I would always just turn them off. Also, you didn’t necessarily say this, but it occurred to me I can set 2 temps when I’m running and gunning as far as shooting someone with stage lights vs when they come down and walk through floor so it’s not as dark.

      To be honest with you, I don't use any Picture Profile. I use white balance and lighting to get the colors I am looking for. I will then do a little boost or correction in post to lock in the look I want.
      I also don't do anything with sharpness either. In fact I will sometimes add film grain to the picture to give it a more textured look.

    So what do you do when you want to zoom in? Say for like a close up angle. How to you match the lighting from the wide shot. Cuz when I zoom in it gets darker. Sorry I’m clearly a beginner. Thanks

    • @PurposedLensPhotoMedia
      @PurposedLensPhotoMedia  5 місяців тому

      This is a very valid question and it's also a great one.
      The way to match your lighting when you zoom in and out (with a variable aperture lens) is to adjust your exposure by using ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture.
      Exposure (in a nutshell) is the amount of light that your camera see's. Just like your eyes... in a dark room, you can't see much (low exposure) in a bright room you can see much more (correct exposure.) If it's TOO bright out, you have to squint (overexposure).
      Since this can get complicated VERY quickly, I made a video (below this comment) a while back on this exact thing. ( I may redo the video and make it shorter and more concise.)
      I hope this helps!

    Interesting. I've always used the scopes to make sure I wasn't clipping or underexposed on highlights and shadows, then added in saturation (like with GoPro Flat color profiles, but I"ve never played with the curves or color boost before. Do you think I should do a node to adjust for clipping, underexposure with the highlights and shadows, then do a node to adjust the curves to taste, then another for color to taste, then maybe another for creative look or extra touch such as the vinyette?

    • @PurposedLensPhotoMedia
      @PurposedLensPhotoMedia  6 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, there's really nothing wrong with doing it the way you have been doing it, especially using your waveform to monitor exposure.. that's a must!
      As long as you get the desired look you are after, node placement doesn't matter that much. Especially when working with the ZV-E10 with no picture profiles in REC 709 (how I always work).
      If you are shooting in log and trying to match another camera and retain as much picture information as you can, then WHERE you place your nodes matters A LOT!
      Keep in mind we aren't doing any color space transforms or pulling info from a 4:4:4 Chroma sub sample, we are working with a compressed, baked in REC709 picture so we are already limited in how far we can push it without destroying it.
      The KEY is to get it AS CLOSE (in camera) to the look we want using white balance, lighting and exposure settings.
      I hope this helps!
      Thanks for watching! 👍🏾

      @@PurposedLensPhotoMedia It does! Thank you for your detailed response as always.

    • @PurposedLensPhotoMedia
      @PurposedLensPhotoMedia  6 місяців тому +1

      @@timbrowntown No problem. I will also add that node placement DOES matter when using certain types of nodes.
      Example : If you were going to use the qualifier tool to select and edit ONLY your skin, you would want to add a layer node VS a serial node.
      This way your skin won't be affected by any other changes you make to your picture after that node.
      There are different kinds of nodes as well like mixer nodes, serial nodes ,outside nodes, key mixer nodes and more!
      Some of these nodes REQUIRE you to wire them in a certain order for them to work!
      I hope this helps! 👍🏾

    • @timbrowntown
      @timbrowntown 6 місяців тому

      @@PurposedLensPhotoMedia interesting. I didn't even think about that aspect. Previosly, when I use a color correcting LUT, I generally use 3 nodes. First is the exposure, adjusting gain, lift, saturation, sometimes sharpness. Then the node to add the color correcting LUT, and then a node for some creative changes or an additional creative LUT. I apply the LUT on the second node before adjusting the first one for the baseline corrections. No idea if this is even close to correct. It's sort of a combo of things I've read and heard.

      @PurposedLensPhotoMedia  6 місяців тому

      I honestly think this is the case with ANY piece of gear when it comes to cameras. I think this is largely because we find that after buying gear, it's not always best for ALL situations. In the case of the kit lens, if someone is looking for razor sharp images with little noise, this isn't the lens for them.
      The kit lens is BEST for QUICK and reliable footage or photos. If someone wants to have a decent image where they can take the camera with them, the kit lens is an EXCELLENT lens for that.
      If someone is trying to get a bunch of bokeh and shoot weddings or events where lighting is constantly changing, this may not be the lens for them.
      I wish you nothing but the best with your photos/video! Keep up the great work!
      Thanks for watching!👍🏾
