Actually it would make better sense in the movies in general if main girls looked normally like this. It would feel somehow more human and likeable then.
Well actually I think styling and the roles play a big part in how we view them. Frey's daughters are all with these gloomy faces and messy hair, they are not ugly, but aren't pretty either. Cersei without all of that gold a fancy dresses, Margaery without her curls...
Some of them are actually pretty. I’m all for marrying whoever you fall in love with but in this medieval time period, Robb messes up big time not marrying one of them. And by killing one of his most powerful lords all because of his honor and what he thought was right. Even his mother, wife, and uncle advised him to not kill the Karstark lord
Marriage is 100% political during the Middle Ages. Lords who have mistresses and maidens having personal "bodyguards" was basically the norm (as long as a legitimate heir is born). Robb should have known about this
rabea albert When Catelyn Stark went to Walder Frey for the first time to discuss the terms, She said to Robb that one was.....I think that one is Freya
To everyone saying that Walder has far more daughters and grandaughters other than those, remember that many of them are already married. Besides, he only introduced the _true born_ and children of true born, offering an bastard bride or the daughter of an bastard son would be an great insult. Walder said this to one Walda (Aemon Rivers's one) and send her away because he just wanted real Freys.
That is actually a debate about Roslin in the fandom, some says Walder hide her and others claims she was on the back, in the books, there where more girls and its possible. Nobody knows for sure
I love how his daughters have similar names like he was too lazy and just made it up on the spot upon their birth. Walda, Weldra, Wanda...I don't even give a shit any more.
Watching this back and it puts Robb in a different perspective. He was so naive and arrogant, he made a good warrior but not a good king he almost single handedly destroyed his house
Walder Frey did not betray Robb because of the marriage proposal. He betrayed Robb to further his house as lords of the Riverlands. Even if Robb had not taken a wife elsewhere, I doubt he would have taken Robb's side at this point in the war. Walder was a known "coward", staying home untill the outcome was decided during Roberts rebellion earning him the nickname the late lord Frey by Hoster Tully. The same goes for Roose Bolton. He was loyal untill the battle was lost and flipped on Robb. The moment he lost the war wasnt when he wed his wife, but when he didnt tell Edmure his plan to capture Tywin between 2 armies, and when he beheaded lord Karstark for his warcrimes.
Robb genuinely should've married a Frey girl the moment he crossed the Twins, since it would lock Walder into a marriage alliance immediately, and dissuade Tywin from making a red wedding proposal since the Freys clearly demonstrated themselves to be enemies to the Crown by marrying the King in the North. It forces Walder to choose between tying himself to the fate of the North, or announcing his intent to betray immediately. Robb should've also just executed Jamie to placate the Karstarks and other angry northern houses. I doubt Tywin would allow Sansa to be harmed since she's the only thing that could possibly get Robb to back down a little.
@@johnroach9026 Robb needed to cross the Twins quickly for his surprise attack. This was a tactical move to not marry right away. And Sansa may not have been harmed as long as Tywin lives, but you dont know what happens if you kill him and Jamie. Having a bargaining chip is always helpful. I think the better move was to allow the lords to take their revenge on the battlefield, or in some other way. If Jamie was never released lord Karstark couldve been held in line.
I think one can hardly fault at Walder Frey for betray Robb, if he had not done so in such a very much despicable way, since you know , guest right is sacred

Well actually I think styling and the roles play a big part in how we view them. Frey's daughters are all with these gloomy faces and messy hair, they are not ugly, but aren't pretty either. Cersei without all of that gold a fancy dresses, Margaery without her curls...
Don't rate women based on looks. It's just bad.
@@chitbong5725 women exist for looks
Edmure listening closely trying to find out which one he will marry
Some of them are actually pretty. I’m all for marrying whoever you fall in love with but in this medieval time period, Robb messes up big time not marrying one of them. And by killing one of his most powerful lords all because of his honor and what he thought was right. Even his mother, wife, and uncle advised him to not kill the Karstark lord
Self-sabotage
Marriage is 100% political during the Middle Ages. Lords who have mistresses and maidens having personal "bodyguards" was basically the norm (as long as a legitimate heir is born). Robb should have known about this
0:37 Let's not forget Walrus, Walnut, Wally, Wall-E, Wal-Mart, Walrein(POKEMON), Waldorf, Wallace, Wanda, Walderina, Wendesday, Wenda & Wendy.
There's also K-MART, Wal-Mart's cousin..
Walt, Wald, Waldermort, Waldia, Wonder.
You forgot Woolworth....
Waluigi.
The rest are actually called Walda to make things more confusing.
Freya is actually quite pretty
rabea albert When Catelyn Stark went to Walder Frey for the first time to discuss the terms, She said to Robb that one was.....I think that one is Freya
And so is Shirei
Too pretty. In the Frey family its a curse to be a woman (a curse at any time really but especially there).
If Roslin Frey was at the twins when Robb was there, there'd be no red wedding
Robb wasn't at the negotiations though, only Catelyn
If she was at the twins i would bend the knee to joffrey so we can stop this nonsense and get started.

So is the one that Edmure married here?
That is actually a debate about Roslin in the fandom, some says Walder hide her and others claims she was on the back, in the books, there where more girls and its possible. Nobody knows for sure

Before the last one... for a sec I tought he is going to call her "Walrus" xD
+Lex60 No, that would be Fat Walda.
And he gave her to Roose Bolton. Not sure if that's an insult or not.
+Cadence Wallace Bolton chose his wife. Walder Frey promised him his wives weight in silver, so he chose the fattest.
I knew that but still. Wonder if he knows she's dead.
If he finds Ramsay may be in trouble. Frey may be a bastard but he does love his family.
Edmure just surveying the talent to weigh up his prospects kills me.
i would have married them all because its my duty to restore the stark line and i can't do that with just one

Edmure was like "ahh, imagine the threesomes that would've taken place"
every scene with walder frey is absolutely amazing🤣
Dat "Fine" kills me every time
Freya and Mary were actually gorgeous.
"Twins. You could have had either. Could have had both for all I care."

I laughed so hard at this scene. 🤣🤣. Walder Frey is a comedian. Lol @ “Sarah & Sara”
It's Serra and Sara
This entire scene was shot 75 times. David Bradley is amazing.
I love how his daughters have similar names like he was too lazy and just made it up on the spot upon their birth. Walda, Weldra, Wanda...I don't even give a shit any more.
Now that I think about it, Lady Freya Stark has a nice ring to it😏
Walder was fucking funny. Don't care what you all say that guy was fucking priceless. Not fucks or shits to give about fucking anything.
“I’m Mary.”
“Fine.”
Lmao love how Walder Frey gives zero fucks haha
Robb: Did you take a look at them?
Catelyn: One was...
When you breed so much and lose track. I love Marys acting skills.
As much as I hate the Freys “you could’ve had either… could’ve had both for all I care.” Is a hilarious line, and so is “Mary.” “Fine.”
Watching this back and it puts Robb in a different perspective. He was so naive and arrogant, he made a good warrior but not a good king he almost single handedly destroyed his house
Wish he had more scenes hes a legend
“You could’ve had them both for all I care.” 🤣🤣
It’s incredible how a setup for the most gruesome and shocking moment in tv history is so filled with exhilarating unintentional humor.
I'm sure Walder would appreciate this gesture and would aid fighting the Lannisters. So civilised!
Tywin Lannister: So uncivilized.

I didn’t realize the joke was that these girls are meant to be “ugly” they’re all really pretty??? tf
At some point you wonder if Marie just jumped on the opportunity to change her name. Some Freys are pretty cunning.

Freya was actually beautiful. She just needed sun and a makeover.

Waldina
Robb, you F'ed up. As much as I hate the Red Wedding, you brought most of that down on yourself. Walder may have been wrong in how he went about it, but he was not wrong in seeing vengeance.
I hated Walder Frey's character so much in the books. But, the way David Bradley plays the character on the show had me actually liking him a bit.
Mary deserved a bigger role, poor lady
I would have chosen Merry by a mile. They tried to dress these girls down and she still looked very beautiful to me. Besides being pretty, there is a way she talks that communicates bravery and intelligence. She seemed to actually be thinking about something while the rest of the girls were mindlessly moping.
"You could have had either you could have had both for all I care" 😂😂
How is an old man just saying names funnier than most comedies these days?
They’re not even that ugly. They’re actually all pretty in their own way.
I have watched this episode 3 times. I've watched the first 4 seasons entirely (minus this and a couple scenes for the next episode) more time than I can count. I've watched season 5-8 a variable amount between about a dozen and 5 times. So by far this episode I've seen the least (great episode but I can't put myself through it) but this scene lives in my brain, rent free. Possibly the most unintentionally funny moment since Vaders disappointment when Luke drops
You said all that to say what exactly? You don’t like the episode?
