First day of summer first year, plant your melons with speed grow. Then you’ll have a melon (hopefully good quality) for the soup at the luau which will give you a “best soup ever tasted” which means friendship hearts!
If you have a good fishing skill or have spare time or don’t have speed grow or cauliflower, a gold quality sturgeon will do the trick, late game just put a golden magma cap.
To add on top of that fishing tip for the luah, if you fish the ocean (at the rock on far left) during summer you can get a super cucumber (purple worm lookin thing). Gold or iridium of that will get same result as the melon
At the beginning of the game, I recommend checking the fortune teller & waiting until a high Luck day to clear all the rocks on your farm, because high Luck increases the chance of collecting coal & geodes from the rocks. You can actually collect a fair amount of coal & geodes solely from the rocks spawned on your farm if you do this.
I actually use the preserved jars with the sturgeon roe to make caviar that makes the least 500 and at most 700 gold (with the artisan profession) and for the beehives its more valuable with the flowers especially the fairy rose that makes your beehive produce honey worth 680 gold every four days
@@sarachaudhry7416 Hell yes with the food source. Spook Fish are good for this, their Roe chance is high, sells for ok price, and every once in a while you get a treasure chest as a bonus. If you have the automate mod Roe becomes the easiest quality meal for the mines.
Honestly, if you are looking for profit per day and not going to age the wine it is actually more profitable to make jam/jelly. Wine takes 7 days to make while jam/jelly only takes about 3 days. And considering the limited space in your cellar it isn't really a good idea to go crazy with making kegs.
9:11 I totally agree, coal is a very precious resource and hard to get. HOWEVER, if you go to the frozen section of the mines and kill the little black jumpy guys (idk the proper name) they often drop coal! That’s always my go-to way to get coal.
I actually made a Coal Farm in a shed. I have a Forest Farm, so I gather Hard Wood from the stumps and turn them into wood with wood chippers. Then I take that wood and turn them into coal with Coal Kilns/ Forgot the name. Then I just use the Coal to smelt Ore into bars, it actually is a great way to keep up on resources.
I will say-- even if you aren't showing anyone your farm, if you want flowers then get the flowers! This game isn't all about making money right away and having pretty things on the farm is nice too
They're also nice as gifts. Only like 3-4 characters dislike flowers and everyone else likes them. Except poppy. Penny loves it, everyone else.... not so much. But flowers are nice to grow if you want to quickly make friends. Or fruit trees.
yep i speedran through my first playthrough and by end game, I felt like I would have had more fun if I took my time instead of treating it like a race to get money
For coal: head to floor 50 of the mines. Go through, grab any you see, then get the coal at the end of 52. Head down to 53, turn around, head out, then repeat. It's a super short run from 50-52, and it's a good amount of guaranteed coal
Yeah, I was thinking about the fact that I never run out of coal once I get to the dust sprite levels in the mines. After that it's really not a huge deal.
This video was full of really helpful tips, so thank you. BUT playing the whole game according to what will make you the most money is the most Joja thing I ever heard.
I'm still a bit new (wrapping up year 2) and I've been giving him mayo and cheese. I got up to three hearts with him pretty quick that way. He doesn't know it yet, but we're getting married.

Some tips of my own! 1) For flowers, I find them really useful for upping friendship meters. Except for the poppies, everyone hates poppies except for Penny. Just be sure to check the characters likes and dislikes. 2) If you find a dinosaur egg. KEEP IT. DO NOT sell them/donate them to the museum. Idk if this is in the normal gameplay or the randomized prize version but you have to make dinosaur mayo to complete rebuilding the former jojomart center. Keep the dinosaur egg until you get a chicken coop with an incubator, you can hatch the egg and the dinosaur will lay more eggs you can donate/sell/make into mayo. 3) If you catch a sturgeon, KEEP IT until you've built a fish pond. DO NOT SELL/EAT IT. You might need caviar to finish rebuilding the former jojomart shop. Throw it into the pond, then they'll lay eggs n breed more sturgeon to sell/eat/turn into caviar. 4) When given the choice between fruit bats bringing you tree fruit or growing mushrooms, go with the mushrooms and keep atleast 2 of each mushroom. When you unlock the recipe for the life elixcer you'll be able to make alot of it instead of shelling out a bunch of gold everytime you go mining. 5) Try to first clear a path to the green house, northern entrance, and southern entrance before clearing out the rest of your farm. It'll help save a bunch of time and fuss when you have to run off for quests. 6) Make sure to aleast get 3 pumpkins and save one, Abigail's mom will ask for a pumpkin to carve with Abigail near the end of fall. 7) Try and hold onto 9 of any silver/gold/purple star item, that way you'll be able to win the stardew fair your first year.
@@cymonmonica8634 For me, it's because he's a romantic, he speaks elegantly as if he was a prince before he came to the valley, and his handsomeness is unconventional compared to the others. Also he HIGH-KEY looks like Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast
Bee houses are actually really good with when they are well-positioned around fairy roses or other valuable flowers, especially when they are on Ginger Island. If you need coal, spray on the monster musk and kill dust sprites by spamming 45, 55, and 65
Side note, you WILL need a steel watering can at the very least if you want to go through the volcano dungeon in any reasonable way. So don't just nix the watering can after you get the sprinklers
@@maaria8239 after you complete the Community center or Joja, walk into Willy's shop and he'll tell you how to get there. This isn't updated yet on Mobile, though.
Blueberries are only good for the first year. On the second year, you "should" have the desert unlocked, and you should have some kegs. Prio getting Oak Resin from tree's to make LOT's of kegs, and plant Starfruit. Starfruit has a MUCH higher income than Blueberries, especially if you turn it into Wine (Each Starfruit Wine sells for 3,150 with Artisan Perk). Coal isn't difficult to farm. Just kill Dust Sprites on floor 45 over and over (Going down the ladder's if they show up) until you kill 500 of them to get the burglar ring, then keep killing Dust Sprites on floor 45. Every one, or close to every one, with the burglar ring gives you coal. Meaning, once you get that ring, you can easily farm 50-100 a day. Once you have enough money though, it's always worth just buying 1-2 stacks, if not more. Preserves Jars take 3 days to make jelly. I only have 26 Jars atm, but, I'm making 10k every 3 days from he jars alone, and this is on Summer year 1, so, it's a lot. You'll make a LOT more once you full a shed with them (Think it's like 120-130 Jars altogether). Since you're growing crops anyway (Like Blueberries and Cranberries), turning them in to Jelly is much more profitable. Agree that Hardwood is valuable, but, not in the way you're thinking. You can usually get 1-2 Mahogany Seeds from the Secret Woods a day (Every mob and all the stumps have a chance to drop one), meaning you CAN make a major Hardwood farm at the train station or something. I use Hardwood farms to make normal Wood, as it's a lot better space-wise, since you get more wood from 1-2 hardwood through the wood chipper than you do from cutting down a tree, and you usually get 5-8 Hardwood per tree. Chub's are your best thing to eat. Chub's and Smallmouth Bass. They both give the same amount of energy, and they also give you the most energy per 1 gold, so it's kind of a "min-max" thing :P For Animal's, at least get the starter Barn and Coop. Having 4 Chicken's and 4 Cows makes you 1.5-2k a day from them, going up the longer you have them and keep them happy. This is an easy way to have a steady income for when you want to buy things. I never use the basic sprinklers. I always go for Quality one's. I just speed down to floor 80, then farm up the iron, gold and quartz, and usually end up with 15 quality sprinklers for my main crop (120 crops) and 5-10 spare for anything else by the end of Spring. The basic sprinklers can be useful, but, they're kind of a waste. 1 iron bar and 1 copper bar to water 4 spot's is not worth it. That iron and copper could be used for something else (Like Kegs, Glowstone Rings and Tappers). For the watering can, it's a good idea to try to get it to Copper before the 13th (Strawberries), that way, you can plant 100-150 Strawberries in your first spring and have plenty of energy to water it all without having to waste valuable food (Salmonberries start on the 15th-18th Spring). Just get to floor 20, spam floor 21 for copper, do a little fishing for the 2k if you don't have enough and make it. It's more helpful in the long run, especially when you are setting up the next season's crops. You only need it to be copper though, and you can upgrade it higher once you get to Winter if you want (To make year 2's Spring setup a LOT easier). Sorry for the essay. I have a lot of time in this game as well, so thought I'd share some of my knowledge too!. BUT, the BIGGEST TIP I CAN GIVE YOU IS play it at your own speed! There is no timer for this game, you don't need to "beat it as fast as possible". Don't feel bad because you don't do the Community Centre on year 1/2. First time I played, it took me till Fall of year 1 to even REALIZE it was a thing, then took me till year 4 to complete it (Before I found out about Stardew Wiki, the saviour of a website xD). Play at your own pace, play it the way YOU want too and do it YOUR way. THAT is the best experience for this game.
I can’t thank you enough for all these good advices. It’s my first time playing Stardew Valley and I’ve been struggling so much lmao, I was so desperate because I didn’t understand a lot of things (such as the Community Center for instance). Thank you so much! ❤️
I always make a hardwood farm. Once you get it started the trees will shed seeds and spread. You can harvest out the seeds to keep the tree farm thinned out. Then use those seeds to replant after a tree harvest. One mahogany Tree is good for about 10 hardwood, the stumps around 2 or 3. I start grinding out my hardwood farm as soon as I can get the steel pickaxe.
@@Daaisies It's not a problem! I have way too much time in this game, and had too much time on my hands when posting this comment xD. If there's anything else you're struggling with, I'm more than happy to point you in the right direction (Unless Therm beat's me too it :P).
Fun fact about hardwood: If you choose the four corners farm, in the top left section, there is a hardwood stump that generates everyday! This allows you to get hardwood before the secret forest because the hardwood stumps require an upgrade under what the fallen log requires.
Another tip for me is getting the mine carts as soon as possible by unlocking them in the community center. It essentially unlocks fast travel that saves a lot of time over the long haul
I'd argue that upgrading your watering can is definitely worth it. Usually you have enough copper within the first couple of in game weeks to craft the copper bars necessary to do it. Being able to use the first (copper) upgrade to water three squares instead of one is so much faster, and when you're in a new game, the only thing that depletes faster than your energy is time.
But with sprinklers one'd never use the watering can. I use the watering can until I can sprinkle, then it just sits in a chest and collects dust and water mites.
I’d argue that the watering can upgrades are good, but not for farming. It’s for ginger island. That’s the only time I’d say would be a good time to upgrade it
A tip about farming stuff for energy is choosing the Mushrooms over the bats when demtrius ask u about the cave, u'll have a bunch of common mushrooms always with u (u'll get like 4-6 common every 2 day), it's veru useful for the mines to have always something to eat for energy and health
Right that's me. I'd reasonably say between the few platforms I've played on I have like a solid 80 hours wich isn't anything to brag on but I know nothing I've just scratched the surface. I feel like I'm playing graveyard keeper all over again except this game doesn't end.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who appreciates coal! To add to one of your tips: having energy left, you should either go foraging or fishing. The foraging items are amazing but you might also want to keep an eye in the fish tank bundles to be able to access the quarry. I also have tons of chests around. Next to the mines and skull caverns I keep a chest where I stock up bombs and ladders whenever I have some and unload my items to keep on mining. Also chests next to my fishing spots for the same reason. And, ofc, chests in places close to the characters' houses with some of their preffered items. The forest farm also has stumps that gives hardwood that respawns and iirc it can also give some forraging items. The beach farm , as you are aware, sometimes also gets some goodies. The 4 corners map can also be used in the single player for all the conveniences.
I chose the beach farm as my first farm. When reading the description of each farm and then final deciding on the beach farm I thought " Pfffffft who needs sprinklers!?" I DO. I NEED SPRINKLERS.
I was looking up farm layouts today and because I love water I thought "maybe I'll make a new game on a beach farm?" then I looked up the description with "no sprinkles" text and I immediately noped out of this idea xD
that's why me and my friends started a whole new farm after realizing wow no sprinklers is hell. the separate farms have been doing us justice now thankfully.
That community center tree icon glowing tip just gave my life a new meaning. I don't know what i will do with the pages i had written down of items i needed for the community center now, but with the stardew mindset i think use them as energy to make copper bars.
Something that helps me with burnout.. I watch other people play (such as 100 days of Stardew Valley, there seems to be a fair amount of variety) and that ends up giving me motivation to go back to it. A bit late, but hopefully someone finds this helpful
definitely !! watching these videos has renewed my spark for the game and i love it. it always gives me new ideas to try since i find myself bogged down by the routine
@@notjazz. You're being unreasonably hostile. You didn't have to comment on this, so this just shows 1. your emotional immaturity, and 2. you must be having a bad day. Lmao. One of the best tips I got out of this wasn’t even a dedicated tip. I didn’t realize you had to donate the dwarf scrolls to the dwarf to understand him. I though it would be something once we became friends finally.
"Don't talk to Elliot." I... worked so hard to get married with him in Fall on the first year- he took my flower dance virginity- i- WE HAVE A BABY BOY TOGETHER
Don’t worry, clearly he meant “Don’t talk to Elliot because he is Tink’s husband who took their flower dance virginity and because they have a baby boy together”
"clean your farm early" That's a really good tip, I wish I would have heard earlier xD On my first farm, which I started like 3years ago, I didn't care about that. At some point, I saw what the outcome was and spent two actual days (not whole, im not going to play stardew the whole day) to clean all of that.
It could be that he's just "too" perfect, the same with Haley. They feel like fake people or too good for everyone. But I haven't got to know either of them yet in my play through that's just the vibes they give off
Bruh, preserve jars are LEGIT! It’s only 3 days turnover and makes those blueberries worth so much more instead of just dumping them into the bin. One thing I learned, preserve jar work way better for veggies in terms of profit
Yeah Veggie Juice is only 2.25 x base price while Wine is 3 x base price. Preserve jars are 2 x base price + 50g. So if you wanted to sell something like salmonberries, preserving them nets you 60g when they only sell for 5g without it. It gives you 12x the price, waaaaay more than salmonberry wine which is 15g. That's why blueberries work, because it gives you 2 x 50g + 50g, which is wine's price (3 x 50g) but half the time.
@@halfprince yes and you also can't age juice to make it even more valuable, so I always just preserve veggies and wine fruits and berries. Any leftover berries cause wine takes longer to make also go to preserves jar.
A great tip for collecting hardwood is to save all your mahogany seeds in the first year and when you unlock the quarry clear it out and plant yourself a giant mahogany tree farm.
in my first play through, i tried giving Elliot one of my very useful and nice Field Snacks (a good present i thought) but it turns out it was his birthday and he didn't appreciate it very much :(
You know that field snacks are made of pine cones, right? I wouldn't be particularly happy to get pine cones for my birthday either.... Especially if it's supposed to be eaten???
Mahogany farming is actually awesome though, im so glad they added those trees. Set it up in the dessert and plant like 100 of them and you'll get your times worth
Honestly I disliked Elliot bc I gave him quartz as the first gift I gave him bc he seemed like the type to appreciate a shiny rock and he didn't so. I will say he's a good husband and I like his 14 heart event but I'm not crazy his other heart events
A good tip also on the first day of the file, instead of waiting for the store to open at 9 so u can spam buy parsnips with ur starting 500 gold, u could try to make use of the full energy given and chop some trees and basically clear up the place alil bit, u get materials and also making good use of time
Animals are actually a good way of makeing money, especially pigs, they make about 2 truffles per day each so with lvl 10 forageing thats 2400 a day per pig, so thats 28800 per barn everyday, even more if you turn them into oil, thats more than most crops
it seems nice but you have to pet them everyday, buy hay and expend money and materials to build the barn. costs a lot more than crops and make it less profitable
@@eduardo.ateixeira Barns arent really that expensive, i got 3 in one year on the side while not trying and another 3 in 1 season after that, but i guess im kinda endgame, as for the hay thats a daily 50 gold for every 2400 and thats if dont have grass, as for petting, theres auto petters
@@DarkAngel-ti6ti yeah I actually hate dealing with animals so maybe I can't see the good side of having lots of pigs 😁. I have a +200h save and I kept a lot of animals drops just in case I need and sold the barns and coops hahahah

Currently doing a florist challenge where I can only sell flowers (and the seasonal foragebles because im weak and adore them) It's definitely been a fun challenge so far! I'm still in Spring and just about to have my first harvest of Blue Jazz flower
Flowers are great for honey, for decorating in front of your home, and for putting in the grange. Sunflowers can be processed into oil for cooking so you don't have to buy it, plus they produce their own seeds automatically.
Here's a tip for people with greenhouses I like to use:): Plant reusable plants like cranberries, coffee beans, hops, green beans, eggplant, and strawberries inside of your greenhouse so even during the winter you gain money through crops (I personally like to go side to side with my crops) (also please remember that some crops have a wooden fence on it which prevents you from walking through them.) Edit 2: also on the three day night fishing event at the beach, the travelling cart sells an iridium ore for 600 gold daily. 100% utilize
but focusing solely on profits kinda takes the fun away from the game, like sure it's definitely important to get cool advanced stuff but i think some aspects of the game are there just to be enjoyed not so that you can maximize your profits
There are farmers who farm for the love of it, there are also farmers who are strictly driven by profits. That's just life my guy. Doesnt matter why your neighbor has his farm, it only matters as to what you and your purpose of yours is
1. Leave a chest in the places you go frequently if you are running out of inventory space (ex: blacksmith. I usually mass open my geodes so I have a chest next to his counter so I can put what I need in there and continue opening my geodes). 2. Use your totems. I use my totems to get to the calico desert and always have a farm one on me when I go to the mines in the desert. It has saved me so many times from either passing out in there or dying (replace your sword/whatever you have on hand with the totem and exit your inventory while spamming the right click).
My tips are to upgrade the watering can if you know the next day will be raining, cause you won't lose out on watering your plants AND the watering can upgrade is useful because if you're like me you try and farm giant crops (cauliflower, melons, and pumpkins) and to do this they need to be in a 3 x 3 square so you can't use a sprinkler to water them. Upgrade to at least gold to easily water your bigger crops.
just be careful if there's a festival on the day you're supposed to get it back. I got goofed by the flower dance and missed out on a harvest because of one missed day of watering.
i have 200+ hours on this game and yet I never knew that the mountain area was the best to fish or that cranberries are awesome thank you very much I shall use this
The bee houses turn out a really good profit if you plant flowers around them and then they create "Tulip Honey" etc which sells for a lot more. Fairy Roses I think are the best to use for this
A thing I discovered recently is if you hold down right click while petting it never goes to the animal's info screen. Just keep it held down and mouse over all your animal's. Works with picking plants too. I usually have the sword or scythe in hand to avoid wasting energy or destroying something with a errant swing.
I'm always amazed that people aren't aware of the right click=faster harvesting/petting, cause I discovered it completely on accident on my first farm during spring I was just mashing buttons, to be fair
"don't talk to Elliott. Ever." My gay ass, Year One, chosing midnight squid for my fishpond with the express purpose of romancing this twunk with ink bottles: Agree to disagree.
@@yourboi5492 I didn't get the greenhouse year one of my first playthrough, funnily enough! I did choose the fruit bat cave, maybe got a couple of pomegranates, but overall it was easier for me, ironically, to catch a squid in the submarine than get 15 gold food items 😒
Exactly this. Killing 500 Dust Sprite's gives you a Burglar's ring as well, which increases mob drops, meaning the drop coal almost all the time instead of a 50% chance.
If I need coal I just bounce between level 45 and 55 on the elevator and kill whichever sprites are closest! Definitely faster than getting wood and putting it in kilns
The forest farm is awesome for hard wood. You get 8 stumps daily. So hardwood adds up really fast. I had so much at one time I would make it into normal wood with the chipper because I didn't have enough. You can also catch a woodskip on your farm.
Preserves jars are actually good imo you just gotta know what to put in it. e.g.: pickles >>>> jellies, caviar sells for quite the money too. Beehives on the other hand… well it’s literally passive money every 4 days so what could go wrong? Make sure to plant flowers near it though, it really does make a difference lol I have like 50 beehives on my farm producing seasonal flower honey. I make somewhere around 14k-47k (with artisan perks) every 4 days depending on the season, and of course depending on the flowers as well. I usually only plant blue jazz, summer spangle, and fairy rose.
My boyfriend and his friend gifted me Stardew yesterday (bless them, thought I would mention it cuz I love them 🤧) and this video is super helpful as a major beginner!!! And these comments are really helpful too :))
I started playing this game because I played all the harvest moon games growing up and this game gives me that nostalgia 😂 I will say though, the art style of harvest moon is much better with the newer games. The animals are so cute 🥺
I really have to disagree about your stance on the preserve jar. I guess mainly in comparing it with the keg. This might just relate to ancient fruit or starfruit, but you make more money from the preserve jars. They take, I think 3 days in compared to 7 with the keg. If you're not concerned with making the most money out of something, I would say go with kegs, but those also take oak resin which require tree tappers on a lot of trees. You can buy coal from Clint. I do agree that 8 coal is steep, but purely from a monetary way of thinking, preserve jars are the way to go. 1200+ hr player here, thanks for your videos!
On my current save file four corrners farm (y4) i cleared the whole area and used one of the four areas on my farm with trees and tappers to make alot of kegs and then i built 5 lvl2 sheds filled with kegs and when i was done with the trees i cleared out the area with bombs and then turned it to another farming area with iridium sprinklers and junimo hutsw

Comment on the preserve jars (read if you're interested): Preserves and Jellies return the value of 2*[value of the original crop] + 50g. This means that they are worth it only if you're going to have a reliable, year-round supply of high-value crops to go in them. Strawberries, Blueberries, Cranberries all make good jam.
A couple things...you CAN farm coal in the ice section of the cave by attacking the little black sprite creatures. Preserve jars aren't the best profit wise but you should still have some because jams and jellys make great gifts for people. In almost all cases, you can gain friendship points by giving out jams It isnt a loved gift (maybe for someone it is) but you can consistently just give these out to raise friendship levels. The plantable hardwood trees are actually pretty great. Don't ignore them. Aside from a few items I disagree with, this was a good video.

Thank you! Gonna try this for my next save
If you have a good fishing skill or have spare time or don’t have speed grow or cauliflower, a gold quality sturgeon will do the trick, late game just put a golden magma cap.
wow! thanks, that's actually really helpful
10/10 tip
Thanks this helps a lot!

Ooh, I never thought of this! I hold onto my geodes until high luck days, though.
I actually use the preserved jars with the sturgeon roe to make caviar that makes the least 500 and at most 700 gold (with the artisan profession) and for the beehives its more valuable with the flowers especially the fairy rose that makes your beehive produce honey worth 680 gold every four days
not much but it makes passive money while you do other stuff like mine or complete quest
I agree I use preserve jars on my roe and it makes me good money and is a good food source when it becomes aged roe
I saw that aged lava eel roe makes more money I think it was like 1,064 gold or something?
Dust sprites!
i always call those little guys "walking coal" because they always drop coal when they dies
I actually made a Coal Farm in a shed. I have a Forest Farm, so I gather Hard Wood from the stumps and turn them into wood with wood chippers.
Then I take that wood and turn them into coal with Coal Kilns/ Forgot the name.
Then I just use the Coal to smelt Ore into bars, it actually is a great way to keep up on resources.
yesss! i love the dust sprite🫶🏻
I know they’re called Dust Sprites; but I call them Soot Sprites from Spirited Away 😊
I will say-- even if you aren't showing anyone your farm, if you want flowers then get the flowers! This game isn't all about making money right away and having pretty things on the farm is nice too
He himself said to take all he says with a grain of salt, he's just speaking from experience
They're also nice as gifts. Only like 3-4 characters dislike flowers and everyone else likes them. Except poppy. Penny loves it, everyone else.... not so much. But flowers are nice to grow if you want to quickly make friends. Or fruit trees.
yep i speedran through my first playthrough and by end game, I felt like I would have had more fun if I took my time instead of treating it like a race to get money
specially if you want hearts- i always plant blue jazz cause almost everyone likes it, like Shane lol
And the sunflowers give seeds back when you harvest so they basically end up being self-sustaining after initial purchase!
After that it's really not a huge deal.
i just use a coal maker.
@@BigIndianBindi-jy1czyeah but then you loose alot of wood

@@AZOrchid good choice

They both give the same amount of energy, and they also give you the most energy per 1 gold, so it's kind of a "min-max" thing :P
For Animal's, at least get the starter Barn and Coop.
Lots of good advice... I didn't even get the greenhouse on my first save file until year 4... I do put wheat in the kegs for cheap beer
Couldn't agree more
Fun fact about hardwood: If you choose the four corners farm, in the top left section, there is a hardwood stump that generates everyday! This allows you to get hardwood before the secret forest because the hardwood stumps require an upgrade under what the fallen log requires.

Another tip for me is getting the mine carts as soon as possible by unlocking them in the community center. It essentially unlocks fast travel that saves a lot of time over the long haul
damn you can turn on the carts?
I'd argue that upgrading your watering can is definitely worth it. Usually you have enough copper within the first couple of in game weeks to craft the copper bars necessary to do it. Being able to use the first (copper) upgrade to water three squares instead of one is so much faster, and when you're in a new game, the only thing that depletes faster than your energy is time.
But with sprinklers one'd never use the watering can. I use the watering can until I can sprinkle, then it just sits in a chest and collects dust and water mites.
I’d argue that the watering can upgrades are good, but not for farming. It’s for ginger island. That’s the only time I’d say would be a good time to upgrade it
Actually, you'll need to upgrade it if you unlock Ginger Island (it is kind of necessary )
I waited for winter to upgrade my can before I had the greenhouse.
I’d say that if you play slow like me and are horrible at the mine, upgrading your watering can is the best option
A tip about farming stuff for energy is choosing the Mushrooms over the bats when demtrius ask u about the cave, u'll have a bunch of common mushrooms always with u (u'll get like 4-6 common every 2 day), it's veru useful for the mines to have always something to eat for energy and health

I had a chest by the mines and the seasons changed over and it disappeared. 😂😂 It made me nervous to put chests around off my farm.
Clear out the bottom space where all the trees are on the beach farm. You can put sprinklers there still.
i chose the riverland farm thinking id do lots of fishing on my farm

Bruh, preserve jars are LEGIT! It’s only 3 days turnover and makes those blueberries worth so much more instead of just dumping them into the bin.
One thing I learned, preserve jar work way better for veggies in terms of profit
Exactly
Yeah Veggie Juice is only 2.25 x base price while Wine is 3 x base price. Preserve jars are 2 x base price + 50g. So if you wanted to sell something like salmonberries, preserving them nets you 60g when they only sell for 5g without it. It gives you 12x the price, waaaaay more than salmonberry wine which is 15g. That's why blueberries work, because it gives you 2 x 50g + 50g, which is wine's price (3 x 50g) but half the time.
Pickling pumpkins is maddd esp for beginners / year 1, imo
@@halfprince yes and you also can't age juice to make it even more valuable, so I always just preserve veggies and wine fruits and berries. Any leftover berries cause wine takes longer to make also go to preserves jar.

Animals are actually a good way of makeing money, especially pigs, they make about 2 truffles per day each so with lvl 10 forageing thats 2400 a day per pig, so thats 28800 per barn everyday, even more if you turn them into oil, thats more than most crops
That is 36k per barn per day if you make oil, insaaaane
it seems nice but you have to pet them everyday, buy hay and expend money and materials to build the barn. costs a lot more than crops and make it less profitable

but focusing solely on profits kinda takes the fun away from the game, like sure it's definitely important to get cool advanced stuff but i think some aspects of the game are there just to be enjoyed not so that you can maximize your profits
Everyone plays differently do what makes you happy simply
There are farmers who farm for the love of it, there are also farmers who are strictly driven by profits. That's just life my guy. Doesnt matter why your neighbor has his farm, it only matters as to what you and your purpose of yours is
maximizing profits is what makes the game fun.
@@dylanb2990 For you, maybe, but for others it isn't.
Some of us have the fantasy of making a lot of money lol

Thank you so much! I took very thorough notes!
Great content!
im regretting my choices of starting on the beach not knowing how to play
I like your pfp
I just married Elliot and he calls me pretty every day, so shut
My tips are to upgrade the watering can if you know the next day will be raining, cause you won't lose out on watering your plants AND the watering can upgrade is useful because if you're like me you try and farm giant crops (cauliflower, melons, and pumpkins) and to do this they need to be in a 3 x 3 square so you can't use a sprinkler to water them. Upgrade to at least gold to easily water your bigger crops.
just be careful if there's a festival on the day you're supposed to get it back. I got goofed by the flower dance and missed out on a harvest because of one missed day of watering.
I grow some Blue Jazz flowers in my greenhouse as needed to make sure that I have some on hand for creating Lucky Lunches (Luck +3).
i have 200+ hours on this game and yet I never knew that the mountain area was the best to fish or that cranberries are awesome thank you very much I shall use this
"don't talk to Elliot"
me almost getting married with Elliot: "but why??"
I'm always amazed that people aren't aware of the right click=faster harvesting/petting, cause I discovered it completely on accident on my first farm during spring
I was just mashing buttons, to be fair
@@rendmedead I just assumed that was how you were meant to harvest/pet because my first instinct was to use right click to do those things
@@DespOIcito yeah dude, same. I think Stardew attacts people with little to no gaming experience, and that's why it's such a phenomenon here
9:58 Yeah but you can make caviar with preserve jars which is valuable and is used to complete the “missing” bundle for the theatre

My gay ass, Year One, chosing midnight squid for my fishpond with the express purpose of romancing this twunk with ink bottles: Agree to disagree.
Just have a pomegranate tree in a greenhouse.

Love this video - I only came here for tips, but ended up subscribing because of your presentation style :)
I didn't even realise I had to pet the animals
The little "I'm an idiot" is relatable and adorable
You need honey for those extremely convenient farm teleporters though
“don’t talk to elliott”
i’ve married him in every single save file i’ve made
17:01 you are cool bro, and have all my respect! I really liked the effort put in this video and i wish you good luck!
From the harvesting methods to the early game tips, these tips were really helpful! Thanks so much
Dust sprite very frequently drop coal, they start appearing at level 40 in the mine.
I prefer to just explore the mine till I find a cart or pack. Especially early game. After I get a high quality sword then it doesn't matter.
I’ve played this for years and this is all new and helpful for me. THANK YOU! Going to to run and play bow
The forest farm is awesome for hard wood. You get 8 stumps daily. So hardwood adds up really fast. I had so much at one time I would make it into normal wood with the chipper because I didn't have enough. You can also catch a woodskip on your farm.
09:36 that's eight coal you're never getting back XDDDD i fckin laughed out loud
"flowers suck"
me, who plants tulips every year so i can get Evelyn to be my grandmother: :0
Preserve jars are great. Lava eel ponds + preserve jars = $$$$$
I know that's a basic message, but thanks for the informative content! I really appreciate it.
I am so bad at this game lmao
things i do wrong:
∙ go to bed at 6:30am to skip time
∙ have 7 crops
∙ have nothing in year 5
∙ dont fish
- sorry if this is triggering :3
Everyone plays the game differently, so as long as you're enjoying yourself it really doesn't matter :)
wow........that's quite a way to play
i HATE fishing, and all my friends get on me about it but its so aggravating especially early game, i only do it when i absolutely need it
I always get boerd afyer year 3 or 4 bc i wont have anything else to do
@@fekdjdhsijsxj i think u should start to do more fishing so u can get better at it and i used to be really bad at fishing and when i started to do fishing alot i started to get better at it
And now i finished the master angler achivement on 2 or 3 save files, and now im planning to start a new farm but with only fishing as a way to get money with the river farm i can also use fish ponds maybe u can try that too
Thanks for the tips! Just purchased the game yesterday, looking forward to it
I'm married to Elliott so really need to talk to him EVERY day. Now Haley is someone you should avoid like the plague!

Come on, Haley is my favourite marriable character. Hated her at first, but her character development is insane - the best of the game, in my opinion. Haley is 10/10 - also the cutiest wife quotes (at least for female chars)

Comment on the preserve jars (read if you're interested):
Preserves and Jellies return the value of 2*[value of the original crop] + 50g. This means that they are worth it only if you're going to have a reliable, year-round supply of high-value crops to go in them. Strawberries, Blueberries, Cranberries all make good jam.
wow i love your tips i just started stardew valley im also excited to watch your playyy through :D xD
I'm glad!
8:50 Coal is actually pretty easy to get. Just need a lot of wood and charcoal kilns. You only need foraging level 4 to unlock the recipe.
Great tip

The mahogany trees are really sustainable. You get them everywhere. And you can use many places including the quarry to plant them. Also coal farming on floors 40-70.
But good video all around.
As someone who just started for the first time, I'm so glad I found this. It's super helpful and I'm on day 15 of spring coincidentally so I'm gonna go get some of those berries
You can actually grind coal at level 40-50 in the mines, you can kill dust sprite and they drop like 1-2 coal and dust Sprites often spawn in groups 1-10
