the fun part about this is, that me and my friends completed our circle around the monument today, but we didn't really knew how to dry the area out efficiently. but as coincidence wants it, you posted the video today, so thank you, we're now grinding and drying :)
Using frost walker, yes, frost walker, if you walk on water and place sand on the ice, once the ice breaks the sand would fall to the bottom of the ocean. So, you can place like 5 blocks of sand per second. Meaning you might be able to drain a ocean monument faster.
I think I'll do this with the circle, not the temporary walls. Thanks for the Idea! Also I think I'll measure the height the monument from the bottom of the ocean to the surface, so I can just stack the sand all way up, then break the ice. I'll just add or remove excess sand.
tip: you don't have to place sand all around the tnt underwater for it to work, instead you can place one on top of the tnt. The sand will fall down on the block the tnt is, and since the tnt is technically IN a dry block, it will explode.
A couple tips: Only clear out the kelp and sea grass inside of the shape. That way there won't be naked spots around the shape. Use an automatic sand pusher thing to not have to place the blocks slowly (there'll probably be a tutorial on UA-cam) Hold F3 and right click, then press t. This will make it so that you don't have to hold down right click, blocks will be placed automatically and you can just use your mouse wheel to scroll to the next stack of sand.
I second this, you can basically AFK the entire wall divider placement doing this, bar moving the contraption once the push limit is reached but that only takes like 10 second. Combine that with flying machines in the Aisles of the walls and clearing water is just along process and not really much of manual one. You don't even need any sponges really. Although they do help for the uneven parts at the bottom of the trenches. I managed to clear a 150 diameter circle with like 30 sponges or less.
I did this with a friendly recently. We found doing a grid to be less frustrating with the sponges, but that's a lot of time placing sand/gravel. Ultimately it's nice because you can build a guardian farm inside for unlimited cod and prismarine, and there's lots of space to fill it as a base. We hollowed it out completely and then made our own rooms in the shape we needed. Took us a few weeks because it's so monotonous.
there are some possible improvments. you can build something like a automatic block pusher with a piston. it is really usefull for the small water slices and the outer walls, if you choose the square chape. with his small machine you can afk a bit

I found that a better way to dry out sponges for me is 1. Loot as many monuments as you can 2. make a automated furnace with hoppers and chests 3. rotate couple stacks of sponges and wet sponges in the furnace you use 2 stacks, go to the automatic furnace, dump all wet ones in and take the dry ones. sure you could also portal to nether, but with the furnaces you can do something else at the same time while they dry, like keep on draining water or making the sections.
@@XFrost_210 well, its useful to have alot of sponges anyways. with elytra you can loot multiple monuments in no time. to me it was way more annoying to run back and forth all the time.
@@XFrost_210 you can do what you want, but clearing a monument takes so much time. if you wanna go back and forth to nether with 20 sponges go ahead lmao.
For anyone wondering. I'm doing this myself and I learned a few things along the way. 1. If you make a square right around monument It will take approximately 3 shulkerboxes of blocks to enclose it. 2. For draining the most efficient way that uses the least sponges is 1 block under water level separated by 2 blocks then on 3rd block another sponge. it takes about 2 stacks of sponges this way. 3. For doing sand lines every 5 blocks, you can create redstone contraption that atumaticly pushes blocks for you so you just stand in one spot and place blocks. All you need is 4 solid blocks, redstone dust, repeater and redstone torch. You place piston on either side of piston 1 solid block. Under that block place one block diagonally in front of placed block and put redstone dust on it. Then leave 1 block gap for sand to be placed and then 2 solid blocks with repeater pointing into sand block and behind repeater redstone torch and just start placing blocks. 4. Please spend 1 hour making Warden mob switch as it shortens usage of your sanity and overall draining progress for about 3 hours, maybe more. 5. it takes around 20-30 hours constant grind to drain monument. 6. use fully enchanted hoe for easy sponge breaking and for the love of god don't use furnace to dry, use the nether. Open to any questions about it.
After over twenty hours of work, I drained my first monument! Thanks a ton for the tutorial, I ended up using the same schematics as you. Definitely the coolest thing I've done in minecraft, at least so far.
How was the circle made? Like, how is the outline of the circle made? Because I thought it went 6, 5, 4, 2, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 2, 4, 5, 6. Sorry if that's a little hard to read. That's what I thought the outline of the circle was but apparently it's not.
couple extra tips: -using a hoe can insta-break sponges -if your low on sponges, it can be useful to section off smaller areas for draining -a substitute for sand/gravel can be leaves, as they are easy to collect and can be burnt once drained.
Flying to desert and grabbing more sand would be faster than going into water and placing leaves imo. Since swimming takes longer than sitting and spamming right click.
I drained my monument a while ago (1.15 world with friends) and I did not take away the kelp and seagrass - yes they caused major pain :') (for those who might not know, like me back then: they create sourceblocks of water, or well, are waterlogged in other words) takes such a long time yes, but afterwards you're able to make a crazy efficient guardian farm c:
Instead of the whole setup with a redstone block you can put a piece of sand on top of the tnt then light the tnt with either a pressure plate or flint and steel and it will drop the sand onto the tnt and still work underwater.
Currently about 35% done draining a monument with a radius of 64 blocks. Good to know that I don't actually need 5x5 squares. Might continue doing it like that anyway for the extra safety, though, and at this point, I've got a good workflow going.
Pro Tip: For making the walls to divide the ocean into smaller sections, use smart pistons. Build one at any end and start placing your blocks. Iskall85 used this too!
Having only 35 sponges made this kinda a pain to drain, but my tactic is just to place the sponges 1 block under the water surface and place them every 3rd block. that way i got a very nice and clean drain process. Also i used a hoe so picking up the sponges doesn't take 51 years when you're in the water. placing all the sand absolutely sucked but it also feels rewarding knowing you didn't use any machines n stuff. just sharing my experience over here. drained about 60% of the monument as of right now.
Single piece of sand above tnt, then light tnt using fling and steel is the best method. Only uses 1 sand and much faster. The sand drops into the tnt block, causing it to damage blocks under water. I have no idea why barely anyone is doing it this way, but this is the easiest way.

Mojang: What if we created a temple under the ocean that was incredibly difficult and was protected by large sea monsters Players then: wow that sounds really difficult Players now: pathetic
do you think that this method is easy, it takes hours(I think 15 hours) to just get the amount of sand from the duper, and days to place them, and to put the sponges, how pathetic(and yes I know this is a joke)
Me(who already drained a temple on my own): interesting I used a similar way to do it, but the server I played on had disabled gravity blocks duping, so I had to suffer twice as you all
I developed my own more efficient way of draining when I built my ocean base. Make it 5 blocks of space between the walls and place 2 netherack and 1 sponge and keep doing that in the middle. Then drop down 3 blocks and do it again. Once I used all my sponge I ran long it with a macro spam switching between my netherite hoe and pick to break it all. You then dry the sponge in the nether and repeat.
It’s quite easy, he 100# will, gnembon made a vid about it but it’s not quite the tutorial, I would recommend just making a square 12x12 and in the middle 3x3 empty, the small square is where our mobs will die and out collecting system will be then, u fill the big square with water and at the bottom put soul sand and at the top put some water flowing to the small square. Wad really did a similar design. If u want more details give me your discord handle
Agreed I completed draining an ocean monument in a 2 day afk session. Only spent about 2-3 hours setting it up. Used a sand duper to get required materials, then fed it into a dispenser and fired at me. Did some math as too how much sand I would need and built the Ilmango design. Then just used torches to get rid of the sand. It’s honestly hard to watch people do it manually.
Can you please make a tutorial of guardian farm inside an ocean monument which takes less space and dosen't matter its efficiency. 128 sea lanterns per hour is enough for me.
this one ua-cam.com/video/t_D8xmqtM3A/v-deo.html, you don't even have to drain the monument, it's materials are extremely easy to get, and you can get 128 sea lanterns in 2 minutes using it
@@chamsderreche5750 Without portals cause they are banned in the server I play we have to use commands to go there. And secondly I want to fit it in the corner of my drained monument
I found draining easiest if you run 5block wide channels along the shape you selected (i went a 128 block wide oval) then just run along the Z or X axis of the map in a straight line placing the sponges 1 block below the water source in the centre of the channel, then drop down 2 blocks so your head is directly under that row of sponges and repeat. This can be achieved with as little as 1 stack of sponges and 1stack of scaffolding. But the more you have the faster it goes.
Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the sand placement? Like I've used circle generators but doesn't work with 2×2 center, I just wanna get the exact sand circle block placement, it's hard to explain
@@alcoholicgorilla6945 without resource gathering and just building it took like 20-30 hours but I did do it very in efficiently so you can probably do it in like 15. It was just the sand placing for me that took so long
Say if it works on bedrock please, cause it sucks getting all the mats or getting excited then it not work, example the shulker farm, I’d appreciate it and I think others would as well. Keep up the great work, much love.
It's a LOT faster to just build a flying machine to clear the water, but if you don't want to do that the optimal setup with sponges is make a 7x7 square with sand, then fill in the four corners. Bridge out to the middle and do a sponge every 4 blocks in the center of the column. It's also significantly faster to either swim down and place sand as you swim up, or make a floating temporary wall above the water for you to place sand against (walk back and forth placing sand) so you don't need to wait for the sand to fall each time before you can place another one. If you do a square instead of a circle you can also remove almost all the walls outside of the four corners (which can be blue glass so almost invisible) allowing you to just freely swim in and out of your monument (and squids will fall and die on it so free ink!)
i have drained 3 monuments in the past month about to do a 4th for a block swap monument base. as such gotta parrot others here, Use a hoe for instant mine on the sponges use a smart piston to set out sand blocks ( L shape, RS torch, RS dust, repeater, empty space, rs dust, 1 block higher solid block, into side of piston) Iskall 85s design on HC season 8 and i love the torch placement for breaking the blocks, my shovel crys tears of joy now

I can make a bone meal farm now + a fish farm 😌
That all you need lol
i never do that in my world
That sick
damn loving these bops 😫
LOL 😆
I mostly like lauri making the builds in the tutorial because he do in a interesting way
hey Shukercraft, could you also include a blueprint for the sand cylinder construction at 3:44? I want to do this too, but I dont know how to make a perfect circle. thx :)
EDIT:
Nvm, I found a circle grid site, sry

I started this project with my friend, and i did not know that it would be that big of a project :D We are now 6-8 hours in and half is done 😅
Mojang: What if we created a temple under the ocean that was incredibly difficult and was protected by large sea monsters
Players then: wow that sounds really difficult
Players now: pathetic
Nice joke 😂
do you think that this method is easy, it takes hours(I think 15 hours) to just get the amount of sand from the duper, and days to place them, and to put the sponges, how pathetic(and yes I know this is a joke)
This is the best minecraft tutorial channel ever
Me(who already drained a temple on my own): interesting
I used a similar way to do it, but the server I played on had disabled gravity blocks duping, so I had to suffer twice as you all
That's not Twice >_< its 5x
Man grab 2 efficiency 5 unbreaking 3 shovel and start mining sand. 1 hour of mining sand is enough
A minehut server I presume? It's super annoying how minehut disables sand and tnt dupers, which are necessary for most late game builds...
your re so patient
I developed my own more efficient way of draining when I built my ocean base. Make it 5 blocks of space between the walls and place 2 netherack and 1 sponge and keep doing that in the middle. Then drop down 3 blocks and do it again. Once I used all my sponge I ran long it with a macro spam switching between my netherite hoe and pick to break it all. You then dry the sponge in the nether and repeat.
That’s what I do to
this video was just in time when i need it
im too lazy lol
I used conduit for this purpose 😁😁😁!!! This gives more advantages !!!
Can you make a totorial on how to make a gardian farm in the monument with out distroing the monument
i think that’ll be his next tutorial, be patient
It’s quite easy, he 100# will, gnembon made a vid about it but it’s not quite the tutorial, I would recommend just making a square 12x12 and in the middle 3x3 empty, the small square is where our mobs will die and out collecting system will be then, u fill the big square with water and at the bottom put soul sand and at the top put some water flowing to the small square. Wad really did a similar design. If u want more details give me your discord handle
@@ahmedbennouna2200 tnx
You can find a video about this I don't remember who made it
Totorial lol
Shulkercraft hardworker no matter how long it take to make a video they alway took their time to entertained us
in my opinion using machines are way faster and thats what I was hoping this video would show
Agreed I completed draining an ocean monument in a 2 day afk session.
@@tomgargan8339 I used flying machines to drain it but I was just draining an ocean not a monument so it probably made easier for me
@@seanhealy3694 as long as they don’t want the monument though you can mine it out easily with beacon and conduit
@@seanhealy3694 I agree
What Happens If u drain the monument w the elders inside?
They flop about
It's harder to drain as you have to do it with mining fatigue and its harder to get the sponges back with the effect.
7:07 The Guradian Was Like What Have you Done.
How do you make the circle? Mine always looks odd like a square with rounded edges.
This guy’s patience is unbelievable
step one: don't
Can you please make a tutorial of guardian farm inside an ocean monument which takes less space and dosen't matter its efficiency. 128 sea lanterns per hour is enough for me.
this one ua-cam.com/video/t_D8xmqtM3A/v-deo.html, you don't even have to drain the monument, it's materials are extremely easy to get, and you can get 128 sea lanterns in 2 minutes using it
@@chamsderreche5750 Without portals cause they are banned in the server I play we have to use commands to go there. And secondly I want to fit it in the corner of my drained monument
@@hardikadhikari8a766 not possible
I found draining easiest if you run 5block wide channels along the shape you selected (i went a 128 block wide oval) then just run along the Z or X axis of the map in a straight line placing the sponges 1 block below the water source in the centre of the channel, then drop down 2 blocks so your head is directly under that row of sponges and repeat.
This can be achieved with as little as 1 stack of sponges and 1stack of scaffolding. But the more you have the faster it goes.
5:00 instead of pickaxe, I recommend you to use a hoe which is faster
This way is very good I tried my own way to drain monument it take 2 weeks and when i tried this tutorial one it take me 2 Days
Thnks Shulkercraft

shut up
last night I thought about draining a ocean monument and shulkercraft pulls through
To quickly mine the sponges in the nether i recommend using a hoe, it saves a lot of time.
Cheers for this man , now I can make a farm for the guardians .
Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the sand placement? Like I've used circle generators but doesn't work with 2×2 center, I just wanna get the exact sand circle block placement, it's hard to explain
do it in even number (plotz modeller) is good its what i use, dont use odd numbers
@Dumno you give me hope to finally hop back on my world after 3 months lol
IT is really nice seeing he is doing this in survival not creative
How long will this take on avg
How long did it take?
@@alcoholicgorilla6945 without resource gathering and just building it took like 20-30 hours but I did do it very in efficiently so you can probably do it in like 15. It was just the sand placing for me that took so long
@@notzappy the sand boarder took me a long time i just need to get sponges now but i have no potions of water breathing so im kinda stuck lol

Say if it works on bedrock please, cause it sucks getting all the mats or getting excited then it not work, example the shulker farm, I’d appreciate it and I think others would as well. Keep up the great work, much love.
I think it works in bedrock. Since all he did is place sand and sponge.
This put me in a good mood 🔥😌
ShulkerCraft: Completely drains an Ocean Monument in survival
Me: Too bad, I’m doing it in creative. I also have a friend to help me
It's a LOT faster to just build a flying machine to clear the water, but if you don't want to do that the optimal setup with sponges is make a 7x7 square with sand, then fill in the four corners.
If you do a square instead of a circle you can also remove almost all the walls outside of the four corners (which can be blue glass so almost invisible) allowing you to just freely swim in and out of your monument (and squids will fall and die on it so free ink!)
i have drained 3 monuments in the past month about to do a 4th for a block swap monument base.
as such gotta parrot others here,
Use a hoe for instant mine on the sponges
use a smart piston to set out sand blocks ( L shape, RS torch, RS dust, repeater, empty space, rs dust, 1 block higher solid block, into side of piston) Iskall 85s design on HC season 8
and i love the torch placement for breaking the blocks, my shovel crys tears of joy now
