No kidding dude, those two songs are right there in my top favs. Especially Slaughtered. That song hits so fuckin’ hard. That was the first song I ever heard with that machine gun groove, and the riff just kicks you in the teeth.
Cemetery Gates, that call-and-response at the end with Phil's screams and Dimebag's squealing guitar riff gives me chills to this day.

My favorite dime solo is the one off of cowboys do more dope on the rebel meets rebel album. The whole album kicks ass but that solo is fucking sick.

Domination. It's got everything: speed, groove, killer Dime solos, Phil's developing hardcore vocals, and the classic rhythm section of just Vinney and Rex playing under a solo with no other guitar tracks. And the outro jam is just phenomenal.

Greatest Breakdown of all time.
Hollow is like the underrated version of cemetery gates. It has everything great about pantera in it: Emotional ballad with deep vocals, great riffs with a heavy breakdown.

Shedding Skin is sick. The opening riff is brutal. GSTK is amazing too - the blues breakdown ending the song is fuckin everything.

They were at their most brutal in ‘96.
It makes them disappear is on A New Level (pun intended). But fr, the intro that sounds goofy but grows on you followed by some of the baddest riffs ever made and then ofc a dimebag solo that gives you the chills. Literally perfection

My current top five would be: Cemetery Gates, Floods, Suicide Note Part 2, Slaughtered, and Hard Ride. Nearly every other Pantera song is an honorable mention

For me it has to be cemetery gates, i think it's the greatest song ever made period. However i would put Im Broken as 2nd, The Great Southern Trendkill 3rd, and Piss at 4th
Huge W on Slaughtered. FBD is the so god damn heavy, groovy and catchy. It’s when they truly because a “groove” band to me. Strength Beyond Strength mad underrated within their discography.
Solid choices, my friend. Ah yes Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks is so underrated. That song was on repeat a lot whenever I’d throw on FBD. Living Through Me off TGSTK is another highly underrated and overlooked song, imho.

For me, Use My Third Arm is a song that you could put out today,and it would sound so fresh and original that it would make you rethink the mechanics,groove,and crush of today's metal.

I was surprised more people didn't say Domination and Floods. To many of my musician friends these are the top two songs. To me, CFH and 5 minutes. There's so much energy in these two songs, but pretty much all of them are good. Even Glamtera is good. There's a few songs that I don't like from their glam period, but most of them are pretty good as well.

First time I hear a Pantera song when they released Far Beyond Driven. When I saw "I'm Broken" on TV as a young metalhead I was like "WTF is that? This is magnificient". Still my favorite Pantera song.
Revolution Is My Name easily. It has it all. Dimes intro, its heavy, groovy, catchy without being too catchy, singing, screaming, positive lyrics, has a great breakdown, great leads. Its perfect. I'll Cast A Shadow is fighting it's way up to the top though too. That one is like a modern BECOMING with a Domination type outro added to to the end. Fantastic song off their best album.
Honestly I'm so sick of hearing about CFH, Walk & Cemetery Gates. All great songs and people can like whatever they like but CEMETERY GATES is a poor representation of the band they became as Philip never even sang like that again. Its Pantera before they TRULY found their sound. The whole CFH album is a classic but its Pantera before Philip found his voice and before Dimebag started with the digitech pedal.

Floods was their greatest piece but my favorite song always changes as years go by.
Idk about favorite but the riffs about halfway through Goddamn Electric are so groovy and bluesy its perfect. The fast riff in this love is also so good. Impossible to pick a best song.

As a HUGE lifelong Pantera fan, and a newer Spiritbox fan, I like that Courtney likes 5 Minutes Alone. Far Beyond Driven is my favorite album. Not quite as hook-laden as Vulgar, not quite as heavy as Trendkill, the perfect sweet spot.

For me it's The Underground In America/Reprise package at the end of TGST. Phil sounds mean as hell, the riffage is rifftastic, Dimes guitar sounds like it had been laying in a rusty shed for a few years, Vinny Paul is smashing the hell out of his kit and Rex is just keeping the whole thing anchored. I love the four classic Pantera albums almost equally, but in my view TGST just pips the other three, if only for the bravery of the thing.

for my money, reinventing the steel is the top of the stack and we'll grind that axe is the song that tells me everything i need to know about pantera. it's so damn good. that one, followed closely by yesterday don't mean shit and it makes them disappear. that album is perfect.
It’s kinda sad how the first half of their discography is ignored… The solo on We’ll meet again is by far the greatest Dimebag solo, and the entire vibe of PowerMetal just hits that sweet spot between thrash and glam years before Judas Priest released Painkiller.

I'm Broken. Pantera was on top of the world at that time and MTV debut this video and of course we all watched it with the volume at eleventeen and it delivered! That was a brief moment in time when the world was ours and everyone had to accept that Pantera ruled it!!! Without a doubt. I remember the Beavis and Butthead episode where they watched and couldn't get the TV loud enough!! Good Times.
It's Slaughtered for me. The riff is groovy but has a good chunk to it. Phil is on point. Dime and Vince are linked, and the bass is great. It's just a great song. It's hard to pick just one though.

When I'm walking I'll just play "New Level" and it just instantly effects how I walk, EVERY TIME. More than "Walk" does to me.

Heresy is such an epic song and one of my personal favorites! People praise Pantera for their heavy groove but people forget that they could also thrash hard as hell too. Pantera and esp Phils vocals on songs like Heresey almost remind me of Rob Halford or new wave of British heavy metal mixed with Bay area thrash. Phils vocal range was incredibe back then during cowboys from hell era. Now he sounds like a death metal singer from all the cigarettes and beer lol.🤘🏾
The great southern trendkill and Suicide note part 2 are my favorites.
And I guess it makes me a weirdo but boy do I hate Walk. The tamest, simplest, cheezyest, most pop song they did. A basic radio friendly song that could have been in the Metallica catalogue and I wouldn't've been surprised. No grit, No emotions, not what I was looking for when I was listening to Pantera.
Mouth for War…not many riffs feel like a concrete wall coming at you
5 minutes alone, This Love, I'm Broken, The Sleep, CFH still has to be cranked to 11! Like so many have said, there is just so many great songs to choose from. Lizzy must be talking about going to The Clubhouse in Dallas. Vinny's club right off of 35E. I met them when Metal Magic came out in the 80's. I put the bar tops in Joe's Garage on the west side of Fort Worth, where they used to play. Good times.
