game of theirs I really enjoyed (that was never released in the US) was Disaster: Day of Crisis on the Wii. A very unique title for them for sure. Thanks again for checking out the video!
Great Video Gamecube is one of my favorite consoles of all time and lucky I got my gamecube back in 2012 when i flew to amsterdam and im just glad i got it because in the 10 years i ever own a gamecube i got majority of the games i wanted. I remember finding pokemon xd for 40$ on ebay back in 2013, paper mario for 50$, a bundle of wind waker and twilight Princess for 70$ and metal gear solid for 40€ in 2017. I love my gamecube and it’s one of my favorite concoles to collect and I’m glad i own almost every game i ever wanted and very close to finish my collection. The problem with collecting for gamecube at least in my country is it’s very hard to find games and ps2 was so dominated it’s very rare to find gamecube games and because the prices are too high (i pay for Fire Emblem 150€ in 2021 and that’s after trades to cex) so right now I’m busy working on my ps vita collection i almost got a full set of every published sony interactive entertainment games and starting building full set fighting games on my vita.
That’s awesome to hear when you started collecting for the GC and got some games for reasonable prices! It’s a shame to hear it’s harder to find games in your area, especially since the PS2 dominated the EU region as well. I hope your PS Vita collection hunting is going well too! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy thank you And yeah it’s difficult to find gamecube games in my country, I’m living in israel and back in the 6th generation we didn’t have an official importer to any of Nintendo products in israel and that’s crazy to think about it because now we have an official importer, a official Nintendo store in tel aviv and even an another upcoming Nintendo store in eilat. And yeah Playstation always was dominant in israel because the official sony importer did great marketing but i love both of my ps2 and gamecube. Yeah it’s wasn’t easy to get my collection but im happy with my collection and because my gamecube is pal I actually can use rgb scart and even got micro sd adaptor running from the serial ports so my gamecube can run both disc and swiss. And thanks about the ps vita right now i own over 50 games for it and i still got a lot of job with it.
Great video! I've had my cube for what feels like forever so its kinda cool to think about starting from the very beginning! Idk what I'd go out for these days, but I'd definitely be stuck with the prices 😅 but some of those prices are worth it honestly. My top 3 games of all time are SOULCALIBUR II, Melee, and Wind Waker! And they all happen to be gamecube games!
Thank you man! Yeah the prices are all over right now, but you can snag some quality games for decent prices still (as shown in the video). Your top 3 are QUALITY games! Glad you enjoyed the video man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy yeah for sure! Theres still hope and we're at the point where there are plenty of hidden gem type games that are very affordable and relatively available!
I actually just got the game a few months ago, and have been meaning to play it! I’ve heard nothing but great things, and definitely plan to cover it on the channel at some point!
Great video man! This video is everything someone needs to get started with Gamecube or just great for a refresher. The gameboy attachments were so awesome, such a great way to have the ability to play those titles on the big screen. As for you game choices...spot on. Time Splitters 2 was such a great game! Best FPS on the Gamecube IMO.
Thank you man! Glad you found the video valuable for someone looking to get started in the GameCube scene! The Game Boy Player is such a phenomenal accessory. Always found it to be an essential, and one that every GameCube and GB/GBC/GBA owner should have. Glad you enjoyed the game choices as well, and yes, TimeSplitters 2 is bar none the best FPS on the GameCube, no contest. Thanks again for checking out the video man!
I have to say, on the GameCube, Custom Robo is a criminally underrated game. It's recently started climbing in price, but it's still a piece of gaming history that I hope never gets truly lost. Custom Robo was my game back in the day, and the sheer amount of potential playstyles just made it so replayable and interesting to work with. I guess the universal appeal of it isn't as good as a game like Wind Waker, but if you think you'd enjoy what is essentially an arena shooter where you use a customizable mecha, then this game will treat you well. Also, for racing games, I know Sonic Riders was multi-platform, but if you have a Gamecube, I definitely recommend it. It's a unique take on racing games, and I don't think you'll be starved for content. Is it essential? Maybe not. But definitely worth talking about. Especially because the whole off-shoot of the series went so far off the rails during the motion controls era.
Custom Robo is DEFINITELY an underrated game! I covered it briefly in the episode linked below and always felt this was an IP Nintendo needs to bring back. Also Sonic Riders is another one that surprised me! I had a hard time putting that game down when I played it. I never played its sequels though lol. Thanks for checking out this video man! MORE GameCube Hidden Gems: ua-cam.com/video/sM2o21SaV4s/v-deo.html
Something hardly mentioned in the video that I think is important to note: there are pros and cons to buying certain multi-platform games if you own multiple consoles. The GameCube will load faster and have higher and more consistent frame rates than the PS2, BUT there are several series that only saw some entries on the cube. I own the Time Splitters trilogy on the PS2 only because the first one isn’t on the Gamecube. It’s frustrating but I don’t like owning series split between consoles. Same with The Lord of the Rings games. Fellowship and Aragorn’s Quest were only on PS2 (Aragorn’s Quest also went to PS3 and is arguably the only decent version of that game). Enter The Matrix was on the three consoles but Cube didn’t get Path of Neo 😕 I know there are more examples. Love the video. The GameCube is definitely my favorite console. The Switch will take that spot if it eventually gets ports of more Cube, Wii, and Wii U games
It’s a good point that I bring up to many when talking about the GameCube. For multiplatform games, it tended to perform better and load faster for sure! I do agree that it was annoying several series of games sometimes skipped installments on the GameCube (Matrix Path of Neo, Burnout 3 & Burnout Revenge, etc). I’m the same way where I like a series to all be on a single console to display on the shelf lol. Thank you for checking out the video, and glad you enjoyed it man! Always great to hear of more GameCube fans!!
Definitely games to add as well! I haven’t played Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos or Skies of Arcadia, but heard nothing but great things about those! The Prince of Persia trilogy is awesome, as are the 4 Splinter Cell games! Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome buying guide! Some great suggestions especially in the sports section! I'm a fan of arcade style sports games so I'm writing some titles down! NFSU is also my favorite game in the entire series! So many hours spent playing it especially the last part with that formula 1 car... I Cursed a lot at that last part lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
RE4 not only revolutionized the series and genre, but gaming as well. Easily one of the most influential games of its generation. As much as I loved the original RE games, RE4 was my favorite 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!
I loved Def Jam Vendetta on the GC, but haven’t tried the WWE offerings on the console yet. Definitely planning on checking them out and covering them on the channel one day though! Thanks for checking out the video!
Haha right on man! I love Star Fox Adventures, and never warranted the hate it got 20+ years ago. Which reminds me, I need to do a proper review for it on the channel in the near future lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!
I’ll be writing all of these down as I just bought a cube, gb player and some mod accessories. Yep, likely the worst time to jump in. LOL. Looking forward to it.
I would say a really good title on the game cube was resident evil zero I think that game is definitely underrated in the series and I enjoyed it just as much as resident evil one remake but solid video a lot of amazing games keep up the good work dude 😊
Resident Evil Zero is another great game too! I had a blast with it, but the inventory management and switching items constantly between both characters did get daunting at times lol. Otherwise, I replayed that game numerous times! Glad you enjoyed the video! Hope you discovered a few more games to nab too!
That’s one I’ve been wanting to play and cover in some capacity on the channel! Not a bad price at all that you got it for! Thanks for checking out the video!
Billy Hatcher is my next big purchase. Still got a lot of "must haves," but what a weird game. I need it lmao. Gun is so underrated. I had it for PS2 back in the day, and I still haven't gotten a PS2, but I bought Gun for the gamecube. Just a great game. Metal arms too! Simpsons hit and run will always be a "Gamecube game" at heart.
Haha Billy Hatcher is a weird one, but a hidden gem for sure! Gun is another hidden gem that really surprised me! Metal Arms is another one that is just awesome! Simpsons Hit & Run was such a love letter to the Simpsons license, and a great game 👍. Thanks for checking out the video man! Hope you’re able to nab Billy Hatcher soon!
There are so many games here that you can't recommend enough. Thanks for the shout out to Wave Race: Blue Storm. Even by modern standards, the weather and water effects are world class. The fact that its obscure and nobody talks about it mystifies me....
Thank you man! Yeah, Wave Race: Blue Storm is such a great game that doesn’t get enough recognition. The water and weather effects still impress today (like you said). When I reviewed it on the channel last year, I was still blown away with the visual effects compared to some of today’s releases. Thanks again for checking out the video!
Great video. I adore the GameCube, it was my first console I ever got not counting GameBoy. So many great games that have only been on GameCube and I still play it pretty regularly. A couple games that are essential in my opinion, mostly because they're a couple of my favorites on the system are Kirby Air Ride, which I'm ALWAYS in the mood for Kirby Air Ride. Such a fun game, City Trial mode powering up your vehicle to compete in a race or melee or whatever. I could do that for hours. The other game I would like to highlight is Mario SuperStar Baseball. While Mario Baseball had a sequel on the Wii and I'm sure it's still fun, the original on GameCube is my go to option. The mini games are fun and the challenge mode of building a better team to take on Bowser has so much replayability to me.
Also agree with these titles as essentials! Kirby Air Ride is such a unique experience, and Mario Superstar Baseball is a blast! Thanks for checking out the video!
I played it on the Wii, but still need to play my GC copy. I’ll have to cover that version at some point, but glad to hear it works really well even with the GC controller! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy well by best controls ever i've ment the bongos, that stuff always blows minds it looks weird but its super awasome how they work so well to make extremely long combos, hoping to see your video about this game !!
Great video. I think Twilight Princess deserves a mention due to how rare the GC version is. Other favorites of mine not mentioned (which might be due to multi-platform): Gun, Simpsons Hit and Run, XIII. So happy Geist was mentioned multiple times!!!
Thank you man! Twilight Princess is an awesome one for sure too! Gun, Simpsons Hit & Run and XIII are all great games as well! Geist is one I really enjoyed, and despite some technical issues, it’s such a unique game I recommend any GameCube owner to experience (actually did an in-depth review for that game on the channel last year)! Thanks again for checking out the video!
I have Twilight Princess GC version, brand new, still in the Nintendo wrapping/Nintendo seal! It's definitely one of my favourites in my collection. I've only ever seen one brand new copy on the market, and it sold for $1850 (AUD I believe) back in Aug 2022. I couldn't believe it. I am curious to see how it goes, and if it'll still be appreciated in 10, 20 years time. I wish I could comment a photo of it on here lol
Great video. If I may suggest three minor tweaks: (1) NBA Street vol 3 instead of 2 - it’s a bit harder to find, but the gameplay is much better, the music is better and you can play as Mario. Admittedly Mario isnt implemented that great, but it’s still fun to dunk on Shaq as Mario. (2) Pac-Man World 2; get the version with the Pac-Man Vs bonus disc. Usually not much more expensive and is a ton of fun if you have GBAs, link cables, and friends. Finally, and this is huge, Rebel Strike instead of Rogue Leader. Yeah, Rogue Leader has the better single player campaign, but Rebel Strike includes almost the entire campaign from Rogue Leader as a co-op campaign, and you get the arcade games as unlockables .
Really awesome video! It’s actually staggering how good the graphics were on this console. You look at titles like RE 4, the remake, Mario sunshine and Star Fox just to name a few. Some of those water graphics are awesome by today’s standards. What an incredible console. I feel like you missed mentioning either Pikmin 1 or 2- those are essential.
Thank you man! The GameCube's graphical prowess was superb for sure, especially those water graphics and lighting effects. I believe one of the special guests (Neil from The GameCube Was Cool podcast) recommended Pikmin 1 as an essential in this video actually! Thanks again for checking out the video!
That's absolutely crazy. I picked up Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for $7.99 on clearance around 2007, and now people want your first born for a copy. It's insane how magazines and websites lambasted the GameCube in the early 2000's, which drove the price down, which was good for fans back then, but now everyone goes on a hipster tangent and says the Cube was awesome, and the prices shoot to the moon. Just remember always to check used GameCube games for disc rot before you buy. You don't want to spend $100 on a worthless disc.
Great video, very entertaining. As for games raising in price but worth the buy I would add Alien Hominid, Simpsons Hit & Run, Sonic Adventure Battle 2 and Wario Ware Inc
Wow this was great, and quite a video to make eh! I'll look at the accessories and stuff section again, that was really helpful. All the games and everyone collabing was great, in fact, I'm making a GameCube themed video very, very soon.
Gotta love that these days you can play most of these, if not all of them at 1440p@60fps without breaking the bank thanks to emulation and Dolphin. Great video and fantastic game recommendations!
Dolphin is a fantastic emulator for sure! While I do prefer having the physical library of games, mainly because I love the GC box arts and spines, Dolphin is such a great way to play GC games in a high quality experience! Thanks for checking out the video, and glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you man! Glad to hear you’re interested in checking out the GameCube now! Plenty of awesome titles on there for sure. PS2 was also an awesome system, but then again, the 6th-generation of gaming as a whole was my favorite. Thanks again for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Yea that generation was great. It just had so much variety and charm in my opinion. Even though it was my brother's PS2 and I was young - I still have so many memories of it and after even transitioning into newer generations after the 6th, I just can't help revisit from time to time. One of the reasons why I still play retro games.
Thank you man! I'll admit, while Star Fox Assault was solid, it was somewhat disappointing for me coming from Star Fox 64. Still a good game though! Maybe in a follow up Essentials video, I'll add that there! Thanks again for checking out the video!
Loved the video! It's obvious that the gamecube had officially become a collectors piece, and i have a feeling the wii isn't too far behind. I did find it odd that there wasn't a single mention of Animal Crossing, as it was one of the main games i remember for the gamecube
Thank you man! The Wii is certainly not too far behind. So I actually never played Animal Crossing on the GameCube yet, but definitely want to in the near future! As I play through even more of the GameCube library, I will make an updated Buyer's Guide video that would most certainly include that! Thanks for checking out the video!
I recommend a GameCube controller extension cable; Or getting an Japanese controller which is 6 feet already. Another would be an SVideo cable for the GameCube. The SVideo will also work on the N64 and the SNES and let's face it that most Nintendo people are fanbois and probably have those as well. ;)
hey I came over from Metaljesus, nice channel man :) enjoyed this video! For me a strong pick on the gamecube has always been the Simpsons Hit and Run, it was basically simpsons gta for me as a kid :) lots of unlockables and cool challenges
Awesome to hear you came across the channel through MJR, and glad you enjoyed the video! Simpsons Hit and Run is such a great game. It really was a great GTA clone for a wider audience range, and oozed fan service. I actually talk about the game in my Top 10 Licensed Games episode 👍. Hope you enjoy the other content on the channel!
I have a small GameCube collection that I need to play for my backlog. I got a few more games from Pink Gorilla store in Seattle which Is know from UA-cam and my collection is a bit bigger now. I wish I played this console as a kid, I remember hating on it then and now I want to get into it and it’s hard with the high prices
Nice! It’s definitely a console that got a ton of flak back in the day, but now has a massive following. Hope I was able to provide some recommendations for you to try adding to your library! Thanks again for checking out the video!
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed the video, and always appreciate your support! Now that this video is wrapped up, I’m finally catching up on your latest video release 👍
Since Fire Emblem and Chibi Robo are significantly pricier games, I didn't want to add them to this list. Excellent games, no question! But very pricey to deem as an "essential" for this buyer's guide lol. Custom Robo I thought of adding after wrapping up the video lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
Paper Mario is probably my favorite Nintendo franchise next to Wario. But I’ll try to forget about Sunshine 🤣 I-Ninja truly is so good on any platform. Sonic Adventure 2! Now you’re talking! That soundtrack alone is 🔥 Sega was absolutely nailing it that generation(software speaking of course lol) I knew F-Zero GX would be on the list! And well deserved to be mentioned. Star fox Adventure is still on my want to play list. Looks so good! Awesome Collins as well. Some really solid picks all around. What a great buyers guide! Thanks for sharing man 🤘
I've always wanted to get into the Paper Mario franchise back in the day. My first one was Super Paper Mario, and I really enjoyed that game! Paper Mario TTYD is really surprising me to how much I'm getting into it! Haha Sunshine is definitely a love-hate relationship game for me. I-Ninja is so good! Glad to hear you played that one! Sonic Adventure 2 HAD to be mentioned! Easily one of my most played GC games! The soundtrack is sublime! Sega really had fantastic software that generation, especially on the GameCube! I still need to play Billy Hatcher also. F-Zero GX is a masterpiece, and this list would not have been complete without it lol. Star Fox Adventures is a game I HIGHLY recommend! Glad you enjoyed the video man, and thank you for checking it out!
Almost got worried when you got to the end of the extreme sports section and didn’t mention NBA Street V2. Personally one of my favorite sports games, or maybe even games of all time. Just simple pure arcade off the wall fun
Oh man, NBA Street Vol 2 is the absolutely best basketball game! Countless hours were spent playing that game, and was one I had to mention here. I appreciate you checking out the video!
No problem man. I’m an amateur collector and I decided to start on one of my favorite consoles growing up, so finding your channel, and especially this video has really helped a ton! Keep up the great work 👍🏾 🙏🏾
Thank you for this list my guy! I’ve been watching a lot and everyone lists the same games that I’ve already got and played and love. But yours list games that I’ve never tried and played and they are fantastic! You gained a new sub.
Thank you man! That means a lot! I try to add variety to my lists to stand out from the usual expected picks. Feel free to check out the various other lists/videos! You’ll definitely come across lesser known GameCube games as well! Thanks again for the sub, and glad you enjoyed the video!
Been collecting GC game in the past month or so and have amassed a decent collection that includes: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, PSO Episode 1/2 Plus and Mario Party 5/7 alongside a handful of cheapo ones. I've been targeting the pricey ones firstly and kinda working my way down. However, if there's a deal even for the cheapo ones I'll go for it.
That’s a hefty start to your collection, and fully approve 👍. Smart move going for the pricey ones first too! Good luck on your collecting! Definitely share some updates you get!
Thanks again man!
yea have fun spendingh $100 per game...
@Barkley are Gamecube games genuinely still this expensive in the US? As someone who is collecting in the UK, most gamecube games are £10-40 with only a few rare games over £100
@@shirtsgames5736Depends on the game. If you're gonna do it just dive in now before it's too late.
Back when video games were actual video games no BS .. . they were just made different better you can feel the love the developers put into the games
100% truth spoken here. You can definitely feel the difference from games developed back then, versus games developed now. Games back then had soul and creativity. Thank you for checking out the video!
Right GameCube games are all amazing I haven’t played one that I had a problem with
There’s still plenty of great games lmao.
Indie games truly fill this roll games are generally made to make the most money rather than be the best possible experience other than indies that is
@@GameCubeGalaxy What about indie titles and Modern Nintendo games?
Sold my GameCube and all my games 15 or so years ago to fund my travelling. I am going to start a collection again. So many games i missed back then. Your channel will point me in the right direction
Subbed 😊
They really were awesome games! Definitely enjoy revisiting them man! Thanks for checking out the video!
Paper Mario thousand year door is my favorite GameCube game and it will never go down in price ever! The amount of replaying and charm is well worth 3 digits imo
I can see why it’s so highly regarded amongst the GameCube community! Thanks for checking out the video!
Well this aged like shlt
One of the biggest benefits (in my opinion) of the GC Loader is that you can save all your games on the SD card with the latest firmware. Saves you the hassle of dealing with memory cards.
Oh wow, I didn’t know they added that feature! Thanks for sharing that! Also, thanks for checking out the video!
Picoboot is better in that you can still use your discs and your game backups.
The transition between Wave Race 64 and Blue Storm footage at 10:29 is so crisp that I had to put the video back to watch it again. Gorgeous editing.
Thank you man! I put that edit together when I reviewed Wave Race: Blue Storm last year. That was the first shot I had in mind for that review, as I felt it shows the leap forward perfectly. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I was thinking the same thing
That's awesome! Definitely enjoy reliving that nostalgia you just found! Thanks for also checking out the video!
Peak nostalgia. The GC was really flawless. All excellent games....they don't make them like this anymore
100% facts spoken here! Thanks for checking out the video!
I love dolphin on my Xbox series S. almost have the full gamecube library now and it plays in 4k at 60fps.
Nice! Sounds like a good way to play GameCube games in 4K! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy yeah thanks for the video! lots of good recommendations!

Of course! Always glad to hear of someone else who played I-Ninja! It’s such a hidden gem, and one that many need to experience. I loved the game’s variety, as well as humor. Thanks again for checking out the video! Hope you enjoyed!

Absolutely! One of my most highly replayed games on the GC! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Yes! All great additions to the list! Thank you for the awesome compliment about the video! Always appreciate the support!
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes!
Amazing sequel to the original Prime, great boss battles, lore and power ups.
Metroid Prime 2 was awesome as well! If I had to pick between the 2 games, I had more memories playing MP1, but the trilogy as a whole is fantastic! Thanks for checking out the video!
Plus one of the best boss battles of all time, the one in your username lol. MP2 was actually my first Metroid game.
All amazing games you just listed there 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!
Really awesome video! Just picked up a GameCube to relive the fun and have been building up my collection

I'm happy to see Viewtiful Joe getting mentioned! 😊 Its one of the few games i replayed multiply times as a kid.
Such an awesome game! Thanks for checking out the video!
One of the most underrated games imo on the GameCube was roadkill, it was pretty much a poor man's twisted metal, but goddamn that game will always hold a special place in my heart.

Though I feel bad for people maybe watching this video in 5 to 10 years from now.

Lost Kingdoms series and Gauntlet Dark Legacy are some of my favorite titles!

Top vid. Ive just rebought one. I really regret selling chibi robo and fire emblem all those years ago

Always awesome to hear of more GameCube fans! Thanks for checking out the video!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I agree, many GC games are still worth the cost for sure. I really appreciate you checking out the video!
My favorite Gamcube game is Tales of Symphonia, such a beaugiful jrpg, with wonderful graphics, addictive gameplay and memorable characters.

I really liked your video. There's something special about the Cube. A relation between its shape, color, controller... the "organoleptic" factor. It's a console that screams friendliness and good vibes. I'd like to add some notes referred to your game picks:
- Metal Gear Twin Snakes: when looking for the game on ebay, ZOOM IN on the discs' photos, guys!!!!
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is on Steam. 👍🏻
The game I recommend, is hands down the sadly very underrated Chibi-Robo.
I completely agree with you on wave race it's awesome I just bought it for 10 bucks on ebay
That’s $10 well spent! Such a great game!
Great Video
Gamecube is one of my favorite consoles of all time and lucky I got my gamecube back in 2012 when i flew to amsterdam and im just glad i got it because in the 10 years i ever own a gamecube i got majority of the games i wanted.
@@GameCubeGalaxy thank you
And yeah it’s difficult to find gamecube games in my country, I’m living in israel and back in the 6th generation we didn’t have an official importer to any of Nintendo products in israel and that’s crazy to think about it because now we have an official importer, a official Nintendo store in tel aviv and even an another upcoming Nintendo store in eilat.
Marcello this was an absolutely fantastic video and the amount of work you put into it was incredible! You knocked it out of the park brotha!
Thank you, Matt! Glad you really enjoyed the video, and I glad you could collab in this video! Always appreciate the support man!
NBA street and vol 2 were my childhood. I seen it in your collection
Both are excellent games, especially the 2nd game! Thanks for checking out the video!
Gotta say - no love for Chibi Robo was a real surpise! The game is pricey but so so good
I actually just got the game a few months ago, and have been meaning to play it!
Something hardly mentioned in the video that I think is important to note:
there are pros and cons to buying certain multi-platform games if you own multiple consoles.
Enter The Matrix was on the three consoles but Cube didn’t get Path of Neo 😕
I know there are more examples.
I would also add Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Skies of Arcadia, the Prince of Persia trilogy, the Splinter Cell trilogy to the list
Thank you man! Glad you found value in the sports section as well! NSFU is such an awesome game!
I didn't like resident evil games until Resident Evil 4 I didn't like how they were on the original playstation and PS2 but this changed everything
RE4 not only revolutionized the series and genre, but gaming as well. Easily one of the most influential games of its generation. As much as I loved the original RE games, RE4 was my favorite 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!
Honestly other than the Mario family I still love the wrestling offerings on the cube
I loved Def Jam Vendetta on the GC, but haven’t tried the WWE offerings on the console yet. Definitely planning on checking them out and covering them on the channel one day though! Thanks for checking out the video!
I saw star fox adventures in the thumbnail and thought "this guy gets it"
Haha right on man! I love Star Fox Adventures, and never warranted the hate it got 20+ years ago. Which reminds me, I need to do a proper review for it on the channel in the near future lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance is over $300 mint. Crazy.
Definitely crazy how much that one shot up in price! Thanks for checking out the video!
I’ll be writing all of these down as I just bought a cube, gb player and some mod accessories. Yep, likely the worst time to jump in. LOL. Looking forward to it.
Glad you discovered some games to check out! Thanks for checking out the video!
Atv 2 quad power racing is my favorite and good find. Got one in 2024 for 16.00$
That’s one I’ve been wanting to play and cover in some capacity on the channel!
Glad to see someone else giving pac man world 2 some love. Amazing game
DK Jungle Beat its a basic for the GC - best controls ever for gamers and non gamers love it so much
I played it on the Wii, but still need to play my GC copy.
I’m surprised no one mentioned Twilight Princess
same, especially if the video is called "essential buyer's guide"
This so made me want to play my cube again! Great video
Thank you man! It's always a great time to play some GC games!
Glad you enjoyed the video man! Those tweaks are perfectly fine to mention as additional options for sure! 👍
What an enjoyable, welldone and informative video! Thank u! ❤❤❤
Thank you man! Glad you really enjoyed the video, and found it informative!
@@GameCubeGalaxy 🙂🙏
Great video, very entertaining. As for games raising in price but worth the buy I would add Alien Hominid, Simpsons Hit & Run, Sonic Adventure Battle 2 and Wario Ware Inc
Thank you! Yes, those are all worthy additions as well! Alien Hominid I just got recently and really enjoying it. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow this was great, and quite a video to make eh! I'll look at the accessories and stuff section again, that was really helpful. All the games and everyone collabing was great, in fact, I'm making a GameCube themed video very, very soon.
Thank you man! Glad you found value in the video, and look forward to your GameCube-themed video in the near future as well!
Love Pikmin, but prefer the second one personally. Great video.
I’ve heard Pikmin 2 is a big step forward, and need to try it sometime. Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video man! Grew up with the PS2 adoring it so I didn't check the GameCube out but I'm very tempted to buy it now. Thanks a ton.
@@vinsmokesanji9818 That’s a great reason to keep playing retro games. 👍
Awesome games and awesome video! I’m surprised that Star Fox assault wasn’t mentioned at all. While not the best, it was still a solid game.
Thank you man! I'll admit, while Star Fox Assault was solid, it was somewhat disappointing for me coming from Star Fox 64. Still a good game though! Maybe in a follow up Essentials video, I'll add that there! Thanks again for checking out the video!
Such a great video dude! I just started collecting for the GameCube and this list helps so much. Great information 😊
Thank you man! Glad you found the list helpful! Hope you found some awesome games to nab next!
The SVideo will also work on the N64 and the SNES and let's face it that most Nintendo people are fanbois and probably have those as well. ;)
Very good recommendations! Appreciate you chiming in with that, and checking out this video!
hey I came over from Metaljesus, nice channel man :) enjoyed this video!
The memories RE4 and nightfire ❤
Amazing games! Thanks for checking out the video!
Great guide man! Thanks for the vid :)
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed the video, and always appreciate your support! Now that this video is wrapped up, I’m finally catching up on your latest video release 👍
No Fire Emblem or Custom Robo mentions?! Chibi Robo?!!
Metroid Prime, MGS Twin Snakes, and RE4 are top tier.
100% agreed! 👍
Makes me upset as a kid I didn't play Zelda or Metroid. Feel like I missed out on some superb memories
It was an amazing time growing up with these. I will say though, they’re just as awesome now as they were then. Thank you for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxyI got to play Metroid prime remastered for the first time and it blew me away. Top 5 all time for me
