I know that this would be definitely be my hobby if I lived in London! Not much like it available in Australia, I am afraid, but I do fondly recall coming across and old midden with my siblings when I was about 8 years old. It was in a back paddock on a farm near ours and it was filled with old bottles and a broken soup tureen, parts of a broken old fashioned pram, and lots of other stuff that might have been up to 100 years old. Mum was livid when we decided to cart a whole stack of rubbish back onto our farm!!. I would love to go on a mudlarking ramble anywhere in the UK. Tidal rivers are fascinating in themselves. Love this channel,- and the beautiful French read aloud too! Did you learn the language at school or live in France for a while, Nicola?

Fascinating information about the Delftware pottery Nicola, those pieces are something you could quite easily walk past if you didn't know their significance. Well done finding the George ll and what a knowledgeable guy Ted is, I would never had known that's how the saying 'pin money' came about. It's amazing the sardine tin was in such good condition considering it's age ! Lovely finds, Thank You and Ted for another exciting lark in the mud

I give a new home for orphans Bricks, that look forlorn and unloved. Onto dry, dry Land, and with there clayeeeee Friends. Gathering moss and basking in the Sun. No longer, lost and enjoyed for what they are. The Building Blocks of Modern London, after 1666. Imperials and Metric all together, with the occasional post-mediaeval flat one. Give praise to the humble brick, and the sewers under our feet. And the people that built this City.
Nicola, your videos are always a treat but this one especially so when it is a double act of you with Ted Sandling! I could listen to him all day. You spoil us! I didn't want it to end so paused halfway through to go out and do chores, knowing I had more of the treat to enjoy on my return. Thank you both so much. x #AMudlarksTreasures.
Thanks Nicola. Ted is a very well dressed Mudlark himself. He reminds me of a Jack Russell Terrier. I couldn't stop seeing those triangular pins from the kiln plate holders. When he was picking up pins and near a pipe find. Funny how that happens. Take care and bless you.
Hi Nicola. Last year one of my adult daughters recommended your You Tube site which I’ve found so exciting and informative. I love your Mudlarking adventures, always informative and interesting. Meeting your friends is a joy too.
You make my weeks! Thank you!! #AMudlarksTreasures
When this video started I was not sure I was going to like this man. In no time at all I loved him and hope we will see him again.
That's a relief Wendy. Ted is just great x
God I love writers ; can you imagine going mudlarking with Peter Ackroyd : I can . Straight in there Ted with Pepys what more could you wish for . A footnote Adam Smith was a Fifer like me , born in Kirkcaldy. #AMudlarksTreasures
I didn't know Adam Smith was a Fifer! Peter Ackroyd's book "Dickens" was one I couldn't put down. I kept re-reading it for weeks!

Great to meet you David!
Your French pronunciation is quite remarkable, just the slightest hint of English in some sounds.
Merci!
Saggars were originally called 'safeguards', the name evolved into Saggars with slang or dialect over the years .
Any saggar maker bottom knocker would know this.
@@stephenbray9816 Hello Duck, i have got promotion from saggar makers bottom knocker and am working in the sliphouse now.
That's so interesting. Thank you!
Truly delightful to hear you two share about such a range of history and interesting facts on different objects.
Really enjoyed listening to Ted drawing out the wider history from the day's finds #AMudlarksTreasures
Hi Nicola. Last year one of my adult daughters recommended your You Tube site which I’ve found so exciting and informative. Of course I’m up to date with all your episodes and always look for the newest. Your videos helped me change my focus from the all consuming Covid restrictions which was so needed and appreciated. I reside in Victoria British Columbia on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Thank you for all the beauty and history you share with your viewers. #A Mudlark’s Treasures
Lovely day out on the river, good finds too. Thanks for the share.
