I am so happy that you said you are a resident in PA because I’m in PA and I drive in Philly and the roads killed my car! I was going to buy a whole new front strut and sway bar kit! But I’ll just get the sway bars now that I’ve seen this!! THANK YOUUUU!!!!
Another great video, short, to the point. Thank you.
Thanks again Mike 🙂
Lovely yard space and view my guy so green noise @1:42 @2:00 @2:07 sounds I hear in my car… thanks bro!
Thanks man! 😊 Wife likes to garden 😉
Will this sound like a flat tire and make it feel like your suspension might be bottoming out
What size is the Allen key ?
Does it matter whether the allen wrench is the one turned or the nut? Are they clockwise, counter clockwise or opposite?
No it does not matter. Just make sure you have your righty tighties and Lefty loosies oriented properly. If you are loosening the nut then you would want to turn counterclockwise, if you are turning the Allen then it's clockwise.
Hey I have a question. I am about to replace these on my Mazda 6 but I wanna know if it will restore the handling that my car once had. Because as it stands when cornering the car jumps up and down a little on top of clunking....I got new ball joints and bushings so I know it's not those.
Hey Jay, yeah I hope that does the trick. There may be other reasons for that like worn shock absorbers and strut mounts but being you've replaced bushings and ball joints, after you do the end links the car should definitely feel better if that was the culprit. Keep me posted: message back once you do them.
What's the torque spec? That's important.
I have a very similar sound coming from my Mazda 5. I hear it while not moving and turning the wheel also. Any advice on what it could be?
It could the be sway bar link ends but certainly could be other things too. Have somebody turn the wheel back and forth while you listen outside to see where the noise is coming from and then take the wheel off and inspect the area visually of where the noise is.
It ended up being a seized bearing in the strut mount assembly. The bearing wouldn't spin so it was causing the entire spring to turn.
@@mustafaahsan1999 ahh I see. The bearings are at the top of the strut while the end links are on the bottom so this is a perfect case where it is best to have a helper turning the wheels back and forth while looking and listening on the outside to see where the noise is coming from.
Thank you for the update Mustafa! Cheers for figuring it out!
Need to do these on the Eclipse! I cut them off when I did the coilovers cause the bolts were so locked up 🙃
I didn't show it on camera, perhaps I should have, but it was a pain taking the old ones off! Had to bust out the metal grinder!
@@radieyevanov Would a breaker bar have helped. I did see on another video where a breaker bar recommended. But your video provides so much more explanation.
@@Al_Z.Heimer yes a breaker bar can definitely help particularly with initially loosening the nut however if the threads after loosening it are rusted and you can't get the nut off then the metal grinder is needed
Bro, I needed time stamp 5:50 and 5:51 to give me more in depth analysis. I’ve been trying to deal with this sensor on that top bolt for hours with no leverage. 😅
Have the same issue I'm gonna try this. Problem is they're so rusted on and someone tried to help me with this and they might've threaded the Allen key slot.. and the driver side is so rusted that the Allen key hole is filled with rust.. so gonna have to use an angle grinder for this job.
I've had to do that multiple times before too 😊
Hi I have a mazda 3 2017 with a thumping sort of sound from the rear passenger ( rear left ).. it only does it over wide and level speed bumps. Could it be the drop link ? It sounds like something moving in the trunk
Yes it very well could be
@@radieyevanov OK Thanks :) Before you changed the end link, did it make noises over speed bumps ?
@@Sim-ru6sr yes it did. There are bushings back there than could make noise as well
@@Sim-ru6sr how’d it go?
Nope. I changed my shocks, end links and top mount. Annoying noise still there@@GMoney-B
Replaced 4 in one year. It sucks. And something squeaks. Don't forget your rear sway links.
I have a Cx-3. My left side makes a clunking noise and when I press the brakes, it goes away. But when I drive it will make a noise. Could it be the sway bar? It makes noise when I go over bumps.
If it goes away when you brake it may be a brake component. Check the brake caliper for movement first. wiggle it and see if it moves very freely making a similar noise
@@radieyevanov I have had oil changes and inspection and both places say they don't see anything.
@@firechickcaitlyn hi there! Just wondering if you found the cause of that clunking noise?
@@ramertorres no I haven't. I even took it to Mazda because it needed an oil change and they couldn't find it for 2 hours. So, debating if it is even worth it. I may have someone else look at it though. I have a leak in my ac now. Haha so doing one thing at a time.
@@radieyevanov I have someone who is going to look at that part of my car next week. No one can figure out the problem, I just think they aren't looking hard enough. But this person sounds like he believes it's sway bars.
Do you know what sz the Allen wrench needs to be
Oh gosh...no I don't I'm sorry. I just grabbed whichever one fit from my tool set.
Would it be the same for a Mazda 6 ? Same year
Yup 🙃
is there a left and right anti roll bar or both sides are the same?
The anti roll bar (sway bar) is the bar that goes across the whole front. The sway bar end links are on right and left. The fronts on the mazda are interchangeable but not the rears. That is not true for all cars by the way, depends on the design/geometry!
@@radieyevanov thank you. I was referring to the end links. I have a mazda 3, 2016, hatchback, right hand drive. right end link just failed today and I was wondering if the front end links are interchangeable or there is a difference between them.
Thank you.
@@alexm2404 I figured that's what you meant Alex! Yeah fronts are interchangeable on the mazda. I made the mistake once on my Z thinking they are interchangeable and found out the hard way 😂
@@radieyevanov thank you. I've bought a pair of end links anyway (left and right). the car parts shop closest to me had only for the left side... and this got me thinking if they are interchangeable or not. could have purchased two for the same side... no problem, ordered online, will arrive soon and will try my best to fit them. any advice for someone doing it for the first time? thanks
@@alexm2404 as I mention in the video the taking off part can be hard if they are really rusted up. Putting in the new ones is easy. I had to use a metal grinder on mine on the one side to get it off. Good luck Alex. You got this! 👍🙃
Got the same noise, i think it came from trunk speakers, it sound on the left rear wheel im gonna check de sway bar
👍
@@radieyevanov any other idea? I upload a short video on my youtube channel maybe you can watch it pls
Glad my mechanic is replacing mine. such an annoying noise.
I thought it was my coilovers that we’re f up but it was the sway bar links
Glad you figured out where it was coming from!
I replaced the links but the noise is still there. Any body knows what it can be? On Mazda 3
Ball joints and strut mounts is where I would look to next if it's more of a clunking noise.
@@radieyevanov would the strut bar help? I just notice mine doesn’t have one on
@@radieyevanov ball joints don’t look worn out. The links were worn off
@@sheetmetal3149 mine does not have a strut bar either. I meant the strut mounts at the top of the strut, sometimes they make similar noises when they become worn
@@radieyevanov oh okay that helps I’ll check that out. Thanks man! 🙏
Ear the noise of the bad links, by smash it yourself, love this part.
