Ever heard of the entire town that contributed in making the Hiroshima bomb without none of the 7000 citizens in said town knowing. They only found out about it after two days it happened in Japan. Then again not even the vice president knew about it as the town was kept from the map. [All those citizens were aswell prisoners of war] go figure
Particularly topical today... As the last free people are trying to retake our nation from the collectivist authoritarians that stole the most recent election. Either we stand against leftwing tyranny, or we will die to it.
There's something about playing lovely positive orchestra music over these people just dying that makes it just so perfect. I love that dramatic contrast. I've seen a similar thing in movies and I just love it every time, but especially here. I've been rewatching this series and everything about it I just love.
There's something about war crimes happening set to classical music that i cant get over. It might be the one thing in media i'll never get bored of- it just has this dramtic contrast and sets this specific mood. And i love it when that happens, because it usually shows a lot about the person commiting war crimes :)
I love how here the bots aren't emotionless and completely robotic, they actually sound and act and move like people and have made friends with the citizens. Another way of manipulating the citizens of Autodale, by making them think they are their friend.
That is because it is the only type of living they are familiar with, they don't know that there are better living conditions out there. And even if they did they would probably be so brainwashed they would see it as a dystopia.
Every utopia sews the seeds of a dystopia. My comment isn't an empty platitude. Look up "Behavioral Sink" - researcher John Calhoun's studies on mammals under utopian conditions. Mammals, and particularly primates, don't fare well in utopia because it removes all need for normative behavior. The result is a descent into violence and decay. Horrifying.
Tom Noordermeer yeah but they’re humans, if they’re not sociopaths they’re gona feel empathy for others, and somewhere down the line there’s gona be someone who realizes the terrible dystopia they live in, whether they act upon this realization though, is something that’s not easy to do
@@Anny-me9ny It could also be that they aren't brainwashed but that they rather have a collective understanding that they can't resist the authorities, ore maybe they realize that if they rebel everything could fall into chaos. Perhaps they are forced to choose between safety and freedom.
This is literally real life in a metaphor. You grow up, get married, raise a child, and then death takes you. The kiss that would always get interrupted shows how responsibilities take the joy out of life, and how you only get that joy once your job is done.
@cranimation2133 Yeah, this kind of philosophy is so depressing to see. The idea life is only worth anything when it's gone, turnt to death, is a very solemn and gross outlook on a world where everything you do does matter. The truth is, the kiss is only interrupted for a moment; there is time to kiss. The idea that responsibilities existing means you can't seek out pleasure until the end is so bleak with no real reason for it to be. There is so much time. Have fun with life. You only get it once.
@@frigorificoespecial6497 it would make sense why they don't accept anyone who's different, it's an easier way to get more bodies, and why everything is centered raising a child, it also would explain the "Auto-Dale is hardly automatic" motto, and the female body that's in the center of the machines
The most terryfing thing in this animation is that every "ugly" person is standing in this line from their own will. No one is forcing them to go there.
Oceantale Roleplay Sans 3.0 I realize that, my understanding was that the original commenter was under the impression that everyone in Autodale is completely brainwashed though. Which would be understandable if this was the first Autodale animation you watched.
Honestly the fact that the Robinson’s just let themselves die is infinitely more horrific than If they’d fought back at all. I sit anxiously waiting for the behind the scenes.
Acceptance of futility. Theres nothing they can do, and they'll die more slowly and get everyone else killed for rebelling, and the only reasonable course of action is to just accept it. Human nature is survival, and when it's clear that there is no chance of surviving a rebellion, we submit. Every dictatorship runs on this principle.
As dark and depressing as the previous ones are, the upbeat and carefree nature of this video just amplifies the horror when the reveal happens. This is a work of art. Terrible, beautiful art.
@lemonsodasheep When you see the Sabbath vs. Sunday conflict take place that I talked about, I hope you will take your side with God's commandment keeping people.
I used to think “uglies” were the crippled, the ADHD, the “different” but in a “perfectly run society” there’s no space for old people- no need for them either. That’s terrifying. Wonderful job!
I thought the uglies were simply people who actually were unattractive, not just older. This video indicates otherwise, however. Those were some well-aged middle-aged people. This is a lot like the Giver and the Uglies/ Pretties series in that regard (only in Uglies, those are the people before they got plastic surgery; the older people still move to a separate community, however).
I read a book in school called “De Hvide Mænd” by Kenneth Bøgh Andersen or “The white men”, it is very similar in concept. I don’t know if it has been translated to any other languages.
@@zephirrism1128 It still is a dystopia... Spoiler for the Giver They still kill the older people, although it's more of euthanasia and is disguised as a celebratory going-away ceremony rather than a publicized bloody execution.
Interesting thing I noticed. Each family only seems to produce 1 child. This means that the population is basically in a state of radioactive decay where each generation is half of what the former generation was.
In the first video there is a family with two children, so I don't think there's any "law" against it, just happened that this family only had one child/grandchild
"Radioactive decay" does not mean what you think it does and is absolutely unrelated to anything in this film. Most relevant term would be "half life" .
What’s scary is people are raised to believe crazy things everyday and it’s a real thing but not as extreme as everyone being raised to believe the same thing
@@theblandcharlie822 Well, I don't have anything personally against people that believe in more genders. But I do not like when they force me to call them something that I do not believe in myself without even knowing them. I don't dislike people who aren't straight or believe they are something else than male and female. But I don't want to get confronted and get mad at just because I called someone who I believed was a female (who looked like a female and sounded like a female) a female. If your appearance is feminine I will call you a female unless I've specifically been told that you don't identify as that.
This video is fake opposition. The system don't want model families in nice comfy suburban homes, the system is anti-family the system wants atomized childless individuals that slave their whole life away.
The way I see it, it's implied that if the machine dies, so does everyone inside the city eventually. So in a way the population is sacrificed as they grow old in order to keep humanity from going extinct. A compromise, and well yes a very messed up one at that.
I think that’s the point. The robots are meant to seem like they’re on the citizens’ side to prevent mass panic. It’s okay - everything’s okay - this is how everything should be, now keep being a productive member of society and don’t worry about it.
We need an Autodale game where there are 2 ways to play 1: You live a fulfilling life as a model citizen exactly as this video shows, and die willingly at one of the pits. 2: You break free from the endless cycle of the town and try to escape and see outside. You can do this at any point during the first path
@@TheAdmiralMoses yes but there was clearly more towns do they follow the same system is it diffrent? everyone in this town seems to be of same race/ similar fetures. were people segragated? did everyone else die. in the past vidieos there are diaries the "breaking free" could be a way to figure out some more background to why or how this happened
They Robinsons were so accepting of their fate when Junior left the household… They didn’t have much left to live for when they had to give up their son, but in their dying moment they went out together.
This has added an entire new layer of darkness to their universe. Not only do they have to be the perfect model citizen, only for this to happen, but they're THANKFUL after all of it. I love this series so much.
It’s actually a reflection of our universe in a way. The robots are each government coralling and controlling their citizens to ‘do their jobs’, each human is content with their life if they get to work a 9-5 and have a family. As long as their own little private life isn’t disturbed they couldn’t care less about what their government does. That’s the reason people get so defensive nowadays when you say their government is doing bad things
Probably because they don't know any other way of life; obviously Auto Dale doesn't allow anyone to have knowledge or education on things like government or history (which is full of ways that humans have governed themselves for centuries like democracy, communism, monarchy etc), so the citizens living there have no idea that society can be governed by human beings and make their own choices rather than living as dictated by machines and then thrown to die when they lose their usefulness. If you ever read Lois Lowry's book "The Giver" and the main character's reaction to learning about different ways to live than what society forces onto him, you'd get a better understanding of it. If you gave these "model citizens: a history book filled with knowledge on how human governments and societies were run before the apocalypse that gave rise to Auto Dale, they would be *1)* floored that there are other ways people can live and be governed, and *2)* enraged at the cruelty Auto Dale puts them through compared to nations like the U.S, U.K, Canada and Japan where people can live and choose as they see fit (not saying any of those countries I named are perfect but they're clearly better places to live than Auto Dale).
yeah but to them, they lived a happy life probably more happy than most humans now and they wouldn't even dare to think the robots who gave them this perfect life would be bad.
I just picture doom guy coming to this little town and seeing the propaganda, and pulls up his shotgun cuz it seems he rolled into a town that was in need of his help
Spoilers Honestly I was waiting for the “Dark Twist” this whole time (other than them being brainwashed) and when the music cut when the father was looking at Joe I thought he was going to rebel. But no, he just thanks Joe right before the robot kills them. I, kind of absolutely love it.
Once your purpose is over, you are no longer valuable. That is the theme i see here and is true to life in many ways. The way we treat those that are no longer working, are older and retired, like their lives are now meaningless and we don't have to care about them anymore. Very sad. Very true.
True. And i think it goes even beyond that. Even in your "productive and active" years, are you *trully* happy? It becomes almost a meaningless question since whatever sense of "happiness" you draw from it was taught, instructed, almost imposed on you. You're "happy" only in the way you were *told* to be happy (which is by being productive and system oriented) and you never had a chance to pursuit other avenues to find out in what other ways could you have been (more) happy. And then one day, like you said, it's all over... and too late...
@@humbertojimmy Exactly. The illusion that doing what you're told and what you are expected to be defines your happiness. Your function is your only identity. We see that today in the U.S. where if you don't work or aren't an "active member of society" you are shamed. If you aren't "economically viable" then you are worthless. Get the reference?
I don’t think we dislike retired people because they don’t work, but because of the fact they have ideas that are outdated. The fact we don’t treat elders with respect is just some big political mess I’m not unfolding
@@PorkyMinch I have to disagree. Not all retired people have outdated ideas. And i think it has nothing to do with politics either. Its a general societal consensus that old people are no longer useful. Like an unspoken mindset that their lives are over, so we shouldn't pay attention to them anymore. Which is odd to me cuz usually retired peoples lives are just starting now that they have the time to do others things besides work all the time.
@@justsomedudeyouknow8372 I’m just saying that there are a decent amount of elders that preach outdated ideals, and by politics I meant like people not caring for elder people was meant to be something about them not receiving elder care in certain countries (and that comes from a thought that medical care should be paid rather than hating on elders)
Well not everyone because in some of the other episodes there trying to escape, but yes I get what your saying and it’s very sad I didn’t really think about that 😢
It is sad, but it reminds me that the world isn't perfect, people are different and we're still fighting for our safety and no matter what happens we're still human and they can't take that away from us
I remember in freshman year of high school, my english teacher actually used this for a lesson. When I say that I was happy finding this again, I mean it. This is genuinely so good that it stuck in my head for months.
It's truly a perfect system. Propaganda is so integral to the state and so en-grained into people's minds that even the "Ugly" are willing to report fugitives and escapees. Their dying actions, their dying breathes. Serving the regime, state and leader. Handy-Men will execute the in-pure. "Walkers" as I like to call them will execute and chase those who dare oppose, run, or rebel. Reminds me of Nazi Germany. Sent off to camps for being in-pure. Neighbors reporting neighbors. This ensures all of the workers are efficient and in their prime to work. And the enforcers aren't corruptable, they're integrated in the regime, work for the regime and does what the regime needs, they don't show fear nor pain. No fatigue, no love, no soul. They're machines, quite literally. It's. It's a perfect cycle.
@@koala2075 Indeed. Stories from inside a cult are more interesting when protagonist don´t see anything wrong in it. In real life I always hope for the member to get away from cults, but in fictional stories like this were we better understand the feelings of the characters, seeing the twisted mentality that everything is fine and characters die proud and happy... It´s pleasantly different dark taste.
"If the cows could vote they would vote for the man that feeds them. Even if he's the same man that is going to slaughter them later" "those that trade their freedom for a safety will lose both and gain none" Most people would rather live cofortably as slaves than struggle in freedom. This series is pretty cool.
The quote about trading freedom for safety has been miss appropriated so hard that it hurts. The sad thing is, the Founders would (after being explained everything to get the context) would agree that there IS such a thing as too much freedom. Welcome to a world of moral ambiguity, where technology has a hefty determining factor for how much freedom and rights you can have...
@ an old saying "fuck bitches, get money". Besides it's comedic connotations this saying tries to teach the individual that if you focus on building your career and legacy as a man you'll attract females along the way bur if you focus on attracting a partner you'll never find one. Happiness and meaning have a similar relationship. If your meaning is to ne happy as much as possible then you'll never be happy but if you find your meaning (being a father, and artist, a charitable man, for example) your life will be meaningful and you'l find happiness
The scariest bit of this is the concept that everyone is happy. No one rejects this, at all, and since we don't see anyone attacking a disobedient person, we can assume there isn't any disobedience. This is, in a sick sense, free will, of a controlled, happy kind. In a way, these robots, the people/robots pulling the strings, they all do want the best, and if it needs this? so be it.
When they get brainwashed since childhood They have never seen anything different ot better than this They are taught that this is the onky perfect way Thats simply hpw propaganda, idealogies and religions work
I first watched this about 3 years ago... I was actually wondered many times over the years what would happen if someone said "No, I'm not doing that."
What i found especially interesting is that despite being in this distopian society that forces them to live a certain way and put on a mask that fakes happiness, the couple are still happy and in love when they take the mask off. Even if they were forced together by the society they live in, they still managed to find happiness within each other and the manotony of life. Really makes the story come that much more to life.
Apparently that was very intentional (according to the making of video) it seems that he was trying to convey a dystopia not through the suffering of the citizens but rather the elimination of all deviation via propaganda and when that doesn’t work, force. Also funish fact, the life they are forced to live is based of the nuclear family, hence why so many people in this comment section are saying it doesn’t seem like a dystopia. Because they have been exposed to actual propaganda (very meta I think)
A problem with this society is that the population won’t last very long because only one kid is being had and two adults die so half the population just dies
If for some reason i’m not happy with out living that lie of a life then i’m not going to take the risk and break out of it, but if it takes everything that’s worth it and leaves a devastating feeling inside, then i’ll live nonsensely like it’s not actually living or not live at all.
Throughout the Robinson’s life’s, they are always are interrupted right before they kiss. But right before they are sentenced to death, they get that final kiss. It feels so bittersweet to me
This is so strange. The worst part is they all think it is a utopia and life is great, they also even just accept the fact the cycle has ended for them, they dont run from their end they accept that they are ugly now.
Ethan Gatenby in there eyes they think what we think is fine is horrifying and horrible, its just how you were raised and thought to believe what lifestyle is considered fine
They are being manipulated into thinking that this is a good way of life but, notice their tones when telling the robot about their day... even in "No Monsters" the uglies obey and point out the girl! it is insane and cruel knowing they are living and dying over and over!
That's what is so interesting about this story, because in theory they are much happier then we are, so is this necessarily a dystopia? After all everyone is happy and even those who are silenced still follow the rules. And we look at this story thinking we have it better, but do we?
It’s supposed to make you question the world around you now. They accept their fate because that is all they have ever known, to their annihilation. What terrible fate have we accepted for ourselves today that we do not even realize because we know nothing else?
I guess its due to the brainwashing. Also the fact that, they are probably very depressed and lost on the inside, each person has knowledge that something may not be right, that, and have questions about, what if there was more to life, what is beyond this box of the city that we are trapped in? Is what is happening actually okay? but they accept what is in their atmosphere because its all they know and are quite controlled in the actions taught to them, and they just trust the robots that cage them in and pretend things are okay, while accepting this is, in that world, supposed to be normal. I feel like its almost just like, a bit sadly suicidal because they don't care about living anymore nor see the point in it, and think that is how life is. But well, as known its not supposed to be this way, there are adventures to be had, and life is to be explored, we are very blessed to have the life we have now, to be able to see such things as the mountains, and forests, all the earth's nature. Laugh, spend time with friends and family, or find beautiful things to do yourself, be who we are as we aught to be who we actually are. Each person has spectacular personality, even if some may say they may be "weird" its who we are, and it brings the child likeness to us, and gives smiles, and dis is v nice in my opinion. I dont think being weird is not normal. Rather i think being like everyone else is not not normal and strange. ;p Life may bring pain, but that pain only helps you to bring courage, and strength. Softens the heart and gives more wisdom in knowing of heart in a deeper level. Time is precious, try to find joy in your moments x) Each day you arise, is just a sign that you still have you're life story to live, to keep reaching in what you find your purpose is to be, or to find purpose. Find good things that you enjoy too ^v^ I kinda went off topic XD but yis. Thank for reading this cheese block of a message. Have a wonderful one, God bless. 💖💛
Did you watch the video? They are very obviously scared, but scared doesn't mean they weren't happy with their lives. The family is still human after all.
Oh no, that's not the scary part. The fact that they feel they lead a happy life even tho death is eminent and knowing full well that whatever is coming to them is also going to come on to their next generation is scary.
funny story. everyone knows getting old sucks so much that they die knowing they will never get old in the first place. That is why they are all smiling.
ive seen this at least ten times and i cant get over how aesthetically pleasing and how perfectly terrible it is and i wish there were more dystopian stories that radiate this vibe
3:43 i really love how, this scene looks like the man was gonna walk up to the robot he had known for so long, and plead for his life..but no..the mans so brainwashed that he felt he had to thank him before dying.. as if he didnt even consider the idea of living after this moment god thats depressing. Its a psa that glorfys obediance 😢
Probably the most horrible part of all this is that they know that their destiny is to get killed in the pit, and they are perfectly happy. They know that the outside world is uninhabitable and that death is the only way to survival. This life may seem horrible and unsettling to us, but to them, it is perfect.
I like how, logically speaking, the cycle will in fact come to an end. If two parents are all making one child, then the population is halving with every generation
Hey, that reminds me of our current world controles by the social democrats, ie the left, with their transhumanistic obsession and their population reduction through abortion culture.
We know from earlier animations some are having 2 and from friendly shadow we know some are having 3, the population is steady. I’m guessing there might be a “child quota” each parent is given. 1 or 2 or 3 children.
Me too, I thought they would wake up to the work around them only to get crushed by autodales cycle. But they spend their entire lives reveling in it and happily march to their own demise. So much scarier, amazingly done.
the next guy Yeah they represent the average citizen that is okay with their government doing horrible things as long as they get to live their own little happy life. You see many people nowadays turn super defensive when their daily grind is interrupted by something big happening in the world like the threat of their government not doing what’s best for the citizens
I love how all of these comments are freaking out about life they are living. Like, we have a lot of things that are socially acceptable and at the same time very brutal. This animation is a metaphor for our society, it is not far from what we live in. From childhood we are taught how our life should look like after finishing school, how to rise family etc.
so so so the robot that showed up at their house had a weird scratch on its abdomen, and I at first noticed because I was like "haha loser" until I also saw that the robot that killed them didn't have it, so it was a different one. this just shows that the bots seem to have personality with a mask of pleasantries, but they're just soulless robots.
You guys clearly didn't watch the "Making Of" video- it's not any of these replies. These are two completely separate robots. They have no shared memories, neither have any more power than the other. Joe isn't the scratched Handyman's name, he doesn't have one. Joe is simply what the Robinsons call him, because they're human and they formed a connection with him. The second Handyman went along with it because he doesn't care. He just gets his job done, and if that means going by Joe like the first did than so be it.
The part where they know they're time has come is what upsets me the most. You can tell there is true love between this man and woman, and to see the system decide that their love is not valuable is absolutely fucking tragic. It makes me wanna cry every time I rewatch this series.
Well, and hear me out, what if there love was so true and pure because they knew the ending? If both people knew that they have a very finite amount of time to spend together, then odds are they would try and make every moment count.
@Jisoo Kim Their kid is maybe 20 years old. So they’re 40, 45? That’s not old at all. How would they die anyways? Obviously, in 20, 30, 40 years they would. But right now, they seem pretty fit when dancing together.
Shmailee Mcwinter probably not. The family probably did, but not the robot. It doesn’t seem to have sympathy or empathy or any other emotions, so I doubt it.
it has been pointed out to me but the detail is completely changed my perspective on this. the robot, "Joe" as they call it, is not the same robot that sends the Robinson's off like they believe. Joe has one key difference to the other robots shown in this film. Joe has a scratch on his chest. the reason the robot didn't correct them is because they never cared in the first place. their kindly mannerisms are programmed in. and yet, even though "Joe" has been a part of their life for a long time they couldn't tell the difference between him and any other robot.
Omg yes I reached it after I read this and you are so correct! The people are so brainwashed that they can't distinguish the difference between the robots, and to even rebel against them.
We see the *confirmation* that the ''adult'' citizens are indeed quite complicent and compliant with their 'condition' and are actually are not ''closely'' enslaved; they truly adore this system; and proudly wore their masks
Brainwashing at its finest tbh. Although it makes me wonder how many generations of "defective" humans it took to reach the current model of "use and disposal" (although there still seems to be those that realize the system is fucked up/get singled out and attempt to escape). As well as it makes me wonder what new adults are told about their parents after they leave the house tbh. How the hell do you spin "oh they were killed and dropped into a pit" in a way that's not horrifying and would make anyone emotionally attached to his parents nope the fuck out? How deep goes the brainwashing go, that people will happily walk into their deaths and even thank their murderer? So many questions. Autodale keeps managing to fascinate and completely horrify me lmao
@@katsucandy Agreed. They 'taught' them meanwhile they're young and managable; along with the inclusion of ''special'' people; those that are 'bright' enough to realize they live on the butcher farm. completely agree. When blood is highlighted or used sparingly in movies/tv/books/whatever it gives it more meaning/symbolism/psychological impact. (sorry for all the "/" lol)
I interpreted it as blood being the depiction of death. Death was their only escape, and they were happy to embrace and accept that it was the only way to not feel. Just like reality, when life seems dark and bleak, death seems so colourful. And vice versa.
@@ilomilo850 I completely agree with your statement. I also interpreted this as the blood being their true selves. The propaganda being spread through the television, masks over a black and white layer of their true selves. This idea pairs well with the saying, "black and white for all to see", as one who has experienced color can see the true flaw. This short film can be assimilated to the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, where the character discovers color in a colorless world and escapes his community as his doom lingers in the distance.
@@ilomilo850 The grass is always greener on the other side. Living people living bleak lives believe death is colorful, while dead spirits, should they exist, may look at living people the same way, believing death to be bleak and life as colorful. I could go and state that eternal-repeated life lesson to make the most of everything, but I won't. It's been said so many times it may as well be carved in our brains from birth. Instead, do what you want to do. If you want to sit around and ignore the darkness of your life, then do just that. If you want to make the most of it, then do just that. This the great thing about free will; nothing can stop you from living how you want. And so I say; live how you want, not how you could.
Watching this several times, I notice 2 things I hadn't noticed before. (1) When their child turned 15 he went to have a family , so that makes the couple 30 (that is if they started their family at 15 too). (2) All those who are single, are considered 'ugly' because they couldn't find a partner to continue that 'pefect cycle'. That's why the parents are so pround of their son.
@@saraspivey1129i don’t think OP meant that every person considered ugly was single. i think they just meant that being single is one thing that can make you ugly, so their son finding a partner so young was a source of pride (+ insurance that their son would be safe)
This also explains why the “Ugly” people rated out the “Exceptional” girl on the other short. They agree with the system and were against her breaking free. (OoO)
But if you check "Being Pretty"/the first video they made. On 2:22 there is someone labeled as "Old". It could just be a slight lore problem the creator could've missed or it could be something much deeper...
Bad Luck Uglies might just be an interchangeable word for “Not suitable anymore”. Think about it, it’s a good way to dehumanise people, as Uglies are not fit for life anymore and thus killed, which is easier to accept once you dehumanise the person dying. It’s a tactic used in the military as well, dehumanise your enemy and their death will be easier to cause and accept
vitali Well, for an example. There’s a term known as Haiji, now if my knowledge serves me correctly it’s based around the fact that people who go the Mecca are Hajs, but I’m not sure. It’s origins is regardless though, what matters is who used it and how. The US marines coined the term as a racial slur to use when they invaded Iraq. It was a racial slur made to dehumanise the enemy and make it so killing them would be easier. This tradition dates back to WW2 when a US I wanna say Military Intelligence personnel made a report that dehumanising the Japanese made their own troops more effective, and that as the enemy was going to be brutal, so must they too adapt to that and be brutal to their enemy by giving them no mercy and seeing them as a less then human light (the Japanese went a different way about this, they dehumanised the Americans but also romanticised the idea of dying for the Emperor). They’d do this by taking them through hospitals and showing what they did, inventing racial slurs, making negative comments about them, blaming stuff on them, seeing them in a overall negative light. It should be known that not all Military personnel are like this. But it is a tactic utilised by the Military to make it easier to get the job done
@@cassiel5630 Which others? I didn't see any families with more than one child. And the broadcaster at 0:28 even specified that a model family consits of a father, mother and one boy or girl :3 Edit: True! In "being pretty" and "don't feed the freak" I've seen families with two children.

Totally! It really shows the impact of music on films! I was really inspired by this and I also made a series of dystopian animations with classical music :P You can find them on my UA-cam Channel ;)
Have wondering why, I finally figured it out. It adds to the illusion of happiness in a “perfect” society. The music is happy and provides false security even though we know it isn’t really good. It’s amazing how music and setting can affect our mind. When listening to this song by itself, it provides an entirely different feeling
It requires the acquiescence of the citizens to perpetuate the system, as does any authoritarian state. If enough of the population were to resist, the state would fall. Hence the need for continual propaganda to support the system.
It means that if in the present you change everyone's belief of the past, you can them beleive some things aren't wrong and change their way of thinking, therefore affecting the future
I guess as of this video, it can be generally assumed that all citizens take of their masks every day to talk, eat and other various activities. However, most of the time they are ordered to keep them on.
It’s even more questioning with the families when they know they’re gonna go. The wife said, “you think it’s time to go?” As to the husband responded, “I hope the cycle never ends.”
This is labeled as horror. So i was expecting to panic and shout, However I did not scream watching this. but i wish i did...because even though 15 minutes have passed since i watched it, i still have a painful ache in my heart over this.this short film gave me an entire life story of 2 people in 5 minutes, and made me feel like i know them personally, and made me feel happy for their happiness... then proceeded to crush that feeling in a minute, and make me feel like something is horrifyingly wrong. THATS why i dont like this type of horror, where everyone abd everything is wrong, but its so danm ingraved and deeply wrong that you cant even stop it anymore... i this distopya nothing can be fixed. Because for that to happen, someone needs to challenge the system AND for that to work you need people who have been told the same thing their entire life to change and evwn if that works, you have these ROBOTS killing people

to be honest that moment when she said "I think its time" I knew exactly what was going to happen but still it sent chills down my spine when it was confirmed. Why would they just walk to their deaths, also how come their child has no love for them or desire to visit them, does he know that when he left they would die, and one day the same will happen to him, or is this taught to the parents after giving birth????
It’s their society’s “cycle”. I’m guessing while the kid grows up, the parents tell them all they need to know and they’re brainwashed to believe once you become a certain age you leave your parents and begin to blossom.
You screen and separate/dispose of the individuals that don't exhibit the desired traits and behaviors and then breed for the desired aspects or something
It shocked me when i realised the "uglies" were just the old people. I used to think these were the people that stood out and dared to be different. But no, this is much darker actually. Since old people have nothing else left to do they just kill them.

I love how here the bots aren't emotionless and completely robotic, they actually sound and act and move like people and have made friends with the citizens. Another way of manipulating the citizens of Autodale, by making them think they are their friend.
They probably realized they get less radicalized groups but not using fear and punishment as much as they could
It’s freaky how everyone treats this like a utopia even when they can see what’s going on.

This is literally real life in a metaphor. You grow up, get married, raise a child, and then death takes you. The kiss that would always get interrupted shows how responsibilities take the joy out of life, and how you only get that joy once your job is done.
Not really.
i'd disagree with this philosophy
@cranimation2133 Yeah, this kind of philosophy is so depressing to see. The idea life is only worth anything when it's gone, turnt to death, is a very solemn and gross outlook on a world where everything you do does matter.
The truth is, the kiss is only interrupted for a moment; there is time to kiss. The idea that responsibilities existing means you can't seek out pleasure until the end is so bleak with no real reason for it to be. There is so much time. Have fun with life. You only get it once.

I thought the uglies were simply people who actually were unattractive, not just older. This video indicates otherwise, however. Those were some well-aged middle-aged people. 2: You break free from the endless cycle of the town and try to escape and see outside. You can do this at any point during the first path

It’s horrible how they accept this way of life and they’re perfectly fine with it
Probably because they don't know any other way of life; obviously Auto Dale doesn't allow anyone to have knowledge or education on things like government or history (which is full of ways that humans have governed themselves for centuries like democracy, communism, monarchy etc), so the citizens living there have no idea that society can be governed by human beings and make their own choices rather than living as dictated by machines and then thrown to die when they lose their usefulness.

The scariest bit of this is the concept that everyone is happy. No one rejects this, at all, and since we don't see anyone attacking a disobedient person, we can assume there isn't any disobedience.
I think the scariest part is when they’re not even scared at the fact that they’re about to die.
Theology in a nutshell.
Rather i think being like everyone else is not not normal and strange. ;p
Life may bring pain, but that pain only helps you to bring courage, and strength. 💖💛

Well, and hear me out, what if there love was so true and pure because they knew the ending? If both people knew that they have a very finite amount of time to spend together, then odds are they would try and make every moment count.

@Jisoo Kim also, everybody is gonna die eventually; so what's the point in living at all?

@@Loratusk gacha is ass so shut up
it has been pointed out to me but the detail is completely changed my perspective on this. the robot, "Joe" as they call it, is not the same robot that sends the Robinson's off like they believe. Joe has one key difference to the other robots shown in this film. Joe has a scratch on his chest. the reason the robot didn't correct them is because they never cared in the first place. their kindly mannerisms are programmed in. and yet, even though "Joe" has been a part of their life for a long time they couldn't tell the difference between him and any other robot.

completely agree.
And vice versa.
madness combat

@@edwardzero9275 what sort of stuff would they say in the military?
vitali Well, for an example.
