"It's at times like this that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young." "Why? What did she tell you?" "I don't know. I didn't listen."

It’s amazing how a story can take you back to such vivid memories from childhood! The emotions it evokes are so powerful, aren’t they? That moment when she walked in the room really hits differently-it’s like it speaks to something deep inside. What do you think it is about that particular scene that makes it so unforgettable? It's funny how our first impressions can be so different from what the video actually is! What did you think about the story once you gave it a chance? Did it surprise you?
I like how the artists don't mind helping us out of the dark and giving us a clear picture of the concept in the film. I'm not too familiar with all these children's tales and got that they probably all personified one tale but didn't quite understand how. Then the credits rolled. Terrific!
Yeah the penny dropped when the blind guy was talking-but I do like how they explained it fully at the end. Sometimes short films leave me a bit non plussed, much like art and scultures do. I appreciate the beauty but I hate not understanding the story behind them.
He’s “the Boy who kept touching himself” until he went blind, and how they positioned him from that angle, it’s obvious he did more than just stroking-noticed the bandages?

When I was about six years old, my mom and I were waiting for the bus. It was pretty late and already dark. Then an old lady came along, walked straight up to me and asked me if I wasn't afraid of the boogeyman coming to get me. My mom got so furious and angry, asking her why on earth she was so keen on scaring me for no reason at all - and vividly told her to get lost. I still love here for that moment (and of course for a gazillion other reasons). Therefore I never was, and never will be afraid of the dark, or of spiders, or of dentists, etc... - cautionary tales are for envious and lazy grown ups who've forgotten how it was to be a child and sadly are only capable of patronizing - Thank you for that story. My mom just would have loved to see this. ♥

The song is about things happening in our lives that changed us, and how vulnerable we were as children, never imagining we could become a different person from life’s events. I wonder if the video is a metaphor for that too, though cautionary tales are used as the metaphor.
Thanks Bruce, the credits were the last thing we added to the film, we wanted to help wrap up the 'Tales' just in case people didn't quite get them. So its great to hear they are going down well :)
It really helped. For example the woman with the tree. I thought she got into a car accident and smashed into a tree. The credits (which btw are illustrated very well) helped immensely. This is sort of an abstract take on group therapy and it stands on it's own, but the credits gives the story context if you didn't pick it up on your own, which I did not.
Adopt a damn dog already. Because the whole purpose of it is just to pair up for children. Other than that, its nothing but an immense PITA. So avoid the middleman
That was just fricking awesome! The pip girl took a few minutes, and I totally missed Stevens problem till the end. Great script. Tired of stuff reliant on graphics. I swear, the grin on my face when she walked in at the end, I totally felt that instant recognition of your soul mate. Can't express that better with graphics!
Really sweet little short, even loved the joke set early on about always drink your milk to grow big. The Crust one was new, didn't know that one beforehand. Excellent work
WOW, wow wow wow! This is simply exceptional and everyone involved should be really proud of what you've achieved. I love short films and I devour them whenever I get the chance, I have seen thounsands upon thousands and this is quite honestly the best. I had a stupid gaping smile on my face from start to finish (thankfully there's no wind inside), and then a little tear, beautiful. The tall guy (Lawrence Brown) carrying all the milk was such a lovely touch.
I remember when I was little and I was upset with my mother, I would stick my bottom lip out, she would either pinch it, or tell me it was going to get stuck like that. I got the reference as soon as I started the video. This was a great video. You earned a new subscriber!
I don't get the crust eating guy, like according to the wives tale eating crust gives you curly hair, but why would you go to group therapy for that? Is there something I'm missing? Edit: That awkward moment when you ask a genuine question and accidently start the Ginger Lives Matter movement.
@@chaosjuan What about the stigma against ginger hair? Funny how if something is associated with race, it's sacred, yet no one cares about the discrimination of gingers or old people.
I genuinely enjoyed this. The tales were things my parents told me as I was growing up and the music score suits the story very well. Thank you from the future.
This reminds me of going to AA & feeling like a black sheep. I had a rare skin disease & felt like nobody could relate to being stared at in public & being alone, etc etc. Just making every excuse to be miserable. I realized running will never help me feel better. Also. I'll never get better alone.
The other names were also fantastic. You can say Alan easily with that face (doesn't have to make his lips meet like names with a M, B, V etc.), Mark was all marked up, Norman is arguably the most normal. I didn't catch the others though.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Seriously
It's youtube, what did you expect?
Yes! Disapointing...
probably ppl who just never been there ...
this may be the single greatest short film ive ever seen
The song is about things happening in our lives that changed us, and how vulnerable we were as children, never imagining we could become a different person from life’s events. I wonder if the video is a metaphor for that too, though cautionary tales are used as the metaphor.
This was awesome, well shot and I loved the credits.
@@Us-Inc Yeah, I didn't get it at all until the credits.
Loved it though!
Thanks for no spoilers.
@@Us-Inc did u ever do them? Theyd make great shorts The boy who stayed in the bath to long ect... they would bd great
This was so beautiful. These are the stories that should be told in cinema more often.
This was beautiful. Some short films are very cliche. This was genuine and refreshing.
joking right?
"Yeah um it helped me to release alot "*stroking his stick*.
Maybe the stick is his deeekk
"I'll stick to what you know" said the dog to his walker. Let's say he's more a barker & less of a talker.
We should not change ourselves to fit social standards. Let yourself be the standard to attract people who are like us, or maybe want to be one of us
This guy like: "Do you want to know how i got these scars?"
дима строганов My father.....lived.......in a society.
This is what film making is about. Absolutely fantastic, from concept to execution.
Thank you for also making the point of how truly horrifying it is for kids to be told these old wives tales
And Norman with the curley hair "leave the crusts alone". So good
There is someone out there for all of us, so don’t you dare, don’t you dare, stop looking.
Excellent work
I missed that completely. Thank you
I don't understand the crust one. Please explain it to me.
Mister Justice no worries. Had to look it up myself. The saying goes that eating the crust turns your hair curly
"you'll end up with square eyes if you watch to much TV"
The ending reminded me how single I am
I don't get the crust eating guy, like according to the wives tale eating crust gives you curly hair, but why would you go to group therapy for that? Is there something I'm missing?
Edit: That awkward moment when you ask a genuine question and accidently start the Ginger Lives Matter movement.
yes, the crust
@@hanskanns1710 hahahaha!! :)
i may be wrong but i think the stigma against curly hair comes from racism against africans and jewish people.
@@chaosjuan lol, no
@@chaosjuan What about the stigma against ginger hair? Funny how if something is associated with race, it's sacred, yet no one cares about the discrimination of gingers or old people.
So all their ailments are based on Old Wives Tales. I'm guessing the speaker must have handled too many toads and a got a huge wart on her hand.
or it's not special effects and you've just insulted someone
@@rat8984 💀
the video hardly pays attention to that at all. it could easily just be a ring
I’m only 14 years old, and found this on the explore page, this was extremely entertaining and made me open my eyes
This film made me cry...Absolute masterpiece! Excellent Work!
I genuinely enjoyed this. The tales were things my parents told me as I was growing up and the music score suits the story very well.
Thank you from the future.
Awesome! You could actually feel his pain through the whole thing... Great film ♥️
So sweet. I cried. Thank you. From someone who was feeling lonely.
This reminds me of going to AA & feeling like a black sheep. I had a rare skin disease & felt like nobody could relate to being stared at in public & being alone, etc etc. Just making every excuse to be miserable.
I realized running will never help me feel better. Also. I'll never get better alone.
Everyone feels like that. Wait'll you get older. Then you just won't give AF and you'll be cured. Lol
Vitiligo?
my favorite part about this is the tree girls name being TAREEsuh
The other names were also fantastic. You can say Alan easily with that face (doesn't have to make his lips meet like names with a M, B, V etc.), Mark was all marked up, Norman is arguably the most normal. I didn't catch the others though.
@@nadamuchu Steve was the pervert. Lol
Tree-sa was the tree girl.
I come back to this gem of a film often, It has such a heart to it, and always makes me teary at the end.... in a good way. Many thanks to the creators, a great job well done.
Me looking straight on: What, her nose isn't that b-
Me seeing the profile: whoa
THATS LITERALLY MY SIDE PROFILE HIFHEWS
This is the best short I've seen so far! Brilliant.
It made myself happy almost brought me to tears when the girl showed up. Beautiful. Good job guys
Awesome short film! Love the ending part where the girl comes in with the same face issue. Also, this is something that everyone can relate to so it makes it fun for everyone! Great illustrations at the end too. Awesome job!
The last person I looked at in that “way” felt like the first time and I really do hope it’s the last time, the forever kind. This was wonderful, gotta wait for it. 🥰
I love this so much the concept is brilliant
loved it. made me smiled at the end. i can know how love at first sight feels
Probably the most beautiful film I've ever seen.
