Love your videos and presentation style. Fun with facts. Just bought the MK1 ZVE10 as the price was too good to pass up and 10bit would be nice, but for UA-cam video it; 's a little overkill and not worth spending the extra £300 to get the MK2. I love the HLG3 , it is very forgiving. I took a video at the beach in bright sunlight and was unable to see the screen properly. Just a question: I use the kit-lense so far...what would be the advantage buying the Sigma 16mm 1.4? AND would the Auto Focus be the same at the kit lense and the Sigma? I'm so into your videos, huge fan, you will grow fast soon:)
The Sigma will be better in lowlight and give you a blurrier background. but the kit lens has a great zoom range of the 16-50 and can be really useful and you can get great footage out of it. You can always look into other lenses later as you figure out your favourite focal lengths.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks a lot for your quick answer:) As you said, I will test it out and maybe compare this two in the near future. I'm gonna have a fix set up and my kit lense is always on 16 mm. Therefore I'm considering buying a fix focus and have better picture quality and so on. Keep going with your amazing channel, love the vids about the Sony zv-e 10 the most:))
@@djicerolls_gigs I promise if you get the sigma it will change your outlook on this camera. I just purchased a 50mm and a few other lenses and they just blow the kit lens away.
If you're always losing your zoom lens on 16mm, then the 16mm f/1.4 will be a huge upgrade. The 16mm f/1.4 lets in 2.7 more stops of light than, or about 6 times as much light as, the 16-50mm does at 16mm f/3.5. That means your images will be much, much cleaner in lower light. Also, even in good lighting, the prime lens will be a lot sharper and your subject will pop from the background much better than with the zoom lens. 2.7 stops is a HUGE difference; it's about the same quality difference between something like an RX100 to an A7 III. The Sigma autofocuses just as well as any Sony lens in my experience.
Take a look at the Samyang 12mm F2 AF .. it's a pretty cool alternative to the Sigma 16 -- but eventually the Sigma should be on your list too. I use my 16mm on the kit lens a lot, but really is limited by it's f3.5 ... auto-focus on Sigma is great, Samyang and Tamron are strong too. No problems with AF at all. Kit lens is a great starter, and very useful. Don't believe all the You-Tube experts that poo-poo it. Cheers.
Absolutely great video (I just bought the ZV-E10 after watching your review about the camera and I'm super happy with it). A beginner question: this "zoom" achieved with the SteadyShot and the Clear Image Zoom just crops the image but doesn't change the lens distortion/effect, right? So if you want the actual longer focal image (example: 50 mm for portrait) you need the optical lens.
Thanks for specializing in these videos! I just got a ZV-E10, and I've learned more than an hour of your videos than anywhere else. I've got a simple and quick video request for you if you're interested: I've had the hardest time figuring out how to adjust the aperture in manual mode. Damn amazing! Dont know if you make already but would love to see a video explaining the difference between the sigma 16mm and the 30mm and if it would be worth only buying the body and then like a sigma 16mm or the body and pay 100 euros more and buy with the sony kit lens which is the 18-50mm? Anyways thanks so much for the amazing video! And dont forget to drink that Apple juice! Have a good one! 😃
The kit lens is nice to have - because sometimes, you just need it. But once you get some lenses, the kit lens will likely be used as a backup only. Since it’s only $100 - it’s nice to have it as a backup. The 16mm is a much wider lens that can be useful for vlogging and filming yourself in general. The 30 is a great focal length for walking around taking pictures or video where you have enough room to keep the camera away from the talent. There is a third lens which is the Sigma 56mm which is great for portraits as well 👍
Great video! The Active Steady Shot and Clear Image Zoom tips are awesome for my own use (talking head stuff, zoom, etc). Quick question: what's the distance between you and the ZV-E10 when you recorded this? How far was the camera?
You should add "firmware update" of the sony cam to v2 and the lens to now v4 of your sigma F1.4 lens :) This is my personal hack for you - thanks for doing this great of a job explaining all that - cheers :)
Mark, this is MADNESS! That be a good thing, btw. How you concisely categorize the hack and keep it simple for knuckleheads like me is awesome! Heya, I have the same lens and camera and will do talking head AND outdoor exercise filming. As I want to capture full length body but, I'd like to eliminate the background distraction (jungle gym stuff, benches, trees, etc.). But, I don't want to film against a wall as the colors are cool. How can I get the most bokeh so people focus on the exercise host (standing distance, different lens, camera settings, etc.). Thanks
Which is your lens, the kit or the Sigma 16? If you want more blur, use the backround blur button on the ZV-E10, or set your camera to Aperture Priority and keep you fstop as low as possible (1.4 on the Sigma). also, stand as far away from the background as you can. The more room behind you, the more out of focus blur.👍
@@tadbubs The only issue is that if you are outside, with you aperture down all the way you may need an ND filter (sunglasses for your lens) so that your image isn’t too bright. But test it out first and see.

Hi, Good Morning Sir, I’m Navaneeth from India. Great fan of your work! ❤️ I have a question sir. I am planning to get ZVE10 and planning to buy one lens. I’m confused between Sigma 16mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.4. I saw the clear image zoom video. I have a question on that. If I zoom the 16mm f1.4 lens with clear zoom @1.5x, i’ll be getting around 24mm. And further zooming with steady shot gives around 50mm right ?But my question is with the bokeh. Will I be getting same amount of bokeh as of the 50mm lens at 1.4 in same settings?
Wonderful informtaion. Does the active stabilization crop really not lose resolution (like when zooming in)? I have a Canon R6 which has a crop mode (works with the sensor area instead of zooming) and the resolution really equals filming at the equivalent focal length - while zooming causes severe resolution loss in comparison. Is it the same with the zv-e10?
Hi Mark, your series is great and I've watched most of it so far. Do you have more info on how to shoot slow motion on the e10? Would appreciate a show case on your approach. Thanks keep up the great work!!
Thanks for the awesome videos, very informative and entertaining! I'm buying the zv-e10 because of you thank you. I want to purchase a 16mm lens but I cannot afford the Sigma that you use. Can you recommend a decent 16mm lens that is a little more cost effective? I would greatly appreciate it.
The sigma 16mm 1.4 is at BandH for $374. You will not really find a cheaper 16 than that bhpho.to/3KjCIQS But if that is not in your price range, order the kit lens with the ZV-E10 because it zooms out to 16mm and is decent quality. Check out the video I did about the kit lens. ua-cam.com/video/ISDqpdLx2Kk/v-deo.html
Hi Mark, you are great! One question, for the basic kit lens of the zve-10 for a more stable shooting is it better to use steady shot or can you also use the standard function since the basic kit lens allows it? Are they stabilized the same way? Thanks in advance, greetings from Italy!!
I would use the active steady shot. It should work together with the lens. if you do standard, you will only use the lenses stabilization and it won’t be much
My old 5100s run cooler with Airplane Mode off. I don't use the wireless features except when I use the remote app, Camoodoo. Good hacks to know. I’d like to see Budget Gimbal and ND Filter Recommendations for the ZV e10 with sigma 16mm…
For gimbals, I like the Weebil S bhpho.to/3ubhoFS or the Ronin SC bhpho.to/3ESX4Ou
for filters I like: Variable ND: amzn.to/3Dydv1Z
Your the best, cheers!
🍻🍻 Thanks!!
I can't believe I can't find a video for the best backpack for this camera haha
Any backpack. It’s the smallest camera ever. I like the think and mirrorless movers. Little messenger bag
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I could have been more specific haha! Need a smallest one I can find that can carry a 16 inch. Macbook
I’ll try to do some bag stuff soon.
thank you very much mark . yoa are great
Thanks. I think so too 🤣🤣
Hi, Good Morning Sir, I’m Navaneeth from India. Will I be getting same amount of bokeh as of the 50mm lens at 1.4 in same settings?
i just purchase a zve-10 because of your video..
Thank you for your amazing job!
My pleasure!
For slow motion, I use the HD mode 120fps (100fps in PAL). I don’t use s&q because it has a lower bit rate so the image won’t be quite as good.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks man, you're really doing good work here and am getting immense value.
You are fantastic!
Made my life easier
Thanks for the awesome videos, very informative and entertaining! I'm buying the zv-e10 because of you thank you. I want to purchase a 16mm lens but I cannot afford the Sigma that you use. Can you recommend a decent 16mm lens that is a little more cost effective? I would greatly appreciate it.
The sigma 16mm 1.4 is at BandH for $374. You will not really find a cheaper 16 than that bhpho.to/3KjCIQS
But if that is not in your price range, order the kit lens with the ZV-E10 because it zooms out to 16mm and is decent quality. Check out the video I did about the kit lens. ua-cam.com/video/ISDqpdLx2Kk/v-deo.html
Great video, wish I saw it a week ago! Qq, what audio are you using on this video?
The Rode NTG video mic boomed overhead 👍
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ntg 1,2,3, 4? Into rodecaster?
@@b2bfusion It’s called the Rode NTG VideoMic. It’s a separate line from the ones you mentioned.

Awesome, thanks for this!
You’re welcome!! 👍
It should work together with the lens. if you do standard, you will only use the lenses stabilization and it won’t be much
Perfect!
Thanks Mark! What about Noise Reduction and Display quality settings?
Awsome expl!!! thanks!!
You bet!
My old 5100s run cooler with Airplane Mode off. I don't use the wireless features except when I use the remote app, Camoodoo. Good hacks to know. I am getting a little more
interested in the ZV-E10, but still think it is a bit of a lateral move. I really would like a camera with 10-bit 4:2:2 internal in an APS-C format ... I might get one ZV -- while I wait. You are pretty persuasive in your reviews of the little guy. Cheers.
Haha. Thanks JR!! 10bit would be amazing. Interesting about that airplane mode - I wonder if it’s the same for the ZV
Great info. Thanks!
No problem!
