Thanks Dwain , yeah Dolby Vision passthrough its a must , however some of these brands do this purposely so that you will need to upgrade and buy another Model from them , but even if you have to sell it and upgrade to a better model with all of these options , its still worth it , cause of the future proof longevity of a product , hence the word , Value of the product with money spent .

This is not working for me. I have a SONY STR-DN1080 which is been updated to eARC and the OLED77C8 set to HDMI ARC-AUTO and the Atmos option is not enabled on the receiver neither from the Dolby app or Netflix

I have the LG oled c7 with the Samsung K950 Atmos sound bar I run the tv to the sound bar via HDMI arc it won’t play Atmos but my Xbox one x runs hdmi to the sound bar plays Atmos no problem anybody have the same problem?
i have the 55C7D and the latest firmware but I'm not able to get atmos out of the TV, the receiver allsways shows DTS, if i connect my pc over hdmi the receiver shows atmos and uses the two additional speakers, what do i need to set up in the tv to get atmos out?

Dolby Vision is a visual codec so thats understandable, but Atmos, no because tv speakers or a sound bar would never reproduce what a receiver and speakers can do and with atmos in the receiver, their is no need for this in a tv. Hi Mr4K, Netflix just released its first Dolby Atmos content on your Tv set, maybe the app need an update. The movie is called Okja. Could you test "Blame!" ? It's a animated film in HDR on Netflix, this one will receive Atmos but only late next month.

So if your receiver doesnt have dolby atmos by doing the auto return audio channel you can still get dolby atmos on your receiver..? but your movies/tv shows need to be programmed in dolby atmos no? Im using not a bluray or anything just pc with harddrive to watch things on my tv.
based on this video, you are experiencing lowest quality of Dolby atmos. C7 supports only ARC not eARC. best atmos content can be experienced by running through your content source via hdmi-in of your receiver. arc supports atmos over dolby digital plus, lesser quality compared atmos over dolby truehd format.

So I also have a LG OLED C7, but I bought a Sony HT ST5000 sound bar. The indication that Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is on, is usually in the top right corner. But when connected through my bar, the indication for ATMOS no longer appears. I see you have the same issue when connected to your reciever, is there an explanation? So my question is, how do I/you know if ATMOS is really working without that indication below Dolby Vision?... I guess you can tell if it sounds better, I guess i just need a little reassurance that I'm not wasting $1500 on a sound bar... Which is great by the way, Sony HT ST5000 is recommended.
Mike, if you are watching a Netflix program that supports both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos then you will see that in the description of the program. My issue is that when I run the sound out through HDMI then I do not see Dolby Atmos (Okja has both) in the description which means to me that it will not play Atmos sound. My receiver does not show that Dolby Atmos is playing either, it just shows surround sound. Now change the sound output to internal speaker only and look at the description in Netflix and you will now see both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Start to play the program and then change the sound output back to HDMI. If your receiver supports Atmos you should see that Dolby Atmos is playing on your receiver. My receiver does show Dolby Atmos when I select the info button. I currently have a call open to LG for this issue. This issue is true if you watch the Dolby app within the TV as well. If you have ceiling speakers then you will hear a difference in the sound when Atmos is active.

It depends on couple of factors , Number one , do i have a spare large square feet Room , and Two it has to be a Dolby Vision Projector with HDR 10 Support , in that case yes , but keep in mind , Dolby Vision Projectors and Speakers and Equipment is Expensive as hell , but in short yes , Nothing can't beat 100 inch or in some cases 300 inch Projectors a Full Movie Experience .

The c7 can't play dolby vision it's only a 10bit panel & peck brightness of like 800 nits.. not that I'm knocking the c7 but it's can't play real dolby.
simon martin true but no TV is 12 bit yet so only 10 bit is available ATM till 12bit panels made and then you will be able to see DV full potential as well it's mastered at 10,000 nits!

Tried atmos via arc on Netflix? Okja supports it. Give it a try. Let me know what your receiver shows (press info button on remote)

Just go to LG Store & search for Dolby Access , and it should show up .

I returned this receiver and got a Denon AVR-4400H. About 2x the price, but they were on sale at boxing day and added more speakers.
