REMASTERED IN HD! Music video by Audioslave performing Doesn't Remind Me. (C) 2005 Interscope Records and Sony BMG Entertainment #Audioslave #Doesn'tRemindMe #Remastered
The boxer training the boy is my grandfather Jack. He was a professional boxer with a phenomenal record. He trained his son who went on to winning many fights. He raised 6 kids, has half a dozen grand kids & over 30 great grand kids. Recently he lost his wife Bea to a life long battle to cancer. He’s the last rock of our family and the strongest man I know. Today he is 88yrs old! ❤️🥊
Yesterday while I was singing this song, my 2-year-old son approached to listen to me, when I finished singing he gave me an applause and a hug ... an unforgettable memory.
My interpretation is simply someone trying to deal with painful memories. When we've been through a tough experience, we often want to seek shelter in distractions. I remember when my dad died when I was 18 years old. I was told I did not have to come into work but I only skipped one day because being at home with nothing to do was worse than being at work with tasks to keep me from internalizing too much. That to me is what this song is about, the need to be distracted from painful memories, thoughts, and feelings. But these things have a habit of creeping in through the cracks. Odd things will set off memories of people we've loved and lost. The smell of a cigar, a bit of a song, an event, or any cue that brings things flooding back into the mind.
***** so true! My dad just died and i been looking for him since seven. I used drawing to escape since 7 and he just died two years ago. I do tattoos now to feel free and forget. Pain is a mf! We all pass away so ive learned to find things easier in life...its just memories we hold on to.
Yeah, people like that...like us are afraid by nothing but boredom. Moreover,I think this song talks about 2 persons . It could be friends,or lovers deciding to forget their past/to leave their problems behind them in order to enjoy a new life together.
My dad died 8 months ago, I just recently turned 18. Its so true that we try to distract ourselves but we have to live through our grieving or it will never truly go away. Good luck to everyone .
It was 3 yrs this past April that my oldest son Hunter passed away from complications due to muscular dystrophy. He was 22. Grief has hit me in different stages. Lately I can't even look at his photos. I've always loved this song but lately it touches my heart in such a way. I get it...I truly get it. I don't want to be reminded of anything because it tells me he is never coming back to me in this lifetime. 💔 Momma loves you buddy. Rest easy...I'll be home soon 💙
Im so sorry for your loss. My brother in law had merosin deficient muscular dystrophy. Passed away May 2016 at the age of 23. This song reminds me of a lot too.. And I also feel very sorry for losing Chris Cornell.. He was an artist I really emphatized with..
Dayna, I know a strangers words may be fruitless but I want to offer you my most deepest sympathies. No parent should have to experience what you’ve been through. It takes unbelievable strength to share your experience and for that I thank you. God bless.
This video played so often on VH1 in the early morning while I ate breakfast during my senior year of high school. It still brings a tear to my eye some 15 years later.
Nobody sounds like Chris Cornell. Nobody can replace his incredible voice. he was one in a million. a true artist. creative, kind, intelligent, and genuine. Loved him in Soundgarden, Audioslave, and as a solo artist. rest in peace, Chris Cornell.
I agree with you! Irreplaceable. If you haven't heard Big Wreck's Ian Thornley, it does remind me a bit of that soul, though. ua-cam.com/video/-HmW9rVAtVs/v-deo.html
Technically, if he was only one in a million, there's be like 30 or so of him in just the US right now. Even at one in a billion, there's still be like 8 of him. One in a trillion seems like the best answer, since we don't have a trillion people yet.
Check out the song Soulcrusher by the band Operator. Lead singer Johnny Strong is also an actor from 1st fast and furious movie but he sounds eerily similar to Cornell
When he passed away, I never got the strength to listen to his songs again until this month- August 2020. Playing this on my guitar the whole afternoon. Love you, Chris, look over us! Rest easy. 🕊
Miss Aireen, I myself would also change the channel on the radio if anything from Cornell came on for quite awhile because I would avoid as much as possible those feelings of loss that takes your breath. Now I have been listening if a song comes on although I still can't bring myself to play anything of his songs on my guitar because playing feels that much more personal to me. Everyone deals with loss different but out of all this one thing is quite clear. His life was taken when he was entering another beautiful time if you will in our short lives. God bless and stay strong.
I still can't listen to Chris cornell or Chester bennington's music without tearing up. thankfully now, it's easier to listen to and i'm proud of the tears. Still miss them deeply.
That scenes before the kid win the fight, the father dying, the mother dropping the phone, the kid throwing the toy to the lake make me cry all the times I watch the video. Excellent video, excellent lyrics, excellent Morello's solo. Respect Audioslave
Well it one thing to go tell a kid to stand in the corner. but If you tell a kid to go beat the shit out of another kid and he doesn't want too. your going to have a lot more trouble getting that kid to do it.
***** I got the idea that the kid was using boxing as a way to cope with his anger at his dad's death. He tore down the poster of Uncle Sam and threw the airplane into the lake, so he seemed pretty pissed with the Airforce (where we can assume his dad died), to say the least. The kid seemed really into training for boxing, like when he gets out of the car and sprints up the steps. He raises his hands in triumph. The mom may have been tugging him into the ring so forcefully because they were just late. In a sense, maybe he liked boxing because "it doesn't remind him of anything." :) But it's a music video, and they're all up for interpretation. That's just mine.
I'm not saying it's the most healthy way to deal with grief, just that I think boxing was the child's idea rather than being forced into it by his mother. We all tend to do things while we're grieving that aren't healthy. Some people drink or do drugs, or sleep all day, or don't sleep at all. Some eat too much or too little, or push everyone they love away. At least the kid was in a controlled environment where the fight can be called off before anyone gets too hurt, rather than being out on the streets and picking a fight where he's at a much higher risk of injury. Boxing isn't as productive and healing as therapy, that's true, but it is a healthier alternative than some things people will do to ease the pain. In fact I think Chris Cornell was in the middle of an alcohol/drug problem when he made this song.
Such an utterly genius song and powerful video. 'Doesn't Remind Me Of Anything' basically means any random feeling is better than sad memories of loss. In this video, it's the little boy losing his father, an air force pilot who died in war. All his memories shown in the video are happy EXCEPT the few seconds during the guitar rift where the crash is shown, the phone falls, the boy throws the toy plane into the water in sadness/anger. The boy wants to be a fighter like his dad, and his mum supports him and is proud/sad. I'm not even an emotional guy, and this video tears me up everytime. And to think it foreshadowed Chris Cornel's own battle with depression and his death/our loss. So fucking tragic :'(
That's Right, because audioslave was one of those supergroups that was the vocalist from one band and the rest of another band. Alter bridge was another one of those supergroups
The actress who plays the mother conveys so much emotion it breaks my heart to see her. The adoration mixed with sadness mixed with love and everything else is palpable.
The song that really breaks my hardened heart is "I promise it's not goodbye" ..when you hear him sing that song KNOWING that he did in fact commit suicide. It's a genuine God damned tragedy.
Same here... I don't know what it is about this simple song, but it pulls the feels right up and out of me. I get choked up every single time I hear this song.
+PotatoSamosa The song is sung from the perspective of someone who has lost a loved one and is grieving. The video portrays it as a kid and his mother who's father/husband was killed in combat and how they're adjusting to/grieving it. (sometimes well and sometimes not so wel)
I never realized it before. Absolutely heartbreaking video/song. Tragedy sucks. In the end the kid does win the fight though. Victory through tragedy. We gotta fight the powers that be. Fuck Uncle Sam!!!
i think im on that bridge now in life any words of wisdom on how to deal with it? my best friend is my dad and this song brings me to tears. may your son do good and God bless you.
DAVY MATHENY hey Davy! I kno u weren't talking to me but I saw it post... my advice would be, just flood these times with physical & verbal love& tons of laughter so when you look back u dont have any regret. GOD BLESS
It's so sad that thousands if not millions of his fans couldn't help him like how he helped us. He really helped me carry on through my dissociation with the world, when I was younger. Made me believe there's people out there that I can belong to. And I'm glad I'm still around now. Thank you Chris, rest in peace.
so many songs where i go t learn and think "well thats easy, i couldve wrote that...... but we didnt. Such a good rhythm. I was lucky enough t see chris cornel several times. a great musician whos played with some great musicians x
It's probably been said a million times but the song to me is having gone through so much shit with someone or something and so you do a bunch of random things to keep your mind off of it and then the bridge is like where you think you can just give an apology and expect everything to go back to the way it was and act like nothing had happened, and then the guitar solo is the rage you experience after you realize that nothing can go back to the way it was, and then you just go back to doing things to keep your mind off whatever happened.
interesting interpretation, thanks for sharing. Remember this is/was a song before it was a video. if you just listen you may come up with something very different. The beauty of the art of music, we all get our own interpretation.
Those folks work very hard and all they desire is to be heard! *watch?v=TCnlGhlXXBw* Of course, that's incredible! UA-cam the video and experience a fun time!!
Two things in addition to what everyone else has said. How sweetly sung is that bridge? Chris’ voice hangs impossibly like a delicate sundrop in a downpour. And secondly, right after the bridge, how damn hard Tom Morello stomps into his incredible solo. The juxtaposition of moments like these made this band so great. Too bad they didn’t get the credit they deserved at the time. RIP Chris, no-one sings like you 😢🥀.
Mission accomplished. I am reminded of things that I didn't think of again until now. Childhood is a fleeting thing, not all of us got to enjoy it. Take comfort in happy memories
90s Soundgarden Mid 2000s Audioslave both from legend himself Chris Cornell. RIP Chris Cornell "At the end of the day it's the fans who make you who you are." - Chris Cornell
This song is so ironic, because IT reminds me of past relationships and being young and starting college and my first house and my first roommates. Doesn't Remind Me reminds me of everything.
I totally agree. This is mine and my older brothers favorite song. Every time I listen to this nostalgia hits me like a truck of the times we used to hang out together. sucks we can't much anymore
There are a lot of obvious songs out there that make people cry and for good reason. When I listen to this song it is an emotional battle and when the guitar solo starts it's a whole other level. The emotion that Tom Morello translates in this guitar solo is just pure emotion and to me I always think of someone trying to suppress their emotions deep within but the solo to me represents those emotions breaking free. By far my favourite guitar solo.
This song can transport me to a moment in time, ie, the early 2000s, like no other. This video, featuring the pilot father photo, (implied he was killed in the Gulf War), is an amazing visualization of this era... I can almost see myself from a third person perspective, sitting at the PC in the living room, my little guy watching Ed, Edd, & Eddy, listening with big ol' headphones to music, as I sipped my coffee. Plus, the love of the little boy's mom, and his determination... I get something in my eye if I watch it. Agreed about Chris. Of the Big Five OG grunge acts out of early nineties-era Seattle, I'm probably less versed in SG than the other four. (I think my top five would go: Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, & SG last, but, I think maybe I just need to play them more!!)
This song will always make me cry. No matter what. It makes me regret fucking up my relationship with my father. Not doing what i should to be a better father to my son. I just want to make it better thats why i go to work everyday. Ive just been doing everything i can to forget but its always gonna be.
I'm from Mexico and some friends and I started an Audioslave tribute band. This was one of the songs that I liked the most. We did a gig and we did well. 3 weeks later Chris is found dead. I'm really hurt by this moment in our lives. The point is that doing this tribute band made me appreciate more Chris Cornell than never. He was, he is, and he will always be my superhero.
Osorni Gameplays He was an amazing talent! It's a shame that he saw no other way out. But that won't tarnish his incredible legacy, & his music will out live all of us! Btw, I agree w/ Clash Of The Horns, it would be cool to hear your cover.
There have been a few good bands that came out after the 90's. Chevelle, 21 Pilots, Greta Van Fleet. That's all I can think of at the moment, but, there must be at least a couple more, right?
I'm sitting here on a Sunday, planning to prepare for a performance review at work on Monday and I came across this song while sipping on a preworkout drink on my bedroom floor. As I watch the video and listen to the lyrics, I can't help but shed tears at how far away ive distanced myself from my youth. This song perfectly encapsulates the spirit of how I was as a young boy without the weight of the world on my shoulders. Being so alive and awake in the present moment that it indeed did not remind me of anything. In a sense, ignorance is bliss. After listening to this song, i feel a little more determined to tap into that same vibrational frequency I had as a kid. Peace love and blessings to all you good folk around the globe. May you all be blessed and healthy as you scroll through reading the comments of other soldiers who are fighting the good fight✌️
I want Chris Cornell Resurrected by God, sooner than later, folks. It ain't about you. He struggled with Depression, made beauty and had a precious family that miss him. So there.
God damn Chris... why? was just yesterday listening to audioslave and thinking... this guys are so awesome... the music is so good... why man? Rest in peace!
I owe Chris Cornell a lot! Thanks for giving yourself to the world! You’ll always be my number one singer & writer in rock music! You spoke to me on a whole different level... such a big loss... #anotherbrothergone

Mind blowing really. It's song writing and performance perfection....a timeless piece no doubt. I don't get either.

It' a good song but it's not in their top 3.

I hope youre resting easy Chris. You're missed by many every day
People call me Jeremy for some reason
Also I keep on getting spam risk calls
You'll always be a legend Chris.
Chris Cornell needed his own Chris Cornell like we had to get through tough times.
💖
That's one of the best comments about Chris Cornell I've ever read. (Thanks)
AMEN! I SEE IT! RIP! MY LOST FRIEND TO BE!
He did. His name was Andy Wood.
Great comment.
2024 and his voice still gives me chills
Watching this video again after years made me cry...
It's probably been said a million times but the song to me is having gone through so much shit with someone or something and so you do a bunch of random things to keep your mind off of it and then the bridge is like where you think you can just give an apology and expect everything to go back to the way it was and act like nothing had happened, and then the guitar solo is the rage you experience after you realize that nothing can go back to the way it was, and then you just go back to doing things to keep your mind off whatever happened.
feel you bro.
There is only so many times that sorry will matter.
you are right
You get it.
interesting interpretation, thanks for sharing. Remember this is/was a song before it was a video. if you just listen you may come up with something very different.
The beauty of the art of music, we all get our own interpretation.

What an absurd song with an absurd video. I love it.
lolz thats true.. love it too ;)
Those folks work very hard and all they desire is to be heard!
*watch?v=TCnlGhlXXBw*
Of course, that's incredible!
Well said and Chris would have liked the descriptive vocab❤
one of the greatest songs of all time
I can completely relate to this song. The lyrics are extremely deep & Tom Morello's solo is absolutely amazing. RIP Chris Cornell.
Chris is the best singer of my generation. I miss him.
Jon Mattingly I would have to say it was Shannon Hoon
What ab Chester Bennington?
agreeeeed
@@johnsinnott5419 chester sucked
How about layne Staley
This song brings be back to being a young boy playing alone to try to block out the mess around me growing up.. rip chris
God this song man.
This is one of the most heart felt songs and vidyas ever..
Mission accomplished. I am reminded of things that I didn't think of again until now. Childhood is a fleeting thing, not all of us got to enjoy it. Take comfort in happy memories
Most brilliant lyricist of my lifetime and the voice that will never be equalled.
Amen.
90s Soundgarden Mid 2000s Audioslave both from legend himself Chris Cornell. RIP Chris Cornell
"At the end of the day it's the fans who make you who you are." - Chris Cornell
Audio slave is VERY good at what he does. ❤
No other song makes me push harder even when I'm exhausted. Thank you for everything. RIP Chris.
this song always gets me through the hard times.
Simply put, this is beautiful.
Beautiful song.
This song is so ironic, because IT reminds me of past relationships and being young and starting college and my first house and my first roommates.
Doesn't Remind Me reminds me of everything.
+Ashley Scott ... true that!
I totally agree. This is mine and my older brothers favorite song. Every time I listen to this nostalgia hits me like a truck of the times we used to hang out together. sucks we can't much anymore
+Lonster Monster Yeah, it hits me like a truck, like when i was in the truck...being....in the truck.
+Ashley Scott As for me this song really doesn't remind me of anything, I feel like a kid again.
+Ashley Scott thats the point :) if you saw the inception, you should know why is that :)
What a great meaningful video.
please dont let this song die. everything is in there
"what's mine is ours if it doesn't remind me of anything."
Awesome insight. You've given new light to this song in my eyes. Thanks.
I was initially thinking where have I heard it before. then the tune started and it reminded me of everything.
This song will always make me cry. No matter what. It makes me regret fucking up my relationship with my father. Not doing what i should to be a better father to my son. I just want to make it better thats why i go to work everyday. Ive just been doing everything i can to forget but its always gonna be.
the guitar solo gives me chills
Best one I know! From every song I be heard so far! 👌🏻
Rest in peace brother, your voice is fucking incredible, my kids will know who you were.
Osorni Gameplays you should upload a video of you guys rocking a audioslave song on your channel. I have family in sinaloa and jalisco 🖒🖒🖒
Osorni Gameplays He was an amazing talent! It's a shame that he saw no other way out. But that won't tarnish his incredible legacy, & his music will out live all of us! Btw, I agree w/ Clash Of The Horns, it would be cool to hear your cover.
Osorni Gameplays I hope you are successful and make some more kick a$$ music.
Osorni Gameplays that's awesome brother!
Osorni Gameplays 1
this is one of the few songs that roll tears down my eyes every time. Where has all the good music gone?
It’s all the 80’s and 90’s 🤘🤘
Dead with Chris 😢
There have been a few good bands that came out after the 90's. Chevelle, 21 Pilots, Greta Van Fleet. That's all I can think of at the moment, but, there must be at least a couple more, right?
Same here. And the video speaks tons to me
Blame your generation
"Cornell had the songwriting skills of the Beatles, the weight of Black Sabbah, and a powerful voice like Mercury." - DAVE GROHL
He was everything!!
This video is scary powerful
Best. Solo. Ever. Tom Morello. Guitar. God.
+Wiencon I look forward to his solo everytime I hear this song... builds up then... here we go...
Amazeballs
in my opinion, the title of best solo goes to David gilmour in the Floyd song "time". That solo always takes me to another dimension!
I agree with David Gilmour, But the solo in Dogs is my favorite of his.
My favorite music vídeo ❤❤❤
One of my favorite guitar solos ever!
This song is a god damn American treasure. Do not take it for granted.
Thanks for making me cry Chris 😂❤😢😢
Junqueiropolis, São Paulo, Brasil.
Love you Chris Cornell Forever
this is what i needed today to end my day.
This reminds me of my dad. God I miss him 😢 🙏
dont want to learn what ill need to forget.............damn right!!!!!!!!
when Chris sings "slow and sweetly" it absolutely kills me - RIP
This video brings me to tears every time I watch it. Every. Single. Time. And it feels amazing.
This has been the only song that doesn't make me cry. I fuckin miss him.
This song reminds me of my brother.
We miss you.
We forgive you.
this song reminds me of everything
Dude, why is this video better than entire Netflix shows? The amount of story telling jammed into less than 4 mins is dope.
Because Netflix original content is cheap, trite, focus-grouped drivel
I want Chris Cornell Resurrected by God, sooner than later, folks. It ain't about you. He struggled with Depression, made beauty and had a precious family that miss him. So there.
I've seen this music video a 100x as a kid. Seeing it again for the first time in years and it really hits different
I can’t watch this without a tear. Easily one of the most fitting videos to a song. Great song, band, and video. RIP Chris C.
This really hits home.. miss u Chris.. you’ll forever be missed and celebrated. ❤️🔥
Audioslave , Temple of the Dog and Velvet Revolver. The Hybrid Tour !
It has a very "All American" type feel to it,huh??A great song to listen to on a lazy Sunday.
