I recently lost my wife to cancer after 31 years of marriage. About ten years ago I built my wife her dream home. I agonized over spending almost two million on a home. I rationalized it by saying I wouldn't lose money. Turns out the real value was the joy it gave my wife and I. The point is enjoy the things that you have been blessed with. You are literally the only reason I keep a little bit of the interest I had in cars when I was in high school! Cheers Doug, keep being quirky.
The feelings you describe that you went through to buy this are EXACTLY what I went through buying my GT500 last week. Makes me feel like I made the right decision. Thanks for that!
I hear you Doug, I wasn't born of wealth either. I have a little money now but that's about it and that's only because I have been a wise spender and a good earner. Thank's for being a genuine down to earth person like most of the rest of us! OH, and congrats for "living a little!"
When I was in college in 2005 there was an enclosed semi trailer that showed up and unloaded this exact car and we got to see it first hand. Talk about incredible!!
What I like is your attitude Doug, down to earth even you've just spent a lot of money on this car, your attitude kept humble. This is how anyone should be, cars, money, everything goes down to the pooper once you're dead and, it doesn't make you better than anyone else. and your comment does any sense? I asked how he mean it. You just answered on something I didn't asked... what's the point? When someone asking "how do you mean it" then obliviously that person don't know the term. And smart people will answer with explaining the term. Did you? Nope, just came here to tell me something that's clear as day... I don't know what that mean. Did you explained me? Nope, just came here to humiliate me... What's the point of your comment? I asked politely how did he mean it. I wasn't rude or aggressive etc. So why did you? And why you didn't explained me what that stands for?
This is why I watch you Doug, you're a normal guy who hasn't changed despite your success! The others are just materialistic people! Well done and congratulations!
Doug Demuro I have been watching your videos for while now and I appreciate your none biased tell it like it is, but not only that its your approach and that you seem to connect with the everyday blue collar guy in my opinion. I know its a bit late but I never watched this video and so congrats on owning this car I bet over time the more comfortable you got with your decision I mean we only live once and we are not taking any money with us so if I like something I buy it unless it will affect my life in a negative way. I have to say I was shocked and never would have guessed that this car was such a performer and a top pick for you, but this is and remains 1 of only a few cars ive never driven or even been taken for a ride in which there are only maybe a handful I can say that about. Now you have given me the itch to go for a ride in one of these and see what they are all about and I admit I think they look great and when they very first came out me and my friends thought it was was one hell of a supercar.
Dude, I watched several channels here, and me I love your channel most, because of your simplicity, and you have said so much truth about yourself, I mean it really shows what you really are, keep it real like this, you are the best, the best thing you said that you don't drink, how rare is to hear that, from people that are from the States, keep your life like this, seems like you have your dream car now, enjoy it and stay safe and well.....
Doug is really the Tarantino of car reviews. With the lead character 'Doug the Head' borrowed from Guy Ritchie's movie-Snatch. He captures us with a slow paced screenplay and crisp dialogue writing. Starting with "Thissss". Just when it gets monotonous, he catches us with "Quirks and Features". We get to see the plot point of the car with impeccable detail. And he climaxes like a madman, with his driving. Only thing missing is a Mexican standoff.
No way! I love that content -- I just can't compete with buying the latest and greatest. I would freak out at spending that much money, and potentially losing it to depreciation!!

Since this is a big video for you I also want to say that if you can retain a viewer like me who doesn't own a car, rides a bicycle to work and takes public transit, you are doing something pretty special. You are literally the only reason I keep a little bit of the interest I had in cars when I was in high school! Cheers Doug, keep being quirky.
Doug congrats brother, super stoked for you
I am speechless!
You speak the truth...
You are so real...not like other funky youtubers
I am amazed from you doug ...
Keep it Up!

@@kristo2212 He means that the car will appreciate in value...
d-appreciate haha
The feelings you describe that you went through to buy this are EXACTLY what I went through buying my GT500 last week. Makes me feel like I made the right decision. Thanks for that!
Your second channel was created just for your fuel expenses.
I love minimalist interiors in my supercars...and those mechanical toggle switches are great. And the shifter is perfect
Doug: “I won’t ever be able to afford a Carrera GT”
*5 years later* “I bought a Carrera GT - My Dream Car!”
WarGames8 hopefully he will
WarGames8 i totally agree ! He will be able to buy it
@@carsracing5901 oh yeah he'll be able to buy it but he'll spend a year worrying about making THAT purchase :p
The Ford GT is much cooler than the Carrera GT
@@DanielBlaney nah they're both really nice cars overall, but they're both up to taste
Doug...the best thing to ever happen to UA-cam!
Congrats Doug!you deserve it!
I hear you Doug, I wasn't born of wealth either. I have a little money now but that's about it and that's only because I have been a wise spender and a good earner. Thank's for being a genuine down to earth person like most of the rest of us! OH, and congrats for "living a little!"
No one deserves this more than you Doug! Congratulations, sincerely. Its nice to know that I helped simply by habitually clicking your notifications.
You were in high school in 2005? So you are early 30s? I honestly thought you had 10 years on me. Props man, you are wise beyond your years
@Rob C just a stereotype
He is only 30!!! Wtf
Doug does look a good 10 years older than he really is
He ment high school in 1995 right?
If i didnt have facial hair i could pass as a high schooler and i'll be 30.
One of the only main car UA-camrs that gets cars bc he likes them not the show off 🙃👍👌🚗
When I was in college in 2005 there was an enclosed semi trailer that showed up and unloaded this exact car and we got to see it first hand. Talk about incredible!!
What I like is your attitude Doug, down to earth even you've just spent a lot of money on this car, your attitude kept humble. This is how anyone should be, cars, money, everything goes down to the pooper once you're dead and, it doesn't make you better than anyone else. Keep up the good work with your videos and best of luck with the GT. Cheers
In 2004, My Wife and I were staying in a Red Roof Innn in Troy, IL
Walking back from Dinner, there was a Red With White Stripe New Ford GT in the Parking Lot! Elation and Salivation ensued!!! Then 2 Ford Engineers appeared.
Questioning revealed that they were driving the GT to Arizona for Proving Ground Work and No, We Couldn’t Borrow the Car for a “Little While “!
I have been Smitten ever since, You Lucky Doug!!! Congratulations!!!
so you've paid 400,000 for 2005 car instead of paying for latest supercar like everybody else. you've just earned my utmost respect for sticking to your own dream, not others fame dream.

hafifi mohamad clearly, someone didn’t pay attention to the videos lol

shadowninja81500 new Ford GT’s are not selling for about $300,000. Not even close
I just love how humble Doug is compared to other youtubers. Oh also congrats on the new car.
When I went to HS I would see a very similar ford GT (same color and wheels) every morning. I remember always taking a few minutes and appreciate the car's beauty. That would be my daily motivation for school.
You deserve it doug! You're a humble dude and the fact that you felt the need to explain yourself for the decision makes you even more likeable. You gotta drink beer though lol
Jon Samuel I think he might be Mormon. Just a hunch. Mormons wear ‘garments’ under their clothes - just like white undershirts and long underwear. You can see he always has a white undershirt on and I wonder if that’s why
I always wear a white undershirt to help hide my man boobs and belly haha so maybe that's why he does it haha
he doesn't have to drink anything

Doug, the type of guy that when he reach 2M of subs on UA-cam he buys his dream car.
Congrats for him!
"I've never spent this much money before on anything" Actually, that's why now you can spend that much money :D
Enjoy your car! It's amazing.
0:56 Broo you can't just diss the Windstar like that, it was the most robust and reliable car my family ever owned, and we had everything from factory-new jeeps to S class Mercedes
In short terms he called Salomondrin, Shmee, and vehicle virgins a whole bunch of HYPE BEAST can’t disagree with Doug
"whole bunch of HYPE BEAST can’t disagree with Doug" how do you mean it? I never heard Alejandro talking bad things about the Ford GT mk1...
@@Terradyn86 do you know what hypebeast means? Apparently not, because your comment doesn't make any sense.
Shmee is good and seen threw glass but rest are a little over the top!! Both those guys are down to earth check them out if you have not seen them!!!
TheLactatingAnus Totally relatable, very repetitive to a point where even the super cars are starting to get boring to watch, seeing them over and over. Jay leno's garage is much more refined, more variety.
and your comment does any sense?

Congrats, Doug!! Out of all the car UA-camrs you’re the most honest and humble of them.

Doug secretly dissing all the car UA-camr's.
Edit: Thanks for all the likes guys!

Secretly? He more or less called them chumps!
No way! I love that content -- I just can't compete with buying the latest and greatest. I would freak out at spending that much money, and potentially losing it to depreciation!!
@@DougDeMuro I completely agree with you Doug, I was just joking around. Btw you just made my day with you're reply!
Doug wasn’t really "secretly"saying anything! Thought it was obvious he is saying they are pretentious pompous poops! They say the richer someone is, the more they dress without concern of how they look!
Right Doug?
Insert_________monkey laughter!!
Dude, it's funny that you say you agonized over your decision to buy it. Besides buying one of the coolest cars ever, you've got almost 4 million hits on UA-cam. Smart choice.
Congratulations Doug and nice color it looks great.

Wtf, i started highschool in 2005, im 30..
NAH my kids were still in school.
I thought Doug was like 45-50 lmao
That 2005 GT is a piece of art. I wouldnt doubt it that many years from now they will be an even steeper price tag for this very model.
Doug makes good decisions. This will be a million dollar car in 10 years.
WikiTool they made thousands of them, the demand simply isn’t there for that and even adjusting for inflation the market is already cooling off

Doug says in a later video that he paid $225k (didn't notice him saying it in this video) and he definitely gambled right. Look up the values of these cars now. Insane.
