I'm proud to of been an early adopter. I always had faith in it, believe it or not. I reread this one game magazine (I believe it was Game Informer, but idk for sure) where they showed the games announced for the Gamecube and XBox prior to their releases and I was DROOLING over the Gamecube's lineup and scoffing at XBox's....hahaha I was SO ready. I got mine as a birthday gift with a copy of Resident Evil and a memory card. I remember renting Starfox Adventures and Animal Crossing from Block Buster like CRAZY and playing the heck out of those. I had so many Gamecube games man...such a damn solid system. Easily one of my top 3 favorite gaming consoles...real competitive between it, Dreamcast (my fave), and PS2.
Well if you think about it at the time, if you werent a Nintendo fan the PS2 or Xbox made a little more sense since the GameCube didn't get so much third party support like the other 2 consoles, GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas were the games to play back in the day, especially as a kid, since Mario and Zelda weren't the top notch games everyone wanted to play and it wasn't "cool" per say at the time.

I think a highly underrated game was Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. This game is so awesome, even if you don't love golf as a sport. The golfing mechanics were spot-on, and the design of the golf courses was insane!
I got a Wii recently to catch up with GC and Wii games. I never had them. I've realised what a loss it was to not even notice this console was around at the time because in my country everything was PS2 marketing when it came to gaming.

I didn't really like GX more than X. The lower your shield got, the more your speed went down, so if you crash a lot, you'll be in last place until the nest shield recharge.
It is a MUST to get the Wavebird GameCube controller. It's wireless, it's sensitive, it's bulky, and it is so comfortable. Thank you so much for covering it.
I will never understand the hate that Sunshine gets. I grew up with an NES so I'm no stranger to the series' origins and Sunshine felt like an amazing progression from SM64! The movement was dialed, the world was beautiful and fully realized in detail, the levels were fun, the stars were challenging, and FLUDD was not only original but really cool! I absolutely loved Galaxy 1 and 2, but for me Sunshine was a much better experience and is a game I actually want to go back and play again and again.

Most of the best games on the system are on this list as the Gamecube was one of the weakest consoles for quality Nintendo software ever. Most Nintendo games on GC were mediocre or average *giggles* basically sucky 1st parties. 3rd party games > 1st party games on GC
Be careful when claiming "HD out" while yes both the GameCube and the Wii can output at Progressive Scan the resolution is still 480p and is recognized as SD instead of HD. Depending on the territory some people might say 576p is the minimum for high-standard but it's universally accepted that 720p or higher is what should be counted as HD.

This video cost me SOOOO much money lol. I always dreamed of playing my precious Pokémon Sapphire on the big screen. I never had a GameCube growing up and never knew about the GameBoy player until I found your channel. I have now dropped $100 on a FLAWLESS condition GameBoy player with the disc, $80 on a very nice DOL-001 console and controller and will now soon be buying the eon GCHD HDMI adapter to clean the visuals up. But I’m loving it so far! Thanks for letting me realize my childhood dreams could come true and now I’ve been introduced to the world of GameCube and I love it. Keep up the good work.

So I just found my original gamecube. I was looking forward to picking up some games for it, but DAMN! This is a pretty expensive system to collect for. A lot of good games are selling for $40, 50 60+!
Yeah its a pain. I started saving up and bought some classics like Metroid prime, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros and Twilight princess. These games cost me a lot. I even sprang for the gb player and start up disc. But its so much fun. The funniest thing is that the controller is at times more expensive than the actual console.
Yaeven I guess it depends where you are looking and what you are after. I picked up Viewtiful Joe for £2 (US version, bargain since I'm from the UK), F-ZERO GX for £4 on ebay and Beach Spikers for 99p. But others like Fire Emblem: Insert subtitle I can't remember, Star Fox Assault, and Ikaruga you have to pay quite a bit for. Super Smash Bros. Melee isn't hard to find, just shops love to overprice them.
Yaeven I know that feel, back in 2011 I bought Super Mario Sunshine at Gamestop for $15. Well I eventually, and stupidly, sold my GCN with my copy of SMS on eBay. And last year I wanted to play SMS again so I went on eBay and bought a copy, paying the better half of $30. Sadly that was the cheapest I could find it.
Star Fox Adventures should have been on here. It was an early title and highly underrated. Such a beautiful Rare game, not as humorous as others but so charming.

I used to have three game cubes I had the silver my older brother had the black and we kept the indigo at my dad's ( which was our first one ) honestly I know a lot of people like the ps2 or Xbox original better than the game cube but the gamecube is just special to me because it was my first system I'm 16 now and recently my mom gave my game cubes to my cousins I wish I still had them but it makes me happy to know that new memories are going to be made with them who knows maybe I'll get them back some day
Thank you for showing Eternal Darkness. One of the best games I played on the Gamecube. I wish they would make another in the series. One MUST HAVE is Starfox: Adventures, that game is amazing, and I think the first Starfox in featuring exploring on foot and meelee combat, Starfox: Assault is great too
Fun fact for those that don't know. This game was developed by rare and rare was actually sold to Microsoft like a day before or the day of this games release. I'd have to double check but I'm pretty sure it's the day of.
It wasn't the last game rare made for Nintendo though as they were still allowed to make games for the Nintendo DS and other handhelds as Xbox has not yet dipped into the handheld market

While RE 4 was a beautifull short time exclusive for GC, i will recommend the Wii versión, the control is perfect with the wii motion. PS2 version is pretty dissapointing.

I am a huge fan of Metal Jesus, I grew up in the 80s and was in HS in the early 90s so these games are close to My heart! I have to say one of my favorite games for my GameCube is PAC-Man World Rally HD, it is so awesome! Very fun levels and so fun to race your friends! If you haven’t played it please try it you won’t be disappointed! 😎 I would venture to say it rivals with Mario kart in my opinion, great graphics and vehicle choices!

To be honest, Resident Evil 4 is better on PS2 because of the extra stuff alone. The same goes for Code Veronica X when compared to the Dreamcast version. Of course, both of those games have been remastered and reissued to newer consoles anyway. If we're talking about RE on GameCube, both Zero and REmake are excellent on GameCube.
I'm gonna get crucified for this, but i prefer Mario Sunshine over Mario 64, yeah it has some bullshit hard parts, but it's much more creative and memorable imo
Love your videos. A pet peeve of mine is that everyone highlights the wave bird but always forget to mention that it doesn't feature rumble. I think Res4 used it to sense traps or items on the ground.

Chris Best I found it at a garage sale for $5 a couple years ago. I know it's hard to find Gamcube games cheap but just be patient and constantly check garage sales and Craigslist.

im saying most Tales games are pretty damn good compared to Skies. i found skies to just be a generic cash in. where as tales of symphonia actually feels like work was put into it.
I bought a Gamecube solely for Animal Crossing. I'm not sure I ever had a ton of games for my system, but I loved and completed Super Mario Sunshine and Tales of Symphonia as well. I'm sure there were others but Animal Crossing is the very reason I ever went and bought one in the first place. At that time I was all about Playstation and basically nothing else ever since we jumped from a Sega Genesis to a PS1. I'm so glad I did, because it opened up my world back into Nintendo games so I could follow and get excited about the Wii and Switch as well!

This video cost me SOOOO much money lol. I always dreamed of playing my precious Pokémon Sapphire on the big screen. I never had a GameCube growing up and never knew about the GameBoy player until I found your channel. I have now dropped $100 on a FLAWLESS condition GameBoy player with the disc, $80 on a very nice DOL-001 console and controller and will now soon be buying the eon GCHD HDMI adapter to clean the visuals up. But I’m loving it so far! Thanks for letting me realize my childhood dreams could come true and now I’ve been introduced to the world of GameCube and I love it. Keep up the good work.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one that actually loved Sonic Adventure 2 Battle! And yeah, I spent most of my time after beating the game in the Chao Garden, it was fantastic!
So I just found my original gamecube. I was looking forward to picking up some games for it, but DAMN! This is a pretty expensive system to collect for. A lot of good games are selling for $40, 50 60+!
Yeah its a pain. I started saving up and bought some classics like Metroid prime, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros and Twilight princess. These games cost me a lot. I even sprang for the gb player and start up disc. But its so much fun. The funniest thing is that the controller is at times more expensive than the actual console.

Yaeven I guess it depends where you are looking and what you are after. I picked up Viewtiful Joe for £2 (US version, bargain since I'm from the UK), F-ZERO GX for £4 on ebay and Beach Spikers for 99p.
But others like Fire Emblem: Insert subtitle I can't remember, Star Fox Assault, and Ikaruga you have to pay quite a bit for. Super Smash Bros. Melee isn't hard to find, just shops love to overprice them.
A friend of mine got Mario Kart: Double Dash pre-owned from Canada for like 90$ which is quite expensive. Case and manual were in good condition tho'.
Yaeven I know that feel, back in 2011 I bought Super Mario Sunshine at Gamestop for $15. Well I eventually, and stupidly, sold my GCN with my copy of SMS on eBay. And last year I wanted to play SMS again so I went on eBay and bought a copy, paying the better half of $30. Sadly that was the cheapest I could find it.

Resident Evil remake and RE Zero sold the Gamecube for me!
I used to have three game cubes I had the silver my older brother had the black and we kept the indigo at my dad's ( which was our first one ) honestly I know a lot of people like the ps2 or Xbox original better than the game cube but the gamecube is just special to me because it was my first system I'm 16 now and recently my mom gave my game cubes to my cousins I wish I still had them but it makes me happy to know that new memories are going to be made with them who knows maybe I'll get them back some day

Fun fact for those that don't know. This game was developed by rare and rare was actually sold to Microsoft like a day before or the day of this games release. I'd have to double check but I'm pretty sure it's the day of.
It wasn't the last game rare made for Nintendo though as they were still allowed to make games for the Nintendo DS and other handhelds as Xbox has not yet dipped into the handheld market

To be fair those are probably the best versions of those games in the 6th gen especially Resi 4 but then again they are kind of not cheap.

While RE 4 was a beautifull short time exclusive for GC, i will recommend the Wii versión, the control is perfect with the wii motion. PS2 version is pretty dissapointing.

i recently started collecting gamecubes and games since i just played halo 2 for my entire childhood.
so far i have 4 Platinums, one Indigo, qnd one black gamecube.
2/3 platinum, 2 black, 2 orange spice, 1 silver wavebird, both sm4sh controllers, an indigo, and 2 custom controllers, and the bongos.
i also have two indigo and transparent controllers coming in today.
as far as games I've collected a bunch:

The e-Reader is also compatible with some Gamecube-games and is a pretty awsome device.

To be honest, Resident Evil 4 is better on PS2 because of the extra stuff alone. The same goes for Code Veronica X when compared to the Dreamcast version. Of course, both of those games have been remastered and reissued to newer consoles anyway. If we're talking about RE on GameCube, both Zero and REmake are excellent on GameCube.
I'm gonna get crucified for this, but i prefer Mario Sunshine over Mario 64, yeah it has some bullshit hard parts, but it's much more creative and memorable imo

I bought a Gamecube solely for Animal Crossing. I'm not sure I ever had a ton of games for my system, but I loved and completed Super Mario Sunshine and Tales of Symphonia as well. I'm sure there were others but Animal Crossing is the very reason I ever went and bought one in the first place. At that time I was all about Playstation and basically nothing else ever since we jumped from a Sega Genesis to a PS1. I'm so glad I did, because it opened up my world back into Nintendo games so I could follow and get excited about the Wii and Switch as well!
