An important thing I don't think was mentioned about sea lanterns - remember to mine sea lanterns using silk touch unless you specifically want prismarine crystals instead of the sea lantern. At the risk of introducing a spoiler, consider using a trident enchanted with Loyalty and Impaling to make defeating the Elder Guardians easier. The thorns are of no consequence when you can defeat them at range. It is also possible to use a bow underwater, though you'll have to shoot from closer range because the water slows arrows dramatically. Finally, you won't always find a sponge room in Ocean Monuments. Finding two was just another example of Pixlriffs' fantastic luck.
I'll have to check if Thorns affects bow attacks against Guardians, cuz it does against mobs on land. I usually avoid getting Thorns on armor but I got it accidentally and immediately noticed the skeletons getting knocked back when they shot me.
Quick tip: If you drink your night vision potion first and wait a few seconds then drink your water breath potion it give you a clear visual clue that that your water breathing is about to run out and a little bit more time to drink another one.
I don’t know why but I find the Ocean Monuments the most intimidating structures. Admittedly, I haven’t tackled the deep dark yet, so it may drop a spot
Instead of brewing potions for all of your underwater travels, carry a stack of Magma blocks which are quite easy to locate and farm (Oceans and Ruined Portals). These blocks provide a permanent air source underwater by crouching on them and do not require potion brewing capabilities such as travelling to the Nether for Wart and Blaze Rods. They also break easily underwater so it is easy to pick them up and take with you if you want or leave them behind for path tracking. As an added bonus: they also provide a light source to help see underwater so you do not need those night vision potions as much. Enjoy!
that is very true; and i do use magma blocks; but somthing to keep in mind is that for some reason you cant crouch underwater in bedrock so do be careful if your diing this method!
@@arrow_awsomein fact, you have to stay where you are if using magma blocks, or u won’t get the air needed. Mining fatigue means you cannot take the blocks with you around the monument.
I do use them and they are great I will had however that in bedrock they are very finicky and have lead to my demise in a pinch as they sometimes just decide not to provide the air that’s needed of them
The guardians' lasers ignore mundane armor - only the Protection enchantment will reduce their damage. So, if you haven't gotten into enchanting yet, any armor you bring in will do little more than reduce the thorns damage.
Love your guides! I typically take an invis potion as well. Wear just my boots with depth strider for faster walking then when all the elders are gone switch to my helm with aqua for faster mining.
Yes!! Another Episode! Which Means Another Excellent Day In My Survival World Knowing Everything About Everything Because Your Videos Are The Best Bro🔥🔥
I'd just like to say that I copied Pix's musem project into my own minecraft survival world. It was the most fun I have ever had in minecraft. I would recommend it to anyone. It's really fun working out how big that room is and what block is that and why am I getting different numbers every time I count.😂
Which means you have a 51.2% chance to get 0 armor trims, 38.4% chance to get 1, 9.6% chance to get 2, and 0.8% chance to get 3 from a single ocean monument with 3 elder guardians.

Or "There is a 1 in 3 chance that you will come out of the Ocean Monument with the Armor Trim after killing all 3 Elder Guardians" which would also be wrong. So not only Pix was wrong either way, he was also so vague we aren't sure what he actually meant. Oh well. It's not like he declared this as if this info was absolutely correct, and everyone is allowed to make mistakes from time to time, even Pix! ^.^
The Enderman grass block trick is way more useful in a Warped Forest biome. Great way to get a non-flammable wood farm going. I have wondered about dropping a conduit in the Monument before raiding. The top of the pyramid almost seems perfect to hold a conduit. The inverted Y shape is terrible for camouflage. Armies train soldiers to look for the shape when trying to spot camouflaged enemies. The shape is heavily associated with animal limbs. Plants generally do not make an inverted Y shape.
Prismarine changes colors!? I thought I was just always having a black/blue vs white/gold dress day with the shifting colors... If you do want to use doors for air pockets, place a honey block or slime block first, then place the door on top of that. You can instantly break honey and slime blocks even if you have mining fatigue, so when you break it, the door will come off and you can get it back to use it again elsewhere. Personally I prefer to wait until I have a conduit. It takes a while to get the ingredients, but you can get them without going to the nether. I place the conduit just past the entrance, in an inside corner 2 blocks out from each wall, on top of a honey/slime block. Then break the honey/slime to activate the conduit and you have water breathing and night vision which should work throughout the entire monument. I learned about that from someone in the comments of a Survival guide S2 episode, so I'm passing it along.
Thank you for posting this comment. I'm getting ready to tackle my first ocean monument, and I have a conduit that I've been trying to decide how to place in there to help. I'll definitely give this a try.
I love to play pure vanilla, I don't even run optimization mods because they change the lighting which effects the color of the game, but the one thing I do have installed is anti enderman griefing because I've built out of dirt before, and they're an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you do any kind of afk'ing near your base, they'll absolutely destroy the landscape leaving it covered in pock marks.
I managed to raid one without any milk buckets or doors. I basically went in with potion of invisibility, night vision and water breathing. Then I targeted and killed all 3 elder guardians. After that I waited for the mining fatigue to wear away and drank those 3 potions again to renew the effects and continued mining the monument.
A while ago I conquered my first ocean monument using dirt and sand to create air pockets. Bad idea, if you die once you can't get your stuff back if you don't have a spare Respiration helmet. Also I've been putting off making it into a prismarine farm for almost 4 months.
My goto method for raiding an ocean monument is to bring a conduit along. Break into the top chamber. Place a block then place the conduit and mine the block under the conduit. If you do it in the right place the conduit will activate and you will get water breathing and nightvision without the need for potions. Breaking two blocks even with mining fatigue is doable in a single breath. (In Bedrock at least / not sure about Java)
Or just pillar up from the bottom of the ocean. They're not really that deep in Minecraft. Heck the whole _world_ from top to bottom, is barely as tall as the Empire State Building.
i really like having all 4 pieces of netherite armor have the tide trim with diamond as the material. i love building with prismarine so it fits any ocean themed base i make
haha I have a longer running world an am at the moment digging a huge hole under a monument that I dried out. As I didn't think I'll need a super big guardian farm I built a small one in the dried out area but its not producing nearly enough I found, as I am decorating the whole wall to bedrock with prismarine amongst others. So I found a simple non drain design and went to a fresh monument, took care of the elders really quick and was so confused when I was done, where I got the armor trim from XD. Thank you for clearing that up.
For trim I used coast helmet with lapis trim, rib chestplate with diamond trim, tide leggings with diamond trim, and dune boots with diamond trim. It gets a nice gradient effect going. I am also in full netherite so that does change it
Thank God I can go back and start over. I have been working so much and lost my spot with you. So I will have to start over and begin again on a new world and start everything all over. UGH! At least I love the game and it won't be so terrible learning everything again. LOL Thank you for being so on top of things and explaining everything you do. I appreciate it!
Be scared and cautious as much as you like, it's your right to be. I usually clear the elder guardians with invis potions as well, aided by some TNT and slime/sand to break into the structure directly where they are located. The outer wings also have a couple of places where you can install quite an efficient conduit without the need to place or break blocks (other than slime or TNT as scaffolding, since those break instantly, even under mining fatigue).
I have used endermen to get nylium blocks in the nether. Great in early game to be able to decorate with nether wood by safely replanting in the overworld.
this is funny cause yesterday i literally saw your "raiding an ocean monument 1.18 tutorial lets play" and actually went on and did it myself with your tips
I just finish this week end to drain a 100 block diameter circle around a ocean monument in order to make a a mega ocean factory .... it took me a month !!!!

Just want to point that out.
Elder Guardians only re-inflict the effect instantly on Bedrock Edition. On Java Edition, they try to refresh it every 60 seconds. So if you drink a bucket of milk right away, you can mine blocks for a short time before the effect returns. Potentially enough to dig through to the Elder Guardians' locations or dig yourself out of a tight spot.
An elder guardian has a 20% cha 's to drop an aror trim. So that mean with an ocean monument with three elder guardians, you have a 48.8% chance of getting at least one armor trim
Usually when I raid a monument I can pass from one wing to another easily since there is a way between the 2 in the back (not sure if it applies to all of the monuments but the few times I raided one there was indeed a way).
It really gave me anxiety to see you just blast away athe dry sponges with a hoe in the black ... I went looking for the tide armour trim and decided to use invisibility potions, that worked great! Had to take off my armour except the boots. And I just today finished the guardian farm. Very nice video, well done.
Hey Pixl, what a great eps, thanks for showing the way you raid a ocean monument. I got some useful tips from you, O and good luck with filling a dubble chest with sponges😂. Cheers till the next eps.
I started drying out an ocean monument then I realized I should have brought a lot of scaffolding. I'd rather build a conduit, but I guess the whole subject will be next episode. I stripped out the inside of one monument to make an axolotl nursery. I like to build pointless things that are way too much trouble.
I am kinda annoyed that Pix didn't used my favorite technique to raid Ocean Monuments. But then again, he DID say he would make another episode about all the other tricks. Which is fair enough I guess, as there are so many things that can help you with this task. Guess I'll just let my irritation simmer for now, and let it all blow up in flames of glory in the next episode if he ain't thorough enough! ^.^
so I've started building this sorter and a question came up in my mind. What would happen if instead of 1 block of filter material in the 4 squares of the hoppers we leave 2 or 3 blocks of filter per square?
What do the guardians lasers do? I know the elder guardians beams give you the fatigue effect. It looked like guardians beams didn’t do anything. Can they give mining fatigue but it takes longer??
You get Mining Fatigue by entering a radius around the Elder Guardians. The lasers just damage you - if you let them build up, they change colour like they’re “charging up” and then inflict damage
another thing about the storage system, if you're not using water and instead hoppers to feed it, doesn't it make more sense to fill the hopper with the filler block to the point where you only need 1 sorting item? Since there won't be 2 entering?
You can use water streams and shoot the items at a hopper speed if that's what you meant. Using more filler items would still overflow at max capacity no matter the input speed.
@@Slaikkarinaj Yeah I just think the max capacity issue is much easier to deal with by adding more chests than necessary instead of wasting that many items. that said, maybe using overflow protection for some items (like cobblestone) and single items for rarer items makes sense
God I am having a NIGHTMARE of a time trying to get that tide armor trim. I must have killed 20+ elder guardians and at this point I'm thousands of blocks from my base trying to find more and more new ocean monuments. Send help Dx
I would strongly doubt that, because mining fatigue applies a lot of slowdown. Only things you can instantly break with your hand will still break instantly in that case - like slime or TNT blocks, for example.
Question: If I buy a monument map from the cartographer, than visit say the Woodland Mansion map. If I enter the structure, and come back home, will the Cartographer sell me a NEW map? (Reason I am asking is because the cartographer in my trading hall sold me a map where it was over 10,000 x 10,000 blocks away from base. It was a loooooooong walk to and from...) @_@ would hate to be sold a map and walk to the same structure...
In Java Edition, different cartographer will sell you a different map - but a single cartographer will always trade a map to the same location. On bedrock edition, the map will always point to the nearest landmark when you first open it - so I assume it’s possible to move a cartographer a few thousand blocks and receive a different map
I think you should try it one time, it’s really cool especially since it can be used as a mod or data pack. Can’t wait for the rest of the survival guide!
Deserts are just hot, the nether counts as "ultra hot", as you can see from water evaporating immediately, whether you place it by bucket or contained in a wet sponge.
Deserts will too. At least on Bedrock, dunno about Java. You can even make cool fountains with it although the sizzling and the lag from constant calculating of new water blocks is kinda annoying.
I am here bcoz me and my friends are on the server and came across the ocean monument. We keep on dying but luckily I created a house near the ocean monument 😂 We wanted to make a farm .Amazing tho we keep laughing as one of my friend put my shulker box while beinh poison😂 it took us too long to break it. so I've started building this sorter and a question came up in my mind.
@@Pixlriffs thank you! I guess you did such a good job avoiding them that the video didn’t really show that! 🙂
Thanks boss
I try my sponges in the Nether. Faster than light😂
You couldve just brought your conduit bro😂
This is good 👍
woooooo
boat could have been crafted from shipwreck
Will you make a skular unloader and a bigger input chest too
another thing about the storage system, if you're not using water and instead hoppers to feed it, doesn't it make more sense to fill the hopper with the filler block to the point where you only need 1 sorting item? Since there won't be 2 entering?
I guess you'll probably upgrade it to use water streams in the future
You can use water streams and shoot the items at a hopper speed if that's what you meant. Using more filler items would still overflow at max capacity no matter the input speed.
@@Slaikkarinaj Yeah I just think the max capacity issue is much easier to deal with by adding more chests than necessary instead of wasting that many items. that said, maybe using overflow protection for some items (like cobblestone) and single items for rarer items makes sense
@@MarthinusBosman Thing is even if you add more chest they could still eventually fill up causing the filter to overflow.
God I am having a NIGHTMARE of a time trying to get that tide armor trim. I must have killed 20+ elder guardians and at this point I'm thousands of blocks from my base trying to find more and more new ocean monuments. Send help Dx
We raided to monuments and each elder dropped an armor trim. I was baffled! I was like what?!?! is happening!?
🤩
😊
Do doors still make an air bubble? That's what I've done in the past for raiding monuments.
Yes, they still do that.
Bring full stack of moss blocks and a hoe. You can break them even when you have mining fatigue.

I would strongly doubt that, because mining fatigue applies a lot of slowdown. Only things you can instantly break with your hand will still break instantly in that case - like slime or TNT blocks, for example.
Argh, you’re the man.
will you make a woodland mansion base
Hei pix what do you think about teralith?
No opinion. I don't think I've ever played with it
@@Pixlriffs is a mod that ads biomes and makes the world generation better, you can search it and look at some refference images if you want
I think you should try it one time, it’s really cool especially since it can be used as a mod or data pack. Can’t wait for the rest of the survival guide!
Doesn't deserts dry sponges quickly 😅 aswell
Not in my experience, I think it's just the Nether
That's a cool idea!
@imperfectimp knew I've seen it somewhere probably a silentwisperer short
