I promise I didn’t post this early just to throw off all the “babe wake up” comments 😂 Just goofed up when I scheduled the video and didn’t set the time right. Enjoy the 11 hours of early access!
Quick comment before I finish watching. Some XP orbs will teleport through the return portal to your original spawn point (not the temporary spawn you set with a bed). Be sure to visit your original spawn soon after returning to the overworld to claim the rest of your XP orbs.
sadly, it is not that reliable, even with godspeed reaction time. the falling speed will kick you out of that 8 block range before even finishing to eat. maybe if theres a small ledge below the island, maybe it can reach that, but it might fail to detect that block. i suggest having enderpearls tho, atleast that is somewhat reliable if you mastered it.
Ender pearls are more reliable in that situation. I think falling speed and eating speed leaves a very narrow window of success. That said they did change chorus fruits recently so that might have changed.
just a heads up (pun? not intended) you'll continually get yeeted up into the air if you do crits/jump-attacks on the dragon when you're in the fountain & it's perched above you. To not have to deal with yeetage, don't jump, just let your weapon charge up between hits to do "strong attacks", and you'll chip away at the dragon's health still decently fast, with zero risk of yeetification. In terms of actually hitting the dragon, if you do F3+B you can see the massive main hitbox, and the smaller hitboxes that much closer resemble the outline of the dragon. attackign the massive hitbox won't work, but attacking the smaller hitboxes (best of all* is the lil hitbox around the dragon's head) will do the best possible damage Also, when the dragon leaves it's perching phase, if you weren't in the end fountain at the time (e.g if you were still running around shooting crystals), the dragon will charge you. To avoid getting yeeted in this situation, keep an eye on when the dragon's leaving its perching phase, pillar up 2-3 blocks, and then drop back down again as it gets closer to you. It will fly a little higher to try & hit you off your 2-3 block pillar, but then not have enough time to dip back down again when you've dropped off, and so you won't get hit at all! *assuming you're not doing an SSG speedrun strategy called "one shot strats", which is certainly not recommended for regular minecraft gameplay :D
I also suggest using bottom slabs for bridging so that you don't have to squeeze passed Endermen that can spawn on top slabs. That can be very scary if you don't have a lot of bridging experience.
One chorus fruit trick I've learned: if you are trying to ender pearl to a distant island, and it wound up being farther away than you thought- as the end pearl is falling to hit the smooth wall on the far side to my doom, I eat a chorus fruit that is ready in my off hand before it hits- that little eat teleport 'undoes' wherever the pearl was going to send me. whew.
for bedrock players. back in april, mojang decided to add a ticking area in the End dimension in 1.19.70. this means that the End island has permanently loaded chunks on realms and servers. so if you try to fight the dragon and you die, your stuff will despawn if you don't go back in five minutes. it is also very useful for a lot of farms that can be always loaded without a player
i never would have done this on my own if i hadnt been following along with you in this series. i just defeated the dragon on my own for the first time and ive been playing MC for many years
I discovered early on in Minecraft that I'm a much better terraformer than I am with structures. Getting there slowly though. My first terraform in Minecraft was hogging out the stronghold into a large area, lining it with black concrete, and turning it into a winding path through a dark oak forest into a clearing where you can jump to the end. Been able to make it even more moody since then with all the updates the past couple years.
Hey Pix, a bit of helpful infor about the coras fruit is it doesn't just teleport you to a random location it teleports you to a random solid block within a radius. Its very helpful if falling into the void or a high place to get you back on solid ground.
Best practice imo for future dragon fights if you do multiple in a world. Mine tunnels through the bottom middle of each tower for a place to hide. I also mine straight up to the top in the middle of each tower so you can safely tower up and kill the crystals. Also a nice way to get lots of obsidian 😁
also ive found that if you bridge using lower slabs, you wont have endermen spawning on your bridge, which can be helpful for not getting lanky men trying to nudge you off (learned after not knowing how the end gates worked and bridging across the void to the islands)
i've only been playing minecraft a few months, but i've been watching it for years. i thought fighting the ender dragon was gonna be easy seeing how others would easily avoid looking at endermen and I knew i was pretty decent with my bow. Turns out i am decent with my bow, but not so good at avoiding looking at endermen. i swear it's like they walk into your line of sight on purpose😭 i did use a jack-o-lantern but i hated not being able to see
Certainly killed my fair share of dragons, but I love watching other people do it. Every little thing you can pick up and put in your tool bag is helpful.
up to you pix if you intend to include this info in your end city raiding video (or just have it in your back pocket to make it easier to find cities in the future) to quote Feinberg (a wildly good minecraft speedrunner): "end city regions go by chunks - they can spawn in 10x10 chunk regions, with borders around each region that are 10 chunks wide, like a checkerboard grid. (most accurately: like a "buffalo check" pattern, where grey/black = no cities, then the other colour = yes cities) they spawn in chunks between 0 and 9 mod 20 - heres an example for what this means at chunk 0/y/0 an end city can spawn - as well as chunk 9/y/0, 0/y/9, 9/y/9, and anything in that large box (like 2/y/2, 4/y/7, 8/y/3, etc.) then there's an 10 chunk border until 20/y/20 - so end cities can't spawn at 12/y/13, 18/y/11, 10/y/10, 16/y/2, 4/y/11, etc. cities can't spawn anywhere where either chunk coordinate is between 10 and 19 mod 20. end cities can spawn in chunk numbers ranged 0-9, 20-29, 40-49, 60-69, etc. - and for negative coordinates they spawn in chunk numbers ranged -11 to -20, -31 to -40, -51 to -60, etc. THE BIGGEST TIP once you find one end city, fly in a STRAIGHT LINE (along the axis) in whatever direction you want to until you find another one. that makes sure that you're always in a "hot zone" for city spawns. but at the end of the day, cities are just really f***ing rare, so you can just get unlucky." (quote edited here & there for clarity) I spread this info here in order to save whatever poor soul befalls the fate I had on my pal's minecraft server a few years back, where I travelled for *hours* on foot, over ten thousand blocks out (10.5k I believe) before finding my first city ...and then not finding a city with an elytra for another 4 thousand blocks or so! I think it's pretty vital info, but I can understand if ya don't include it as it may not come across well summarised on video/may not fit with ya style/video plans/ odds on you've already recorded the video :D in that case, may this comment be a glimmer of wisdom filed away in someone's memory that they avoid eternal torment.
Already recorded the end city video, and I explain (although in much less detail) that travelling in a straight line is an effective way to find more cities. And it works very well for me! You’ll see more of that on Wednesday
I used to poke fun at UA-camrs for the heinous crime of not having a stack of glass bottles to fill during the dragon fight (I am a stickler for grabbing 64 dragons breath in order to brew those OP lingering potions) , but I figured that you would mention the dragon respawn mechanic. Rarely disappointed and always happy to watch a new video ❤️ Keep up the awesomeness for us old schoolers
Early Access!!! Let's go🤩🤩 Also, you are showing a lot of restraint by not destroying that silverfish spawner. Especially knowing how much you like silverfish.
My good friend made the most awesome farm out of the silverfish spawner! And put the end portal in a small room next to it. It makes so much xp! I love it!
Great fight! You took care of her a lot better than I did. Your real skills on the bow shots show up. Amazing shot up into the cage on the crystal, too. Didn't watch this immediately as I am following along on this seed (on hard.) I didn't want spoilers and I was just about ready to jump into the portal when you posted. Epic, epic luck on the city! Perhaps you can get the 'You Need a Mint' and the 'Is it a Plane?' advancements when you re-spawn the dragon. But the fight when you can fly is so much easier. And just as fun!
It went well. I stood around in 5 buckets of water with a boat for safety, saved me from probably 7 endermen during the encounter. The arrows went through the corners of the iron cages easily. I stuck to attacking the feet instead of the head to avoid knockback since I didn't have feather fall, and I needed better water management if I wanted to land in it. Easy fight after watching this though, thanks!
I’ve been looking for a UA-cam for weeks that’s not crazy cringey, loud etc and your videos are ace. Can’t wait for the next episode. I usually play most updates but you’ve taught me some bits along the way
I wouldn't recommend slabs at all for bridging, particularly on a multiplayer server. It might be fixed for now, but there's been plenty of issues in the past where the server "disagrees" on how you placed a slab causing you to fall through the block. Another option is to use some of the wood to craft a double chest and dump your gear in there before bridging. If you die, the most you lose is some bridging supplies, and you don't have to worry about beating the despawn timer to get your gear.
it would be really cool to make a Fallout style hazard wasteland type of farm in the end centered around growing chorus fruit and ranching shulkers or something
I'm happy to see you posted it early, so I'm not one of the last ones to see it for a change! I was surprised you didn't take a slow falling potion or have one ready on the hotbar. Obviously you didn't need it though.
Hey Pixl, all Ican say is... so close yet so far... was hoping for a quick raid but wil have to wait for the next eps. Thanks Pixl for this eps and see you in the next one. Cheers
I am loving season 3. Would you be averse to doing an episode on Minecraft launchers, resource packs, data packs, client side mods, and other customizations? Your tutorial talents are amazing and I have friends that always ask me for help with these things and would love a resource I could share with them.
I've been playing Minecraft since 2010. And I am such a coward that I never killed the dragon by myself. Until now! I managed to live and didn't need to cheat or resort to getting others to do it. Those potions of slow falling were invaluable. And before I get any negative Nelly's calling me a noob, I know. I know I am cowardly. But between my severe anxiety and blindness it is a real challenge.
Much respect to you, Pix. Entertaining & informative as ever! One little question (which may have been dealt with in other comments I may not have read) : When you describe how to pick up the dragon egg, it kind of assumes knowledge of that special MC dynamic sometimes referred to as "the torch trick". For example, any item which is affected by gravity (like gravel), will be automatically converted into an entity which the player can pick up, if it falls onto a torch... have I got that right. In any case, I'm pretty sure it is this dynamic which enables the player to pick up the dragon egg after the fight. Apologies if you had explained this elsewhere. And I look forward to watching your ongoing adventures in MC! :-)
hey pix ! at last happy to have reached late game stuff in survival guide ... waiting for some impressive project.. As an unrelated request/note: will you start a new 1.20 skyblock series , a lot has come to skyblock lately and new mechanics and stuff and personally your skyblock series ( both 1.15 and 1.16 ) were arguably the best skyblock series I've come across.!
careful with water bucketing when holding a shield! I was digging a hole for a beacon the other week, jumped down with the intention of landing in my own water, found that my shield activated instead of deploying the water... splat.
Hi pixlriffs Long time subscriber here. I enjoy your videos a lot and watch them often. Hope you are doing well. Since busy with work unable to watch them as often anymore. Keep up the great work
On Bedrock you can see the outer islands from the main island, only because Bedrock has a max render distance of 96 chunks (PC only). You might be able to do the same with the Bobby mod on Java.
I started playing Minecraft before granite came out. Minecraft has been my favorite game for a long time by now, but I rarely ever have the motivation to make it to the End :/
This fight is so much harder to do in bedrock. The slower health regen. Can't shoot the crystals through the corners of cages either. Endermen will teleport out of boats and minecarts when attacked in bedrock too 😅 Love the content tho pix. Been watching since season 1. ❤️
Question, i just started playing minecraft yesterday. I been playing with the settings and everything. I started playing a star wars version (survival, peaceful) and found a portal thing and it went to the ender dragon. I didn’t have anything but a bone and killed it. But i fell right into the other portal. Was i able to collect anything if I didn’t fall into the last portal? (On the switch.)
Question. If you mine down those towers so there is nothing left of them, and then respawn the dragon, will the crystals just float in mid air or spawn on the ground?
@@Pixlriffs Okay thank you. I have been a VERY casual minecraft player for years. Only about 5 years ago did I come to realise that there is actually a point to the game in killing the Ender Dragon and to this date, still have never accomplished it. I love your play though videos and guides and your season 1 was when I first learned about the objective to the game even though I have been playing since 2012. Busy on a world now and slowly getting things done. Cant do half the stuff you do as farms dont seem that easy to make for iron and such but its cool, I enjoy the challenge and go at a much slower pace.
Once when i went to the end something glitcher qnd there was almost a dozen dragons there! So dissapointed they djdnt drop eggs. Not sure why that happened. This was before the end islands or anything. I was terrified.
Last time I fought the dragon she actually yeeted me INTO the void. I couldn't do anything. Maybe if i i had taken a slow falling potion with me but dang, what an embarrassing and slow painful death lol
May want to note that using a Trident, even with loyalty, in the end can be dangerous! It won't return if it goes in the void. Also I'm glad when the hermits went looking for saturation food they didn't eat coras fruit in the decked out lobby, that would be bad.
Nailed 'em 👍 I googled around too, I see instances of people reporting a bug on bedrock, but this was on java. Also interesting, only one health bar for the dragon was present. The first one I killed was not linked to the health bar, did not create the exit portal or the gateway portal, didn't give that much xp, but did grant the advancement. Then the second one was linked to the health bar and did open the portals and gave the expected xp. Quite weird, and not what I had planned for, but with enough running and plenty of food it went fairly well.
If you want something really passive for the background, you can make a big kelp farm and route the kelp through a smoker array. You'll have to periodically compact the help into fuel blocks to feed back in. To get the XP, put levers next to the smoker output hoppers. Switch the levers on, and the cooked kelp will stay in the smoker, where you can pick it up, and get all the XP from the previously cooked kelp. Then switch the levers off to let the kelp through.
I promise I didn’t post this early just to throw off all the “babe wake up” comments 😂
Just goofed up when I scheduled the video and didn’t set the time right. Enjoy the 11 hours of early access!
First
Babe, don't go to sleep-
Thankyou!!!!! I have been wondering how to open all the outer end portals for a while.
I’m so glad you goofed up bc I had a very stressful day at work and you made my night 10 times better
Love it
Quick comment before I finish watching. Some XP orbs will teleport through the return portal to your original spawn point (not the temporary spawn you set with a bed). Be sure to visit your original spawn soon after returning to the overworld to claim the rest of your XP orbs.
And sometimes you have to go there, restart your game and then you'll get it.
That’s interesting but impossible for me because my reset spawn is 12 thousand blocks away from starting spawn lmao
If you’re falling into the void you can eat some of the teleporting fruit and it will put you back on the island. Keep that on the hot bar.
By the time u realise switch and eat ur out of the 8 block range

Just a side note on the Chorus Fruit, when you smelt them, you can also use the Popped Chorus Fruit and Blaze Rods to craft End Rods (lighting).

Here we go, season 3, 3rd Dragon fight! Even though i consider myself a minecraft veteran, i still like seeing how to prepare for the fight!
Yeah, same here!
Especially since new items can bring new strategies (like slow falling and scaffolding)
3rd first dragon fight, there have been at least 20 in the first season.
Sunday night survival guide video , I’m so down ! Thanks Pix!
for bedrock players. back in april, mojang decided to add a ticking area in the End dimension in 1.19.70. this means that the End island has permanently loaded chunks on realms and servers. so if you try to fight the dragon and you die, your stuff will despawn if you don't go back in five minutes. it is also very useful for a lot of farms that can be always loaded without a player

Hey Pix, a bit of helpful infor about the coras fruit is it doesn't just teleport you to a random location it teleports you to a random solid block within a radius. Its very helpful if falling into the void or a high place to get you back on solid ground.

up to you pix if you intend to include this info in your end city raiding video (or just have it in your back pocket to make it easier to find cities in the future)

"end city regions go by chunks - they can spawn in 10x10 chunk regions, with borders around each region that are 10 chunks wide, like a checkerboard grid. (most accurately: like a "buffalo check" pattern, where grey/black = no cities, then the other colour = yes cities)
they spawn in chunks between 0 and 9 mod 20 - heres an example for what this means
at chunk 0/y/0 an end city can spawn - as well as chunk 9/y/0, 0/y/9, 9/y/9, and anything in that large box (like 2/y/2, 4/y/7, 8/y/3, etc.) then there's an 10 chunk border until 20/y/20 - so end cities can't spawn at 12/y/13, 18/y/11, 10/y/10, 16/y/2, 4/y/11, etc. cities can't spawn anywhere where either chunk coordinate is between 10 and 19 mod 20.
end cities can spawn in chunk numbers ranged 0-9, 20-29, 40-49, 60-69, etc. - and for negative coordinates they spawn in chunk numbers ranged -11 to -20, -31 to -40, -51 to -60, etc.
THE BIGGEST TIP
once you find one end city, fly in a STRAIGHT LINE (along the axis) in whatever direction you want to until you find another one. that makes sure that you're always in a "hot zone" for city spawns. but at the end of the day, cities are just really f***ing rare, so you can just get unlucky."

Slow falling potion is the way
hey pix ! at last happy to have reached late game stuff in survival guide ... waiting for some impressive project..
I was digging a hole for a beacon the other week, jumped down with the intention of landing in my own water, found that my shield activated instead of deploying the water... splat.
Killer thumbnail, Pix
Excellent as always! Scaffold, like ladders but better, why didn't I think of that?
Hi pixlriffs
Long time subscriber here.
I enjoy your videos a lot and watch them often.
Hope you are doing well.
Since busy with work unable to watch them as often anymore.
Keep up the great work
Man, I got screwed on my End portal. It was just a platform in the open. I wasn't prepared to pillar to the island. LOL!!!
Pix: You’re only supposed to have one dragon egg per world. *looks at Grian and Doc*
On Bedrock you can see the outer islands from the main island, only because Bedrock has a max render distance of 96 chunks (PC only). You might be able to do the same with the Bobby mod on Java.
Damn thats impressive
I started playing Minecraft before granite came out. Minecraft has been my favorite game for a long time by now, but I rarely ever have the motivation to make it to the End :/
you forgot to mention that hitting the dragon's head does four times as much damage as hitting it somewhere else
This fight is so much harder to do in bedrock.
The slower health regen.
Can't shoot the crystals through the corners of cages either.
Endermen will teleport out of boats and minecarts when attacked in bedrock too 😅
Love the content tho pix. Been watching since season 1. ❤️
The dragon fight in BE is a whole different story😂
Hello Pixles!! Great video I love the content! Thank you!!
Quick, someone wake up Pix and tell his his vid dropped at 12:00am not 12:00pm UK time lol
Great video man!
Great episode.
What's the best direction to find the cities?
Is using a flying machine the coolest (and loudest) way to find one?
“69 levels. Very nice”
A man of culture I see.
Looking for the hermitcraft recap and got the survival guide, not going to complain I love watching the survival episodes as I use then on my worlds
Enderman who got into frame at the end was like "who is this guy talking to?"
"You can only have one egg per world..." he says, before hastily adding "Unless you're Docm77."
Curious why you didn’t bring an unbreaking 3, mending book with you?
Thanks for posting! Love the series!
I didn’t want to over-prepare for this first trip to the End. I mention that briefly in the next episode!
whoa I’m glad I stayed up playing minecraft😂😂
Correction: feet height. Explosions damage your feet which is why low ground is so op in crystalpvp for example
How come this video is early? I know it is cause i ussually eat lunch when you put the vids up, and now im putting off sleeping and its 2 am
it released at 12AM instead of PM uk time
Question.
If you mine down those towers so there is nothing left of them, and then respawn the dragon, will the crystals just float in mid air or spawn on the ground?
The entire obsidian tower respawns, with the crystals in the same position.
Eyyyy!! unexpected but I'm not complaining ❤😊
Ahhh, Here we go, the Survival Guide episode I've been waiting for. De puta madre 👏
What? Bridging with TOP slabs. Recipe for a visit to the void.
Your dragon 🤡 our dragon 🗿💀
Episode timings changed?
Or he accidentally uploaded it early
Finally the end
May want to note that using a Trident, even with loyalty, in the end can be dangerous! It won't return if it goes in the void.
Also I'm glad when the hermits went looking for saturation food they didn't eat coras fruit in the decked out lobby, that would be bad.
He did mention this in the previous episode.
It's spooky season, my dudes.
a Sunday upload? ooohh
Well then, I just entered the end in my world, and I've got 2 dragons! Wish me luck! 🤣
Nailed 'em 👍
I googled around too, I see instances of people reporting a bug on bedrock, but this was on java.
Oh the cliffhanger
Pix, is there a way on making an xp farm without using mob spawners?
Search for Enderman XP farm, or Gnembon's flushing mob farm. You can also get a ton of XP from villager trading.
Then switch the levers off to let the kelp through.
...No comments on you punching your house at the beginning of the video? I couldn't help noticing the particles. :-)
Australians: Yes finally
