Glad there are some other train fans here 😀 I have an old video about railfanning by traffic camera - I'll have to update it eventually: ua-cam.com/video/2yAt52Udizw/v-deo.htmlsi=S7z8fk9PawPEBoSx
2:50 - It looks like their brakes just didn't work. This actually happened to me once: the vacuum boosters went out. Tried to stop at a red light but _couldn't_ and rear ended someone. Thankfully, I wasn't going very fast and we were able to move both cars to a parking lot. The cop that showed up decided to try driving my car himself and despite me warning him that the brakes didn't work, he still almost hit a car exiting a parking spot. 4:33 - This reminds me of something I saw happen out of state. A vehicle zoomed out of a gas station at an intersection to strike a vehicle waiting at the light that had just turned green and then sped off. It was very clearly deliberate. The getaway car and second bump after the initial hit makes me think this was malicious.
IMO the drivers in the PNW, specifically Seattle and Portland are AWFUL. Those two cities have some of the worst driving I have ever seen in my life. I thought Charlotte had bad driving until I came up here. It's like everyone in Seattle drives with no spatial awareness at all. You know, like driving 10 under the limit, not noticing the light turning green until 2 seconds before it turns yellow, merging super slow on the freeway...like what the hell is going on up here? And Oregon, dear god. That little hemlock tree on their license plate means the car is governed at 47 mph and WILL BE in the left lane. I never understood why CA drivers got such a bad rap when the REAL crime is going on up in the Northwest. People here literally don't know what the fuck they're doing.
Seattle is the worst in the nation...they are just blind reckless...Portland drivers are brainless always hitting their brakes...they even brake on an UP HILL!!...brake gas brake gas...driving on the freeway..10 miles below the speed limit and constantly braking when there isn't even a car in front of them for several hundred feet...but yet they keep hitting their brakes...who does that?...only in Portland...so skills whatsoever!
Seattle is very wicked. I've seen a car go north bound on third avenue running red lights, turn around coming back doing the same thing. Some people are privileged and don't think the laws apply to them.
Interesting to hear worse since plannedemic … I used to live there 80’s & 90’s and was really bad with slightest ice or snow fall … strange so many bad drivers in one city.
Yes turning left on a red arrow is always a terrible idea. However, the worst idea was integrating the light rail system into the public roads in south Seattle.
As a daily Seattle pedestrian, the amount of people who dangerously J-walk is impressive. Every day people will just walk across the street into oncoming traffic from both sides and not only put their lives in the hands of drivers but unnecessarily risk car accidents due to drivers suddenly breaking in between traffic lights.
@@shinma989 I know people feel like the roads take up too much space, but Seattle pedestrians: when there's a protected crosswalk 20 feet away, and you can't even use that, could you at least make it obvious you plan on crossing instead of bolting out into the road like a frightened squirrel??
What gets me about Seattle drivers is twofold. They can't drive in rain (I can understand snow because they don't get much, but rain?!) and they tend to not use headlights when they definitely should, like in rain and in the dark. Sometimes it's not even because daytime running lights plus streetlights provide a false sense of security (in addition to dashboard instruments lit up regardless of headlight use). They just drive on, blissfully unaware that they're totally invisible to other drivers and probably can't even see too well themselves. Don't get me wrong; I know Texas driving and they suck there too (for different reasons) and it seems hardly anywhere is worse than the Kansas City area, but you'd think Seattleites could drive in the rain and would know how to use headlights.
Yep - I'm never sure how Seattleites can forget how to drive in the rain when it's only dry for a month or two between rain storms, at most. (Typing this while looking at a cold, damp August day out the window 😂)
These were all captured between November 15th and January 8th. It really depends on if the cameras are facing the right way or not - like today I got one crash on camera, and missed like 4 more that would have been visible if the camera was facing a different direction.
That camera at the cvs (8:00) with the blinking blue lights is fucking obnoxious. Saw a story where someone viewing the feed started haranguing a guy just waiting at the bus stop. Said they're going to call the police for loitering or prowling. That CVS is a real dump of a place.
Huh, interesting. Is the camera monitored by CVS personnel, or do they have a company that does it? I always assumed those cameras in parking lots were just recording, but I guess it makes sense that have them monitored as well. Sucks that they're being used to harass innocent people.
This is so cool. How are you able to move footage left to right? And how do you zoom in? Is this part of the original footage or your personal software?
Thank you! The cameras are controlled by Seattle DOT, so they're the ones that pan and zoom. I use software to zoom in after the fact for some shots, but that usually lowers the quality.
That's wild - I feel like we need harsher penalties for car theft, especially since so many of them are being used to commit robberies and other crimes.
November 6, 2012, Washington became the first U.S. state to legalize recreational use of marijuana. There's part of the reason of so many accidents. Most of these accidents happen at night and of course it rains a lot in Seatle so streets are slick.People don't slow down. Watching these speeding cars going through red lights and they're not even being chased by police cars. Amazing. Damn that Tesla being rear ended at the stop light.
Huh, yeah, I wonder how much of an effect that has. A survey from 2022 showed that 20% of Seattle residents use marijuana, but I think a much larger portion use cell phones while driving. I think the lack of traffic enforcement the last few years definitely makes a difference as well. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/data/seattle-no-2-among-metros-where-cannabis-is-more-popular-than-nicotine
... evidence? Of course once anything gets popular, wrong ways of using it occur, including it being a distraction to driving. But I doubt weed holds any significant numbers for being the main cause of traffic accidents than before 2012.
Stoned drivers tend to drive below the speed limit. Possibly waaaaaaay below it enough to attract police attention. Also if you're smoking pot at night, you're usually doing it at home, not at a business you'd need to drive back from afterwards. Flying through intersections is what drunks do.

I like trains
Trains are better when they are not at road level and can't be interfered with, and can go faster.
Fascinating. I’m a lifelong Seattleite and most of these areas are pretty notorious traffic nightmares. Denny and Mercer streets are the worst.

Ugh, I ride or drive on most of these roads/intersections on an almost daily basis. The waterfront especially has red light runners out the ass.
I love your comment. To the point and no exaggeration.
Thank you so much!
How many were stolen cars?
Probably all of the ones where the driver bailed on foot or fled the scene afterwards...
Just dialing in from the East Renton Highland. Shout outs!!!
you have now getting updated about that Rescue call at 6:13 has "gone to Heaven" via WSB

The car at 8:03 looks like they were driving the wrong way on Queen Anne (one way street).
Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me, based on the rest of their driving maneuvers. Thanks for watching!
The people dashing out into the street distracted the person at 2:57, they're definitely partially to blame for this mishap!

how do people even get a license???? how do u run red lights!!!!!???? some serious questions here
