Awww....I hadn't watched for a couple of weeks now and suddenly realised it's over for this year...oh well. I will miss you. Hopefully I'll be able to watch next year. Will surely watch and enjoy your recordings. Thank you for all the amazing moments!
This channel has been one of the heroes of 2020 for me. Massive thank you for everyone helping to make this content possible. Keep those beautiful cephalopods coming!
I'm so so so happy that I watched the live stream and saw some of these encounters as they happened! Exploring the depths with the experts is an exciting privilege that I'll never tire of.
That was wonderful, thank you all for the hard work, dedication and for bringing us with you on this incredible journey.❤ Stay safe, healthy and bring the bubbles again next year! 😁🤗
It is amazing to be able to see this kind of stuff at the comfort of wherever I am. Professionally, this is a world's difference from mine, but I LOVE listening to things that people are passionate about! Thank you for this channel!
I remember watching live last year when you came across the whale fall, so interesting to see how quickly it's disappearing. I can't imagine there'll be anything left next year, but I'll be watching to find out :)
Mann! I didn’t know I needed this.❤️ this makes me so proud of Mother Earth. It truly is a Marvelous beauty. There’s so much we humans don’t know about the deep Oceans. The fact that the conditions are Highly unusual down there, It’s just like looking at life in another planet. So it brings me great pleasure to be watching these kind of videos. Much love to the Nautilus crew, you guys are Amazing! We appreciate you for putting out content like thiis. 💙🙏🏼💯
Mr ballard youre an amazing individual. If you could pull off an amazing feat in 86, Im confident you can find an epic sea monster we probably dont know about. Good job on all that you do. My hats off to you
@@rockevan Wow, that's so cool. There's so much inspiration in these vids, I can relate to what you're saying 😊 The colours, forms and the undersea tones really transport your mind to another place, a really cool state of mind for a cool set of drawings. Keep well and happy adventures fellow concept artist! ✌️
I feel that I would never go diving or swimming in a pool or a body of water after 40 feet but that doesn't mean I don't find the marine archaeology interesting if only I wasn't so scared
@@keenul4998 The depth of water is irrelevant as far as swimming goes. The human body is mostly water with air-filled lungs, so even holding perfectly still in fresh water, its natural position is to bob with the head just above the waterline. You could have the Mariana Trench below you, you wouldn't sink into it (sans concrete shoes). More concerning are, in order of priority: 1) oceanic turbulence, it's a lot harder to stay above water when being thrown around by waves, 2) hypothermia thanks to extremely cold water, and 3) the things IN the water with you. Regardless of how you feel about sharks, there's still jellyfish, cone snails, blue-ringed octopus, sea snakes, horny dolphins, Cthulhu, Godzilla...
You notice how big each of these marine creatures pupils are, they're all blinded by the nautilus as it's beams are way brighter than what a lot of these creatures will ever see.
the 2 things that always astonish me the most is the amount of sea snow drifing everywhere & the fact that all this is normally in near absolut darkness! would love to "see" all this with ultra sensitive cameras & no flood lights!... i mean most of the creatures downs there do have eyes to see something, dont they?!
would be awesome if you guys took the ROV to the DDT dumps off Palos Verdes and Catalina; see what's left and the impact on sea life in the surrounding area
There are many unknown areas, unknown creatures, and unknown dangers in the sea. Although people are actively exploring the deep sea, there are still many places that cannot be reached. I hope we can live in harmony with marine life when exploring, without destroying their life and environment
Thank you for sharing these videos (the videos involved in your research); it would be nice if the depth of the places explored in the video were reported in the video (it always makes me curious to understand at what depth this fauna and flora are, and 400, 600, or 800 meters makes a lot of difference ^^).
In the ocean, does light affect the creatures? Up high in the water level I would assume more creatures have light sensors, but eventually the light disappears the deeper one goes. I'm wondering if the light is a distraction to them or not.
13:13 looks like a cookie-cutter shark bite, but I'm not sure the exact size of the fish bitten or even its species, where they dive in comparison to each other either either. So really I have absolutely no idea, but it's a possibility.
I’m surprised how few and far between plants are creatures are from each other. When I think of undersea I think of lots of seaweed, other plants like fields and forest. That’s how little I know. Spent much time of my dads boat when young, summers at the beach so I guess around the wharf, marshy shore, closer to shore it’s was more dense , then again that was 45 years ago.
Question; I cant help but notice how much less diverse and empty looking the seas appear when compared to Cousteau's various films. It seems like everything is dead or decaying on the seafloor and everything was alive and blooming, countless schools of fish swimming all around. Anyone else notice this?
can someone please tell me what their rating system they use means? I really want to know what they're saying when they say "Oh wow its a 4.5, maybe even a 5"

The amount of time, energy, knowledge, and resources that go into giving this to us on UA-cam is appreciated.

I’m done leaving thoughtful witty comments I’ll just get to the point
I LOVE YOU.
Being a scuba diver, I could watch your videos for hours. So fascinating, this world that is out of reach yet attracts us so strongly (me at least)

amazing video!! been so excited for expedition highlights video to come out!!
The mystery of the missing crab claw has me hooked more than Netflix
That pink fish bumping into the red spongy thing at 7:35 is so cute
So, apparently bumping into things is a thing down there, in 11:08 one of the fish on the left bumps into a rock.
You guys are the best. I love listening to you live. Congrats on these highlights. They are also one of my highlights of each year. TO SCIENCE!
I'm watching this while having a stressful bout of low blood pressure and honestly? This helps calm me down a bit. Thank you.

Wow, I'm watching content from EV that's NOT 5 years past haha! I'm new to the crew but they are amazing!
The audios a bit on the quiet side
It's the side effect of editing out the sounds of the farts and resulting outrage by the others.

Not on my end. I'm listening to looped Ideo - An Ancient Christmas Carol while watching this :)
thank you for providing us the videos of ocean life. More videos to watch and learn more about marine life. God bless.

I'm assuming those green lasers are to help measure size and distance of the things we see?
I like these videos! And I would like to follow in a submarine to see that live! One thing: it would be nice with information about the depth!
can we please get a highlight of 2022s whale fall visit 🙏
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
What type of coral is that at 8:53? I can't hear it will enough to tell if they said it's anything other than an octocoral
thanks
Kinda surprised the fossil discovery wasn't on there, the odds on coming across that were probably far bigger than winning the lottery. :P

HI!!!
Wow I want to be out there with y’all
I took oceanography in high school that was my favorite class
Love the video the but the voice audio is a bit quite even at max youtube volume.
Do sea sponges 'whistle' or vibrate at set frequencies as water flows through them/ if so has anyone studied this feature?

There are places in the ocean with whole forests of seaweed, but at the depths this ROV was going to, there isn't enough light for much to grow.
