      Hi Chris, Wouxun just released a MURS version of the popular KG-1000G GMRS mobile radio. The KG-1000M is in stock and available now at www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-1000m.html

    Radio Shack did carry a line of Motorola Handhelds that had all 5 MURS channels, Including 4 business band channels. If manufactures, such as WOUXUN made a Mobile and with right, no - one isn't gone to really care about the 2 watt output, because as you said VHF is really ment for outdoor use.

    Would like a MURS mobile. A big advantage to MURS is not many knowing about it, thus somewhat private comms. Its a double-edged sword because a radio maker wants to sell a lot of radios, so if it took off, that advantage would diminish.

    For use in cars, couldn’t you just hook up a magnetic mount vhf antenna? It would seem that the ability to use external/alternative antennas would be its biggest advantage over frs radios.

      @chetsjug 3 роки тому +4

      You are correct that is exactly the point because you can unscrew the antenna unlike FRS. Many have BNC connectors and you can use your magnet Mount or mirror mount on a motorhome Etc

    2:00 One can program any radio to receive MURS without issue. Transmitting one a programmed radio is the issue.

    As you say Walmart and other stores already used the radio but those are license to Business Band Channel operators that have grandfathered in and Murs radio users must give them priority on the channel because they are still licensed under the business band system so don't be confused. And M u r s user and a licensed Business Band user can talk to each other if they agree but if the business operator says do not transmit in my store you have to listen to that or you will have a $7,500 ticket for interfering with a licensed operator..

    I want to say I appreciate your video here but there are some technicalities you have been mistaken. First of all Channel 1 2 and 3 are industrial band channels Channel 4 and 5 are Business Band channels commonly known as blue dot & green dot. It sounds silly but it was part of the old Motorola system you also have stars as well as dots; Green star yellow star etc. Each color just coordinated with a frequency so don't get confused it's Motorola. LOL. Also I read the entire Congressional transcripts with the FCC and contributors like RadioShack Motorola and others trying to start up the band. RadioShack was all mad because they didn't think of it and were causing a lot of problems. You can find the PDF transcript online if you hunt real good. The original concept was to have a CB radio in the VHF band. Like the original CB it was to be used for personal or business but not broadcasting sales. 2 Watts on VHF pretty much equals 4 Watts on the CB band. Anything low-power can be licence free, such as FM radio broadcasting in your local neighborhood under 50 Watts. So the intention was to have a low-power short-range, meaning 10 to 20 miles, radio for citizens to use with no license. It was to actually finish the concept through all the bands. First we had CB and Low band. If you know the history it was supposed to be UHF in the sixties but they switch to 27 mhz at the last minute because UHF was too cost-prohibitive for hobby radio people. So RadioShack came along with its Family Radio Service in UHF has a license free service and M u r s was the VHF answer to Citizens Band. There are 4 citizens bands including CB, MURS, FRS, and a medical band only to be used by Hospital medical centers Etc but it is license free and low power. When you said it's useless because it's VHF and UHF is better for indoors yes that's exactly the point, VHF Murs was for cars and trucker base stations, plumbing companies whatever just like the original CB. It was to be a short-range license-free band. There are many walkie talkies with pre-programmed murders at 2 what and yes it is rare to find a mobile unit or base station but there is a grandfathering clause tired if you can find a radio made before 2000 that is 2 Watts or less you can pre-program the radio on the frequencies and it is legal even though it is not type approved. Radio Shack had a 2-channel business band radios with m u r s channels and an interior setting of 2 Watts. If you don't want to find a businessman radio with these channels I would just suggest using a low power anytone or tyt. Also there is a company called B Tech that has an under-dash converter where you can have your roof antenna and regular microphone so you can plug your walkie-talkie into your car and go.

    HEY GUYS, THIS N3NDX, CAN YOU GUYS DO AN UP TO DATE CHART FOR MURS AND GMRS/FRS/BUSINESS RADIO BAND PLANS... THAT ONE IS REALLY TO FAR OUT OF DATE......THANKYOU AND 73........10-14-2020-21:00HRS.....

      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому

      Which chart are you referring to? The MURS chart at 2:13 is current and correct. The chart of old Dot and Star Frequencies at 2:31 is a legacy chart of what the frequency assignments used to be on old business radios, and it was stated as such in the video. It was there to illustrate the point that the frequency assignments changed and is why some older business radios using the dot and star frequencies may not work with business radios currently on the market on their default frequencies. All of the current and up to date radio band plans are indeed listed on our site at www.buytwowayradios.com.

      We do not currently carry the KG-UV8G, so we don't have one for which to do a video. Of course, if we do decide carry it in the future, we may produce a video for it. We appreciate the feedback!

    Weather it's MURS or GMRS, the problems most have users the radio in close proximty is desensitizing each radio. No one hears the full transmission. I hear Off Road users talking about the bigger the convoy the more wattage they need. A 2watt MURS radio is just poewerful as a fulll 15 or 40 watt simplex GMRS when travelling in a convoy. As long as there's reasonable spacing between each veihcle in the cony. Of course, there not a lot big selection of MURS mobile radios out there. That's My 5 Cents

      As far as the selection of MURS mobile radios, Wouxun now has a new one. It's the KG-1000M, and it's now in stock on our site at www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-1000m.html
