  • KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Laksa was voted the 7th best food in the world by CNN. There are three main types of Laksa. I eat Asam Laksa, which is a famous Laksa from Penang. I found this Laksa restaurant in an unlikely place. I was exploring Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur. More commonly known as Petaling Street. Petaling Street Market is a popular tourist attraction and one of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur. It is full of fake goods, you could do a fake market hunt here, but I am visiting for the Malaysian street food. It was a little difficult to find at first, but look a little harder and there is plenty of amazing Malaysian food to eat in Petaling Street Market (Jalan Petaling). I hope you enjoy this Petaling Street Food Tour including the best curry laksa in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Great that you like asam laksa n I can see you’re not faking it 😅 or exaggerating it. Very few westerners like it. I had a German friend who tried it and she said it’s like the rotten fish gut.😮 anyway I thank you for featuring asam laksa. It is very underrated on UA-cam. Because of this you have won me as a subscriber 😊❤

That mochi reminds me of the Japanese warabimochi. The big difference is dipping the mochi in ground peanuts vs ground toasted soy beans.

The internationally rated foods are Asam Laksa and Curry Laksa or better known as Curry Mee. Sometimes people say laksa, I seek clarification which laksa are you talking about. Hence, I would prefer to use Curry Mee. There are many types of laksa or laksam from various states of Malaysia, mostly from local Malay origins which are less popular. The best for me is Penang style Asam Laksa.

Here is the confusion with words, hence, my preference to call it curry mee(noodles), instead of laksa but they are also selling Asam Laksa in Madras Lane. There are three stalls in Madras Lane selling curry mee. The third one from the arch is the best and the first is the worst. Taste is subjective. It is internationally rated.
