    That river.
    In that city.
    YOUR city!
Ancient place, inhabited since time immemorial, has begrudgingly accepted the refuse of countless generations.
Thanks to you, that river gives back, in the form of tiny wonders.
    Treasures!
And, you share them with all of us.
    Thank you!

Today where I am is Mothers day,so with the help of Nic (hijacking her tube for a wee moment) thank you in advance Nicola, here goes, I lost my youngest brother in January and I lost my mom this April, so even though my heart is heavy with sorrow, I wish all mothers everywhere the very best all year round , cause moms are special everyday. I could sit and watch Nicola all day. So informative and such a pleasant voice it's a pleasure to watch her adventures in the mud. It's also wonderful to see a beautiful person getting mud under her fingernails without freaking out. From a mountain top in North Carolina, I love the way she takes me to the Thames for a day out in London because of her I hope to visit there someday. Be well, be safe, Peace.

It's snowing here in NW Pennsylvania so I decided to stay in and watch you mudlark. I almost lost it when you said Fizzies. I remember those little tablets that kids loved to drop into a glass of water to give it different flavors. Sometimes we would just put the tablet into our mouth to our Mum's consternation and our delight.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Happy Mum's day to you and all the other Mums watching.

I did a bit of my own research into that pottery find on the Internet - I actually paused the video, opened a new browser window, and pitched right in - and got several hits, all concerning Sunderland ship jugs. (Particular ceramic pitchers with a proprietary attractive glaze, all made in Sunderland, and bearing the illustration of a sailing vessel.)
The verse on each was: ‘This world is a good one to live in/To lend, to spend, to buy, or give in/But to beg, borrow, or get a mans own/It is such a world as never was known’. Which I took to mean "this is a good world". On reflection, I believe your friend's interpretation is probably the accurate one, though.
Thanks for another great outing! The 17th Lancers bit was brilliant!

Happy Mother's Day (probably belated for you) from across the Pond! I hope it was lovely.
As an SCA member (Society for Creative Anachronisms) I've watched chain mail be made by many, many people for over 35 years, and every one of them who'd found or purchased scraps of true historical mail has brought it out and proudly displayed it; so I was pretty sure you'd found the real thing, what with the careful welds. Nice, and amazing that you saw it there in the mud! Loved the pipes too, especially the skull-and-crossbones one from the 17th; that was very neat.

    Having difficult thoughts of others,
Heard the letting go song, Immediately let it go so I didn't make a mistake.
Such a beautiful song in this excellent video.

The coin had some lettering remaining on one side, maybe you could do a rubbing with paper and pencil to see what else might show. There are apps the are used to tweak images to reveal pictographs that could be useful as well. Super cool finds! The pipes were nice.
I found the coin by searching ITT RE: 1 farthing 1895-1901

Arrrrrgh me hearty Nicola it be Mothers day today so may ye be blest with Pirate treasure today ,may your pipe collection grow with wondrous treasures. The opening shows burgeoning life on the Thames shore ,lets hope your larking is also burgeoning .I among many missed you last week and seeing your smart new top I guess the French Navy have granted you furlough. Some like "Fizzy" bottle stoppers now if the content was sparkling and fizzy we'd have the start of a party so Nicola sweet one keep digging.
Take care be good Cheers from Canada with ooodles of virtual hugs and kisses.XX
