Thank you for this wonderful documentary. I live in Scotland so am aware of the UK Celts, which I knew originated in Europe, but I had no idea that the European civilisation was so beautiful & complex. These treasures are so beautiful.

maybe, maybe not, so keltic people spread out and some groups also brought culture, language and religion to the british islands, after spreading out into all directions, this keltic tribes already asimilated lots of other ethnics and came already as a new mixture to many other places at extremity of europe. After many other tribes conquered and settled in british island, romans and germanic tribes, the slavery brought slavic and baltic people etc. etc. So it would be a miracle if you are indeed keltic, think that most europeans have some per cent of keltic nowadays, and so it could be that there is more keltic origin blood in tyrol or slowakia, or in italy....than even in a country where they today still speak keltic. Imagine all spanish speaking countries get occupied by chinese...and 3000 years later the only spanish speaking people is found in some villages in Paragua where people is original Guarani-indians in a region of german and italian settlers, but in a country where spanish was spoken. And yes, those could be the last who still speak spanish ;)

    • @_MadFox
      @_MadFox 18 днів тому +1

The DNA question makes perfect sense if you're up-to-date on the various DNA data collections to verify aspects of certain archaeological projects. The scientists studying Ouzi The Ice Man conducted an enormous DNA analysis of all of Europe, extending south of the Mediterranean. You're obviously informed of this and other DNA studies. I dont want to seem nosey, and by all means decline to answer this question...but were you by chance a participant in one or more of those studies? Heddwch / Peace in the ancient tounge of the Cymry. The DNA prevalent in North Wales can be traced back to 10000 years ago, just after the last ice age. To refer to the Cymry as Celtic is therefore ludicrous. A major stone at Stonehenge has just been found to have originated from Scotland. When it got to Salisbury Plains, there were no Celts, only ancient Britons. Celtic is a divisive modern narrative pedeled by the mainstream echo chamber historical elite to deny us of our true histories. Why can't the mainstream get their heads around the fact that our
Islands were highly capable, organised and aware of complex cosmology. They were not only connected to each other, but to the continent and much further beyond . There was no Wales or Scotland during this time and the close interaction between Wales Scotland and Ireland is air brushed by the academic establishment. Even the people who were to become the English have had their own history deleted, in an attempt for them to accept a F list minor Hanoverian dynasty, who had interbred for over 200 years in tiny pat of Europe, to be accepted as the rulers of a country they had no legitimate claim to. Don't argue brothers, just question who gain 25:04 s from the mainstream bullshit we are encouraged to accept.

Unless its under extremely unique circumstances not even in the name of progress. I've seen enough archeology documentaries and graveyard tour videos about digging up human bones to understand that we ever truly are "laid at rest", its only temporary at best. 8:20 This is so fascinating. Uncovering the skeletal remains of someone who had been an extremely important and revered figure during his time. Of the THOUSANDS of years that had passed since then of remaining there, but now reaching us. Kingdoms that had been powerful had come and gone, and here we are in "the present time" with our `modernity', `technology' and all. Which, like the times of this skeletal remains, will also pass by, gradually cease to be of any relevance and becoming mere curiosities for those in the future.

Looking through the comments it’s so apparent how ignorant so many people choose to be about the Celts. Just because you’re Irish doesn’t mean you’re related to the person in this grave or anyone from this region in France. The Celts were spread all throughout Europe from Spain to the Black Sea. The land of the Celts was HUGE.

The Irish guy simply says he is an Irish Celt and refers to his local Celtic treasures. He doesn't suggest that he is related to these people. Quote "In our local history and culture we created beautiful objects from gold, many of which are in the museums of Ireland and are truly magnificent. These were products of local creativity and not acquired by trade or gifts!" He is simply saying he is proud of his own Celtic history and the local Celt's ability to work metal.
So it seems you are the "ignorant" one jumping to assumptions instead of taking the time to understand his comment.
He's just saying the Irish Celts also made some cool stuff and you get triggered about it.

Although some people are uncomfortable with archaeological excavations of burial sites, this is the only way to learn of our past. Not necessarily in this video but sadly the system used for dating is sometimes lacking as stones can’t be dated so they can only go off an item that can be carbon dated in the very close location as in the case for Gobelin Tepe, wood found within the area of stones dates to when it was last used before it was buried & not the date it was made. The items in the graves in this video are very beautiful though and show great skills of those who made them. Personally I don’t like speculations and prefer facts but sometimes there are no answers due to lack of evidence.
Great video, thank you for sharing this knowledge with us. 🙏

To begin with, the river system was completely different at that time. Absolutely. The Celts lived everywhere: from Britain to the South Russian steppes, mixing with the Slavs, because they had similar customs, gods and language with them. It is incorrect to say that they did not have a written language. Nowadays, all the peoples of the Germanic language group, including Russians, are native speakers of the Celtic language, and given their close contacts, we can talk about Runic writing. Half of the words in the Russian language are based on Celtic roots. Perhaps the entire European population of the continent are descendants of the Celts.

Hallstatt and surrounding areas were well connected with Britain during the Early Bronze Age 2300 BC. Isotope analysis of the 'Amesbury Archer' shows he was born in Austria and then travelled to Britain. Another body buried later, upon analysis showed he was born in Britain, raised in Austria and then travelled back to Britain as an Adult. Lots of theories about these two 'Celts' but one thing is certain,. It hints on how well the Celtic nations were connected on many levels.

Kelts, the name used by greeks and romans was a group of lots of ethnic tribes who shared more and more religion, culture and even language, the advanced kelts had contact with etrusks and greeks over alps and on way to danube, later down to rhone to mediteranean, had contacts with early romans...and reparted those new culture contacts north of alps, spreading in all directions, bringing those "more advanced/new culture and language also to british islands and to its aborigin people. Just when roman empire started to expand also germanic tribes came down from north-east and evrything changed. Kelts never had scripture or a imperium but acted together, joining forces and sometimes fighting each other,. Even the Romans couldn't always distinguish very well whether they were Celtic, Raetian, Germanic or other tribes because many of them had merged culturally

The objects found in this tomb (and in others as well) prove that long-distance trade was not uncommon in the ancient world. The Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans only intensified this trend, founding colonies that functioned as trading posts with peoples increasingly incorporated into a vast economic area. This process of contact and development of commercial relations was not always smooth or peaceful. It was often extremely violent. And it continues to be so today. Belonging or not to a town, city, nation, state, culture or religion continues to be a problem. Conflicts arising from differences and conflicting interests are inevitable. A great leader brings people together. The treasure in the tomb mentioned in this documentary is an eloquent testament to the life of someone who did not live only for war. Not leaving these valuable and luxurious objects to an heir was a way of saying: "If you want good things like these, you will also have to negotiate respectfully with other peoples?" This is a good question that will remain unanswered.
There is a curious long-lasting historical continuity through objects in Europe. The immense bronze cauldrons that served wine at feasts dedicated to pagan gods were in a way turned upside down and transformed into the bells of medieval monasteries, churches and cathedrals.

The wonderful Crater with the woman standing above, makes me think of Cerridwen's Cauldron in some traditions it brewed wisdom, in others it symbolized rebirth which would explain the connection with war.

I have to say that the craftsperson-ship in the large bronze wine cauldron is off the scale. Such skill is difficult to practice even today.

We need more Archelogy to be taking place world wide, Its amazing to me to realise that our ancestors traded with other communities at vast distances. We must of shared stories and jokes long before we could all read and write. I wonder if those stories could entertain and move us now? Has the human spirit changed? Tragedy is still sad and fun has still a touch of comedy. What was it like to hear of Lions, Elephants and Whales around a summer nights camp fire?! When you have never seen the Sea!?.Dragons where real and every child wished to find a flying horse no doubt.

Even during later periods, such as the Romans, many or most settlements were next to rivers, streams, or lakes, as they needed ready access to water. Although ancient wells were created as far back as 8500 BC, in what is now the Middle East and Ancient Greece, it was not the practice of nomadic European tribes to make such permanent structures as sources of water. The Celtic tribes were nomadic, because central Europe was still home to many tribes of barbarians. Permanence was not really an option for many groups of people. It wasn't until around 3000 - 3500 BC that permanent stone wells began to make an appearance in Central Europe, and the Romans were some of the first cultures to make them with stone reinforcement, starting around 600 - 700 BC. Even if you look at many European cultures of the Middle Ages and as late as the Renaissance, they still used local streams and rivers to do laundry and to clean items, not well water.

that part confused me also, settlements naturally near rivers for many reasons ,water, travel, fishing, trade, defence, hunting, defining your territory using river as a border and making it easy to expand that border naturally

no, keltics where not nomadic, hahahahahahah! this was befor keltic evolves...Look: people came 7000 years ago from Anatolia and eastern steps to europe and brougt agriculture to the nomadic hunter and gatherer of europe. Those farmers brought cows, pigs, goats and started to plant on fields. From these people: ancient european hunter-gatherer plus anatolian plus stepherders all, or the most tribes evolved (like germanics, italics, keltic, greeks etc etc. etc.) all are settlers, with agriculture, since 7000 years ago in central europe! Kelts had interchange with etrusc and greeks, long before roman empire begun my friend, trades down to black sea at danube and over the alps to mediteranean., They also had trade with people at baltic sea, and even changed woman from alpine region to baltic sea and black sea ;) they used slaves in the saltmines and and and spread out into europe. Kelts got name by greeks, but they just called themselfes in tribe names. Kelts was a group of lots of ethnic tribes who shared more and more religion, culture and even language. Kelts had widespread and bringing culture to other ethnics, sometimes also in war, and many ethnics later used keltic culture, religion and language....so even in british island

Yeah...I hate to sound shallow, but when I was majoring in anthropology and later archeology, it was mostly guys in my classes.
Later, I met an archeologist that graduated about ten years after me, who is one of the most beautiful women that I have ever seen.
It's definitely refreshing to see women with respectable and interesting minds in this age of widespread debauchery.

I have seen women archaeologists and I’m over half a century. I would say over 100 around the world that I knew of. I am a woman I am a mom and I think women are amazing of course, but I don’t think this has anything to do with women and see this is where you part us, my friend, I just don’t think that that’s has anything to do with anything not the Sykes not the color not the religion. That’s what people have to start realizing and I really really hope that comes through. Have a great evening, my friend.

      Dear @@Nupagade246
??? Maybe you got me wrong? I'm a big bear type male and I like, love, adore and support (most) women. Especially when doing craftsman stuff and/or "typical" men stuff. I like to get help from women when I'm stuck. Simply because of the fact that females usually are way more pragmatic than males. I love my daughter (29 yo) and made sure early, that there are no typical (and unfortunately common) "only males can do" or "males can do better" prejudices hindering her. 2) What I wrote in my main comment is simply something that I witnessed over decades = a lot of beautiful women in the archaeology business (regardless of their age).
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
