We have a new lowest coin count courtesy of a new tactic by CS2Magus! 189 coins! Machine Made Yardivich has an ability that blows himself up into four smaller enemies, and these enemies can be defeated via Yoshi Cookies which grants us 0 coins from the fight. This frees up 1 use of the Lucky Jewel, which we can then use on our second encounter with Belome saving us 20 coins.
@@tylern6420 So actually to get the Lucky Hammer would cost more coins than we save. With our current run, we end up with 189 coins. However, we spent 100 for the Lucky Jewel and 50 for Belome's Temple. That leaves us with 39 coins "spendable" by the end of the run. We would have to obtain (illegally) 84 coins to afford the hammer. It's also available later in the game than the Jewel is, so if we skipped the Jewel entirely we're still getting more coins from the bosses before the Hammer than the Hammer would save us. In the end, all routes using the Hammer ended up with obtaining more coins in the run than if we didn't.
THE SAFETY RING DOES SO MUCH MORE. The Amulet, the safety ring, and the b-tub ring all also set the equipped character to have elemental resistance. Thats half damage taken from elemental magic. Safety ring is a top tier item the entire game. It also makes the character immune to all status effects.
No, the frog guy sells 5 things: An accessory that doubles coins earned after battle, an accessory that doubles exp on the equipped character, an accessory that cuts FP usage in half on the equipped character, an item that restarts the fight (infinite use) and an item that guarantees you can run from the fight (infinite use, doesn't work on bosses). The 'Hammer' in Seaside Town after you beat Yaridovich can initiate the lucky egg game without the lucky jewel, and never runs out of uses. Unfortunately with the rule for this challenge that you can't sell items for money, it is not as efficient to get this hammer as it is to just be selective with the lucky jewel. But with the Lucky Jewel and the 'Lucky' Hammer, you can prevent all exp gains after Bowyer (since Punchinello doesn't give exp) and beat the game with Mario as low as level 3.
16:19 You do not need to pay coins to get into the secret cave. Just keep trying to jump into it from below, and eventually a puff of smoke will pop out and you'll be sent in. I do it all the time.
