Not that insane, it just involves repeatedly demolishing and rebuilding cabins to keep bringing in new farmhands and getting literally infinite money.
However, since this technique would defeat the purpose of the entire challenge I’m just gonna retroactively ban it haHAA. Imma say the intial three boys and girl are fine, since I slapped their cabins in there when I made the file.
Also, having other people earn money increases the “farm earnings” in the pause screen, so I feel like it’s only fair to snatch their starting gold.

Maybe you can charge up a giant money spirit bomb by asking billions of viewers to give you their starting funds (500) to get you enough money for the vault without actually earning any of it? Also, listen. If the only way you were able to beat the "No moving" challenge in Smash Bros Brawl is by enabling you to move with the C-stick, then you might as well use this glitch.
For those who dislike chairs, the crates in the mines can drop hardwood at a really low rate, so that’s not impossible to get without the chair, just annoying.

There's something so comedic about Sample crafting 50 tea saplings despite needing to craft exactly 0, since you can just go into Caroline's tea room and take a tea leaf from her sapling in there

about the tea leaves: in the last week of every season when they're harvestable, you can just go into caroline's sunroom and steal hers lol
Yea I found this out way later in the run, still need to befriend her but it makes the 50 tea sapling fiasco even more embarrassing

it's very important though to never remove what's already on the bulletin board. once it is completely filled to the brim with papers and thumbtacks, the prophecy will be complete.
Fun fact, if you were to lower the income percentage down to 25% in the menu before you start the game, all of the crops sold in the shops are also quartered in price. Your starting money is unaffected, and since you wont be selling anything it has no real downsides.
The only problem is that house upgrades, the travelling cart, tool upgrades, farm buildings, animals, and the vault bundle are all unaffected by this price decrease. As such, these things are still off the table with your original 500g starting amount.
It's pretty much only crops that are lowered in price.
Just thought that would be interesting, and allow you to potentially buy more items as needed if you were to try this again.
Also, if you place soggy newspaper into a recycling machine, you have a chance to get cloth from that.
Oh shoot, I had no clue that you could lower prices that way, that’s pretty sick. Definitely lowers the minimum gold by a bit since flower seeds are a necessary buy from what I can tell.
You could've planted the Star Fruit within the greenhouse since you did the Pantry before the Bulletin Board to not have to worry about it being summer or it getting smited by Zeus.

My only idea for the vault is to constantly delete the extra houses then buy back a house at the carpenter shop. This will allow you to get a player to join in as a “fresh” player. With this you will net 400 gold every time without adding (500 For the starting player, and -100 to buy the house) You just need a lot of time and another patient person. Though I have not tested this. But if this works then technically you can beat stardew without gaining any farm money.

You can actually crack geodes for one coal each using a geode crusher, which you unlock from doing Clint's special order on the bulliten board. I think the cutscene triggers even if you don't collect the money from the quest log, but I could be mistaken
oo that would've been cool. I'd have to imagine you get the recipe regardless of whether you collect the money from the journal

I love how you add personality to your explanations with bits like the bulletin board and Wrong Warp part in the Meat Boy video, helps with giving context while also being entertaining in itself.

You may have failed the challenge but you went out with a massive bang, and considering that you did basically everything else except the Vault without earning gold, I'd consider this a win in my book!

this challenge feels like the mirror universe version of ArgonMatrix's Price of Perfection challenge. like its the opposite (make the least money as opposed to spend the least money) but they have similar vibes and the strategies used are similar. pretty cool
So for the hard wood you could have also gotten lucky with the barrels in the mines, there's a chance when breaking a barrel to drop hard wood

16:51 The fish pond bundle would actually be doable in 1.6 now since there's a book of power that allows you to get roe from fishing occasionally in chests.
Not to mention, there's also mixed flower seeds now. Tbh I think this challenge may be quite a bit easier now.
Oh boy! I needed this one, as someone who is graduating high school, and moving away soon to go live on a farm, moving away from a big city (No I'm not kidding) I need a way to sustain myself without needing to earn cash. I'll definitely remember to stay safe traveling down the suspicious abandoned mines nearby looking for some Iridium from the monsters in it.
Another great video, the transition to the sponsor was very smooth, and yet again you nailed having a fun explanation for a big problem (Buying that board was worth it) the conundrum of getting hardwood was definitely very fun, and the simplicity of using a chair to solve it is very funny. This seemed like it took a VERY long time to make (If you see this I'd actually like to ask what the final date was in the game, just curious) but it was one of the more interesting videos. And that's saying something considering your content is always a treat to watch.

The biggest thing I have noticed as a great formula is how you break things into chapters with distinct soundtracks. Adding the unnecessary switch up to create chapter 0 was a great touch.

In 1.6, one of the books gives you a low change of getting row in treasure chests, so although it would be torturous, you can complete every room except the vault!
I literally never comment on videos but I honestly get so happy when you post and dread the wait for the next. Ive watched your channel like three times through cause it’s so good
The effort put into this video is incredible, and even though it was a failed challenge in the end, it was incredibly satisfying to see all of the items collected over the entire run sold all at once.
Rewatching this video, this challenge may be a BIT more possible now, thanks to the 1.6 update adding the Raccoon family for more items to obtain without money, as well as the addition of mixed flower seeds
The burglars ring most likely did help, instead of doubling whatever item that mob drops, it actually rolls the chances for item drops twice, meaning you get two chances to spawn an iridium bar per mob

If getting gold from joined players is allowed, which it seemed to be, you could have demolished their homes to let new people join and murder for cash at +400 gold per home demolished and rebuilt. So it would be possible that way

It takes a lot of courage to get that far and then accept defeat, you could have cheesed it by demolishing and rebuilding the cabins sure but that would trivialize the entire challenge. Big respect.

in the mines you can sometimes find crates which give hardwood too
for the ancient doll, tilling soil in the mines has a small chance of dropping an ancient doll, using bombs could speed up the process
27:01 it rolls the item pool twice, so it means that things have double the chance of dropping, but you could also get two at once
