You did a good job of capturing it in my eyes. It's sad how many people I tell that my favorite game is stardew valley and they've never heard of it before. I especially liked the discussion on the music. Two additional aspects: I have two friends that live in a different state, so this game is how I connect with them, playing SV and talking on discord. And we've started exploring mods in the last year. Tons of additional content and QoL improvements that keep the game fresh even after 1300 hours in. Queen of Sauce. Our first farm together I joined late and I had received all the recipes except for fruit salad for a really long time... Like at least a year (in game).
Grant-san Thanks for the comment. I feel the same way. Like concernedape I played Harvestmoon on the Snes back in the day and NEVER found a game like it until Stardew valley. I hope he adds Multiplayer to Haunted chocolatier... See you around pelican town ^_^)b
Found out from reddit (but i’m sure you have heard that already) and i love these videos! keep it up because it’s impossible for this to not get picked up by the algorithm ps: love your soothing voice :)
What makes this my favourite game and keeps me coming back is that no two saves are the same. You never know how your gameplay is going to go when you start a new farm, it’s so refreshing and exciting :)
everything just feels cute and cozy and relaxing and stressful all at the same time whenever you're thinking about whether you should have two tubs of flowers or maybe just one and maybe in a different corner and at the same time thinking whether to farm your fairy rose honey in ginger island first or maybe go to skull caverns for a best luck iridium iron gold farming first instead.... whew... constantly a lot on your mind and yet, it always lights up your brain cells with innate joy and comfort ❤❤❤
What do you think about the new game Core Keeper? I heard people saying that it will become a Stardew Valley killer, but you know that such statements never become true anyway.
Core keeper is great, but Stardew Valley will always have a cult following. Right not the SD fans (huge group and very pro lgbt) are waiting for The haunted Chocolatier. Right now they are fighting with Conceredape(the creator of SD) to add they/them stuff. Idk man. Stardew is just chill and relaxed, I think they are completely different. Stardew is a goat, it won't die, just become less popular man.
Same here, man. Tried some of these other games advertised as “cozy” or “farm sims” and everything else just pales in comparison to Stardew Valley. Ultimately, I decided I’m not a fan of the genre-just that one game. Incidentally, from a game design perspective I think I know why SDV is more interesting and addictive than other similar games. The day night cycle and the passing of the seasons creates a tight gameplay loop in which you set goals and try to do things by a certain time, the skill tree provides the opportunity for character progression, and the mines have progression, challenge and reward baked in. It’s game theory 101, but it’s surprising how many games in the genre miss some of these elements and end up falling flat.
Same here! I got into SDV from the Harvest Moon just like Eric did and I only can get, "hooked" on those two games. There are some new games coming out I think you'll like though. I made a video about them if you want to follow the updates ;)
@@ScouterVee Thinking of it a little more, it’s an interesting question, though, for you or whoever else might be reading this: have there been any games that made you want to check out a genre, but then you realized out you didn’t care for the genre, only that game? Aside from SDV, for me AC Odyssey (loved it, although everyone said the older ones were better, didn’t care for them or for any of the AC’s that followed), Cyberpunk 2077 (made me interested in researching the genre, but aside from a couple of the movies, didn’t care for any of it. Even the original books that spawned the genre I found either poorly written, dull, dark, negative, and cynical to point of being toxic), and Moonlighter (really fun roguelike that made me check out others, but they all lacked the secondary “shop” gameplay loop that kept Moonlighter interesting for me) are good examples.
I think they really feel like a good mmo in the sense I can play and I always got lots of things I can choose to do, lots of activities that I need to plan for and manage my time and stamina doing. It's a gameloop drug
Congrats on 200!!!! I was very hesitant to get into Stardew because it would be a janky rip-off of Harvest Moon and I've had some issues with others in the past... I've known about the game since its release and did not start playing until last year after UA-cam kept shoving its content down my throat. And I have to agree with you, its been a LOONNGGGG time since we had a decent Harvest Moon game, and the last decent one was HM Cute... which is a basically a reskinned HM DS... which is a better version of A Wonderful Life... TT__TT ConcernedApe did create a masterpiece and I feel terrible for not giving his game a shot earlier.
I didn't play Stardew Valley but the world reminds me of Trails JRPG series (like Trails in the Sky) with how it's populated with characters living their lives, history, and things and events going on unrelated to the main plot. And the music is important.
Ah man, watching my old stuff haha. Honestly, I was a huge fan of Harvest Moon on the Snes. Farm simulation games are crazy stress relieving man. I started my channel off as Stardew Valley content but the community is a bit toxic and did not want to get involved. Give it a shot, it's cheap as s*&!* bro. Peace.

SD felt boring once I got addicted on Rune Factory 4 Special, best games in this genre, 4 alone has more unique and daily dialogues than every HM game together.
I tried to get into RF before SD came out and I did not like the gameplay... I wonder how the series is now. I'll look into it (^_^)b What are you playing now?
@@ScouterVee RF didn't hook until 20h of playtime for me, once I understood how the farm health works, sharance maze, marriage and relationship with NPCs the game turned out to be the perfect anti-stress spot to spend time, RF5 isn't that good tho. I'm not playing so much because I'm using my free time to develop my own little game, it's a mix of Harvest Moon and Earthbound, there's videos on my channel if you're interested to see how it looks.
