Saban struggled at MSU. Sark struggled at USC. Harbaugh struggled in his first 5 years at UM. It is possible for coaches to get better over time. Dan Laning lost to UW twice in the same season and no one said he needed to be fired. People need to chill out.

Kirby smart Struggled until he won his first National championship. He won back to back. He is the darling of the SEC... Do you know what his record is against Alabama? Its 1-6 Last time I checked that is worse than Day's record against TCUN. Because the landscape has completely changed we as fans need to recognize the reality that we need to adjust our perspective.
If we lose to TCUN but win the National Championship then that is more important and a greater accomlishment than beating TCUN but getting bounced out of the play offs PERIOD

Literally no one has presented any evidence that OSU spent a “record amount” on NIL this cycle. The $13M figure that has been going around since Kiffin posted about it was taken from a story that came out two years ago: Day told a group of donors that the estimated total cost of keeping a roster intact would be about $13M. But because apparently no one-including pundits and journalists who are paid to know what they’re talking about-bothered to read the article that Kiffin linked to, everyone is convinced that OSU is uniquely generous with its NIL money. Fact checking is important; I recommend trying it.

And please don’t shoot back with his so-called ridiculous win total against the nobody’s in the Big Ten. That is simply what he is supposed to do and what is expected of him at Ohio State. John Cooper went 2-10-1 against Michigan while losing most of his post season games and the occasional embarrasment vs Michigan State. He lasted 13 years so Ohio State isn't 1 to fire coaches quickly.

@@kyleb5169 I wasn’t necessarily talking about the university and how it handles coaches. I was specifically addressing all the fans who get so angry when anyone says day is on the hot seat. During those lost Cooper years OSU had great team after great team full of talent but couldn’t win the big games. A nice fat win percentage against the bottom feeders. It took 13 years before the school finally had enough and let him go. So I’m asking OSU fans now, how many losses against scum, how many years without a B1G total or a Nati are enough for them to say, ok I’ve had it? Even though he has a huge winning percentage against the bottom feeders. I bet all those defending him now and talking about his winning percentage will change their minds in another year or so if this keeps up.

I don't think it's necessarily how many losses he has this coming year. Obviously if they go 6-7 and lose the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to San Diego State, he's gone. (In that situation he'd probably be gone before the regular season ended.) But the odds of that happening are so close to zero that even Pallas Athene couldn't tell the difference.
Let's do a more realistic hypothetical. tOSU goes 11-1 in the regular season, loses the conference championship game, ends up a 9 or 10 seed in the expanded playoff, wins their first two playoff games, and loses in the semifinals for a final record of 13-3.
If the regular season loss is to Michigan, the loss in the conference championship game to Michigan, and the loss in the playoff to Michigan, he's fired on the plane ride back after the playoff loss. Fans are already mad enough he's lost three straight games to Michigan. If he loses three more games to them in about a six week span the fan base will be hanging him in effigy before the plane lands.
if the regular season loss is to Penn State, the conference championship loss to Oregon, and the loss in the playoff to Georgia, and he finally beats Michigan, fans will be very happy and he's secured his job for a while.

Unfortunately for the uninformed trolls and haters, Day is not on the hot seat. The program is extremely healthy, and recruiting is on fire. He's an elite fundraiser when needed. If you fire a HC at a program like OSU these days, which is one of the two most talented rosters in the sport, it becomes open season and you have to watch players, recruits and the elite infrastructure walk out the door. Rivalries ebb and flow, people need to get over the UM thing. With a 12 team playoff, the outcome of that game becomes much less punitive for both schools. He can't lose in perpetuity, but it would take an epic collapse for him to be let go.

You can't tell me a guy who has lost to Michigan 3 years in a row, has potentially the most LOADED roster in the history of football taking on what likely is a Michigan team that is going to see a large drop off loses to Michigan and doesn't get fired?!?!
How bad of a coach do you have to be to get fired then? You have a LOADED roster with a bunch of 1st rounders and future first rounders, if you can't beat a down Michigan... then you have no business being a coach.
Ohio State has always been the KING of doing LESS WITH MORE. No school does less with more than Ohio State.
Take 2015 for example. Returned nearly EVERYONE from the 2014 natty team and they proceed to look terrible most of the season.
Ryan Day has NO EXCUSE to lose to Michigan. The team lost 44 players, most of its coaching staff and potential NCAA sanctions and he's taking them on with a LOADED roster. If you lose that game, how do you justify his job?!

The fact is, he has a great team coming back. The best defense we have seen going into a season since the Tressel era. But it is a long season, and a lot can happen. I tend to think anything less that a B1G title and/or multiple playoff wins and a new direction should be considered. There is a lot that happens in a season, though. I have a problem with what Pate said at 2:19. Hypothetically speaking, OSU advancing to the championship does not mean they would've done what UGA did. UGA would've obliterated just about anybody that night. They prepared like a team who was on a mission to defend their national title crown and they would not be denied. That was a flawless performance by UGA. College football is all about matchups and TCU faced a matchup nightmare against UGA. TCU would've fared WAY better against OSU. They would've lit that OSU secondary up. Seriously, if Michigan could do it, TCU definitely would've been able to do it. It would've been a high scoring game just like the game TCU had against Michigan. Not saying OSU would've lost but to say that would've body bagged TCU is extremely far fetched. Considering the fact that TCU beat the team that demolished OSU, I don't even think you could say for certain that OSU would have even won. It would've been a toss up and probably an all-time classic but thanks to UGA we were robbed of what could've been. Oh well!🤷‍♂

Columbus Ohio loves and supports Coach Day! It's just that the 2% idiots who think if you don't win every single game or your fired....they just happen to be the loudest!! They don't represent true Buckeyes.
Keep speaking the truth Pate! We love you here in Columbus too!

Ryan Day is John Loser Cooper 2.0. Lost 3 it is time to go! Send Day down the road! I am a 3rd generation Alumnus and when the development fund calls me for a donation every quarter, I tell them I will continue financial support when they fire Ryan Day and hire a coach who can win THE GAME and not be beaten in a bowl game. I do not want to hear how Day has won over 80% of the games (Loser Cooper did too). I want you to tell me his record against xichigan. You can't win that game, get out of Columbus! How do we get rid of him.... quit donating money to the university until the administration understands we will not accept a loser as a head football coach. I would suggest we also lobby some of the paying companies to go along with the Alumni boycott too.

I’m trying to imagine being such a Neanderthal with my childish obsession of this sport that the future of my donations to a school is based on the school firing a coach who is 56-8
Hopefully you’ll use that money you don’t donate for… y’know… something actually worthwhile 😂😂
