I have misfire error codes and p1250 manifold pressure too high. I was wondering if you think that my bmw 328i year 2000 has a vacuum leak which is causing these errors? Thanks
I got my 99 e46 started today for the first time in 4 years. Rough idle of course but wouldn't stay running. I tried changing the spark plugs and it hard so I just left it that way. It started anyway. My 3 problems were smoke coming out of cylinder 3, stuck spark plugs, and idle. Is there a tip to get the spark plugs out if they're stuck and do you think I might need a new ICV? I cleaned the ICV but it doesn't rattle. I went over to auto zone to see if the new ones rattle and they don't either. Then I compared my old ICV with Autozone's new ICV and they look exactly the same. Even same brand. It looks like an old mechanic replaced it with a bad aftermarket part. Is it possible? Thanks!
My 02 E46 sedan says misfire in 3/6 cylinders at idle and fuel cut with engine off with lean code. In my motorcycle racing experience I know lean comes from a inconsistent mixture and the ecu can't fix it. Car gets decent MPG but I think it's got cheep plugs. They're single prong electrode style and I know bmw wants the 4 prong NGK. I've yet to check for any vacuum leaks but do you think the plugs could be the issue? Car def gets out of its own way to be 170 hp at 3600lbs
Hey Nathen , I’ve took off my exhaust manifolds on my 2001 325 I , used manifolds from a 95 325 . Have to secure o2 senser better , had 1 in the way , everything seems to be working out . Today I went out and bought set of coils for my e39 M54. They were good price at 200 bucks for the set of six.The make is OBR Autoparts (AS1328). The language on the box looks Italian or Romanian. The kid behind the counter said they should work but I hope my baby doesn't blow up. However the car still has the shakes and misses when cold.

great video! i see you can help me with a question. i had my BMW 525i 2003 front brake pads installed and since then my brake ligth is on I've brought the car back twice and he just turn it off with the computer but in a day it comes back on what can i do to have this fix? thankfully monty.

The random misfire on 2 cylinders and lean code is going to be the maf sensor guys, if you know how to read live data look at the MAF sensor at idle, the live data is gonna show the maf sensor is bad at idle or at high speed, i forgot what is the specs for the MAF sensor at idle and at high idle or speed. Dont go getting some cheap ass MAF from amazon, it may work for 6 months then shit the bed,get one from autozone or advance auto parts or whatever reputable local parts store of your choice, i own a 04 bmw 325xi and had the same symptoms, as a certified autp tech i decided to look at the live data for the MAF and i remember it being off, i checked the i take boot first but it was fine so i tried cleaning the sensor bud that didn't change the reading so i decided to buy a new one, installed it and watch the live data at idle which was identical to the old one but at full throlle or high speeds the new MAF sensor did read differently to the old one, misfire on 2 cylinders and lean code gone with new MAF sensor
Nathan, thanks for the comments on the Bremi versus Bosch... can't remember which I have when I did the VCG last summer, but if I get the 5/6 misfire it's prob Bosch.
I own 2 BMWs my personal opinion only: they're amazing machines I love mine soo much they're irreplaceable. I also own VWs again very impressed with the quality, not expensive to maintain. mine turned out to be very reliable. btw my older BMW is 32 years old just shy of 300k miles on the clock, the other one is 15 years old with 130k on the clock very little drama with them.
Do you think you could give me your input on my issue? Okay, first off, I changed out my fuel injectors, had codes p1083, P1085, p0171, and p0174 codes pop up, so I put the original ones back in and still got the same codes. I noticed my secondary air pump is much louder as well. I then got some different fuel injectors and still the same codes. My car runs rough and as well, when I shut the car off, it doesn’t suck in the air like it did beforehand.I have visibility checked all the hoses/lines without taking them out and the disa valve has a new O’ring that had been replaced within 2 months. My intake boots look visibility good without taking them out. Also to mention, my injectors had a lot of crud on them. Could some of the crud have broken off when taking them out and plugged something up? What is your opinion because right now, I haven’t a clue where to start or where my vacuum leak may be?
Hey all, I have an issue with a bmw z3 M54 2.2i. It keeps coming up with bank lean codes and misfires. Both banks and single banks, random misfires, but diagnostic says cylinder 5 is troublesome. No obvious vac leaks anywhere... fault has been getting more frequent, although the car hasn’t run much in the last six months... any thoughts??? Thanks.
Hey I have a 2005 545i I’m getting a misfire with rough idle, I’m losing engine oil with an oil leak that is hard to find showed 2 neighbors who happen to be mechanics they couldn’t find the oil leak. Also getting white smoke when I start up or accelerating. Getting a dry oil stick even when I put oil inside the vehicle
hi Nathan, maybe you can figure this problem out I'm having! 2001Bmw 525i I replaced my starter and reinstalled my manifold. Starts up and runs good bad after it warms up to running temp I get smoke from the exhaust! "why to much" So I pulled off the big rubber plugg and now there's no more smoke but runs ruff and shakes after it gets to running temp. I know its a air line , does the 01525i have the vacuum canister next to the starter?? I'm getting the code for secondary air pump? But its all working , I've checked over and over! But something isn't right, did I forget a plug maybe?
My e46 has a missfire in sylinder 1 and a oil leak on the oil filter housing. Have the parts to fix the oil filter housing, but not figured out the missfire yet, if my coil is broken or what. Could be oil leaking from the crank case gasket(4syl) into the sparkplug hole? Anyway these videos are helpful. I love driving my e46, and its been pretty easy to repair. Its just its rusting everywhere by now and something is allways broken. Considering getting a japanese car next, not sure if they are more reliable or their drivers are less abusive to their cars. Been thinking about the Nissan 370z.
***** yeah the roads are salted pretty much every time I drive in the winter for like 4-5 months a year. Every time I see bmw's with a lot of miles beeing repaired on youtube. And there is no rust on any of the parts under. I'm like wtf my car looks nothing like that. And everything in the suspention is so much harder to work on since every bolt is rusted. Had quite a few bad ones were they have snapped in a bad spot etc.
I'm from norway btw. Only way to avoid cars rusting is to wash them pretty much every day or every other day. Minimum once per week when the roads are salted. I've seen cars that are 4 years old and are completly destroyed by rust. New cars come with very little rust protection from factory aswell. Like there is plastic in the fenders but thats pretty much it. One option is to spray on a layer under. Not sure exatly what they are using but it looks kinda like black rubber.
+Kristian Hagene I would do a catch can or single hose conversion in place of the ccv, then if its still leaking replace the gasket for the oil filter.
Nathan's DIY Garage I replaced the CCV and the hoses for it a year ago. I think that works now. I also got a new gasket for it I just haven't replaced it. But yeah deleting the whole CCV might have been a better idea.
