To this day my dream job is to work on wildlife films for the BBC or Netflix, though I’ve no idea how to get there. Anyway - this made my day. 🥰

This video (and channel) is utterly a triumph. The section covering the subterranean ecosystem is one of the most incredible things I've seen on UA-cam. Hats off to you, Leo.
Thank you so so much!!! Credit also to the AMAZING scientists who discovered the ecosystem. The fact it was found essentially by chance just blows me away - to my memory, they were conducting a separate experiment investigating larval dispersal which wasn’t working so well. They then decided on a whim to flip the rocks, and THAT’S when they discovered it. A whole new ecosystem, from flipping a rock. It took me back to my childhood, flipping logs and finding a hidden world of detritivores and amphibians nestled away in their own domain of deadwood. It’s the power of curiosity in its purest form!
You’re bringing such professional and well written videos about the importance of both discovery and preserving these environments is one and the same! I rewatch these videos SO MUCH, I can’t get enough. Thank you for bringing these to the public eye for free

I suffer ptsd symptoms and it was very rough a few years back. Often, the calm narration in your videos was helpful to me. Now, i enjoy your work for the information. Thanks for these amazing videos!

Thank you so much as always Danika!!! 😁😁 Sorry for not getting to this sooner - I always look out for your comment, haha. I really appreciate your feedback. Dr. Tunnicliffe is absolutely amazing - her words, and those of Perer Girguis at the end, were my favourite quotes from all the uncut interviews I worked with to make the film. Just incredible insights!
From little homemade videos on Hermit Crabs to the Falkor 2. You've lived a real dream Leo/NWF, proud to have been watching your channel the last 5 years. Keep Going, Keep Growing, and Keep Learning
That makes me so warm - thank you for this! I’ve loved the natural world through a deep and unwavering fascination for as long as I can remember, and films have always felt like the most natural and rewarding way to package up that deep sense of awe, wonder, and fathomless beauty into a single work that might convey, through sights and sounds, the way that connection with nature always felt to me. I’m still astounded (and delighted to no end) that people like yourself watch and enjoy my little creations!

This channel has outstanding content and I've learned so much watching all the videos over the past few months, binging on them as they are so worthy of it. Your gentle voice accompanied me, keeping me distracted from the pain until my meds kicked in and then some, even lulling me to sleep at one point. So thank you, not only for putting out these amazing videos for free, but for your assistance today ❤ it is much appreciated on both fronts!
This means so much. I know I take a long time to get films out 🙈 but it is because I try to perfect every aspect. My next film on the Midnight Zone is finally nearing completion - I first started working on it about 8 months ago, I think! Thankfully I graduate soon and will be doing this full-time, so hopefully I’ll be able to get films out much faster. Thank you, truly, for bearing with me. ❤️ I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate it.
@NaturalWorldFacts congratulations on you graduating soon. Can't wait to see your next documentary. I know it would be beautiful, just like the rest of the work that you put out. Your work is highly appreciated I enjoy every aspect of it..
I'm going into a masters in marine biology in a couple of months time. im so excited to know that I am here, just in time for the incredible discoveries and leaps in technology. My jaw was on the floor with the high-resolution mapping of the sea floor. This is absolutely massive to the field. It is going to impact so much of our knowledge about our planet as it continues to be used.
Truly I can't describe how much I like these videos, everything from narration, visuals, music, pacing and information is just so well made and soothing it's crazy
This is so sweet! Thank you for this, and for sticking with me for so long. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without you!! I’m curious, do you know roughly what film it was that first led you to find me way-back-when?
It was my dream as a child to be a marine biologist. I never formally pursued it, but I am so glad to have your videos to learn from and enjoy these amazing scientific discoveries. ❤ thank you to all involved. You have made the love and excitement of deep ocean exploration accessible to all.
So happy for you, Leo.. Seeing how far you've come in the few years I have been watching this fine channel.. so much success ahead with your natural talent.. Thank you.. 🙏🙋🏻♀️
With David Attenborough not long for this world, Leo Richards should be his heir-apparent. David has been my favorite nature narrator for decades now, but Leo is amazing as well….
Leo!!!! I hate these videos because they END!!! My goodness Sir, what a great job you've done with this!!! I absolutely LOVE all of your videos!!! I did not like waiting so long for another!! But it was well worth the wait, 100% sure worth it!!! Please keep these wonderful videos coming!!! 💙 💙 💙
I use these to fall asleep most often, I have insomnia; thank you! I appreciate your documentaries on sea life, it’s concise and accurate! Marine life is beautiful and you show it so
I've had an intense hyperfixation with sea creatures and marine biology documentaries since I was a kid and rewatching Finding Nemo for the 12th time in a row and was practically raised by David Attenborough's Our Planet. I'm neurodivergent and an artist and editor and soooo particular about the documentaries I watch but this has hit the damn spot and I'm obsessed with this channel now. I get so giddy when I see someone loving marine biology as much as you clearly do. Please keep this up, it is my favourite thing right now. Blood belly comb jellyfish are so beautiful they unironically make me emotional lmao
At about 36 mins in it mentions how 80% of the worlds habitable zones are underwater. I couldn't help but extrapolate this out on a cosmic scale. We're looking for life on the surface of Mars, but the oceans of Europa might be where we actually first discover extraterrestrial life. It's certainly not a stretch to speculate that most of the life in the galaxy, if not the universe, exists on planets or moons that are endowed with subsurface oceans, where they are protected from cosmic rays and have their own oceanic "atmospheres". If life evolved first in our oceans, why would this not be the case on other worlds throughout the cosmos?
I've been catching all of the live streams for the Salas y Gomez Seamount Expedition so I was very pleased to see a new NWF doc about Schmidts voyages!
I think that is a line I will never forget. A thing that will occasionally pop up in my head and just leave me in complete wonder and awe. "80% of our planet's living space is the deep sea, and that means 80% of our planet's living space has never experiences sunlight." 35:55
I can’t begin to express how happy that makes me! It was wildlife documentaries like Blue Planet and South Pacific that first inspired me to love the natural world and pursue a life centred around understanding and appreciating it - I’ve wanted to be a nature documentarian since I could walk. If I can inspire even just one other person, I’ll be over the moon.
Your channel is probably one of the only ones I’ve ever felt like I “found” someone before they made it big. These videos are amazing and I truly think you’ll have a successful career in documentaries and marine biology. Best of luck and keep it coming!
It’s hard not to smile along with the scientists when they are witnessing such amazing things at the bottom of the ocean. I used to want to be a marine biologist as a kid and I’m glad that great work continues to be done in the sea.
This was better than many mass-produced documentaries. I absolutely love the pacing you use. One reason I always loved documentaries is because they are relaxing non-fiction stories that slowly progress. But it seems like most of the ones that are produced by networks now are fast-paced and overly dramatic, making them stressful rather than relaxing. Also, your video is stunningly beautiful.
I missed you and your videos. So happy you managed to live this beautiful experience doing what you love. This documentary is excellent and I hope more are on the way
Still find it amazing that your documentaries are often etter quality, more competently edited and choregraphed than what many professsional production companies release.
Started watching this channels blto wiench my curiosity about marine life, Found out that these videos and narration serves a latent function to relieve my stress and anxiety levels and helps me stay calm. Thanks for the great documentaries !!
You have most likely heard this by now, but you, my friend, give Attenborough a run for his money.... your pace, lovely brogue accent, your smooth, calm esthetic of oratory voice & especially the subjects script is all superbly phenomenal. My new favorite channel. ❤
Not since I was a kid, growing up watching Jacques-Yves Cousteau, have I been so Moved by an inedible science vessel, the Internet was created to share knowledge, to expand our known universe and it's intricate eco-systems and help leap ahead learning for the future generations. Thank you for putting this together.
You never cease to amaze me with the quality of your documentaries, it was great to know more about the people behind the amazing footage you show. So much work! Falkor (too) needs to visit the coast of Chile, the submarine geology and wildlife here is amazing!
I love watching these videos. I’m going to college for marine biology soon, and these videos make me go “holy shit, this could be my job”. Love them, keep it up.

@@NaturalWorldFacts ohh I mean I was playing the video in the background while trying to sleep 😭 but I think I prefer short documentaries over the ones that are 1 hour long
Dr. Wendy Schmidt is beautiful, doing a beautiful thing in bringing us closer to a beautiful world. Not that this means anything but I'd never heard of the Schmidt Ocean Institute and here they've been doing such great work. Thank you Dr. Wendy, you're a magnificent woman.
This was incredible! Well worth the wait. Thank you for sharing; it also helps me understand my theory that life does exist beyond this planet. I have a theory that there are ecosystems out there that can survive without the elements that we need to survive.
This has to be one of the most inspiring, exciting and beautifully produced documentary I’ve watched. While observing these new discoveries is absolutely mind blowing and fascinating I’m also loving watching the passion and enthusiasm of these many scientists and their unbridled excitement when they spot a rare or new sighting. Gratitude to the scientists for their dedication in exploring these unseen world and a massive thanks to the creator for allowing us to share this journey.
Fantastic documentary! Absolutely brilliant, as always. I would love a version without the other voices, though, for easy listening 😴 not that they’re not interesting and provide a valuable point of view, but they don’t have your relaxing cadence.
Ive not watched it yet, im gonna wait until my partner and i have some time to watch it together but im THRILLED a new video came out. Literally one of my favorite channels

Your documentaries are always beautiful. They never seem to be rushed. I've been waiting for you to post a new upload and I'm happy that you did❤❤
This means so much.
That means the world! Thank you!!
You've come so far man. Still can't believe I found your channel with only a few thousand followers. Almost a million! And well deserved!!!
This is so sweet! Thank you for this, and for sticking with me for so long. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without you!! I’m curious, do you know roughly what film it was that first led you to find me way-back-when?
Your narration is so soothing. I can't believe how incredible these videos are!
S-tier documentary! deserving of milions of views
It was my dream as a child to be a marine biologist. I never formally pursued it, but I am so glad to have your videos to learn from and enjoy these amazing scientific discoveries. ❤ thank you to all involved. You have made the love and excitement of deep ocean exploration accessible to all.
Soft buttery voice serenading me about the vast abyssal realm, yes ma’am.
It was absolutely brilliant! My wife kept quiet almost throughout the movie… fascinating
This is awesome! I wish youtube had a love button. It’s clear that you put a lot of time, effort, and love into this video.
This made me smile! 😁
JUST PUT DEEP SEA IN THE TITLE AND I COME RUNNINGGGGG
This channel is perfect in every way.
So happy for you, Leo.. Seeing how far you've come in the few years I have been watching this fine channel.. so much success ahead with your natural talent.. Thank you.. 🙏🙋🏻♀️
Really looking forward to this one! 💚
I love your Documentaries, they are always very Relaxing and Peaceful to watch. And my kids enjoy learning so much from your videos. ☕️😌👍💯
I've been such a big fan of your deep sea videos for some time, but, wow you knocked it out of the park with this one!
Shall I say one of the best documentaries I have seen in a while. Great work and top notch narration.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Whenever i feel stressed out, i watch your videos to help me feel better. I love the deep ocean, and i love your channel. 💙Leo
I'm at my absolute lowest point right now. This is calming me down a bit. Thank you.
Many times, seeing wonders of nature helps to balance the mind. Best wishes and prayers to you!
@@MicheleKaiser-io2dxthanks for the kind words
It will be okay, I promise.
I hope things have gotten better for you now ❤
I loved Falkor (too)!
Shows so much history, humanity and passion with two words on the right place!!
Marine life is beautiful and you show it so
Absolutely obsessed with the length and story of this one. More videos like this one would be awesome!
Finally!!!! I clicked on this video because it looked interesting, didn't even realized who uploaded it. So excited for this
This is so beautiful, I can't even stand it. Our world just takes my breath away.
And it's just incredible to think that I live in that 20% to experience sunlight. Wow
There are no words that can discribe the quality of each video Leo makes. The soundtrack, the high quality footage and the perfectly done narration.
I have watched this several times already over on Schmidt Ocean. Very nice movie. I will be watching this again this weekend here! Great Job!.
Wonderful film! With these documentaries you make sure that countless young aspiring researchers will be inspired to become marine scientists!
The passion and energy of the scientists and teams on these expeditions is astounding.
Humans at their greatest.
More science....less violence.
Our only hope.
Thank you.
Started watching this channels blto wiench my curiosity about marine life,
Found out that these videos and narration serves a latent function to relieve my stress and anxiety levels and helps me stay calm.
Thanks for the great documentaries !!
Extraordinary... theres just no words other than that... how can a youtuber go so far to make one of the best nature films ever
Bro your work is unparalleled.
You are the deep sea David Attenborough.
I appreciate you so much dude.
Knowledge & peaceful, beautiful presentation
Leo, this is absolutely brilliant work! So glad to see a video from you, and it was well worth the wait!
So happy to see how far you've come, and how you've nurtured your passion for the sea and for filming. Proud of you!
This made me so warm!!! Thank you, truly. ❤️
Wonderful job again, Leo.
Thank you so much Annette!
I SOOOO LOVE THIS CHANNEL, AND LEO!! It has NEVER ceased to AMAZE, educate, inspire, calm, and just plain FASCINATE me! THANK YOU 🙌 for sharing it...for FREE! We are ALL so much better, having seen it. ☆Blessed Be☆
I love your work Leo, I don't really know much about the deep sea and watching your videos is the perfect way to understand more about what I love
i literally shouted when i saw you uploaded i was so excited, another absolutely amazing film leo
I don't even study biology and still here binge watching your videos. The editing really brings an eerie calm vibe to it much like the ocean :)
This just made my day 🥹 did you have a favourite part? Feedback is super handy for me to have while I work on the next film
@@NaturalWorldFacts ohh I mean I was playing the video in the background while trying to sleep 😭 but I think I prefer short documentaries over the ones that are 1 hour long
I learnt the world ephemeral today. Thank you very much!
God the ocean and space are so incredible. I could watch documentaries like this for hours
This was incredible! Well worth the wait. Thank you for sharing; it also helps me understand my theory that life does exist beyond this planet. I have a theory that there are ecosystems out there that can survive without the elements that we need to survive.
You've got one of the best channels around man. Keep it up!
It's 700 am and it's already an amazing day... Thank You
HE'S BACK.
Tell me why I got excited almost to tears when the baby octopus was born??!!?? 🥹🥹🥹 That was so flippin cute, and amazing!! 🤩🐙 🥲
Epic way to start the weekend!!!! :D ❤
Fantastic documentary! Absolutely brilliant, as always.
I would love a version without the other voices, though, for easy listening 😴 not that they’re not interesting and provide a valuable point of view, but they don’t have your relaxing cadence.
NWF never fails to provide me new and exciting information. The script and visual artistry embellish that information. I appreciate that. Thank you.
Ive not watched it yet, im gonna wait until my partner and i have some time to watch it together but im THRILLED a new video came out. Literally one of my favorite channels
Coming back to this video: I love that scientific discoveries can be as simple as a kid flipping over a rock and finding a little guy under it. Amazing stuff!!
This is an absolutely phenomenal documentary. Thoroughly enjoying it and look forward to seeing more just like it!
I was having trouble falling asleep until I discovered your video. Within about 10 minutes, I was out like a light. Thank you!
That makes me so happy! I have a ton more deep-sea films in an equally relaxing style, if you’re interested? All of them are here - ua-cam.com/play/PLKzq2xKdfIot0rJTxkzPG7srMQm0sSeIG.html&si=HKsZX2iNP38ZNnX7
Leo, what a wonderful job you did here. Thank you so much for showcasing the efforts of the team and their important work.
You sir deserve MILLIONS of subscribers! Your documentaries are that of National Geographic /BBC quality. How are these not played on such channels?! This had me completely mesmerized the entire time. Thank you for all of your hard and amazing work in bringing these documentaries on the deep sea to us 🌊🪸🪼🦐🐙
Was on a roadtrip from an area with no phone access to civilization today, and during the roadtrip, my gf was asking when your next video would come out. We came home to this pleasant timing and surprise. Very excited to put aside some time and watch this video with her!
You are raising the bar with every upload! This is just as good as any of the content on big networks. Amazing!
I somehow forgot there was a new Natural World Facts video 2 months ago on my main account but here I am. Man, this channel is so good.
You are so talented,.I stumbled across your page the other day and have been completely blown away with the quality of your work. Keep going, real talent will always get recognized, and you sir have extreme talent.
