LOL. This is THE model for taxi in ShenZhen. I used to ride on it and I've constantly asked questions and user experiences with the taxi driver. At the time (this is 6-7 years ago), the experience was mixed and they complained about the range. I have NO IDEA BYD is making a new version of it. The good news is that e2 is very spacious inside, at least for those in the rear seat. despite flaws, I was very impressed with e2 at the time. it feels like a regular car. And that is a good thing. I am sure BYD made HUGE improvement since I rode in it.
Another GREAT video Sam. It seems that no one else can provide the information on what is happening that you broadcast daily! I would prefer LFP batteries and not charging in the 20%-80% range which actually lowers the normal available range of the ternary batteries. A huge "Thank You" from America.
Hi, am in U.K. and have been following B.Y. D. For 3 years . The E2 transpires to £11.000 U.K. we are waiting , we want one , so when , as we can’t wait for ever. All I can say …..give me , give me, give me…starship……
It's available where I'm at, but at a more basic trim level (no wireless charging, almost no inside compartments, only a frontal camera if I recall, etc.). The trunk space is larger than the Dolphin. It shares the same battery and engine AFAIK, range is roughly 380 in reality. I test rode the Dolphin simply because it had more options to show. The Atto 3 is really nice. I want to be able to tow a dirtbike, so all BYDs are a bit iffy. Only issue is that it's 24K, which is a huge markup (due to customs). Debating...
Thanks again Sam. The efficiency question is more to do with RWD and FWD...where front drive cars seem to be getting better real world efficiency than rear drive cars like the VW ID's. FWD EVs recover more energy from slowing down/breaking than RWD cars do
The E2 is exactly the EV needed in the UK i.e a mid sized hatchback and not another large expensive SUV. Just please do not be greedy on the price BYD and you could have a winner.
I think the basics of this car go way back to BYD's very first "self-developed" car, the F3 from 2005 (the Toyota Corolla clone). The F3 was modified and updated many times and had several spin-offs. The e2 and e3 (sedan version) appeared in 2019 as BYD's cheapest EV offerings, targeting the ride-hailing and taxi market. All BYD models with an e (there is also an e9, rebadged Han) are for the professional market.
Outside looks good it is the interior that is the short coming. Be good if they can focus on the interior. If was cheap enough would still consider buying the car despite its quirks.
all these models share a lot of components in common. it is not that complicated. it is like cell phones. every year thousands of new models are rolled out. ev will be like that. people have different tastes and want something new every year/quarter/month.
So the all new BYD Dolphin is 4.29 metres long, has the same sized battery as the LR Atto 3 same motor as the Atto 3 and this car is better? Your insane Viking!
It might be successful everywhere but in India, it has to be either a small hatch or an SUV/Micro SUV to be successful. I would personally prefer a sedan version of this model though. They can definitely bring this here if making it here otherwise it will be expensive.
No way we need dolphin, near corolla size smaller outside even better easier to park. Smaller EV then dolphin is OK but even ICE cars such size numbers aren't as much as dolphin size/Corolla; here in Aus
BYD are charging £36,000 in the UK, the same price as a Renault Megane Etech, for a brand the vast majority of British people have never heard of, not exactly a recipe for success. If BYD want to sell this car in the UK, they need to take a leaf from MG’s book and sell it for under £30,000. Oh yes, and take the cheesy moto off the back as well, most of us Brits are too burned out for that kind of nonsense.
So BYD is already making the equivalent of the Tesla Model 2, probably at least 18 months before Tesla. And its an established model with no new technology for BYD to integrate through "production hell". The Model 2 will be an also ran by the time it arrives in China and Europe.
This is all well and good but we are starting to repeat the ICE paradigm. Vastly inflated cost of ownership because of a plethora of models that has to have extended support, leading to many not being and bricked in short order, using the traditional linear manufacturing methodology. It beggars belief that with the current geopolitical tensions consumers are willing to sign up to buying Chinese cars. A car being their biggest purchase after a house. You need to start talking about these issues Sam.
It looks OLD from the outside. Simply old. And comes with this stupid high gloss piano lacquer inside. I highly prefere the look of the Dolphin and even the Seagull.
BYD, come bring something new what the otthers dont bring. Maybe a 2 door EV? A cabriolet or coupe please. Many people dont have children or no need for 4 doors or 4 seats. And 2 seaters and 2 door cars mostly have better designs/forms and are fun. But this BYD EV, will sell good in the EU. Smaller size and no high performance is good enough. For that price it will be top of the sales lists.

So happy that you cover BYD. Unlike most other Tesla channels...
The E2 is exactly the EV needed in the UK i.e a mid sized hatchback and not another large expensive SUV. Just please do not be greedy on the price BYD and you could have a winner.
yes I would consider it for a run around

Slovakia, great video, presentation about BYD e2
22.8% gross margin for Q4. So don't worry. BYD makes plenty of money, even with the crazy expansion it undertook in the past couple of years.
What would be the cheapest BYD (or similar) in Australia in the next few months?
Outside looks good it is the interior that is the short coming. Be good if they can focus on the interior. If was cheap enough would still consider buying the car despite its quirks.
Wish they were continuing to supply the whole E and T range for RHD (E6, T3 etc) for Au, NZ markets.

Hi Viking 🚙, could you also give dimensions in non imperial measurement - metres and cm.....please as lots of followers in Europe !! Thanks
What about the E6!
A few came into Australia. They are bigger and used by taxi fleets too
They need the E6 here
It might be successful everywhere but in India, it has to be either a small hatch or an SUV/Micro SUV to be successful. I would personally prefer a sedan version of this model though. They can definitely bring this here if making it here otherwise it will be expensive.
The E2 has the body shape of Atto 3, spacious inside.. different drive train..
BYD yuan Pro or BYD E2? Which one would you pick? They have similar specs and price (2023 models)
Yuan is way better
Looks o.k.... The interior is miles better than that of the Atto 3.
Can I buy one, please?
(In Ireland)
...soon? ...
If BYD sold this car in the UK for £20k, they'd clean up. Sadly it appears their pricing strategy is to try and screw us over
Cheap EVs is what we need right now. Aside from Utes/Trucks, these cars will decimate the ICE market.
Will BYD sell the E2 in SEA Philippines?
This car could - should be called Dolphin Mk2.--Also, give it a bit more power. Should sell well here.
Heat pump, 45kwh battery and 15.000$ is overkill
I want a byd e6
$14k USD. Sell it in the states and see fly off the lots.
Its another SUV..... I want the Dolphin!
Visually, I prefer it over the Dolphin
Byd are shit in Australia they are unable to fix DC charging problems so now I have a car that I can only drive 150 km from home.
BYD E5 is the taxi.
The puntang 😂😂😂
Bring it to the UK, sop Germany riping us off.
I could see them selling a lot of these in developing countries.
The BYD E2 has been selling only in left-hand drive markets in Latin-America, and Western Asia for a couple years now.
Need more range.
The Seagull would need to be super compelling before I would get one. I hate those chip stealing air rats.
Seagull is definitely an unfortunate name. E2 looks great on range, space and price.
No way we need dolphin, near corolla size smaller outside even better easier to park.
Smaller EV then dolphin is OK but even ICE cars such size numbers aren't as much as dolphin size/Corolla; here in Aus
The interiors on the ocean series are just terrible
Why has no one made a maverick EV. Not the 50k and up kind of truck. More around 30k to max 45k
Huh?
Yes the Maverick EV is one I would buy.

MG is produced by SAIC in China, in China may be cheaper than byd, but sales are much worse.
@@andbourne The MGs are the only Chinese EVs we see in the UK at present. I often see several a day. I think the reason for this is their price.
e is for taxi or rental market, so in china nearly no one buy it
So BYD is already making the equivalent of the Tesla Model 2, probably at least 18 months before Tesla. And its an established model with no new technology for BYD to integrate through "production hell". The Model 2 will be an also ran by the time it arrives in China and Europe.
BYD may have been in production for nearly 10 years, and this is the new model.
Battery pack is way to small.
Crash rating? I doubt it.
The BYD Atto 3 got a 5 star Ancap rating
Anything must be better than the zero stars from the latest Renault Zoe lol
For sure, You do not sleep 😮
1st to give a thumbs up 👍
And 1st to be 1st 🤗 🥇

Australia's EV-Direct won't be bringing this or the Seagull to Australia, right?🦤
