I never have restored a piece of furniture and at 78 I never will. And yet watching your excellent work is a joy. Another beautiful restoration done.
Wow, thank you!
Not only am I impressed by the work you do, I'm also amazed at how you're able to maintain such a beautiful manicure while doing it; especially since you don't always wear gloves.
Acrylic nails
👍👏🌹
Thank you! Cheers!
Yeah it got my attention too😅
Exactly my thoughts too
It went from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. The sum being greater than the individual components. I especially like this video. The background music in particular. So appropriate for the thoughtfulness put into this restoration.
Thankyou!
Happy Mother’s Day to the mother of furniture restoration UA-cam!
Oh thank you!
You give that old broken down chair a new lease on life and another hundred years service. Great job as usual
What I love about your channel is that you employ some well-used, well-worn tools, containers, and surfaces to create some very clean, lovely pieces. Not a lot of flash; simply outstanding craft, technique, talent and attention to detail.
Thank you very much!
Trena, you took a chair with “Heinz 57 varieties of wood” and worked your meticulous magic once again. Absolutely stunning!
Same thought exactly, Heinz 57 ,,,
Thank you! Cheers!
How can you work with those nails
Love the manicure!
I can only imagine how loved this chair has been through the years that it has been repaired, and repaired. So happy you could return it to like-new condition so it can continue to be a cherished item.
Yes! Thank you!
The use of lacquer toner is the best thing I have learned so far watching your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
Ahhh the sweet gratification of turning a seemingly hopeless piece in to a thing of beauty. Nice job!
Yes! Thank you!
Someone made this chair with what they had, they did wonderful work and you have honored it. I love watching you work.
Thankuou.
Trena, this is your golden formula for videos! Love the stripping and serious repair along with a what not to do without saying it. So perfect videography balance!
Thankyou!
There again you have taken an ugly duckling and made it a beautiful swan. Great job Trena! Cheers ❤
Thankyou!
Trena, thank you for sharing another lovely example of your skill and artistry!!!
I'm guessing this chair was made in the 1930's. I have discovered through my years that a lot of furniture crafted in the 1930's was made from whatever assorted wood parts and pices that were on hand, and then faux grain and various colored stains tied it all together and made it look like a piece of finer furniture. "Whatever works" is emplyed more often when times are hard, finances are limited, and resources are scarce. Furniture pieces like this chair served long and hid their secrets well. Their longevity is a testament to the original craftsmanship, regardless of the assorted materials utilized for construction. The additions of oversized screws and nails add to the chairs apparent refusal to give up.
Vintage treasures like this once again lovely chair make me wish furniture could talk and tell us its story. ❤
🥰
Fantastic to see Jon’s daughter following in his footsteps , restoring furniture properly and learning from a master. So many crap
Videos of ladies on utube plastering furniture In Paint and calling it restored.
They should watch some of your fathers videos and take note !
Fantastic. Well done.
🥰
Happy Mother’s Day! Was about to get up for breakfast but will watch this first!
Hope you enjoy
Everything you do is a piece of art! Love the before and after. 😊❤️
Thank you so much! 😊❤️
Beautiful transformation of that chair. Like night and day. And "Happy Mother's Day!"
Thank you!
Trina
You are such a superb colourist- you have my complete admiration.
Happy Mother’s Day to you! I’m lounging on the sofa watching you work your magic as my kids and partner make me brunch - heavenly!
Wonderful! Happy Mother’s Day to you too.
This video reminds me of the time when I was young, in the 70’s, when we smeared paint on everything to make it look ‘modern’.
Absolutely gorgeous. I love that you love returning these pieces to new again. There is some beautiful wood and history in that chair and your mother's upholstery is just fabulous. Love that your customers also want to keep old alive and make it new. Just beautiful Trena! I hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day!
Blessings
Thankyou you too hun!
Trena: good looking chair, very functional. It’s amazing to me how you can stain different woods and get them to look like they are the same. I guess that says professional refinisher! Great job as usual. Carol from California
Thanks Carol
As usual, your results are far better than I thought possible.
I like the "it's no big deal" comment mid-video. Concrete guy / mason / you tuber Mike Haduck shares your practical approach but staying with traditional construction methods. It's one of his tag lines. I appreciate you both
Thanks for that. I love Mike’s channel.
I’m going to remember to scrape as much as possible before stripping in the future! Great tip.
😉
I’m impressed that you can do such great work with those nails! I had some acrylic nails done for the first time two weeks ago and I can’t function properly 😂 I can’t grab anything, use my phone or type. It’s ridiculous
lol
That chair is absolutely delightful…….👍🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Not only is the work tremendous as always, but your choice of music was wonderful.
Thank you very much!
You always have the best music!🎵
@8:36 I just learned why refinishers spend so much time scraping instead of going right to the chemical remover. One more thing you've taught me this weekend :) [Edit] and that chair is truly reborn!
Thankyou!
I have to say, this is one of the best restorations I have ever seen you (or anyone) do! I love the color, the beautiful elm grain peaking through, and the elegant simplicity of the whole piece. Absolutely stunning!
Wow, thank you!
Scrap wood chair, hence the tiger stripped finish. Great job pulling it all together.
Lol ! Your nails compliment the green of the chair! My best to you , and beautiful shop dog !❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Happy mother's day.❤ As usual what a great job full of very useful teaching and comments. Many thanks.😊
So nice of you
It is such a pleasure watching you work your magic! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
If it doesn't work out for with your dad I will happily adopt you! I would be so proud if my daughter could do this kind of work.
lol always good to know I have options. 😂😂🥰
Hi Trena, if I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it was the same chair, brilliant as always thanks to you and your mum, cheers!!🥰😘💕👍👍👍
Trena, I love how much you love doing a good job, a proper, respectful job.
You can see/feel the wood breathe again. What a relief! Beautiful.

Nice job- you gave the "old lady" new life!
That you see the beauty within the beast, is awe inspiring.
Amazing transformation! And I know you have mentioned using dowels vs plugs before, but I think this is the first time you have explained why. It makes perfect sense now. Thank you.
From Frankenchair to a beautiful piece of furniture. Love the color/finish, Very beautiful. Great job young lady!
Thank you so much!
I needed the 120 sand paper hint!! Thankyou it was very soothing watching you.
You are so welcome!
That last toner sure made the difference! Great job!
Thanks 👍
Can't believe they painted that beautiful chair. Now it's beautiful again. Love it.
Happy Mother’s Day Trena!
Thanks so much
Beautiful chair Beautiful work thanks Trena
Zo leuk jou bezig te zien, de methode noemen wij: Hatsiekadee! Bravo
Thankyou
I kinda liked it even without the toning! Beautiful job and so nice to see the chair brought back to life rather than thrown on the burn pile.
Trena it's absolutely beautiful. Happy mother's day. I love the choice of the music for your video. Your amazing!!!
Thank you so much
It’s wonderful you can see the beauty of furniture underneath all that paint 😊
Not to nitpick but using screws rather than glue to secure pieces of wood together is the opposite of primitive. It is an industrial means to the same end. I completely agree with you that using screws is far less elegant and definitely less artisan but not primitive.
Your result using skillfully applied hardware was beautiful!
Ya. Just usually more hidden
Thanks Ms John and family !!!
That chair looks gorgeous ❤
Beautiful job with the chair 🪑 ❤
Happy Mothers’ Day, Trena! ❤
Wow! you took a chair that looked like it was ready to be tossed out, to a chair that will sit proud in any home. Beautiful and sturdy now. You always impress with the final reveal. I enjoy the process and your calm voice in the videos. can't wait to see what you are up to next. Until then be happy and healthy.
Thankyou!
Happy Mothers Day, Treena! Fantastic job on the chair!
Thanks so much
I watched the intro and thought, here is another stroll in the park for Trena. As always it looks great, and your Mom did a nice job on the seat.
Thanks so much
From a bridge job or fire wood to a real beauty 😊
Wow! What an amazing restoration! To find such a pretty piece beneath that hideous paint job was wonderful. Thanks for sharing this, Trena.
Glad you enjoyed it
How in the world do you keep those gorgeous nails with a job like this! ❤
Pure perfection! ❤❤
Magnifique! Talent will always produce results that seem impossible and you make it look simple. Just wonderful.
Thank you very much!
Happy Sunday Trena thank you for sharing the You you are!
You are so welcome
@@johnsfurniturerepair forgot Happy Mother’s Day. Oh yeah and sometimes I say to you during your videos “Trena for President” am aware this is impossible lol.
I hold a deep respect from watching you handle many responsibilities with grace. Ty for being so real, the world needs more real people. 👍
I cannot understand why somebody would paint over a lovely wood grained chair as you have revealed. That is the appeal of furniture, the personality of the wood grain imo. And your attention to detail esp. with small repairs is much appreciated. I like that this piece is a hybrid of contrasting woods.
WHAT? That can't be right? I guess it is, I watched the entire refinish! Trena took a piece of trash and made it beautiful! My head hurts from the Magical Furniture Transformation.
Looks great ,Happy Mothers Day
Thanks so much
That was fun. Thanks. Looks worlds better - even elegant.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Turned it back into a handsome chair to be enjoyed for many more years. Great job as usual.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great transformation. Beautiful piece. Nice music as well.
Thank you! Cheers!
Another beautiful restoration, Trina. It turned out gorgeous as always. I found it hard to believe that they even painted the leather seat! Now it looks like it was supposed to be. I also love the music you chose - it is really pretty and relaxing to listen too. Until the next video, have a great day 😘💕🇦🇺.
Thank you so much!
Great job!
Another job well done Trine 😊
You’re my absolute favourite among furnish repair people on the Tube.
Wow, thank you!
I like that you truly restore.
What an incredible transformation. You sure know your wood. A lovely looking chair.
Thank you very much!
You are truly a magician it looked so ugly before and almost regal finished. I think that tint brought it together. Well done young lady thank you for sharing.👍
Hi Trenna, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year! As always, God bless you and your family from your long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲
Merry Christmas to you too! Thank you for the well wishes, I appreciate you.
As we say over here in the UK, "Job's a goodun". Lovely work, and great toning work. Really married the woods well.
Many thanks!
What a beautiful result! Just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing what you do with us, Trena. I see old furniture now and wonder how it would look if it were refurbished.
You are so welcome
This video comes in handy because I’ve inherited two Biedermeier chairs with as far as I know at least 4 layers of paint on them (cause I know them all my life)
I know the original veneer is taken off ages ago because it was not salvageable my mother told me. I wonder what the original wood looks like. If they turn out half as good as yours I’d be over the moon. 🍀🍀🍀🍀
I never cease to feel real joy when you take a trashy piece and bring back its beauty. What a lovely result!
🥰
Very pretty little chair! I like it a lot!❤
Magnificent! 🤩
That is a classic looking chair now. Beautiful!
I am currently staining a door for a friend and have the opposite problem from your glue run. Some stain got on the back of the door unbeknownst to me and dried for two weeks before I flipped the door to stain that side. It dawned on me this morning that I need to do the same thing you did to fix it. I've learned a lot watching you and Tom Johnson these last few years. Thx.
😉
man that chair changed. Nice work.
Thanks!
I can't believe it is the same chair, the toner really gives it a great color match. Realy love the seat cushion.
Beautiful chair ❤
Excellent transformation! I wouldn't have looked twice at that painted ugly chair but I see with some time, patience and work you can make it look brand new! Bravo!
Wow, from ‘garage grunge’ to glamorous….stunning transformation ! Thanks for sharing !
You are so welcome!
WOW! What a fantastic job at restoration.
I mean DAMN. What a difference. That's what talent, knowledge, and perseverance get you. A gorgeous chair.
Thankyou!
Beautiful as always Trena
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful work, as always, Trenna.
Thanks again!
Thank you for rescuing this poor painted chair. I really like how you appreciate natural wood, even on less than priceless heirlooms.😄
Another absolutely perfect job - as expected. Your Mom's upholstery is nice too.
If one thing, this video shows that every wood is beautiful, and that all different species creates a beautiful chair together. Food for thoughts! Great work as always!
Well said!
