@zoltarpanaflex3694 I unfortunately have been. Turning left on green arrow on Dearborn, got hit by a drunk in a stolen car going about 60. Took off the front end of my pickup. It was 10+ years ago or Id probably be featured here too...
I've lived in metro Seattle for 54 of my 56 years. I can confirm that our drivers are lunatics and are likely some of the worst in the entire country. Tailgating is horrible, speed limit and yield signs are ignored, and most of our vehicles apparently have no turn signals!
My first time here, thanks for an unintentional touch on my screen. I really enjoyed your narration. Refreshingly simple and without a lot of stupid guesses. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm not able to upload as often as I used to (newborn at home) but I have a lot of great older videos, and I'll still be putting new ones up when I can.
Believe me it’s not just Seattle…people drive like 💩everywhere!! The biggest problem is everyone who is driving is too damn busy doing everything but driving!! Phone in one hand, burger in the other and a Starbucks in their lap!! If people would just pay attention to the driving a little about half of these crashes wouldn’t have happened!!
Yeah, I believe it - I'm sure if there were traffic cameras like this everywhere, we'd see just as many crashes. And I agree, distracted driving is a huge issue - it's so frustrating. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your low-key sense of humor. With those kinds of drivers, Seattle's auto insurance rates must be very expensive. Thanks for taking the time to find and upload these crazy crashes for us.
I immediately liked and subscribed! I am an outside salesperson and drive all of these streets to meet with clients. I cannot believe the clarity and action you reported! I was speechless. Great job and excellent narrative and reporting! This taught me to further slow down, be patient and exercise grace and patience. Bravo!
You driving a motor vehicle is a privilege granted to someone who successfully passes a driver's education course and a licensing test administered by a tester/instructor with the department of motor vehicles, whose issues a driver's license to those who pass. The video I just watched makes me wonder how many of "drivers" are actually licensed to be on the road in the first place.
YES! People treat driving way too casually. I'm really not sure if it's a licensing issue, or just a culture issue where most people think it's acceptable to speed / drive distracted / etc. My dream is that someday driving while on your phone has the same stigma as driving while intoxicated (which still happens WAY too often). Thanks for watching!
My guess on the first clip is that one of the 2 cars ran a red light, and was in the intersection when they weren't supposed to be, causing the one to panic and swerve into the building
Have no idea why this was in my algorithm, but I am glad I stayed to watch. Funny, messed up crashes, but somehow your voice made it bearable. Guess I'll have to subscribe, for more of your videos lol
I lived in Atlanta and Savannah, and I rarely saw people crash into cars parked on the sides of the street. The number of people who not only clip but fully accordion smash parked cars with no other traffic around them up here is insane. And they're usually going less than 45. It boggles the mind that they've got parallel parking down pat but can't drive in a straight line.
Yeah, and it happens so often too - I've witnessed or driven past at least a half dozen similar crashes in my neighborhood over the past year or so, that weren't captured on camera. So frustrating. Thanks for watching!
Washington resident here, just got my car insurance notice yesterday. Can see why it went up. Keep all those people in Seattle, don't let them come over to the Peninsula to get away from it all.
It is nice to see what happened with some of the cars that come into my impound lot being shown here. the Corvette that just went into the middle greenbelt was something I was sort of interested what the story with it was.
Oh fun, I love that you recognize some of the cars. Yeah, the Corvette looked like it just accelerated too hard while turning left onto Mercer, and the wet roads got them. Thanks for watching!
It's such an engineering fail to have the light rail interact with motor vehicles, or for there to be a potential for collision, ever. Great job, Seattle.
Such a fail! And especially since so many folks use it to get to the airport ... nothing like missing your flight because a driver ignored a left turn arrow....
3:28 The poor kid driving the van was so distraught. His mom came to pick him up about half hour after the crash. The building isn’t fully repaired after all this time. Also the Honda parked at the corner is still there.
Oh wow, that must have been so scary for a young driver. I hadn't thought to see if it was repaired when I've driven by recently - I'm surprised it's taking that long. Lol @ the Honda - thanks for watching!
100% hate the tow truck guy who rear-ended the parked Uhaul, but that online review where the people admit that they brake checked him are just as bad if not worse. If someone is tailgating you, don't brake check them. That's far worse.
Watching this video reminded me of the time I spent in Seattle, Everett and Marysville in 2022. (I went there to see Tommy James & The Shondells at the casino - can’t remember what the name of it was right off hand). One of my not-so-fun experiences there was not being able to find a bathroom when I needed it. I sure hope that none of the drivers in this video inadvertently “went” when each of these crashes occurred 😂
It's so ridiculous that we don't have more public bathrooms in Seattle! I understand why, ie concerns about the homeless / drug use / etc, but still... I'd be willing to pay a dollar or two to use a clean public restroom, and I bet a lot of other folks would too!
Oh wow, hope you're doing okay! I don't have access to the WSDOT cameras on I-5; right now those are only available to media organizations that pay for them.
When they car do you dead to rights cutting across several lanes of traffic or just cruising through a red light and causing a crash, they should immediately take away your license for at least a year.
How did you get access to the cam recordings? I was hit by a 72 yo person, cited for DWI... but he denies running a red light and I would like to find footage. Dec 1st 2023, 5p at 99 and 80th. West most, soundbound lane.
Hi, unfortunately the archiving site I have access to only stores the footage for about a week. Incidents at 80th usually aren't visible anyway, as the closest camera is way up at 87th and Aurora.
Hmm .... that might be something I could add in the future, but at the moment I barely have time to gather the clips and do the voiceover. It looks like the road rage one was from late March 2024. Thanks for watching!
Yay WSB. Ive seen so many nutsos flying down that thing, changing lanes like they are in a rally race. Or trying to take 99 north exit at speed and playing pinball with the ramp barriers.
Oh yeah, I wish there were more cameras on the bridge / exits - it seems like there are a ton of crashes there. There used to be a camera on the WSB around Delridge, but it's been down for at least a year.
