I again advise you make blocks subdivide twice (1 -> 8 -> 64) rather than once (1 -> 64). The savings on system memory will be worth it. For example, tunneling straight through a large block would leave a cost of 60 blocks with single subdivisions, but double subdivisions would leave 6 medium blocks and 12 small blocks for a cost of 18 blocks - 42 fewer than single subdivisions.

He's gonna need it, with how much the object limit is making impossible. After all, this doesn't feel like a part of the run's premise, but a consequence of its implementation. The challenge is meant to be minecraft, not system limits.

Objects are only tangible when Mario is near them. If he's not, things can go through them. That's why the bullies would only fall through in sometimes. And if he goes too fast, the game doesn't detect he's near it in time and he clips in.
this would be so much easier if this where ds edition, since you'd just look on the lower screen to see where the platforms are

this challenge would be so much less infuriating on the DS version due to the map. Although come to think of it's probably down right impossible since you start with Yoshi who can't punch until he gets a hat

What's worse in this run: Red Coin Stars, or 100-coin stars?
100 coin stars, beacuse you need to find 100 FRICKING NORMAL COINS TO GET IT (or 50 red coins, not possible or 20 blue coins)

Honestly, I think you're in the clear!
Looking at what stars are left:
Tall Tall Mountain: you can easily nab Scale the Mountain, Blast to the Lonely Mushroom, Breath Taking View from the Bridge, and Mysterious Mountain Side, Scary Shrooms Red Coins is do-able, but the Monkey's Cage may give you some trouble.
Current count: 40.
Snowman's Land:
Snowman's Big Head, In the Deep Freeze, Whirl from the Freezing Pond and Chill with the Bully should be easy enough. The Red Coin Star is last resort, and Into the Igloo is impossible without the Vanish Cap.
Current count: 44
Wet Dry World: You can jump into the painting at different heights to change the water level, so most of these SHOULD be accessible, except for the two stars Down Town?
Shocking Arrow Lifts is cake, Top o' the Town is a gimme, but Secrets in Shallows and Sky may be trouble due to how many blocks you gotta smash, and Express Elevator Hurry Up! would probably be impossible, at least without some expert platforming. If you can get into downtown, you could snag the Red Coin Star.
Current count: 47 definite, 50 Maybe
Tiny Huge Island: You've encountered glitches with this place before, so I expect trouble here too.
Tip Top of the Huge Island should be easy.
Pluck the Pirannah Flower, doable, I think.
Rematch Koopa the Quick: Clear a path first, and maybe?
5 Tiny Secrets, like WDW, maybe, if the game doesn't crash from overload.
Wiggler's Red Coins, just get IN there and it should hopefully be easy.
Make Wiggler Squirm will be tough, like most of these bosses so far.
Current count: 50 confirmed, 53 maybe.
Grab the Toad Star for 51/54.
That's enough to enter the top floor! But from here, we have a problem. We need 20 more, unless the minecraft blocks bypass the Infinite Staircase.
Snag a star from Toad for number 52/55
Rainbow Ride: On paper, I think all of these are theoretically obtainable, since most of the stars are out in the open. The only one I see posing a threat is the Red Coin Star.

Tick Tock Clock: ......this one sounds like a nightmare. Again, because so many are just laying in the open, all of them should be within reach, even the Red Coins. Just make sure the clock is stopped every time.
Current count: 64/67.
Wing Mario over the Rainbow..... Not sure if that one's doable.
By my count, that puts us just a few shy of the goal! I believe you'll go all the way and make this happen, Swanky!
I dont expect tall tall mountain to go very well due to the game overloading with 3000 goombas within it in one of his previous runs thus hardlocking the game
I forgot about that. I re-watched his Goomba video after posting this comment. But he also had to make adjustments for LLL in that video, so maybe he can find some workarounds for this too if he has trouble?
@@BladeCrossEXE the main issue I also found is that even if things go smoothly he will still need to get at least 5 red coin stars to beat the game wet dry world is at least a partial bust though no vanish cap and the tunnel has water the igloo might be inaccessible or straight up kill him on load and no vanish cap and same with the cave in tiny huge island
my brother worked at micro center back in 2020 and they told him to take time off bc of the pandemic, and then proceeded to fire him for "taking too much time off." so micro center kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

I’m not sure if it’s possible but maybe you could somehow modify the engine that super Mario 64 runs in so you could increase its memory allowing a much higher object count before the game freezes? It would be interesting to see a video messing around with the super Mario 64 engine and mod’s to see if it’s possible to increase the object load limits beyond what it’s normally able to handle. I’m not very familiar with game coding or how game engine’s work but I would assume that the game crashes because the objects that load in takes up all the allocated memory and without any memory too load new objects and items the game engine simply doesn’t know what to do and crashes! If it somehow was possible to give the engine more memory for loading objects then it would probably not crash in most of these situations and more stars would be obtainable.
I saw a vid recently where a guy cleaned up the code and got the game to run at least twice as fast while also running better graphics... So probably possible.
This would be impossible for me to beat since it would make me rage quit easily. Also, if you’re planning on making the third song for the vs Zardy mod, I’ll happily make it for you.

the reason why objects like goombas and coins etc.. fall through the blocks is that to save on memory for the level geometry when Mario is a short distance away it makes the geometry non-tangible.

That sounds like it would be really fun, but it would be a living hell trying to beat the game.
I feel like it would be literally almost impossibile because if a bully pushes you you're literally dead so you'd have to jump on the first frame possibile just to survive (if i'm not mistaken they cannot hit you if you're jumping but if they can it's literally impossible).

I was doing some math and swankybox will need to do at least 7 red/100 coin stars to get to bowser 3 as wet dry world at most will give us 4 of 5 stars due to water the lack of vanish cap in the igloo in snowmans land

I've been waiting for this! Your going to need some dumb controllers now. Imagine a nightmare with constant jumping, Minecraft mode, and a dumb controller. Now that would be a nightmare.
A controller with the left-hand and right-hand buttons spread like 6 feet apart, or just slightly longer than his arm span so it's an uncomfortable stretch

See microcenter makes me feel sad to live in the UK... You know what we get? Currys. They sell the odd PC component (the highest in stock graphics cards are normally 1660s Etc), laptops, washing machines, hoovers... We have Overclockers.... No where near us, but just don't understand why in the UK that we don't have decent shopping areas.
