    I remember back when Xenoblade X came out, someone said as a joke that it would be wild if there were 8 other Xenoblade games after the first one and in the end, X was the tenth one (using X as the roman numeral). That is how I want X to be connected to the main trilogy now.

    I'll just say it straight up. If they don't explain the connection between Telethia, Mira and the Ovah, then they haven't answered the actual biggest question this game left unanswered.
    Sure, more people want to know about Lao's fate, the Black Knight, Elma's mentor, and what Mira is.
    But I feel like those things only require a little context to make sense. We aren't as far from the truth.
    But the Ovah? That NEEDS to be explained. It's explained enough to make sense biologically to the Orphe, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY HINTS AND LORE IMPLICATIONS.
    I NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE OVAH, AND ABOUT TELETHIA, THE ENDBRINGER, AND ABOUT THE ORPHE.
    I WILL NOT BE SATISFIED IF THEY DO NOT BRING ME CLOSURE ON THIS.

    • @AstralXen
      @AstralXen 8 днів тому +16

      It's a pretty accepted theory that the Telethia in X came to X's world from the fog rift in future connected, but other then that there's the entire rabbit hole about Ganglion, the Samaar federation, the true nature of Mira, and all that stuff that honestly I think needs to be explained across multiple games

    • @DS_DoggerX
      @DS_DoggerX 7 днів тому +2

      @AstralXen the problem I have with that theory is that it doesn't actually answer anything. Sure, we see a telethia enter the rift.
      But its departure from XC1 says nothing of its arrival on Mira, besides, Endbringer looks more like a monstrous overgrown Sani Telethia, not so much like the one that entered.
      I'm not denying that it's possible, but as of now, it would require a few retcons to fully fit.
      Also that leaves the Ovah unexplained still!

    Agreed, it doesn't mean anything. I do think that there's going to be a connection to the main trilogy and I really hope it's not via the Klaus experiment judging by the Future Redeemed details, but I'd like to see it tied to the Conduit somehow, as it teleported out of its universe at the end of XC2 and could be anywhere by now. It might've even been the basis for developing the Lifehold as seen by the shape of the units.

    I really wish X lore theorising went past the first cutscene theres so much other stuff to unpack. I know people wanna connect it but there are so many ways to make it work without retcons, all 3 main games happened in different worlds I dont see why x being another makes it different. That and if we get an x2 I want it to be different to the main series I like the more near future scifi twist on the series it has and I dont want that to go away by merging it.

      Making all the games canon to each other in the same universe wouldn’t change anything for X as all the blade elements are stuck on earth that was left behind. I feel like Lin's line about searching for Earth again might've been more metaphorical than literal, given the other arks but it's hard to say for certain.
    I also feel like going back to where Earth was makes sense even if Earth is gone anyways. People are sentimental, and there's always a chance that maybe the entire planet wasn't completely obliterated into space dust. Just got made completely uninhabitable. Who knows!
    Also there's no way that Klaus' experiment and X's opening are at the same time - for the simple reason of the Saviorite Rebels. You'd think if there were actual literal aliens bombing Earth with antimatter bombs, that'd have been mentioned along with the Saviorite Rebels attacking the Beanstalk...but no, it was just Saviorites during the experiment.

      The lack of mention does not mean it isn’t happening as the current threat is the salvator’s gunning for the Conduit. @@Xeno-The-Wanderer Ok but why would they care about the Saviorites when these top scientists know that they’re under attack by aliens strong enough to explode planets? For that matter, why would the Saviorites launch an attack if it’s basically useless to even have the conduit in the face of aliens that can explode planets (and thus you will not have enough time to use the conduit)?
      Also, ngl, those events happening at the same time would make the experiment scene so much worse. Instead of Klaus talking about how the nature of humans towards conflict has doomed humanity, he just looks like an idiot who forgot that there’s aliens that explode planets right outside and about to explode the planet. At that point he’s totally wrong, humans did absolutely nothing to destroy the planet in the grand scheme of things, the aliens did a lot worse, and he should maybe mention that.

    The trailer hasn't shown anything yet, but I personally really wouldn't be surprised if they reanimate the explosion of Earth.
    So long as you assume Xenoblade 2's exposition is just being a bit circumspect and vague (in the same way that Alvis leaves a few things out in Xenoblade 1), then the idea that Klaus pressed the big ol' button because of wide-spread conflict and flying mechs approaching the beanstalk... well, all that happening whilst there's also a melee a trios of humans and two alien factions at the same time isn't too massive a change.
    (Much like Alvis, you can fudge it away as the Architect leaving out details that aren't relevant at all. Simpler to say "war" than "simultaneous double alien invasion").
    Ideally, this would be the only tie-in to the other Xenoblades we get at all. Earth winks out of existence, presumed lost to an anti-matter explosion, but it was actually the Experiment. It ties the game in whilst leaving X free to take place completely independently of the rest of the series' continuity.

Also it would make alot of sense. I disagree that it would be "crowded" since the xenoblade series has been good about telling the story infront of them in each entry and having the cross over be a nice thing for long time fans. Im hoping it is a retcon because one of the biggest story writing problem (besides the cliffhanger ending and the story making Elma in the right even though she was the one who let Lao go in the first place) was the fact that Lao betrayed NLA for the ganglion, the people who actually killed his wife and child and earth. Lao point about the rich using and abusing minorities gets totally undermine by the fact that humanity did nothing wrong this time. At least having Klaus experiment be the one that destroyed earth would better Lao story.

    • @byronlyons3548
      @byronlyons3548 8 днів тому +1

      I mean... spoilers down below.

      Lao eventually came to the realization that the people of earth, let alone the rich, wouldn't need to have done that at all, if not for the Ganglion planning to attack the humans. While very despicable of what has happened, it was ultimately out of survival and response of genocide approaching them. Even if they couldn't be saved by their crappy government, it still was the Ganglions, and possibly the Ghost, that ended up killing his family. So what is he to do? End humanity for letting his family back in home to their fate, and let their killers get away with it? Or get revenge to the ones who actually ended them and ruined many human lives?
      Besides, we still have many side content of humans being terrible, on how low they would stoop to get what they want. The message would not be lost really.
      Also what another comment said, retconning X's Earth being destroyed because Klaus would be even worse. Because then it contradicts all of what Klaus was saying about humanity ruining the world, but here we have Aliens having a warzone on it's atmosphere and anti matter bombing it is what's actually ruining it. It just would make the scene tone deaf, ruining whatever impact it had thematically about humanity, also making Klaus look like an ass. Which also again, would affect X negatively with writing inconsistency.

      Lao wanted both Humans (hyprocritics of NLA) and Ganglion dead. Pulling this off would be too hard though, so he joined the team that was more likely to beat the other (allowing Lao to pull off at least half of his vengeance). That is why he joined the Ganglion. Most I would agree with you is that it would be welcome to make this more clear in the game.

    My thinking, based on how the end of XC3's Future Redeemed DLC played out along with some of the changes noticed between the trailers of the original game and the remaster, I think that a retcon might have taken place but not the one that people think.
    I don't think that it's gonna end up with Earth not being destroyed, but I do think it's gonna connect X to the main XC series somehow.

Which means they would have had to known in advance that the world was going to be destroyed, and thats only possible if they knew what the results of Klaus' experiment was going to be long before it happened which both the XC1 and XC2 cutscenes contradict that fact. What Klaus did was purely by chance and Meyneth explicitly states herself theres no way to know what would happen. Otherwise there is no way they could have prepared ships and sent them to space in the span of the seconds before Klaus presses the button.

    I don't think the base game will be altered much since the way they're wording the additional story content makes it out to be a Future Connected like addition. Though I can see them retconning things with that additional story by using the unreliable narrator trope. From our character's point of view they never actually see Earth get destroyed, and we only hear what others say happened to it. So the entire opening could be revealed to be false and we'll get the actual story of what happened in this additional story or in X2.
    The Xeno series isn't new to the unreliable narrator trope, so I can see them using it to make X fit better with the mainline Xenoblade series as well.

      Well, as said in this video, that scene from Lin seems to be new, yet I would argue it is unlikely to be from the new story because they are in Noctilum and Mono saved the tease for the new story to the last scene. The wide shot from NLA is also new actually, and the scene with the two NPCs in the armory alley is also altered, the NPCs on the left is way closer to the camera compared to the original cutscene. So it does seem like some changes to the cutscenes of the main story of the original game will also happen.

    I should start by saying thank you for pointing out that the intro cutscene and voice-overs have not been changed. So many people are taking this as proof that things are retconned and just running with it.
    I do feel as though people are looking for ways to keep X separate from other games, or are creating rather small points into insurmaountable hurdles to overcome, however. Regardless, I don't think that it would be disastrous for the games to be connected, especially when there's already precident for them connecting games and since there seems to be a desire from Monolith to unite the different Xeno groups of humanity.
    Additionally, the opening of X doesn't really retcon, nor is it retconned by the addition of the Klaus experiment. The destruction of Earth isn't a hard fact; Lin's narration saying that they may find it in the future is evedince enough. Additionally, Klaus's experiment never had an explicit reason to it. I think the most likely answer, with X in mind, was to originally remove Earth into a pocket dimension to escape the impending alien war. Klaus however, seems to hijack the experiment to his own ends, perhaps in trying to make an additional dimension for him to play god, he sundered the Earth. This retains his lamentation at his own hubris, while his dismay at humanity's cruel nature is furthered by the true nature of Oroject Exodus (it being more focused on saving the rich and powerful, leaving the common man behind). While I do find it to be fun to theorize and to find posdible threads linking the events if the games, I'm not beholden the idea that they have to be connected. Before 2 I figured that Xenoblade would function like Final Fantasy: similair themes and iconography, but different worlds.

    My crackpot “theory” is that the button push triggered a matter shift event in several “adjacent” universes simultaneously. This could potentially explain why the explosion in X’s universe occurred seemingly suspended above the planet.
    Problems? Many. This would be strange narratively as Klaus doesn’t get to rebuild those adjacent universes unlike in 2. We don’t know the position of X’s conduit equivalent. Why would this even happen?
    Other potential theory is Ontos dipped into X’s universe for a bit in between 1 and 3. Reasoning? The ghost origin lookalike. Origin was built around Ontos, and he went missing for a bit before origin was conceived in the numbered universe. And we don’t see the ghosts after the earth’s destruction and the L-002 crashing. But again. Why? Don’t know.

My evidence is only that the tainted monsters in oblivia are just like fogbeasts/gnosis which have specifically been used as “this is a surprise tool that will help us later” for the story. So im thinking that if anything, the star falling to earth at the end of FR is kosmos, then xenosaga happens after xenoblade, then x happens even later on. I mean in the simplest sense they were just matching the edit to Lin's line. X is and always was a separate universe and the stuff in Future Redeemed was just a nice easter egg. Probably the same for Saga though that would take much less plot and mental gymnastics to weave in if that is the plan. Weaving in X would need to change much more. This doesn't make X any less canon. This is simply a fictional setting that has a multiverse and X doesn't need to be neatly tied into the main trilogy lore to matter. If they ever do integrate it I assume it will be because one side crosses into the other's universe for reasons.

    I don’t think that just because Xenoblade definitive edition doesn’t have the war above earth in the cut scene means that they couldn’t write con X to also be part of it. For two reasons one it was not like a recording of what happened. It was just an interpretation/recreation for Shulks understanding it wasn’t relevant to his choice that they were currently engaged in a battle. So lower wise, it still holds. And then, secondly, from a gameplay perspective, even though the games aren’t necessarily. Meant to be played in order. They are in order of 1 2 and three and so if you knew that there was actively a battle and you had tons of information about Zaza I feel that would lead to revealing the second games is plot a little too much so from my gameplay perspective and not showing it is also valuable I mean, the fact that sirens are covering the sky in that battle would kind of give away pretty early on what the plot is. That doesn’t mean I believe they’re going to retcon X although that is my favorite head cannon.

    If I were in a spaceship fleeing a war above Earth, and I saw Earth engulfed by a glowing ball of light before disappearing, I'd think it was destroyed!
    I wouldn't even have conceived of the possibility that it could have been whisked off to another dimension partially in tact.

They already had to push around several things to make the main games connect the way they do and XDE staying the same(If it does stay the same) is not particularly evidencial of anything in particular considering they never adjusted that one cutscene in DE to the canonical version(Which would be a cut down and slightly out of context version of what we see in 2).

    Though I'm not sure what's wrong with a retcon (wouldn't be the first one), it could, like there being no Beanstalk in DE, be a case of perspective. I'm not sure what really rules out X's connection to the other 3 or why it's a big deal. Honestly, I stopped caring years ago after forming the connection with Klaus' version and getting a lot of heat... I get X being a "spin off" or a black sheep makes it special but... I'm not sure how having a connection ruins that. If anything, it leaves the game to fend for itself and its several unanswered questions. It could even be both. If it's another universe created by Klaus, is that also a retcon? Or is it just an explanation or answer to one of the many unanswered questions raised in the game? I never played Gears or Saga so I too wouldn't see them as canon, much like the many who didn't play X compared to those two, but I don't get why they are canon but X is a retcon. If anything, X seems to slide in better as we are being painted a clearer picture of what truly happened to earth with each installment. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. I never understood what the big deal was and I probably still wont even after I replay all of X. It's been a long time, I was starting college when X came out. So I'm just here for the ride. Its canonical nature, or rather each game's canonical nature, is a small part of the bigger picture as a whole. X was just the only one I felt needed a followup. More to tell and more to infer. Future Redeemed is the strongest argument for X being connected, but we've only heard the story from 3 very different perspectives: Alvis, Klaus, and Lin. One judged Klaus from the perspective of a mad scientist; one judged him morally from first person as someone off the earth and jaded with mankind, and the last was a survivor escaping the planet that was being destroyed from all sorts of different things and is seemingly unaware and detached from anything to do with the Orbital Ring. But if each game can be played on their own, then the continuity as a whole should be unaffected. After all, each game paints its own picture of its own story and each sequel adds to the larger picture that connects the story. Like a panorama. I can't play Saga or Gears to see how they connect, but I can play all of the Xenoblade games and see how they do. So, it is what it is and it will be what it will be. Who cares who's right or wrong when it's just a head canon until the game arrives... and could stay one even after... After all... the game doesn't have to explain anything... It was fine enough as it was. I was hoping for a port, so I wasn't expecting anything new.

    I think those people are just overcomplicating things. Why couldn't X just take place AFTER the worlds were rejoined at the end of XC3? We don't know what the result of the rejoining is. I'm sure we all hope that the cast of 3 get to reunite or something, but what's to say it just doesn't just resume from the initiation of Klaus' experiment which proceeds to fail, or at least from their point of view nothing happened. We already know there was a Project Exodus going when Klaus was doing his thing from the end of Future Redeemed, and we all know the blue light descending to Earth. That blue light could be Elma arriving, which prompts them to accelerate and repurpose Project Exodus to an evacuation instead of just a normal colonization project. Is it a perfect fit? No. But could it be made to work with minimal retcons? Sure. I do think it is far more likely that X is just it's own Universe in the Xeno multi-verse, but it is fun to speculate.

  • @BlaxeFrost-X
    @BlaxeFrost-X 7 днів тому

    I have no knowledge about X but, why would it need a retcon??? I'm pretty sure XC3 goes out of it's way to tell us that XC and XC2's worlds are like 1 and -1, that the moment they reunite they anhilate, they become 0, in that sense they destroy each other. The whole reason Origin existed is because they needed to recreate their worlds after becoming 0 again so that earth we see at the end is a recreation. Okay, XC2 hast the original earth but we've never seen the surface and the tree around the tower is new, it could all be a recreation too, based on data just like every creature living on it. If two planets were created, that doesn't mean the one at 0, the original one, couldn't be destroyed too, and we know Klaus' experiment was done during a space battle anyway. No retcon needed.

    And I know about the multi earth theory, that when Klaus’s experiment literally created multiple earth, which would include earth 2.0.
    Because in Xenoblade 3 there was a cut scene showing multiple earths, like Xenoblade one (earth) = trying to merge with Xenoblade 2 (earth) and but after the events of Xenoblade 3 merged back into the original Earth creating Mira that might be absorbing other earths from the mini Multiverse that was seen in the cut scene.
    What I mean by that is Xenoblade 1-3 and the new Xenoblade Saga 4 we’re absorbed and became Mira which took place billions of years ago, my theory is it absorbed earth 2.0, because the flashing explosion was actually absorption the same thing that happened to earth billions of years ago.
    My theory is that Mira is a combination of five earths, merge together similar to what happened in Xenoblade 3, cause it would explain why their voices are being translated, also the ganglion mentioned they couldn’t leave the planet because they literally can’t. My theory is they’re inside of a pocket dimension.
    And it seems history is just repeating itself , I think when earth 2.0 was destroyed, it was absorbed into Mira and I think the main cause is, because of Genesis, and it malfunctioned after in merged the original earth,Mira in the process.
    My theory is that Mira has been absorbing , different earths, mainly cause it’s following its programming to absorb information of humanity and planets.
