How to Hardwire Front/Back Dashcams in a Gen 2 Prius (2004-09)

I followed this and installed a viofo duo plus on my gen 2 prius. Here are things ive encountered that are a little different from the video.
1. 2006 model Priuses use the smaller size fuse, so before u get your fuse taps make sure you buy the right size version of them
2. When routing cable thru the pillars make sure your cable isn't obstructing the airbag, this is really important
3. You don't have to cut your microusb cable, there are videos where they use a technique called fishing. Essentially you tie your micro usb cable to something like a ziptie and wrap it in tape (this makes a smooth surface) now use a non petroleum based lubricant or just soapy water/windex and apply it on the tape, thus way you can pull the ziptie thru the rubber bush without cutting the cable.
That's it, total time could be about 3-4 hrs for a first timer!
Be careful, old plastic elements often break off when you force-unsnap them after 10 years. This particular Prius has a very narrow rubber tubing and depending on what you have to snake thru, it might just not fit as was the case here. Ironically speaking, the more I learn about the Prius, the more I think it’s been engineered a bit like IKEA furniture. It was meant to be built once and not unbuilt later. Good luck:).

Thank you so much for the video. I really appreciate it. I have a question: If you witness an event and you push the button to start recording a video, does camera record few moments in past or not? The moment you see an event till you push the button and camera starts recording takes some times and probably some parts are missing, but if the camera does not miss the moments happened before you start recording, then your camera catches everything...

Ha, that side ground point is the same way to get to as on a corolla. Good thing, since i've already done this kind of thing on a corolla and gonna need to do it in my prius.

Question since you’ve done a few pictorials on the Toyota Prius. Do you think it would be easier to install the rear dash cam through the middle of the headliner, instead of going around the door jams. So you don’t have to interfere with the side airbag curtains?
