The Non-Canon Expert looks at Darth Vader's brutal mission that would eventually allow him to locate and confront a former Death Star engineer who he believed betrayed the Empire, explaining the events that led Vader to the former Imperial and how he would even be forced to confront his own elite squad of Imperial stormtroopers.
This is a Legends story for Darth Vader with information found within the 2013 Legends comic "Star Wars." I hope that you enjoy it!

Darth Vader is more brutal in Legends, as he should be.

Ensign Nanda had one hell of a time working with Vader. Really liked her and am sad that we did not get more stories with her. Vader honestly gets some amazing sidekicks in the comics, be they Legends or canon

One can understand her anger (imagine a survivor of Hiroshima meeting J. Robert Oppenheimer) but Leia made a very bad tactical decision on part of the Rebels . The smart thing to have done would have been to tell him "you want to do penance for the harm you've done., you want to balance for all those souls you've helped destroy. Then you come and work for us, help us end this war quickly so no more innocents must suffer.'

See, it's stuff like this that makes me think that Vader didn't deserve full redemption. He did terrible things when he was a Sith and suddenly he is a coooool guy because he kills the Emperor
Vader was a horrible person. Anakin wasn't. He did bad things for a good cause before Mustafar.
Vader and Anakin are often used by psychology students for Borderline Personality Disorder, because they act like completely different people.
Anakin was fun, cheerful, and loved his friends and family, willing to die for their safety. He was a good person, if angry and egotistical at times. He also seems to have had some mental health issues, what with his childhood of slavery, death of his mother, lonely life as a Jedi in the time between Episodes 1 and 2, and of course, the Clone Wars and dreams of his beloved Padmē and children dying.
Vader is cold and numb and cruel, and doesn't regard life as anything to be treasured. He tried to completely detach Anakin from himself, treating him like another lifeform entirely.
Psychology-wise, Vader and Anakin were two different people who had the misfortune to be placed in the same body.
That is a weak excuse for bad writing.

One question. Leias astromech in this story is named T4 yet its picture is that of an R series astromech, and there is no R series astromech that I know of that bears the suffix -T4. So which is it, an R series or an older T series astromech like T3M4, as the T4 in its name indicates?
Edit: the reason I posted before looking was to get the question out there so someone else could answer if I hadn't turned up anything. However after searching wookiepedia, I now know that there was in fact an R2T4.

Not much of a feat really. Storm trooper armor is maybe one degree tougher than Halloween store plastic. The average person might be able to do the same thing just by shoving a storm trooper against a wall.

If Leia is force sensitive, how come she didn't feel the deaths of all of Alderaan's population. Even an untrained force sensitive person would've felt those deaths.
She probably did, but being untrained and being thrown into a maelstrom of emotions from witnessing her home destroyed failed to recognize the disturbance as anything else than her own sorrow and horror at everything and everyone she ever knew being vaporized instantaneously. My take on it at least.

When Thrawn told Lea "You in a way have chosen our target" Her response "Alderaan has no weapons" He didn't care or think twice. He order its activation. Then we saw its use and destructive power!
There are who design the machine and build them. Then there are others who make them function. To say I had no part in it uses, I only followed orders. Haven't we all heard that before in Hitler Germany and other places since.
Lessons being, no single one person escape or can avoid the responsibility or consequences of their actions. No matter how much time has past or the place you live in to hide from yourself. There will be a price to pay.

There were 10,000 Jedi that known of Anakin Skywalker, but not one Jedi that truly knew him.
As for the Fallen Order game, I watched it myself, there was no Anakin to be seen in it.

I'm not here to defend the Diney trilogy bit damn man those two have nothing more in common than the word you used. Garen was a scientist born before the Empire who worked on a world destroyer weapon that has been used for one of the worst war crimes of the galactic history. The other was a brainwashed soldier child who escaped his condition when he realized what he has been part of...

It's fine to like anything friend:) As long as you understand liking it doesn't make it good quality. Like Fallout 76 for example, maybe when it came out you enjoyed it and love it, but that doesn't change it from being a poor quality unfinished buggy mess, but you can enjoy anything.
The only problem is the people who think their SUBJECTIVE enjoyment is somehow proof of OBJECTIVE quality. Disney Star Wars is absolute abysmal garbage, and even worse as Star Wars content, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying what you enjoy!

@@mrbeefy1101 Oh Rogue One is definitely authentic and good Star Wars, one of the sadly very few quality products Disney has produced for the franchise. Aspects of Disney's Clone Wars, almost the entirety of Rebels, and each movie of their fanfiction trilogy are absolutely garbage. But yeah, at least some quality things exist, I just wish actual fans of Star Wars owned the rights. Have you seen the fan remade Obi-Wan Vs. Vader fight, SC 38 reimagined? It's so beautiful and authentically done that most agree it's just the new "canon." And it's far better than anything Disney has produced, even with how good Rogue One was. It's probably my favorite lightsaber fight now, if you haven't checked it out, you've got to.
But yeah, I don't mean to say Disney can't produce quality and authentic Star Wars, just that for the most part they sadly haven't.

You know, whenever I hear of Vader infiltrating anywhere, it's always him walking in and slaughter fools. I'd love to see him do some genuine infiltration. Strip out of his armor to a more streamlined life support system, come up with an alternate identity and go into one of these places as something like an engineer or repairman that was badly wounded during the clone wars and then spy and work his way into the info he needed.
