I know that this is in style now and your work is stellar. But I still like the old stained wood look a lot better. I guess that makes ME old and in need of refinishing.
It would all depend on your floor, walls and the other furniture in the room. With the trendy grey floors, much of the older finishes used that bright orange shellac and make everything look entirely too orange. She could have gone very dark brown with this, but avoided too much orange and it would look great with those grey floors and walls. Go with what you like. This used to be called "pickled" or "blonde" and not a new thing.

I agree about comments. I have some antiques that took a long time to decide about painting. I finally did paint a few pieces & they look so much better. It's funny how color goes in and out of style. My Mom and Dad had a gray oak bedroom set in the 1950's. I really like the gray and it's amazin how you "see" the color variation. Beautiful.
Trena, your work is fantastic. I know of so many people who throw away old furniture because it is no longer in trend. It is wonderful how you give these pieces another chance to be useful and beautiful.
I have never seen this done this well, and yes they are all matched. It looks like unusually pale white oak, not extremely grey, not white washed, not hazy. Thanks for the tip for getting the grey into the big grain. Seems like everybody bought the grey laminate floor a few years ago and most furniture looks neon orange against it. This finish harmonizes with that floor.
OMG!!!! I LOVE how you took orange mismatched pieces and made a whole suite out of them and that beautiful lolor. I have a lot of very old, over 100 year old oak English made furniture inherited from my Grandmother. We always refurbish by sanding down and varnishing with Polyeurothane as we live in a very dry climate and which works very well, however, I absolutely love what you have done with these Oak pieces. Thanks Trena, always a treat to watch you work.
Wonderful work that you've done with this "set". Glad you reminded the naysayers that kindness is important, and that diversity in our tastes should be appreciated more. How very boring it would be if we ALL had the exact same tastes in EVERYTHING. Bravo for speaking up. 💚😊💚

No matter how many times I go to School here I am still most likely going to Fail the final exam, but at least I will try to get better after each class. And the Teacher is sooo good at showing us how it should be done to get the best result.
Very informative for color matching and bleaching! Wood is such a wonderful and forgiving medium. Even with a cooler hue it is still warm and inviting. I love it! I'm sure your client will be thrilled with your work, it's beautiful!
Whilst the bleached wood look is not my taste (at all!), your work is always incredible and I am in awe of your masterful artistry and the end results. After reading through the comments, it seems that there is a lot more than the furniture to this one too so am adding it to my watch later for when I have the time to enjoy it in full! TFS 😺
You've done such a good job with this set. Very stunning, I love the knobs with this stain. I love how you layered each piece to achieve the look the customer wanted. Very beautiful.
The dining table has been totally transformed from an old fashioned piece to something fresh and contemporary. For me, I don't mind if the pieces don't perfectly match. As you said, wood has variations in colour and grain, that's the beauty of it. As long as the tonal value are similar it'll work.
I'm stunned at the level of care and attention to detail you pay to eAch piece you do. Pay the mean people no heed. You make your customers happy and do every piece with heart. This job was next level Talent.
Trena, Marie here. I'm from the Boston area. Amazing show! I have learned so much. My late husband was a furniture maker, he would have loved your show. S Bent and Nichols and Stone were great furniture manufacturers in central Mass. Sadly with overseas junk furniture Nichols and Stone had to close their doors after 200 years in business.
Oh what an enormous amount of work, testing and just hard work. The furniture looks spectacular. You are a miracle worker! And I'm happy you just delete those nasty comments, they're not worth reading.
I love your videos and have wondered what the finish stripper you use is as it seems to deal with everything so well!? I have learned so much by watching you work - thank you!
Absolutely beautiful pieces of furniture and what an amazing job you did on them 🤗 . I almost wish we could see it in place it’s new home ☺️. Just gorgeous.
In the 1960s, my father was a dentist at a prison and he had the prisoner's woodshop make him a walnut tall chest of drawers in which the interior wood of the drawers are also wood. Due to an awful fad called "antiquing," in which you painted the surface, it was painted first a blue and then later a white. My project is to restore it back to original walnut.
sincerely wishing you luck and patience; I don't mind a tone of color in wood grain like Trena did here, even paint on a scabbed and trashed piece, but getting painted, or even lacquered rare woods to blank canvas is so labor intensive - and worth it
A mammoth project for you with incredible results! I haven't seen a woodworking professional colour match several pieces of furniture in this way before, so I learned a great deal. Your customer will be thrilled! Thanks again Trena.
Yay! Another video! It made me smile when you popped up at the opening, and again when you were painting the toe nails. 😆 I always learn something new about refinishing and restoration from every video. Thanks! 😎👍🏻

At the risk of sounding cliche, haters are going to hate. It makes them feel powerful. Sad thing is, many times, that's all they have. Sad little people who still live in the bedroom that they grew up in. You are a talented craftsperson; your priorities are correct, and your customers are happy. If you let the little people bother you, they win: don't let them. 😁👍
Thanks for the reminder on kindness. I always appreciate that your customers are the priority. Also, though it might not be our style, they know what they want in their own home. Thanks for walking us through this as it is a common dilemma to make several pieces work together.
What an epic job. Sometimes I look at a customer's request and take a deep breath and then look out in the parking lot and remember that Nissan Motors Financing wants me to pay for my truck and the county tax assessor really likes my house and wants a ton of property taxes, so it doesn't matter what my customer wants or what I think of it. Do the best job you can and get those referrals. I still would have left the claws pink though.😜
I agree with you. It is amazing how many people think they know what is right. They would be shocked what I love in furniture. And I would trust you to be able to do it perfectly. I’m sorry you have to put up with rude comments. Thank you for showing us all these techniques. We can really appreciate how much work it takes to get a furniture perfect.

No matter how many times I go to School here I am still most likely going to Fail the final exam, but at least I will try to get better after each class. And the Teacher is sooo good at showing us how it should be done to get the best result.
Trena, you are a color magician! The years of experience and the willingness to experiment to match colors is unbelievable.
You did a spectacular job for a difficult situation. Looks beautiful. Love the color.
Very informative for color matching and bleaching! Wood is such a wonderful and forgiving medium. Even with a cooler hue it is still warm and inviting. I love it! I'm sure your client will be thrilled with your work, it's beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW, what an effort. All looks really nice! I would have never imagined all the steps in staining to achieve such a result. Thanks Trena!
Love your work and always learn so much from you!
I'm stunned at the level of care and attention to detail you pay to eAch piece you do. Pay the mean people no heed. You make your customers happy and do every piece with heart. This job was next level Talent.
Wow, you are so talented. I love watching you bring wood to life. Thank you for sharing.❤️
Sorry to hear. Thankyou for sharing.
The nail polish 🤣🤣🤣
Oh what an enormous amount of work, testing and just hard work. The furniture looks spectacular. You are a miracle worker! And I'm happy you just delete those nasty comments, they're not worth reading.
I love your videos and have wondered what the finish stripper you use is as it seems to deal with everything so well!? I have learned so much by watching you work - thank you!
Swing
Thank you! I'm in the UK, so will do some research to see if I can get it x
I also use Swing. It is a wonderful product. I believe it is made by the same people who make Circa.
Absolutely beautiful pieces of furniture and what an amazing job you did on them 🤗 . I almost wish we could see it in place it’s new home ☺️. Just gorgeous.
You are a master! ❤
A lot of work but an awesome end result. I hope your clients appreciate how hard they work to get that perfect look they want.
Thanks again Trena.
still think you should have kept the nail polish. Beautiful job
Made me 😂 laugh.
Lol
Well done. The customer is always right. Unless they are wrong. But they are still right.
Yay! Another video! It made me smile when you popped up at the opening, and again when you were painting the toe nails. 😆 I always learn something new about refinishing and restoration from every video. Thanks! 😎👍🏻
😊 thank you
I am so grateful that I can come to "John's Furniture Repair" channel to "spin down". Many thanks from a USAF Veteran! 😎👍🏻
You are a true professional Trena. The best.
Wow, thank you
My goodness, you work so hard. You are very gifted. And your work is beautiful .I hope who ever you are doing this work for so appreciates you, and realises the work you have put into it. Truly beautiful. 💚💛🇮🇪💐.
Thank you so much!
Thankyou!
Love it!
You work so hard to do such a wonderful job for your customers. I love watching what you do and what it takes to get the job done well. Thanks for the video!
I had to watch this twice to grasp some of the technology you used to get to the finished look. You are amazing, I learn so much from you!! Thank you
Oh thank you!
I love the color these turned out. Great job! I’ve learned so much about refinishing from you. Of course I’ll never get to your level but I love watching. I just refinish for fun, I’m 65 so it’s just a hobby.
That’s awesome. Glad your having fun🥰
I almost missed this one because I thought bleached oak was not to my taste. I was wrong. Your videos are always worthy.
You work magic with just a touch of humor - the nail polish made me laugh out loud.
thanks for watching
Great Job ! As usual, Keep up the good work
Thanks again!
You have done a fantastic job on those pieces. Of course, all the videos I have watched so far have amazed me with what you do to make your customers' stuff beautiful. Those of you who trash others should make sure you are perfect first.
This set is lovely, a thousand times better that the mismatched and dated orange oak. Great job!
Another work of beauty,,,il admit it when this started I was thinking no way will it all work together with so many differences from new to old to styles but you did it & it looks wonderful ,,your talent never ends I really enjoyed this video 🙂
I never thought about matching the colors of different pieces of furniture, such a great result!
Keep doing what you are doing Trena. Ignore the background noise. Your work and videos are amazing. Barbara and Ian
