great update friend! I've heard that the differentials break their teeth very quickly at 2s and 3s...is it true? Do these improvements prevent such wear? greetings
Hey thanks for the video. Just wondering if I have to change the gear that contacts the ring gear with drive shaft as the spacing of new diff casing is tight 😬
Tested my diff upgrade today. Went well for 2 Lipos, now I have a rounded diff outdrive on the rear - the dogbone rounded the plastic up.. :-( I ordered FAW207 now and will replace them on front and rear. Not a good start for the Mad Van VE.... Did only some speed runs and some wheelies on very short grass.
@@metalrc Maybe I did something wrong with the dogbones during assembly, I don't know. Will tear it apart and will have a look. So long I will use the standard Diffs. I ordered the needed parts to have them as backup when I did the upgrade. Will grease them, the factory grease inside and outside the diff is a joke.
@@TR2NLG just receive my van rtr , and got the same as you the plastic cup on the front right wheel is rounded just used it for one battery , so did you find the reason why ?
Did the upgrade after finding this video. Only a couple of test runs so far. In hindsight would have added the metal driveshaft cups and hardened diff spur gears while I had them disassembled. Now am going to have to spill oil everywhere and use up the spare gaskets doing the next upgrades.
I wanted to do the steel out drives also but there was only one place I could find them at the time and all the parts were adding up $ so I opted to try the plastic ones and see how long they would last I am not looking forward to that mess myself . But sofar there good
@@metalrc Dude, fantastic!!! I came up with the same conclusion. As a side note, it was your tutorial which made me realize I didn't order one of the parts. Thanks for the vid!
Hi, I keep going through the 12t pinion input gear, have the Hobbywing Max 10 combo and have gone through 2 Input gears after only a few runs, keeps getting shredded so there is a bad sound coming from the gearbox, any ideas what can be done?
The only thing I have broken on the van is the ring gear in the diff not the pinion input so maybe it needs some shims . The ring gear is known for breaking off teeth
@@metalrc Nevermind I found what they are, what should I do with it? bring the input gear closer to the diff gear? I have a feeling it might be slightly moving inside which is why it wears out..
It's a shame the kyosho made such a nice truck but so cheap, it's bad enough you pay over 300.00 with tax. Not only the diffs made so cheap the outdrives are plastic, Come On Mannnn. That's why I will not buy one, 😰, on top of that go look at the prices of the parts. Cha Ching 💰, Kyosho come on Get real.
Hey man thanks for the video. Just wondering if I can use the original diff housings or if I must change to do upgrade?
@@jamesduncan2502 you must replace the vs001 diff case in order to do the diff upgrade
Why did you change the diff case? Stock ones are not valid to hold fluid?
Yes they need seals but for diff tuning you need 4 gears instead of 2 . 4 gears are more durable

Great vid, but I wish it wasn't time lapsed.

@@jamesduncan2502 I listed all the parts for the upgrade in the video you will need nothing more
How much of a differance did you notice ? And do you think the stock diff housing will fit the four gears with grease instead of fluid?

That’s no good I haven’t had any problems yet I even tried 3s lipo super fast !

@@metalrc just getting back into the hobby after almost 16 years away. what would I search for to find these gears?
where do you get those parts?
@@metalrc where do you get those metal parts? The hardened spur gears and the metal drive shafts?
Did you notice a difference in how it steers?
As in understeer, wider turn radius, etc...
Very little still turns nice and tight little more push on acceleration but the rear traction is much better
@@metalrc Thanks for the info
cool vid! big like! 👍👍👍
@Metal RC Those O rings, do I have to manipulate them on to that tiny ridge around the larger piece of the diff housing?
No don’t use the rubber seal use the paper gaskets like in the video the part number is listed in the video

what do you upgrate next?
Are the outdrives plastic? Have been hearing they are. Seems kinda strange.
that 4 gear diff looks the same as my ground pounder diff
Good info!!
Would you know,Do these at all, fit the brushed mad van? Great upgrade vid!!
Yes these fit the brushed version
What diff fluids would you recommend, and if possible links or names so I can find what you suggested.
Thanks!
I used 7000 front team associated diff fluid and 3000 rear team associated seemed to work great .
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .
