There is two guitarists ( Herman and Sam) that share leads during songs and compliment each other's skills on stage. I've seen them twice live and yes they are still this fast( it's straight up speed metal riffs extended).
When Sam and Herman approach the front of the stage for a lead duel the crowd and atmosphere is phenomenal,a must see show.
Tell me they still do the 3 way with the keytar...

I got a 98 percent once, mastered the intro and solos, when that was the ONLY game I played for like 2 years. Then Rock Band came and I dominated that and got a special drum set with the cymbals that act as different notes to hit, dominated that. Felt like a real drummer.
And then, I look back, and realize... why the f**k didn't I play real guitar and/or drums instead and learn something? Damn it. I could be professional if I learned real instruments in that time.
I've never seen ANYBODY come out of those solo's anything but amazed. It's just nuts to see them actually do it.
Vin's reaction was Priceless!!!! And if I'm not mistaken Dragonforce or especially Herman Li one of Guitarist is a group that if you reach out to them they will work with you! Just reach out to them he tell you how he is on Instagram Twitch and UA-cam. And Live the Normal Official video shows both guitarist playing in real time. Glad you are people that appreciate the music and dont fault their style of singing. If after you reach out to them and get the ok from Herman. REALLY should check out Operation Ground and Pound! It's right up there with this. And official video is hilarious. Cant wait to see more from you on Dragonforce.

Herman Li & Sam Totman (guitars) are the key members of Dragonforce... beer, video games & guitars are their 3 excesses on & off stage! 🤣 They are not a stadium band (yet) It's strange that they were rising fast... but after 'Guitar Hero' was discontinued and original singer Z.P. Theart left Dragonforce, their popularity crashed...
They had to start from scratch w/ lead singer Marc Hudson, but kept recording, playing clubs and built their base back up to today... They still rip onstage; they should be back on the road soon...

Best reaction to this song I've ever seen! And you played the full version instead of the official video, which cuts out around 2 minutes of song! Damn, this song takes me back... So damn good! High energy, heavy hitting, anime super saiyan shredding! Just so great. And yeah, you nailed it. In spite of the insane speed of the drums and strings, the song kept its pace and it all melded so well together! I love just going through the song to pick out notes I miss. THERE'S SO MANY TO CATCH!! lol It's just ear candy. So hard to imagine how you play that fast AND perfectly.

I remember the first time I ever heard this and saw the music video and just being absolutely blown away by that solo.
This song is basically the boss level of power metal. I'm not a fan of power metal, but I love this song. You guys should watch Herman Lis channel. There's a video of him jamming this song (yes, for some superhuman people that is in fact possible) with guests. He is quitethe awesome dude. Plus he has a fan that blows his hair when he plays guitar in front of his computer 🤘 what's not to like 😎

Also, many guitarists never get to the point that they can play that well, that fast but they found one that could do it and another that could give him a run for his money. ❤❤❤ Plus having a drummer that can kick drum at that tempo and a bass player that's right up there with them? Fantastic!
There is such a special band to see live. My house dj ass went with a hippie and this Irish guy who had never heard them. We were by a dad and his 11 year old kid, a woman in her late 40's, some metalheads, and a guy who looked like Skrillix. Music Makes the People Come Together.

I just love the way dragonforce sounds. Its just so beautiful to see sam totman and herman li play off each other in perfect sync. They are also kind of... insane live. I mean in the sense that they get up to all kinds of crazy shit on their performances. For a band of this caliber, they seem to have very little ego.

Their new singer Marc Hudson, they kind of have different tones , but some great songs like the Game you should do next . Very heavy . If you want to hear Marc's take on high pitch and death metal vocals , listen to Edge of the world , that song is an adventure. Amazing song. Some other good ones are Fallen World, Tomarrows kings, Highway to oblivion , Cosmic power of the infinite shred machine, Razorblade meltdown, so many good songs . Have all their albums can't recommend them enough . Same with their live Blu ray show they released that they performed in Japan . Highly recommend watching that . It's called In The Line of Fire .
Met Sam Totman (co lead guitarist) on a night out in Nottingham once - one of the loveliest guys you can meet, even if he was slightly tipsy that particular night!

I've seen them live once and Sam and Herman killed it, obviously they didn't played the same solo note for note but still the speed and phrasings were better than the original (for me).
Yeah I've seen them try like ten times and it's never even close to the studio performance. Herman Li has even admitted that making the song so hard was a mistake that he regrets. So, yeah.

Herman Li is so underrated. Alot of people say hes all speed and nothing else but thats clearly not the case. The signature part in this solo for example is the slow part of his second main solo. The same for his Heroes solo with the finger wah part. Yes there are better guitarists, Herman will tell you that himself, but he is very consistent album to album, and has a style that just resonates with people, which is more than alot of virtuosos can say.

You not seeing how Dragonforce and Unleash the Archers are in the same stratosphere just shows how far you still have to go in your musical learnin'. Foremost, there's a reason why Dragonforce brought them on their final tour before COVID (I think they only were able to play about half the dates before it all got shut down). But setting that aside, Dragonforce sounds insane because of the incredible speed at which its played, but as Herman would tell you, not only is TTFATF not even their hardest song, many other power metal bands have much harder songs to play (Faster than Light by Unleash the Archers for example). Awakening being one of those, which is much harder play throughout and has solo section that used much more advanced techniques than TTFATF. And even if you do rank the guitar higher (which is pretty fair, TTFATF may be a bit of a meme but its a pretty difficult song), Unleash the Archers destroys Dragonforce in the other instrument departments.
I'm not a huge fan of Dragonforce myself (though I do love the song Valley of the Damned) but I have a ton of respect for Herman Li, who is just a great guy and a huge support of the guitar and rocksmith community on twitch. He just finished up doing a fundraiser for guitarist Jason Becker. But this jihad against Unleash the Archers is just silly.
In Dragonforce's defense though, its kinda unfair to compare them to Unleash the Archers which is much more Progressive Power Metal. A more direct comparison to Dragonforce would be Rhapsody or Angra
As for seeing this song played live. There are some live videos out there, its not really much studio trickery. They can do all of it live, but as I said the song isn't quite as hard as it sounds on first listen, its primarily a ton of extremely fast hammer ons and pull off's, paired with some string skipping and alternate picking. There is some fast tapping but there is no sweep tapping or multi finger tapping required (though you can certainly play some parts of the solo with sweep tapping to make it a little simpler to keep up).
